[2] The title of the sermon: “PROVERBS CHAPTER 20.”

Continuing Our Bible Study Through Proverbs

  • Let’s continue our Bible study through the Book of Proverbs today.
  • Remember, this book is filled with wisdom. Every verse will make you wise.
  • Let’s start there in verse 1 of Proverbs Chapter 20.

[3] Proverbs 20:1 Wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging: and whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise.

  • So-called “Christians” act as if alcoholic wine is okay to drink since Jesus turned water into wine.
  • But what they haven’t done is actually study the Bible.
  • Jesus didn’t turn water into alcoholic wine as we know it today.
  • Jesus didn’t encourage the people to get drunk on wine. If you think so, you don’t know Jesus at all.
  • Look at the words of the Bible, and don’t be deceived. “Whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise.”

Catholics are deceived. The leaders of the Catholic religion are deceived. Proverbs Chapter 20 tells you that.

  • But they can’t see these words, and they don’t care for these words of wisdom. Why not?
  • Because they are deceived by the wine. They go by their feelings and it feels good.
  • But the Bible tells you over and over again that NOTHING GOOD comes from alcohol.

Noah got drunk and his own son violated him. Lot got drunk and had children with both of his own daughters.

  • Are there any examples in the Bible of something good happening when someone gets drunk?
  • No, there isn’t. There are many examples of very bad things happening when people are drunkards.

[4] Deuteronomy 21:20-21 And they shall say unto the elders of his city, This our son is stubborn and rebellious, he will not obey our voice; he is a glutton, and a drunkard. 21 And all the men of his city shall stone him with stones, that he die: so shalt thou put evil away from among you; and all Israel shall hear, and fear.

  • You don’t want to become a drunkard. That right there is God’s law. Drunkards become lawless.
  • They become stubborn and rebellious. And rebellion is like the sin of witchcraft.
  • Abigail’s first husband, Nabal, was a drunkard. Do you remember what happened to him?

[5] 1 Samuel 25:36-38 And Abigail came to Nabal; and, behold, he held a feast in his house, like the feast of a king; and Nabal’s heart was merry within him, for he was very drunken: wherefore she told him nothing, less or more, until the morning light. 37 But it came to pass in the morning, when the wine was gone out of Nabal, and his wife had told him these things, that his heart died within him, and he became as a stone. 38 And it came to pass about ten days after, that the LORD smote Nabal, that he died.

  • You won’t find that God is a huge fan of drunkards within the Bible. He hates drunkenness.
  • Alcohol deceives you. At first, you feel good. “Give me some more of that.”
  • And then everything turns bad. Stay away from alcohol, or it will bite you and sting you.

[6] Proverbs 23:19-21 Hear thou, my son, and be wise, and guide thine heart in the way. 20 Be not among winebibbers; among riotous eaters of flesh: 21 For the drunkard and the glutton shall come to poverty: and drowsiness shall clothe a man with rags.

  • If you want to be lawless, rebellious, stubborn, riotous, lazy, and come to poverty, then drink alcohol.
  • But why would you want those things? Most homeless people are drunkards. Is that what you want?

[7] Proverbs 23:29-32 Who hath woe? who hath sorrow? who hath contentions? who hath babbling? who hath wounds without cause? who hath redness of eyes? 30 They that tarry long at the wine; they that go to seek mixed wine. 31 Look not thou upon the wine when it is red, when it giveth his colour in the cup, when it moveth itself aright. 32 At the last it biteth like a serpent, and stingeth like an adder.

  • God warns us in the Bible over and over again about alcoholic drinks.
  • And the Scriptures are not difficult to find either. He warns us over and over again.
  • And then God follows that up with examples of drunkards and what happened to them.

[8] Isaiah 28:7-8 But they also have erred through wine, and through strong drink are out of the way; the priest and the prophet have erred through strong drink, they are swallowed up of wine, they are out of the way through strong drink; they err in vision, they stumble in judgment. 8 For all tables are full of vomit and filthiness, so that there is no place clean.

  • Alcohol leads to vomit and filthiness. You make errors constantly. You make the wrong decisions.
  • You stumble in judgement when you drink alcohol.

Alcohol Leads To Whoredom

[9] Hosea 4:11 Whoredom and wine and new wine take away the heart.

  • Alcohol leads to whoredom. That’s why all the nasty men are out at the bars.
  • They are looking for a whore.

[10] Ephesians 5:18 And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;

  • I could go on with pages of Scriptures about alcohol and drunkenness. These should be enough for you.
  • Belshazzar, the king of Babylon, in Daniel Chapter 5, was drinking.
  • He drank wine before the thousand. He became brave when was was drunken.

