We Believe in Soul Winning

True Words Baptist Church believes in soul winning. You might be wondering what that means. This page will explain our soul winning efforts in detail, and we hope that you will join us in these efforts.

Proverbs 11:30 says this: The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise.

This means we are a group of believers on Jesus Christ that go out into the local community and surrounding areas in an attempt to win souls to Jesus Christ.

We go out for soul winning with no other purpose than to win souls to the light of heaven and to give them the information they need to be saved from eternal hell and damnation.

Soul winning is hard work, but we do this for Jesus and Him alone.

Soul Winning Works

You will see us out and about the area teaching and preaching true words to all people in the area.

We simply give the true Gospel of Jesus Christ to people who want to listen and hear the words of the Bible.

The goal is to have as many people as possible believe on the name of Jesus Christ to save them from their sins and receive the gift of eternal life from God Himself.

In our soul winning, we invite anyone and everyone who believes on Jesus Christ to join us in these efforts. We would be so excited to have more people join us to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Many people in today’s world want to take the easy and lazy way out and that is using the Internet for everything. Yes, the Internet works, but it sure isn’t God’s chosen method.

Seeing people face to face, teaching the Gospel, listening to them, and answering their questions is what works. This is what God says to do, so face-to-face soul winning is what we will do.

What Does the Bible Say About Soul Winning?

California Square apartments in Louisville, Kentucky. True Words Baptist Church goes soul winning there.

In this section, I want to show you that the Bible tells us to go out and win souls to Jesus Christ.

Who should participate in soul winning?

All believers in Jesus Christ should be going out and winning souls. That’s me. That’s you (if you believe). And that’s all believers everywhere. If we were doing what we are supposed to do, there would be a lot more true Christians throughout this world.

Mark 16:15 says this: And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.

Matthew 28:19-20 says this: 19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: 20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

Jesus tells us Himself to “GO YE.” That means you and I both.

It doesn’t matter what Church you attend, you can join us in soul winning and learn how it’s done. Join us for any soul winning session. If you’re ready to work for God, come and join us! We would be very happy to have you.

Who do we go see during soul winning?

God does not discriminate between persons. We follow God’s example. God gives every person the chance to be saved. We don’t care who it is, we will preach the Gospel to anyone and everyone.

Mark 16:15 says this: And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.

Luke 4:18 says this: The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,

As you can see, the Bible tells us to go out to everyone. We will do the best we can to reach as many people as possible with the true Gospel of Jesus Christ.

What should we be doing in soul winning?

We should be teaching and preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Gospel means “GOOD NEWS” so most people are ready to hear good news! People like good news.

Amen.

We should also be baptizing them once they believe on Jesus Christ after hearing the Good News. We should also teach them to follow the Bible and all of God’s rules for us.

Why should we be going out to win souls to Jesus Christ?

Jesus commands us to go out and teach and preach His Gospel. When God commands us to do something, we need to be doing it.

1 Corinthians 9:16 says this: For though I preach the gospel, I have nothing to glory of: for necessity is laid upon me; yea, woe is unto me, if I preach not the gospel!

The Apostle Paul even tells us in 1 Corinthians: “Woe is unto me if I preach not the gospel!” We sure don’t want that, and want to do exactly what God wants us to do.

We also need to be soul winning because we should not want anyone to perish in everlasting fire and torments. Hell is not a good place AT ALL. It’s going to hurt very, very badly, and we should not want this for anyone. We should have a sense of urgency to go out and get people saved for this reason alone.

Luke 16:23 And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.

Revelation 14:11 says this: And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name.

Matthew 13:50 says this: And shall cast them into the furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.

We do not want anyone to perish in the furnace of fire for eternity. God says He will throw people into hell who do not believe what He says. What God says, He will do. He cannot lie.

2 Corinthians 4:3-4 says this: 4 But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: 4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.

The Gospel is hid to them that are lost. It’s time to let the light of the Glorious Gospel shine throughout all the world.

When should we be going out to win souls?

Winning souls to Christ is something we should be doing as often as possible. If we love like God loves, we should not want anyone to perish. Out of necessity, we will do our absolute best to win souls to Jesus Christ.

Matthew 28:20 says this: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

This means we should never stop soul winning until the end of the world comes. We have to keep up the great work and endure to the end. Let’s get as many people saved as we can.

Where should we be doing soul winning?

