[2] The title of the sermon: “HEBREWS CHAPTER 2.”

  • Let’s get started verse by verse through Hebrews Chapter 2.
  • Let’s start there in none other verse but verse 1.

[3] Hebrews 2:1 Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip.

  • Everything that we heard in Hebrews Chapter 1 is of utmost importance. Do not let them slip.
  • Jesus is the Son of God and His Father called Him God.
  • The majesty on high calls Jesus, the Son of God, God. He tells Jesus to sit down on His right hand.
  • We know that Jesus has always been the only begotten Son of God.
  • He was begotten when He was resurrected from the dead. Jesus is God, and He died for our sins.
  • None of the Scriptures can be broken. The word of God endures forever. His words are everlasting.

Now, we should give earnest heed to these things. Give all our attention. Be eager to learn the Bible.

  • Be fixed on your goals to read the Bible through many times each year. Be serious about Bible study.
  • Give care, attention, caution, and notice because not hearing these words can be dangerous.
  • Not following these words steadily with diligence can lead to very bad consequences. Understand that.
  • This book, called the Bible, is the guide book for your life and will lead you to the right things.
  • So, please don’t let these things slip.

[4] Deuteronomy 4:9 Only take heed to thyself, and keep thy soul diligently, lest thou forget the things which thine eyes have seen, and lest they depart from thy heart all the days of thy life: but teach them thy sons, and thy sons’ sons;

  • This is our job as parents of children. We are to teach all of the things in this Bible to them.
  • Our job is not to get them into extra curricular activities to keep them busy.
  • Our job is not to send them to the public schools. Our job is not to throw them to the wolves.
  • Our job is to teach the words of God to our children so that they can keep their soul diligently.

[5] Deuteronomy 32:46 And he said unto them, Set your hearts unto all the words which I testify among you this day, which ye shall command your children to observe to do, all the words of this law.

  • These same commandments are throughout the Bible. You can’t miss them. And don’t take them lightly.

[6] Proverbs 4:1-4 Hear, ye children, the instruction of a father, and attend to know understanding. 2 For I give you good doctrine, forsake ye not my law. 3 For I was my father’s son, tender and only beloved in the sight of my mother. 4 He taught me also, and said unto me, Let thine heart retain my words: keep my commandments, and live.

  • A good father is not one who gives his children everything they want. He gives them what they need.
  • A good father teaches the words of this Bible to his children so they can live.
  • And we must do these things lest at any time we should let them slip.
  • The word of God can and will save lives.

[7] Luke 8:15 But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience.

  • With your children, you want to sow the seed on good ground. You have years with your children.
  • Keep sowing the word of God and it will be received with an honest and good heart.
  • They will hear the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience. They will get others saved.
  • Your children can help to get the children of others saved. And this is what we care about.

We must not be selfish and only care about our own. What about the others? Jesus died for them.

  • Let’s remember all of these things, keep them, and store them up in our hearts.
  • They can’t be taken away if we give earnest heed to these things which we have heard.

[8] Hebrews 2:2 For if the word spoken by angels was stedfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompence of reward;

  • The word of God spoken by angels was stedfast. Angels are messengers from God.
  • They bring the actual word of God. For example, Mormons at your door are not angels.
  • They bring a message filled with lies to your door. Most churches aren’t filled with angels.
  • The angels being spoken of here are ones that bring the message of God. And it is stedfast.
  • This is fixed, firm, and not wavering. This is the steady word of God. FIRM AND NOT WAVERING.
  • Angels are ministering spirits and they speak the word of God.

Every transgression and disobedience receives a just recompence of reward.

  • You can see throughout the Bible that God punishes justly for every transgression and disobedience.
  • You see all of the examples. Read the Bible. See what happened in the Old Testament.
  • They received a just recompence of reward for every disobedience.
  • The man picking up sticks on the Sabbath Day is an example. Remember these things. Don’t let them slip.
  • When the world deceives you into thinking Jesus is some easy going man who is okay with everything:
  • Remember the actual words of the Bible.