[11] Daniel 5:4-6 They drank wine, and praised the gods of gold, and of silver, of brass, of iron, of wood, and of stone. 5 In the same hour came forth fingers of a man’s hand, and wrote over against the candlestick upon the plaister of the wall of the king’s palace: and the king saw the part of the hand that wrote. 6 Then the king’s countenance was changed, and his thoughts troubled him, so that the joints of his loins were loosed, and his knees smote one against another.

  • That was Belshazzar’s last night of living right there.
  • When you decide to drink alcohol, just remember that it could be your last night of living.
  • You will make horrible decisions and do very stupid things. Don’t do it. Your life could end.

[12] Daniel 5:30-31 In that night was Belshazzar the king of the Chaldeans slain. 31 And Darius the Median took the kingdom, being about threescore and two years old.

  • Drunkenness leads to nothing good. Remember that all your life. Don’t even look at alcohol.
  • Don’t be around drunkards. I’ve been there and done that. Nothing good ever happens.
  • And any wise person who has been around it before will tell you the same thing.
  • Let’s continue in Proverbs Chapter 20 verse 2.

[13] Proverbs 20:2 The fear of a king is as the roaring of a lion: whoso provoketh him to anger sinneth against his own soul.

  • You don’t want make a good king angry. If you do, you are sinning against your own soul.
  • God compares the fear of a king to the roaring of a lion. Imagine a lion roaring directly in your face.
  • Jesus Christ is the LION of the tribe of Judah. He is fierce, and He has great wrath and anger.
  • You should be very afraid of Jesus Christ. There is no lion in existence like Jesus Christ.

[14] Hosea 11:10 They shall walk after the LORD: he shall roar like a lion: when he shall roar, then the children shall tremble from the west.

[15] Amos 3:8 The lion hath roared, who will not fear? the Lord GOD hath spoken, who can but prophesy?

  • Don’t provoke God to anger. You’ll find out how fierce God happens to be.
  • If you’ve ever felt an earthquake before, you’ll know the power you can feel within that earthquake.
  • You will tremble before God. Make sure you understand what that means? He is to be feared.

[16] Psalm 2:11 Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling.

[17] Psalm 119:120 My flesh trembleth for fear of thee; and I am afraid of thy judgments.

[18] Isaiah 64:2-3 As when the melting fire burneth, the fire causeth the waters to boil, to make thy name known to thine adversaries, that the nations may tremble at thy presence! 3 When thou didst terrible things which we looked not for, thou camest down, the mountains flowed down at thy presence.

  • The mountains will melt at the sight of the Lord God Almighty. Do you how fearful God happens to be?
  • But everyone out in this world today laughs at Him. His wrath is building.
  • Nature shows His power but people laugh at Him. I guarantee you that one day they won’t be laughing.
  • They will be trembling, wailing, crying, and gnashing their teeth together.
  • Instead of having that horrible end you should simply get rid of your stiff neck and trust in God.

[19] Proverbs 20:3 It is an honour for a man to cease from strife: but every fool will be meddling.

  • We don’t want strife. When you bow your neck against God, you are causing strife.
  • We could all dwell in peace and in harmony with God if we would follow His commandments.
  • And His commandments are not grievous. They are good for us. They are health to our bones.
  • But people just won’t do what God says. They continue to fight against Him and cause strife.
  • They continue to meddle in business that is not theirs.

God Gave Children To Parents But Liberals Want To Take Them

For example, now the liberals and progressives of this world want to take your children from you.

  • God gave children to the parents to care for. But the liberals are now attempting to take that away.
  • The authorities are giving children the vaccines without permission from the parents.
  • The schools all across this country are taking rights away from parents.
  • Here’s some wisdom for you today. GET YOUR CHILDREN OUT OF THE SCHOOLS.
  • Homeschool your children. Your wife should quit her job and take care of the children.
  • If you can’t pay for your home, sell it and find one you can pay for on the husband’s salary.
  • These liberals and progressives need to keep their meddling noses out of our business. They are fools.

[20] Proverbs 20:4 The sluggard will not plow by reason of the cold; therefore shall he beg in harvest, and have nothing.

  • We’ve seen drunkenness, provoking God to anger, strife, and meddling so far in Proverbs Chapter 20.
  • Now we see the Bible talking about sluggards or lazy bums who won’t work.
  • The sluggard won’t work because it’s cold. It’s snowing. Therefore shall he beg in harvest.
  • When it’s time to work, it’s time to work. If you won’t work, you’ll be a beggar and have nothing.
  • God doesn’t teach us in the Bible that it’s good to have nothing.
  • Some so-called “Christians” think it’s good to have nothing and to be a sluggard.
  • God teaches the exact opposite of that in His words.