Every single person throughout this world should have the chance to be saved. God’s will is that ALL MEN AND WOMEN everywhere should come to Him and be saved. Jesus wants EVERYONE to believe on Him because He knows this is the only way to heaven. He wants everyone there with Him.

Matthew 28:19 says this: Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

Acts 1:8 says this: But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

Yes, Jesus wants us to teach and preach to all nations unto the uttermost part of the earth. This includes Shelbyville, KY and all surrounding areas. We need to be focusing on our local areas first because this is where we live.

If we do not care about our very own neighbors, we do not have the love of God within us.

How should we be winning souls to God?

This is very simple and easy, but many Christians don’t want to do this work for God. This is not easy work, and most people care what others will think about them when they follow God’s rules for us.

God tells us to go forth by two and two.

Mark 6:7 says this: And he called unto him the twelve, and began to send them forth by two and two; and gave them power over unclean spirits;

Luke 10:1 says this: After these things the Lord appointed other seventy also, and sent them two and two before his face into every city and place, whither he himself would come.

The Bible tells us to go two and two into every city and place. Shelbyville, KY hasn’t been given the true Gospel of Jesus Christ. How do I know? I’ve lived here all my life and NO ONE has ever come to my home and given me the Gospel. My wife, my parents, my sisters, and brother have never had someone give them the Gospel. We have all lived here our entire life.

So, it’s time to get this done.

Acts 5:42 says this: And daily in the temple, and in every house, they ceased not to teach and preach Jesus Christ.

Acts 20:20 says this: 20 And how I kept back nothing that was profitable unto you, but have shewed you, and have taught you publickly, and from house to house, 21 Testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks, repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.

So, during soul winning, we will go face to face and two by two from house to house teaching and preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ. This is what the Bible says to do, and this is what True Words Baptist Church will do.

How to Prepare for Soul Winning

There are many things we need to do to prepare to go out two by two and house to house teaching and preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

We’ll go over all of those steps here in this section.

Goals of Soul Winning

The primary goal of soul winning is to change people’s mind (repentance) and to get them to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ.

Simply believing Jesus Christ is the Son of God with power over life and death will allow each and every person to receive the gift of eternal life and be saved for all their sins (past, present, and future sins). This is all it takes. This is our goal.

Some people will act like you are wasting their time, but this is the most important time they could ever spend so pray that people will allow 15 minutes of their time to you. If people don’t want to be bothered, we will not give the Gospel to them. It’s their choice, and we respect that choice. God doesn’t force Himself on anyone, and we will not either.

If we do not reach this primary goal, this is okay! We will try our best. We have reached secondary goals as given in the verses below:

Ezekiel 33:9 says this: Nevertheless, if thou warn the wicked of his way to turn from it; if he do not turn from his way, he shall die in his iniquity; but thou hast delivered thy soul.

Acts 20:31 says this: Therefore watch, and remember, that by the space of three years I ceased not to warn every one night and day with tears.

If we do not reach our primary goal of saving souls, we will at least provide a warning and we will be patient toward all men. We will have compassion on those people and pray that they will see the truth.

1 Thessalonians 5:14 says this: Now we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are unruly, comfort the feebleminded, support the weak, be patient toward all men.

We hope with all that we have that the warning will be taken. The warning that we give may not take hold immediately, but we have hope that the warning will be taken over the next day or two by the people we have warned.

Ezekiel 33:5 says this: He heard the sound of the trumpet, and took not warning; his blood shall be upon him. But he that taketh warning shall deliver his soul.

Colossians 1:28 says this: Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus:

So, our primary goal is to save souls by urging people to believe on Jesus Christ alone to save them. Our secondary goal is to provide a warning to those people who don’t want to hear, listen, and accept Jesus Christ as their ONLY Savior.

Obeying God’s Commandments

If we are not successful in getting anyone saved when we go out soul winning, we followed God’s commandment to us. This means we are successful no matter what happens.

Matthew 28:19 says this: 19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: 20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

Jesus commands us to go out and teach and to baptize in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost. In order to be baptized, one must believe on the Lord Jesus Christ to save them.

Acts 8:36-37 says this: 36 And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized? 37 And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.

Success is obeying God. Again, no matter what happens, we are successful when we obey God’s words. Some days might be great days in which many souls are saved and other days might not be so great in which no one is brought to repentance and belief in Jesus Christ.

God Rewards His Laborers

You can know that you will be rewarded for your efforts and all your hard work by God Himself. All of this work must be done in faith alone. If you are a believer, you will be rewarded through your faith in Jesus Christ.