[9] Hebrews 2:3 How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him;

  • If every transgression receives a just recompense or reward, how shall we escape if we neglect so great salvation?
  • This is written to the Hebrews and is called the Book of Hebrews. How shall we escape?
  • At the first, salvation was began to be spoken by the Lord and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him.

How do we know the way to salvation? THE LORD FIRST SPOKE THESE THINGS.

  • Without Him, no one would know the way to salvation. And even today, people won’t listen to Him.
  • And they won’t listen to the people He spoke with. They won’t hear Abraham, Moses, David, or Solomon.
  • They won’t hear Job who personally spoke with the Lord. They won’t hear Paul.
  • They won’t hear God, they won’t hear the prophets, and they won’t hear us when we repeat these things.
  • Broad is the way that leadeth to destruction and many there be which go in thereat.

[10] Hebrews 2:4 God also bearing them witness, both with signs and wonders, and with divers miracles, and gifts of the Holy Ghost, according to his own will?

  • God Himself bear them witness. He showed signs and wonders. He did many different miracles.
  • Read the Bible through and note all the miracles that were done.
  • The very last verse in the Gospel of John tells us that the world itself could not contain the books that should be written if all the things which Jesus did were written down.

God gave gifts of the Holy Ghost. You can see this throughout the Bible. The Book of Acts tells us about this.

  • What else does God have to do to bear witness that He is the Creator and Savior of this world?
  • Is this not enough? Yet, people want more. They want God to prove Himself to them.
  • He already has. Open your eyes. Are you still blind? Do not neglect so great salvation.
  • It’s heaven or hell for you. Which one are you going to choose?

When something is written in this Bible, we know it’s true. We don’t have to see it with our own eyes.

  • We don’t have to touch it, feel it, see it, or confirm it ourselves in person like some people want.
  • Jesus says in John Chapter 20, “Blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.”
  • God has given everyone all the proof they need to believe in Him. They don’t need to see anything else.
  • God’s will is for people to believe in the Son of God, Jesus Christ. This is salvation.

[11] Luke 16:27-29 Then he said, I pray thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father’s house: 28 For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment. 29 Abraham saith unto him, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them.

[12] Luke 16:30-31 And he said, Nay, father Abraham: but if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent. 31 And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead.

  • Jesus Christ rose from the dead, and most people know this. They just don’t care.
  • If they will not hear the words of this Bible even while knowing Jesus arose from the dead, we can’t help them further.
  • We can preach these same words to people, but they have to change their mind or repent.
  • “Neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead.”

So, God did give signs and wonders, divers miracles, and gifts of the Holy Ghost to many people in the Bible.

  • But we don’t need to see these with our own eyes. Others already have.
  • The phrase “signs and wonders” is in the Bible 14 times, 5 in the Old and 9 in the New Testament.
  • Apostles were given the power of signs and wonders through the Holy Ghost.
  • You can see this in the Acts of the Apostles. You can see this in many other books of the Bible.
  • Hebrews 2 verse 4 is the last time the phrase signs and wonders is in the Bible.

[13] Romans 15:19 Through mighty signs and wonders, by the power of the Spirit of God; so that from Jerusalem, and round about unto Illyricum, I have fully preached the gospel of Christ.

  • So, listen, stop looking for signs and wonders for God to prove Himself to you.
  • All of these things have already been done. We don’t need to signs and wonders.
  • Jesus Christ did these things already. The apostles already did these things.

[14] Matthew 16:4 A wicked and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given unto it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas. And he left them, and departed.

  • Remember this. Don’t seek after a sign from God and then tell me God proved Himself to you.
  • Listen, that wasn’t God. Be very careful out there. Many people are seeking after signs out there today.

For example, these clown “Deliverance preachers” are seeking after signs.