[21] Proverbs 20:5 Counsel in the heart of man is like deep water; but a man of understanding will draw it out.

  • It’s good to have counsel in your life. You need to draw out this counsel and use it.
  • This is why it’s so important to be within a good church that teaches the words of the Bible.
  • We go verse by verse through the Bible. We teach topics that are very important within the Bible.
  • We live by the word of God. We don’t live by the words of man but by the words of God.

For example, when someone dies, we know that most likely that person went to hell.

  • The Bible tells us that most people choose the wide gate that leadeth to destruction.
  • This means that most people go to hell. This is called living by the word of God.
  • If we don’t live by the word of God, we believe that most people around us are going to heaven.
  • “Oh, so and so died. He’s in heaven. Oh, so and so died. She’s in heaven.”

God says the opposite. So, you can live by the word of God or by the foolishness of man.

  • If you think most people are going to heaven, then they don’t need to hear the actual words of God.
  • If you think most people are going to hell, and you actually care, then you’ll know they need to hear the word of God and be saved by Jesus Christ.
  • We need counsel and wisdom from God. He says most people are going to hell.
  • Why would you continue to think that most people you know are going to heaven?

Draw out the understanding from the word of God and stop trusting in the lies you’ve been taught.

  • If the person who died didn’t believe ON Jesus Christ ALONE, that person went to hell.
  • “But I just can’t imagine God sending that person to hell.” If you think like that, are you sure you’re going to heaven?
  • You already don’t trust what God says. You can either trust what He says or not.

[22] Proverbs 20:6 Most men will proclaim every one his own goodness: but a faithful man who can find?

  • Do you see how the example of most people going to hell goes right along with this next verse?
  • “MOST MEN will proclaim every one his OWN GOODNESS.”
  • “Oh, she was a good woman. She is in heaven now. Oh, he was a great man of God. He is in heaven now.”
  • Is he in heaven? Is she in heaven? Most likely, he or she isn’t in heaven. God says so.
  • But all the men and women of this world love to proclaim their own goodness. Happens constantly.
  • “Well, if she didn’t make it to heaven, then I won’t make it to heaven. Therefore she went to heaven.”
  • “She was a good woman.” Was she a good woman?

[23] Mark 10:18 And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God.

  • Why would you continue to act as if all these people are so good? I’ll tell you why.
  • Because you like to proclaim your own goodness just like Proverbs 20:6 says.
  • But the ACTUAL WORD OF GOD says there is NONE GOOD. We are not good on our own at all.
  • When you say that a man or woman was so good, you are lying. You are going against God’s words.
  • “She was so good. She went to church all the time. She made food for people. She’s in heaven.”
  • She’s in heaven because she made food for people and was such a good person? Really???
  • “Most men will proclaim every one his own goodness: but a faithful man who can find?”

Faithful Men and Women Trust In The Words of The Bible

Why won’t you be faithful man or woman who trusts completely in the word of God?

  • Don’t act as if you have faith in God and then continue to repeat the same old trash like a parrot.
  • The trash you are repeating is not of God. You are saying the opposite of His words.
  • Why don’t you say, “Well I know she’s in heaven because she had faith in Jesus Christ alone?”
  • Do you know why people aren’t saying these things? Because they can’t.
  • Because the person who died didn’t have faith in Jesus Christ alone. They went to hell.
  • They trusted in their own goodness, their own religion, and their own views.

They didn’t believe ON Jesus Christ. Why don’t you make sure your friends and family believe ON Jesus Christ?

  • If they don’t want to hear it, I would be very worried about where they are going when they die.
  • And then they die, and you go: “Well, I know they are in a better place. He was such a good person.”
  • “He rejected the gospel over and over again, but I know he’s in heaven because he knew me.”
  • “I know my friend is in heaven because she was my friend.” Why are you ignoring God’s words?
  • People don’t make it to heaven just because you knew them. You aren’t that great.
  • People only get to heaven if they put all their trust in Jesus Christ. And then Jesus Christ saves them.

You don’t save them. “Well, they were my friend so they went to heaven.”

  • “She was my daughter so she went to heaven. He went to heaven because he was my dad.”
  • “That was MY BROTHER. I know God let him into heaven because he was MY BROTHER.”
  • People, you need to wake up. Who can find a faithful man?
  • Who can find a man who believes what God says? You aren’t good. Your friend isn’t good.
  • Your parents aren’t good. Your children aren’t good. GOD IS GOOD. You all need Him to be saved.

[24] Luke 22:33 And he said unto him, Lord, I am ready to go with thee, both into prison, and to death.