Luke 6:23 says this: Rejoice ye in that day, and leap for joy: for, behold, your reward is great in heaven: for in the like manner did their fathers unto the prophets.

We hope to receive rewards in heaven (we do not demand them or expect them as God alone gives those rewards) by doing works to glorify God in heaven. In order to get rewards in heaven, you first must have your ticket into heaven. Jesus Christ is that ticket into heaven. We do not work to glorify ourselves in any way. All glory is to God Almighty. He is doing the work within us.

Matthew 6:4 says this: That thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly.

We do not go out with a loud trumpet and cause problems and get people to look at us. We quietly go from door to door and house to house preaching the Gospel and leaving a peaceful warning to those who will not listen. We do everything in respect of the people we are visiting.

1 Corinthians 3:7-8 says this: So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase. Now he that planteth and he that watereth are one: and every man shall receive his own reward according to his own labour.

People Have Someone Here to Turn To When Needed

We will leave people our contact information in case they have further questions or need help. These people will understand that we want nothing from them. We do not take from anyone but only give what God gave us to give.

Our contact information will include all information about True Words Baptist Church.

This will give people the opportunity to visit us and to learn more about the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The Gospel of Jesus Christ is given in many of the sermons and throughout our Bible reading and Bible studies. We will always be available to those people who want to learn more about Jesus.

Your Appearance and How to Dress

All men and women need to know and understand that we are ambassadors for Jesus Christ.

2 Corinthians 5:20 says this: Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ’s stead, be ye reconciled to God.

This means we represent the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and Him alone. We don’t want to give a bad first impression to people as this may hurt our efforts to win souls.

Men should at least wear a shirt with a collar. Use common sense and look decent. Women should not wear revealing clothes like high cut shorts, low cut shirts, short skirts, or short dresses. Just look modest when you go out. We don’t do fancy. We just do modest and decent. That’s it.

Make sure you wear clothing and shoes that are comfortable as the days can be very long. If it’s a good day of soul winning, we might choose to continue longer than planned so be ready for everything.

Pray For The Person Who Is Speaking

Since we go out two by two, the person who is not speaking should continue in silent prayer while the other person is speaking.

If there is someone who is only observing, that person should also stay silent the entire time.

Do not add any distractions or speak words that change the direction of the message. We must stay on track and present the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Respect Property

We are going to people’s homes. These are not our homes and not our property.

Be respectful at all times.

Take the sidewalks to their homes even if it’s a longer walk. Don’t walk through their yards or their flower beds or their gardens or anything else. Use the driveways and sidewalks. This is an example of being respectful.

Don’t sit in their furniture. Don’t sit on their benches. Don’t touch their property in any way.

Yes, you can give compliments about their home and their yards as needed.

If you plainly see a no soliciting sign, use your personal discretion. People get tired of others trying to make money from them. We are in no way attempting to make money and are only benefiting these people. Remember that when you see a no soliciting sign.

Be Polite, Respectful, and Pleasant At All Times

If you cannot be polite, respectful, and pleasant at all times it would be best that you do not go soul winning.

You are a guest at their home. They might not want you there. All people may not accept you. They may want you off their property as soon as possible.

This is fine as this is their choice. Thank them for their time and politely leave. Do not get in arguments or raise your voice in any way.

People may treat you badly, but God is watching. Remember that and always be pleasant at all times no matter the situation.

How to Introduce Yourself During Soul Winning

The first step is to knock on the door with a firm knock. Don’t do this too softly as the people may not hear. Don’t do this too loudly as this can be perceived as rudeness.

Knock and then wait a minute. If you don’t hear anyone moving inside the home after waiting a minute, then ring the doorbell if available or knock again if the doorbell is not available. If no one answers after the second knock, make your way to the next home.

All conversation between the soul winning partners and observers should end once someone answers the door. Once the door begins to open, focus on that person. Make direct eye contact with that person and smile.

You’re coming to them so take the initiative in the conversation. Be ready and well prepared. Know what you need to say and get it done. Don’t allow for awkward silence at any time. Remember, you’re coming to them to speak so be ready and know what you’re going to say.

Here’s an example introduction: “Hi! How are you? My name is Josh. This is Pam. We’re from True Words Baptist Church, and we want to give you an invitation to Church (hand them the invitation). We wanted to see if you currently go to any Church (let them answer). More important than any church is whether or not you’re sure where you’ll spend eternity. If you died today, are you sure you’re going to heaven?””