  • They are most likely devil possessed themselves. They teach a saved person can be possessed with devils.
  • They put on a show of things. People who are seeking after signs will follow these deliverance clowns.
  • But, please, listen to the words of the Bible. Do you not see what God says?
  • If you are constantly seeking after signs that you believe God is showing you, I would think again.
  • Let’s keep going in Hebrews Chapter 2 verse 5.

[15] Hebrews 2:5 For unto the angels hath he not put in subjection the world to come, whereof we speak.

  • Remember, angels can be living creatures such as seraphim and cherubim or humans or God.
  • We see Jesus as the Angel of the Lord or the messenger that came forth from God.
  • We see prophets as angels. We see men as angels in Revelation.
  • Messengers of God are angels when they bring the message from God.

“For unto the angels hath he not put in subjection the world to come, whereof we speak.”

  • The prophets of God are the angels of God. Why do I say this? Messengers of God are angels.
  • The men and women of this Bible, prophets, are the angels being spoken of here.
  • I’ll prove this in a minute, but watch what the Book of Revelation says.

[16] Revelation 22:8-9 And I John saw these things, and heard them. And when I had heard and seen, I fell down to worship before the feet of the angel which shewed me these things. 9 Then saith he unto me, See thou do it not: for I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren the prophets, and of them which keep the sayings of this book: worship God.

  • This angel is a man. He is of the brethren of John. He is of the prophets.
  • And this man or angel is showing John the things in the Book of Revelation.
  • Angels sound the 7 trumpets and the 7 vials of God’s wrath. These are men.
  • Understand that the world to come will be in subjection to the angels of God.
  • We will rule and reign with Jesus Christ in His kingdom. We will be judges.

So, you might as well read these words over and over again. Know them. Memorize them. Meditate on them.

  • If you re faithful in very little, God says have authority over 10 cities.
  • If you’re faithful in less than that, God says have authority over 5 cities.
  • His words are very important to the future. His words endure forever. His words are prophecy.
  • Understand this as we continue to study His words in Hebrews Chapter 2.

[17] Hebrews 2:6 But one in a certain place testified, saying, What is man, that thou art mindful of him? or the son of man, that thou visitest him?

  • But one, an angel or messenger of God, in a certain place testified. What did he testify?
  • “What is man, that thou art mindful of him? Or the son of man, that thou visitest him?”
  • This is a direct quote from Psalm Chapter 8 from king David.

[18] Psalm 8:3-4 When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained; 4 What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?

  • But I want you to see that this is talking about us. This is talking about man on this earth.
  • “WHAT IS MAN?” Why does God make us so important to Him and give us good gifts?
  • Why does He give us life and everlasting life for trusting in Him?
  • Why would the Almighty God of all creation care so much for us and visit us?
  • And yes, this is talking about us. Let’s read more in Psalm Chapter 8.

[19] Psalm 8:5-9 For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour. 6 Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all things under his feet: 7 All sheep and oxen, yea, and the beasts of the field; 8 The fowl of the air, and the fish of the sea, and whatsoever passeth through the paths of the seas. 9 O LORD our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth!

  • We also know that this speaks of Jesus Christ. We are not Jesus Christ, but God is making this comparison.
  • God gives man dominion over the works of His hands. “Thou has put all things under his feet.”
  • You don’t see animals ruling over this earth. You don’t see monkeys, bears, or lions ruling over this earth
  • You see birds that fly high above us, but they don’t rule over this earth.
  • We can see everything that God created, and He gave us dominion over all of it.

[20] Job 7:17-18 What is man, that thou shouldest magnify him? and that thou shouldest set thine heart upon him? 18 And that thou shouldest visit him every morning, and try him every moment?

  • King David was saying the same things that Job was saying through the Holy Ghost.

[21] Psalm 144:3 LORD, what is man, that thou takest knowledge of him! or the son of man, that thou makest account of him!

  • God loves us even though we sin against Him constantly. WHAT IS MAN?
  • We are nothing compared to Him. Why does He care for us so much and set His heart upon us?

[22] Isaiah 40:17 All nations before him are as nothing; and they are counted to him less than nothing, and vanity.