  • Now, was your friend like that? Was your dad, mom, sister, brother, daughter, and son like that?
  • Were they ready to go with Jesus Christ? Were they ready to die for Jesus Christ?
  • Or, did they not even want to hear what He had to say? Did they love His words in the Bible? Did they?
  • I sure don’t know many people outside of you all who listen to these long sermons and love His words.
  • What I just said matches the words of the Bible. You can believe it or not. Most people love themselves.

[25] Proverbs 25:14 Whoso boasteth himself of a false gift is like clouds and wind without rain.

  • Will you continue to say that all the people dying around you are going to heaven?
  • You better change your mindset before they all end up in hell because you never told them.
  • “Well, we don’t talk about Jesus Christ because this just causes trouble.”
  • Do you know what’s going to cause them more trouble later on? HELL. Torment in hell.
  • Would you rather cause a little trobule now so they can be saved or would you like them to have more trouble in hell later?

[26] Proverbs 20:7 The just man walketh in his integrity: his children are blessed after him.

  • A faithful man is a just man who has been saved by God’s grace.
  • That man walks in his integrity who is Jesus Christ. He has faith in Jesus Christ and walks in that faith.
  • Did you know that your children can be blessed because of your faith in Jesus Christ?
  • Some people don’t realize that. But think about it. Will you preach the gospel to your children?
  • Will you make sure that you bring your children up to know the words of the Bible?
  • Will you read the Bible with your children? Will you teach Jesus Christ to them?

If so, they will most likely be saved as a child. And you can know that they have everlasting life.

  • Did you know that most parents aren’t teaching Jesus Christ to their children? They are fools.
  • Their children won’t grow up with the blessing of Jesus Christ.

[27] Jeremiah 32:39-40 And I will give them one heart, and one way, that they may fear me for ever, for the good of them, and of their children after them: 40 And I will make an everlasting covenant with them, that I will not turn away from them, to do them good; but I will put my fear in their hearts, that they shall not depart from me.

  • Are you bringing your children up in the Lord? They look up to you and are listening to you.
  • Don’t fail those beautiful little children. It’s up to you to make sure they are saved.
  • You have many years to teach them and to show them the truth in God’s words.

[28] Proverbs 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.

  • Every word of God is 100% truth. Train those children up. That’s what we do here at this church.
  • We train them to sit and listen to the word of God being preached.
  • God chose the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe. Listening to preaching is important.
  • This is God’s chosen method. Jesus Christ preached. That is why we preach.
  • But people don’t want to listen to God’s words being preached. “It’s too long. Whine, whine, whine.”
  • The children are being trained and learning. When they are old, they will NOT depart from these words.
  • Is that what you want for your children or not? Most parents aren’t training up their children in Jesus.
  • But they’ll send them to the public schools because it’s much easier.

Train Up Your Children In The Ways Of The Holy And Perfect God

Why aren’t you training your children? Why are you not taking care of and loving your own children?

  • What’s happening out there in this world? PARENTS, WHAT ARE YOU DOING?
  • Wake up before it’s too late. You don’t want to wake up the day of your child’s funeral.
  • You never told them about Jesus Christ. They are now rotting in hell because you didn’t tell them.
  • Is that what you want? You need to make sure your children are saved.
  • You can teach them but you can’t make them believe. You need to train them in the right ways.

[29] Joshua 24:14-15 Now therefore fear the LORD, and serve him in sincerity and in truth: and put away the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the flood, and in Egypt; and serve ye the LORD. 15 And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.

  • Hey, listen!!! Put away all of these other things out there today. Put away all the activities.
  • Why don’t you try finding a good church for you and your children and get there?
  • “But I’ve got gymnastics competition on Sunday. We can’t come.” Do you hear how foolish you sound?
  • “But I’ve got basketball practice. I’ve got this to do, that to do, and more. I just don’t have time.”
  • Hey, put all of that stuff away. Don’t allow it to get in the way of you finding God and serving Him.
  • This isn’t optional. If you won’t put all of those other things away, God will turn and He will hurt you.

[30] Joshua 24:20-21 If ye forsake the LORD, and serve strange gods, then he will turn and do you hurt, and consume you, after that he hath done you good. 21 And the people said unto Joshua, Nay; but we will serve the LORD.

  • It’s time to turn to the Lord Jesus Christ and follow after Him. Let’s go where He goes.
  • Will it be easy? Of course not. Read the Bible. If you want easy, it won’t be following Jesus Christ.
  • But I can guarantee you that you’ll have the best protector in existence. He never promises easy.
  • It’s going to be difficult, but God will be with you and that’s all you need. It’s time to wake up.

[31] Proverbs 20:8 A king that sitteth in the throne of judgment scattereth away all evil with his eyes.

  • With wisdom, comes understanding. As the leader of my home, it’s my job to take a look around.
  • Do I see evil? What is my wife doing? What are my children doing? What are we doing at church?
  • Is there any evil making it’s way into this church? Is there any evil making it’s way into my family?
  • For example, we have to be very careful with the music we choose to listen to.
  • Music is a gateway to evil things. If you don’t think so, you are seriously deceived.
  • And yes, I lost that battle earlier in my life. I allowed music to take me into evil things.

God can easily see these things, and He’s giving you that wisdom to see these things too.

  • For example, Bethel music and Hillsong are not singing about the God of this Bible.
  • They sing about a false god that they made up who loves everyone no matter what and all the time.
  • They don’t sing about hell, the fear of God, the anger of God, or the wrath of God. Why is that?
  • Their false god doesn’t have any of those things. Their god doesn’t get angry, jealous, or have wrath.
  • Yes, their music sounds very good and makes you feel good. They play on your emotions and feelings.

[32] Ezekiel 28:13-14 Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone was thy covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in the day that thou wast created. 14 Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire.

  • This is talking about Satan. “The workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in the day that thou wast created.”
  • Satan was a covering cherub who was very good with music. Remember that.
  • Music can pull you into some very evil things. I would guess music is number one in doing this.
  • So, remember to be on the lookout for these things. Scatter away all evil with your eyes.

[33] Proverbs 20:9 Who can say, I have made my heart clean, I am pure from my sin?

  • Can anyone say that they’ve done this on their own?
  • Many religious people think this, but they are deceived. The Pharisees thought they did.

[34] Job 14:4 Who can bring a clean thing out of an unclean? not one.

[35] Job 15:14 What is man, that he should be clean? and he which is born of a woman, that he should be righteous?

[36] Job 25:4 How then can man be justified with God? or how can he be clean that is born of a woman?

[37] Ecclesiastes 7:20 For there is not a just man upon earth, that doeth good, and sinneth not.

[38] James 3:2 For in many things we offend all. If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man, and able also to bridle the whole body.

[39] 1 John 1:8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

[40] 1 John 1:10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.

  • Again, none of us are pure. None of us can say that we have made our heart clean.
  • None of us can say that we are pure from all sin. Proverbs Chapter 20 teaches us this.

[41] Proverbs 20:10 Divers weights, and divers measures, both of them are alike abomination to the LORD.

  • Have you known anyone who will do the same job and charge one person more than the other?
  • All types of contractors do this all the time. “Well, I didn’t want to do that job so I raised the price.”
  • “I gave them a higher price because they lived in a rich neighborhood.”
  • This is called divers weights and measures. And God HATES this.
  • “Both of them are abomination to the Lord.”

Children Are Known By Their Doings

[42] Proverbs 20:11 Even a child is known by his doings, whether his work be pure, and whether it be right.

  • Children will show you if they have good or evil within them.
  • I’ve known children that wouldn’t do anything right. They wouldn’t do anything pure.
  • Everything they would do was to cause problems and troubles for other people.

[43] Genesis 21:9 And Sarah saw the son of Hagar the Egyptian, which she had born unto Abraham, mocking.

[44] 2 Kings 2:23 And he went up from thence unto Beth-el: and as he was going up by the way, there came forth little children out of the city, and mocked him, and said unto him, Go up, thou bald head; go up, thou bald head.

  • As a child, you don’t want to be a mocker. You don’t want to be like Ishmael.
  • You don’t want to be like the children who mock the prophets of God.

[45] 2 Kings 22:1-2 Josiah was eight years old when he began to reign, and he reigned thirty and one years in Jerusalem. And his mother’s name was Jedidah, the daughter of Adaiah of Boscath. 2 And he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD, and walked in all the way of David his father, and turned not aside to the right hand or to the left.

  • This is what you want to be like. Do that which is right in the sight of the Lord.
  • You get to make these choices as a child. “EVEN A CHILD IS KNOWN BY HIS DOINGS.”
  • You can make things easier for your parents, or you can make them very difficult.
  • If you make things difficult for your parents, you should be very careful because God is watching.
  • Obey your parents in the Lord.

[46] Proverbs 20:12 The hearing ear, and the seeing eye, the LORD hath made even both of them.

  • God gave you eyes to see and ears to hear. He made your eyes and your ears. USE THEM.
  • You can see and hear the words of God. Now that you can see and hear, do what He says.

[47] Psalm 94:8-9 Understand, ye brutish among the people: and ye fools, when will ye be wise? 9 He that planted the ear, shall he not hear? he that formed the eye, shall he not see?

  • God created eyes and ears. Do you not think He can see and hear what you do? He shall see and hear.
  • Remember that. God can make you blind and deaf too. Open your eyes and ears.