  • Take all the nations that have ever existed. Take the Americans for example. PRIDE IN THE USA.
  • All the rock stars and country stars sing about it all the time. Pride in the American way.
  • Hey, you shouldn’t have pride and be proud of this nation. “Proud to be an American.”
  • The Bible tells you the truth. “All nations before Him are as nothing.”
  • They are counted to Him less than nothing. LESS THAN NOTHING IS NEGATIVE.
  • Are you proud of yourself, your fellow sinners, and your wicked ways? Don’t be. We are as nothing.
  • But yet, God sent His Son Jesus Christ, made flesh, and dwelt among us to die for us who are in the flesh.

[23] Hebrews 2:7-8 Thou madest him a little lower than the angels; thou crownedst him with glory and honour, and didst set him over the works of thy hands: 8 Thou hast put all things in subjection under his feet. For in that he put all in subjection under him, he left nothing that is not put under him. But now we see not yet all things put under him.

  • It is very clear that man is at the top of the food chain on this earth. Why? Because God made us to be.
  • If He wanted us to be lower, He would do to all of man what He did to king Nebuchadnezzar.
  • He gives us the power and dominion that we have right now. He could end me in a moment.
  • He could end all of mankind in a moment. He has the power over life and over death of everything.
  • He crowned us with glory and honor. He put all things in subjection under our feet.

We know these things and reality tells us that this is the truth. Reality is a witness to us.

  • We have dominion over this earth. But God has dominion over everything. He is at the top.
  • For example, in my job, to get to the top, you would have to go through like 50 levels of people or more.
  • Well, God is much higher, but the amazing thing about God is He is not far from any of us.
  • He gives us a direct line of communication through His Son who was made flesh so He could save us.

Put this all together as we keep studying Hebrews Chapter 2. Notice the very end of verse 8 there.

  • “But now we see not yet all things put under him.” Through Jesus Christ, all things are put under us.
  • And we don’t see these things yet. We can’t even imagine these things yet.
  • “He left nothing that is not put under Him.” We are in Jesus Christ. We rule with Him.

[24] Hebrews 2:9 But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man.

  • Because God sent Jesus to save us, we will rule and reign. Jesus was made a little lower than the angels.
  • He suffered death. And we know this is a physical death and a spiritual death.
  • We know He is crowned with glory and honor. Notice what the verse says at the end.
  • “That He by the grace of God should taste death for EVERY MAN.” He died for the sins of every man.
  • That Scripture destroys Calvinism and reformed Baptists in every way, shape, and form.

[25] Romans 8:2-3 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. 3 For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:

  • Jesus was made of the flesh, came in the likeness of sinful flesh, to condemn sin in the flesh.
  • He came in the flesh to save us of the flesh. He didn’t come to save ministering spirits or angels.
  • And when I say that I am talking about the spirit angels such as the seraphim and cherubim.
  • Remember, the Bible also calls men and prophets the angels of God. Jesus tasted death for us.
  • Again, the Bible tells us that He was dead. He tasted death. He died, was buried, and arose from the dead.
  • Jesus became a man in this flesh to save us. He created us. We simply believe in Him to be saved.
  • He suffered for us so we don’t have to take the suffering that we would have had in hell.

[26] Hebrews 2:10 For it became him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings.

  • Now we are speaking of the Son of God, Jesus Christ, who is God. This verse tells us Jesus is God.
  • Jesus became us. Hebrews Chapter 7 tells us: “For such an high priest became us, who is holy.”
  • All things are for Jesus Christ. Al things are by Jesus Christ.
  • Notice the exact words: “In brining MANY SONS unto glory.” Most people will see destruction.
  • Most people will go to hell the Bible says. But Jesus still died for them.

He does bring MANY SONS unto glory. He will gather His children together. The children of the devil will go to hell.