[48] Proverbs 20:13 Love not sleep, lest thou come to poverty; open thine eyes, and thou shalt be satisfied with bread.

  • Don’t sleep all day. Don’t love sleep. LOVE NOT SLEEP. If you do, you will become poor.
  • God made you. He works hard. It’s time for you to work hard and be satisfied with bread.
  • If you get free food and never work, you won’t be satisfied. Remember that. It’s the truth.
  • God doesn’t want you to be poor. He wants you to work and be blessed through that work you do.

[49] 2 Thessalonians 3:10 For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat.

  • Christians, why are you feeding the homeless who won’t work? God commands the opposite.
  • You are causing the homeless to sin even more against God while you sin against Him as well.
  • People would rather stand on the side of the road and ask for money than get a job.

And people give them the money for doing nothing. They aren’t producing anything.

  • According to God, they don’t eat. THEY ARE BUMS who are leaching off others.
  • They are like bloodsucking ticks and leaches. They will suck the life right out of you.
  • They will never be happy with what you give them either. They will hate you for giving them food.
  • They want money so they can spend it on whatever they want. STOP GIVING THEM MONEY.
  • STOP GIVING THEM FOOD. Tell them to get a job.

[50] Proverbs 20:14 It is naught, it is naught, saith the buyer: but when he is gone his way, then he boasteth.

  • What does this mean? Make sure you aren’t like this BUYER in this Scripture.
  • You’re buying something that you want really bad. What do many people do?
  • “It’s not worth that much. You need to lower the price.”
  • Whenever we sell something, we give people about half off the price of what something cost us.

Stop Cheating People And Pay The Price

But it’s never enough. “It is naught. It is naught. It’s not worth that much.”

  • “But when he is gone his way, then he boasteth.” This is what happens.
  • “Look at the price I got this for. I talked them into selling it to me for next to nothing.”
  • Don’t do that to people. Be fair. When something is worth a certain amount, give what it’s worth.
  • Don’t boast about how you cheated somebody out of something. Most people do this. It’s nasty.

[51] Hosea 12:7 He is a merchant, the balances of deceit are in his hand: he loveth to oppress.

[52] 1 Thessalonians 4:6 That no man go beyond and defraud his brother in any matter: because that the Lord is the avenger of all such, as we also have forewarned you and testified.

  • Don’t defraud people. Don’t steal things from people. Don’t cheat people.
  • “Because that the Lord is the avenger of all such.” You have been warned.

[53] Proverbs 20:15 There is gold, and a multitude of rubies: but the lips of knowledge are a precious jewel.

  • Gold, rubies, money, jewels, diamonds OR the lips of knowledge. Which would you rather have?
  • Would you rather win the lottery today or receive just a little bit of wisdom from God?
  • I’ll take the wisdom from God. You can have the lottery. Have lips of knowledge.
  • Lips of knowledge lead to everlasting life for others. The lottery doesn’t lead to that.

[54] Proverbs 20:16 Take his garment that is surety for a stranger: and take a pledge of him for a strange woman.

  • Remember, don’t be a surety for strangers or debts or anything. If you do, your garment will be taken.
  • You will lose the Bible says. Same thing with strange women. You will lose. Stay away from them.
  • They will take everything you have and leave you to die.

[55] Proverbs 20:17 Bread of deceit is sweet to a man; but afterwards his mouth shall be filled with gravel.

  • People love to be lied to. Why is that? For example, people don’t want to hear the truth of the Bible.
  • You’ll have more people always listening to the false preachers versus listening to truth.
  • God clearly tells you what is right and what is wrong, but you want to choose the wrong. Why?
  • “Bread of deceit is sweet to a man.” You love it for some reason.
  • “But afterwards his mouth shall be filled with gravel.”

[56] Proverbs 9:17-18 Stolen waters are sweet, and bread eaten in secret is pleasant. 18 But he knoweth not that the dead are there; and that her guests are in the depths of hell.

  • People believe they are winning when they deceive people, steal, lie, and cheat.
  • They think they are winners. They think their spoils are sweet. And it might be for just a little while.
  • They are going down to death faster and faster. They will see that it’s not pleasant and sweet.
  • Wake up and see the truth before it’s too late. Open your eyes and your ears and hear God’s words.

[57] Proverbs 20:18 Every purpose is established by counsel: and with good advice make war.

  • God gives you good counsel. God tells you what to fight against. “And with good advice make war.”
  • We are to stand up and fight against evil and wicked rulers.
  • We are not to obey them as the evil churches teach. We make war against evil.
  • We are to hate the evil and love the good. We are to reject evil in every way possible. Fight it.

[58] Proverbs 20:19 He that goeth about as a talebearer revealeth secrets: therefore meddle not with him that flattereth with his lips.