  • It’s your choice. You can believe Jesus or not. All of these words come from Him.
  • Jesus is the captain of our salvation. He was made perfect through sufferings. Jesus is the forerunner.
  • He is the author and finisher of our faith. He endured the cross. He despised the shame.
  • Jesus is the captain of the host of the Lord. He is our leader and our commander.
  • He is our WITNESS. We listen to Him because He tells us the truth. He is exalted far above us.
  • He is seated on the right hand of His Father, the majesty on high, in heaven.

We are not our own captain of salvation. We don’t work for it through ourselves in any way, shape, or form.

  • Jesus had to become us to save us because we can’t save ourselves. If we could, He died in vain.
  • That’s why any type of works based salvation is foolish. If it is of works, then Jesus died in vain.
  • He is THE CAPTAIN of our salvation. Salvation only comes through Him.

[27] Hebrews 2:11-12 For both he that sanctifieth and they who are sanctified are all of one: for which cause he is not ashamed to call them brethren, 12 Saying, I will declare thy name unto my brethren, in the midst of the church will I sing praise unto thee.

  • Sanctifying us from our sins is cleansing us completely from our sin. Who does this?
  • We can’t do any work to completely cleanse us from our sin. JESUS ALONE CLEANSES US FROM SIN.
  • God alone cleanses us from sin. It’s not of ourselves. “For both He that sanctifieth.” He sanctifies.
  • And when He sanctifies us and cleanses our soul of sin, we are SANCTIFIED past tense. Saved. Done deal.
  • That’s how we can now be one with Him. Our spirit and soul is one with Him. We are IN Jesus Christ.

If you’re one with Jesus Christ once you are saved, how could you lose salvation?

  • How could you be thrown into hell if you are one with Jesus Christ? That makes absolutely zero sense.
  • How can we sin if we are in Jesus Christ? Our body sins. Our flesh sins. That’s why Jesus came in the flesh.
  • Our body is still dying at this time. But our soul is saved. We are sealed with the Holy Spirit.
  • If we were not, Jesus Christ would be ashamed of us.

But the Bible says, “For which cause (us being sanctified and made clean by Jesus Christ) He is not ashamed to call them brethren.”

  • Jesus is not ashamed to call me His brother to God the Father. He calls me His brother. I am in His family.
  • I have a new family that is in Jesus Christ. If you are in Jesus Christ, you are my family.
  • I am not ashamed to call you brethren. I am not ashamed of Jesus Christ.
  • Hebrews Chapter 11 says that God is not ashamed to be called our God.
  • He has prepared a city for us. Jesus prepares a place for you and I. Do you not see this?

Do you not understand the great love that God has for His people? He takes care of us.

  • When you ask for something according to His will, your prayer comes up before Him.
  • Do what He says because He loves you, and you love Him. He is not ashamed of you.
  • You are not ashamed of Him. We study to show ourselves approved. We are workmen for Him.
  • What is our job and purpose on this earth? DO THE WORK OF GOD. We were created to do His works.
  • Now that He has sanctified you, it’s time to do the work He gave us to do.

Verse 12 says, “I will declare thy name unto my brethren, in the midst of the church will I sing praise unto thee.”

  • This is a direct quote from Psalm Chapter 22. Psalm Chapter 22 is prophecy concerning Jesus Christ.
  • Notice how verse 12 of Hebrews says in the midst of the church will I sing praise unto thee.

[28] Psalm 22:22 I will declare thy name unto my brethren: in the midst of the congregation will I praise thee.

  • This goes both ways with Jesus Christ and with us. He will declare our name unto His brethren.
  • And we will declare His name unto our brethren.
  • Notice how Hebrews says in the midst of the church and Psalms says in the midst of the congregation.
  • Church is a congregation of believers who declare the name of Jesus Christ as Savior of the world.

[29] Psalm 111:1 Praise ye the LORD. I will praise the LORD with my whole heart, in the assembly of the upright, and in the congregation.

  • The upright are those who Jesus picks up and stands them upright HIMSELF.
  • We assemble and are righteous in this congregation all because of Jesus Christ. Praise ye the Lord.