  • Don’t allow people to flatter you with their lips. These same people are talebearers.
  • They will reveal secrets that they promised not to reveal. They use your secrets in their tales.
  • DO NOT MEDDLE WITH THESE PEOPLE. Stay away from them.

[59] Romans 16:17-18 Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them. 18 For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple.

  • As an example, when you have a oneness Pentecostal preacher, you should mark him.
  • He is causing divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine in the Bible. Meddle not with that man.
  • He does not serve our Lord Jesus Christ. He serves his own belly, which is usually a large belly.
  • They deceive the hearts of the simple. The simple won’t listen to and rely on the word of God for truth.

[60] Proverbs 20:20 Whoso curseth his father or his mother, his lamp shall be put out in obscure darkness.

  • Don’t mess with your Godly father and mother. Do not curse them. You will have lots of trouble.

God Warns You About Cursing Your Parents

[61] Proverbs 30:17 The eye that mocketh at his father, and despiseth to obey his mother, the ravens of the valley shall pick it out, and the young eagles shall eat it.

  • Listen to your parents and obey your parents. They are trying to help you and guide you the right way.
  • Why would you curse the 2 people who care the most about you in this world right now?
  • The ravens of the valley shall pick out your eyes and the young eagles shall eat it.
  • This is God’s word. And you should be afraid to break His words. OBEY YOUR PARENTS.

[62] Proverbs 20:21 An inheritance may be gotten hastily at the beginning; but the end thereof shall not be blessed.

  • Someone in the family dies and everyone runs to get their inheritance. We’ve all seen this happen.
  • The end thereof shall not be blessed. And you’ve seen that result as well. Those people aren’t blessed.
  • They could care less about the people who died. They just want their money.

[63] Proverbs 28:20 A faithful man shall abound with blessings: but he that maketh haste to be rich shall not be innocent.

[64] Proverbs 28:22 He that hasteth to be rich hath an evil eye, and considereth not that poverty shall come upon him.

[65] 1 Timothy 6:9 But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition.

  • The Bible commands us to LABOR NOT TO BE RICH. We don’t work because we want to be rich.
  • We don’t run for the inheritance so we can get everything we can before others get to it.
  • If so, we will come to poverty the Bible says. Let them have it.
  • I don’t want riches, and I don’t want poverty. Riches lead to temptation and snares. We don’t want that.

[66] Proverbs 20:22 Say not thou, I will recompense evil; but wait on the LORD, and he shall save thee.

  • When someone does you wrong, SAY NOT THOU: “I will get them back.”
  • Do not repay evil with evil. What does the Bible tell you to do? WAIT ON THE LORD.
  • He shall save you. Do you understand that? Be calm. Be patient. Wait on Him. He’ll take care of it.

[67] Psalm 27:14 Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD.

[68] Psalm 37:34 Wait on the LORD, and keep his way, and he shall exalt thee to inherit the land: when the wicked are cut off, thou shalt see it.

[69] Isaiah 40:31 But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

[70] Lamentations 3:25 The LORD is good unto them that wait for him, to the soul that seeketh him.

  • Always remember this. WAIT ON THE LORD. Don’t take things into your own hands. God has this.

God Hates When People Charge Specific People More For The Same Thing

[71] Proverbs 20:23 Divers weights are an abomination unto the LORD; and a false balance is not good.

  • God repeats this same doctrine or teaching over and over throughout the Bible.
  • This means He is very serious about these words. Do not cheat people.
  • Charge the same for the same thing no matter who it is.
  • “Well, I don’t like that person so I charge them more.” Yeah, keep on because God is watching.
  • If you love to go things that God hates, you’re in big trouble.

[72] Proverbs 20:24 Man’s goings are of the LORD; how can a man then understand his own way?

  • Our goings are of the Lord. What are you doing with your life? Where are you headed?
  • What is your purpose? Do you truly know? Have you known at all times what you are doing?
  • Of course you haven’t. We’ve all been confused. God says so, and He tells you the truth.
  • Most of the time we have no clue what we’re doing, where we’re going, or our purpose.
  • This is because man’s goings are of the Lord. We cannot understand His ways. We think we know better.
  • But we don’t. A man who is faithful will begin to depend on the Lord and to follow His ways.

If you want to go the right way, we simply follow God’s ways.

  • We have no clue if we’re going the right way unless we are following God.
  • Is this the right choice? Should I move here, or should I move there? Should I take this job or not?
  • We need to follow God at all times and forsake everything else. Then, we’ll be going the right way.

[73] Acts 17:28 For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring.

  • We only live through Him. We only move through Him. We only see and hear because of Him.
  • So, we need to follow His ways. He will direct our paths. And then you won’t be so confused.

[74] Proverbs 20:25 It is a snare to the man who devoureth that which is holy, and after vows to make inquiry.

  • Many people act on something and then they inquire afterwards if they were right or wrong.
  • No, you need to know if something is right or wrong to begin with. Don’t wait until afterwards.
  • “Well, I will try this and see what’s so bad about it.” Don’t do that.

For example, choosing a church. Many people just blindly choose a church that is close to where they live.

  • Church is very important. They go to that church their entire life and never learn anything.
  • But they thought it was good to do so. They devoured that which is holy.
  • They cared less for God and His words.

At the end of their life when it’s all over, they inquire of what happened. What did I do with my life?

  • Why did I go to that church filled with lies? Why did I support a church that preached a false gospel?
  • Why didn’t I choose that which is good to begin with? THIS IS A TRAP AND A SNARE.
  • It’s happening all over this world right now. People are being deceived into NOT worshipping God.
  • Know right and wrong BEFORE you make a choice. Don’t make horrible choices.

[75] Proverbs 20:26 A wise king scattereth the wicked, and bringeth the wheel over them.

  • King David was a wise king for most of his life. He made some bad decisions but generally was very wise.
  • He would scatter the wicked. Jesus Christ will scatter the wicked, and bring a wheel over them.
  • What does this mean? The wicked will always be in bondage.

[76] 2 Samuel 12:31 And he brought forth the people that were therein, and put them under saws, and under harrows of iron, and under axes of iron, and made them pass through the brickkiln: and thus did he unto all the cities of the children of Ammon. So David and all the people returned unto Jerusalem.

  • King David fought the Ammonites, conquered them, and put them in bondage.
  • They worked under a wheel. They served the children of Israel.
  • Jesus Christ will throw people into hell. They will not have a party in hell.

[77] Proverbs 20:27 The spirit of man is the candle of the LORD, searching all the inward parts of the belly.

  • Our life comes from the Lord and Him alone. Every person is alive because of God.
  • Our spirit is the candle of the Lord. It’s His light that gives us life.

[78] John 1:4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men.

  • The life from God is within every single person but most people reject the light within.
  • They would rather put that light out and live in the darkness. Every person can be saved.
  • This spirit of man is the candle of the Lord. Don’t reject Him. He’s searching for you.
  • He wants you to be saved. Simply believe on Jesus Christ and be saved. It’s so easy and simple.
  • But most people won’t do it.

God Is Merciful Or We Would All Be Dead

[79] Proverbs 20:28 Mercy and truth preserve the king: and his throne is upholden by mercy.

  • We are only preserved by God’s mercy and God’s truth. That’s it.
  • Without a merciful God, we would be toast. Without God’s truth, we would be in hell forever.

[80] Proverbs 20:29 The glory of young men is their strength: and the beauty of old men is the gray head.

  • Young men are strong and this is their glory. Old men are wise and this is their beauty.
  • Not all old men are wise, though. Don’t you want to be wise? Then you need to hear God’s words.
  • Most older people that I’ve spoken with reject God. Why are you rejecting God, you fool?
  • Gray hair doesn’t mean you are wise.
  • Whether or not God’s words live within you determine whether or not you are wise.
  • Listen, don’t glory in your strength or in your old age. Watch what God says.

[81] Jeremiah 9:23-24 Thus saith the LORD, Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches: 24 But let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me, that I am the LORD which exercise lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these things I delight, saith the LORD.

  • We should only glory in the Lord. We should glory that we know and understand God Almighty.
  • We don’t say, “Look at my strength everyone. Look at my wisdom. Look at me.”
  • “Hear MY TESTIMONY. Hear MY GREATNESS. Look at what I’ve done.” No, we glory IN THE LORD.
  • We delight God when we glory in Him and not in ourselves and all these other things.
  • Let’s move to the very last verse in Proverbs Chapter 20.

[82] Proverbs 20:30 The blueness of a wound cleanseth away evil: so do stripes the inward parts of the belly.

  • When you get whipped for doing evil, you’ll think twice about doing it again.
  • When you get shame for doing wrong, this helps to keep you from doing wrong again.
  • You’ll remember that shame. You’ll remember that it was wrong.
  • This is God’s way of teaching us right and wrong. Yes, He came up with this.

But the evil men and women of this world think they know better than God.

  • They think there are better ways. Yeah right. Look at your world that you’ve created.
  • It’s not better. It’s far worse. People are dying and going to hell because of these evil men and women.
  • Let’s follow God’s ways and do things the right way. His ways lead to life.
  • I hope you’ve learned much wisdom from this sermon in Proverbs Chapter 20.