[30] Hebrews 2:13 And again, I will put my trust in him. And again, Behold I and the children which God hath given me.

  • This chapter does a perfect job of explaining that we are one with Jesus Christ.
  • This speaks of Jesus Christ and this speaks of us. The Bible does this purposely to show you we are one.
  • We are in Jesus Christ and one with Him. “And again, I will put my trust in Him.”

Jesus Christ puts His trust in God. We put our trust in God. The Bible ties the Old and New Testament together.

  • At the start of Psalm Chapter 22, Jesus says: “My God, my God why hast thou forsaken me?”
  • Jesus puts His trust in God. We are to follow Him. We trust in God. And again, I will put my trust in Him.
  • “And again, Behold I and the children which God hath given me.” That’s Jesus and that’s us.

We both can say this same thing. Jesus has children. We have children. He begets and we beget.

  • Paul says, “my son” to Timothy, as an example.
  • Paul says, “I beseech thee for my son Onesimus whom I have begotten in my bonds.”
  • Do you see how Hebrews Chapter 2 is teaching us these things? We are important to God.
  • God gave us to Jesus Christ His Son. We are His children. We are His brethren.

[31] Psalm 18:2 The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.

  • The way to salvation is all throughout the Old Testament. Salvation was never about the law.
  • Salvation, from everlasting to everlasting, has always been about the Lord Jesus Christ.
  • Trust in Him and you are saved. Jesus says, “THY FAITH HATH SAVED THEE.”

[32] Romans 8:3 For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:

  • The law could never save anyone because it was weak through the flesh. Our flesh cannot follow the law.
  • So, what had to be done? God sent His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh to condemn sin in the flesh.
  • We are only saved by grace through faith. But people mistakenly think that I preach it’s okay to sin.
  • No, it’s not okay. Jesus came in the flesh to condemn sin. BE YE PERFECT. BE YE HOLY.
  • How? By walking in the Spirit that God gives to us once we believe in His Son.
  • But, we are still at war with this flesh, and we will sin because of this flesh that Jesus condemned.

[33] Hebrews 2:14 Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;

  • The children of God are partakers of flesh and blood.
  • The angels who are living creatures are not partakers of flesh and blood. They are spirits.
  • “The devils also believe.” Yes, the devils also believe but they aren’t saved by Jesus Christ.
  • They aren’t in the flesh. But, we, who are in this flesh, are children of God. We are flesh and blood.

Jesus took part of the same. He was made of the flesh. His blood spilled out. He was just like us.

  • He had to learn. He didn’t get any advantages. He was God at every moment, but no advantages.
  • He grew in wisdom and waxed strong in spirit.
  • Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man.

Muslims will try to use those Scriptures to prove Jesus wasn’t God, but this strengthens the fact that Jesus is God.

  • Without advantage, He never sinned. God is the only one who never sins.
  • Even in this flesh, He doesn’t sin. He took part of this same flesh and blood that we have.
  • And He died willingly for the sins of the whole world. ALL OF THEM. Why?

“That through death He might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil.”

  • The devil brought death upon mankind. The devil tempted Eve with evil. And she sinned.
  • And Adam sinned. “As by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin.”
  • But, we have a choice. Eve had a choice. Adam had a choice.
  • Jesus came to destroy the power of death and him who has that power, the devil.
  • The devil wants you to sin as much as possible. Jesus came so you can stop sinning.

Once this flesh is gone, we will no longer be sinners. Once we have a new body, sin will no longer dwell here.

  • Death is swallowed up in victory. When this corruptible puts on incorruption, death is no more.
  • Victory in Jesus. And that victory has everything to do with faith in Christ and not repenting of sin.
  • “Who is He that overcometh the world, but He that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God.”

[34] Hebrews 2:15 And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.

  • Before you are saved, you are subject to bondage. You are dead because you’ve sinned.
  • You’re headed to hell. We have all been headed to hell.
  • If God didn’t give us more time, we would have ended up there. People fear these things.
  • This is bondage. Death is very frightening. Most people won’t even think about it.

But, Jesus takes care of death for us. He says, “And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die.”

  • You can trust Him or not. TRUST HIM AND NEVER DIE. Believe in Him and never die.
  • Don’t look your Creator in the eye and call Him a liar. He doesn’t want that for you.
  • Get out of the bondage and step into the glorious liberty of the children of God.

[35] Hebrews 2:16 For verily he took not on him the nature of angels; but he took on him the seed of Abraham.

  • Jesus wasn’t born of the angels who are spirits. No, He was born of this flesh.
  • He didn’t take on the nature of angels. He took on Him the seed of Abraham.
  • He came from the physical line of Abraham. Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Jude and all the way to David.
  • 14 generations from Abraham to David. 14 from David to the carrying away of Babylon.
  • 14 from the carrying away into Babylon unto Christ. He came from the tribe of Judah physically.
  • He was made of this flesh. NOTHING ELSE BUT THIS FLESH. Not spiritual beings such as angels.

[36] Genesis 22:18 And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because thou hast obeyed my voice.

  • The seed of Abraham is Jesus Christ. All the nations of the earth are blessed through Jesus Christ.
  • False preachers get this all mixed up. They think they physically had to be from Abraham.
  • No, this is speaking of Jesus as the Son of Abraham.
  • All people are blessed through the seed of Abraham which is Jesus Christ.

[37] Hebrews 2:17 Wherefore in all things it behoved him to be made like unto his brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people.

  • All the false religions of this world have made up some false god who doesn’t know them.
  • He or she was never like them. He or she doesn’t know what it’s like to be one of us.
  • Science fiction movies are made up about all of these things. But, our Savior knows us.
  • He knows what it’s like to suffer as one of us better than any one of us. He knows it all.
  • He knows what it’s like to cry when someone dies. He knows all about suffering.

“IN ALL THINGS” it behoved Him or was necessary for Him to be made like unto his brethren.

  • The Bible says IN ALL THINGS. He is merciful with us because He knows your suffering.
  • The unsaved and the saved both suffer. He knows these things. He is merciful and faithful to us.
  • He doesn’t lie to us. He cares for us. He knows what we need. He knows pain, sweat, and tears.
  • He is our high priest who forgives us of our sins. Everything He does pertains to God.
  • HE IS THE ONE WHO MAKES RECONCILIATION FOR OUR SINS. There is no one else. You don’t. He does.

You simply take all the work that Jesus has done and you offer that up as your offering for sin.

  • Where’s your offering for sin? Jesus Christ is my offering for sin. I don’t add anything else to that.
  • I don’t try to add my works to Jesus Christ. He doesn’t need my help. I’ve already proven what I am.
  • I am a horrible sinner, and there’s nothing I can do on my own to change that. Jesus already did it.
  • I simply believe in Him to forgive me of everything I’ve done and will do. And He forgives me.
  • And He saved me. And He gave me everlasting life already. I will never die. He has great mercy on me.

[38] Hebrews 2:18 For in that he himself hath suffered being tempted, he is able to succour them that are tempted.

  • Jesus suffered being tempted. He was, in all points, tempted like as we are. YET WITHOUT SIN.
  • He came in the flesh to show this to you and to I. We learn obedience by the things we suffer.
  • We fail the tests. We learn. We pass some tests. We learn. He never failed. He passed them all.
  • He’s already proven Himself to you over and over and over again.

If you don’t think Jesus can save you, listen to the Bible. “He is able to succour them that are tempted.”

  • He is able to help you better than anyone else ever could. He is able to save you and keep you.
  • He is able to give you everlasting life right now. He is able to save you to the uttermost.
  • He is able to make your reservation in heaven sure right now. HE IS ABLE. He’s not lying to you.
  • He knows you. He made you. He came in this same flesh. He won. And He can save you.
  • Just believe Him. Trust Him as you would a Dad, Mom, friend, and brethren.

Let’s pray.