Have your Bible marked and ready to show verses directly from the Bible.

How to Ask The Right Questions

Asking questions allows you to interact with the person and to let them know you care about what they think and believe. We care about each and every person, or we wouldn’t be spending this precious time with each of them.

So, what questions should you be asking?

Ask Questions Regarding Their Salvation

We do not know whether or not the people we talk to are saved. Even if they answer all the questions correctly, we still do not know as we cannot see a person’s heart or beliefs.

The best way to know if someone is saved is to ask them whether or not they believe what the Bible says. You can then show them verses from the Bible and ask them if they believe what the Bible says.

John 8:47 says this: He that is of God heareth God’s words: ye therefore hear them not, because ye are not of God.

We can also ask them if they have received the gift of eternal life.

Psalm 107:2 says this: Let the redeemed of the LORD say so, whom he hath redeemed from the hand of the enemy;

We need to understand where they are in their path to salvation so we can better lead them to the correct destination. Some people are close, but they aren’t yet there due to false teaching and preaching.

Example Questions to Ask During Soul Winning

Here are some examples of great questions to ask during soul winning:

Are you sure of your salvation in Jesus because of your faith or because of the good works that you do or both faith and works?

What do you think gets you into heaven? Is it your faith in Jesus Christ to save you or does it take other things like good works to get you into heaven?

Must you continue to repent of your sins and stop doing those sins the rest of your life in order to make it into heaven?

These are all detailed questions that will get straight to the point and not waste time.

Don’t Ask Vague and Bad Questions

Don’t ask people vague questions like this because they will lead to vague answers:

Are you Christian?

Do you believe in Jesus?

Are you born again?

Are you going to heaven?

Have you accepted Jesus?

The answers to the questions above won’t tell you as much as the detailed questions. You need to know if a person is saved, and the best questions will get you there fast.

If people give you any vague answers to any of the questions you ask, keep asking for more details to get them to expand on their answers. Ask more questions when vague answers are given.

Include More Than Just Questions

Don’t turn it into a court trial and just continue to shoot off more and more questions to the people you are talking with.

Have a conversation with them by showing them Bible verses and asking them questions.

Asking a sequence of questions is very important, but don’t make them feel like they are being targeted or ridiculed or questioned.

Give examples of yourself and your salvation. For example: Let them know that you are a sinner, and you have sinned and continue to sin throughout your life. If someone thinks you are judging them and calling them bad, they may not react very well. Think about how they feel when you ask them certain questions.

Ask a Sequence of the Right Questions

Here’s a layout of what the soul winning session might look like with each person:

“Hello, good afternoon. How are you doing today?”

Allow them to answer. And answer any questions they have back to you.

“We’re coming from True Words Baptist Church in Louisville Kentucky, and we wanted to give you an invitation to Church and talk with you for a few minutes if you have time.”

Allow them to stop you if they do not have time. Urge them that it will just take a few minutes if they say they don’t have time. If they no again, it’s time to thank them and head on your way.

“Do you go to church anywhere or have you gone in the past?”

Allow them to answer so you learn more about their beliefs and their desire to learn about God.

“Even more important than going to Church is where you’ll be going once you pass away from this life. Over 151,000 people die each day. If you died today, do you know whether you’re be going to heaven or hell?”

We need to understand what they believe so we can lead them to Jesus better. Each soul winning session will take its own direction, but you must stay on track and explain things in a way each person will understand. You must understand where each person is coming from.

If the person does not know for sure whether or not they are going to heaven, continue with the next question:

“If I could show you what God says about knowing for sure that you’ll go to heaven, would you be interested in seeing what the Bible says?”

If they say yes, it’s time to go to the first spot in your Bible and read those verses to them. Show them what the Bible says about salvation.

If they respond in some other way, ask for more details until you get back to what the Bible says. Always look to clearly show them what God says in His Bible as His words are True Words.

They may respond that they know for sure they are going to heaven by the good works that they do. Ask them what gives them that assurance. No one will be able to show you in the Bible that good works get you into heaven. Ask them if they have eternal security of the gift of eternal life. Do your best to understand what they believe.

Ask additional questions like this:

“What gives you assurance that you’re going to heaven?”

“What are you placing your trust in to get you to heaven?”

“Is there anything you can do to lose the gift of eternal life once you have it?”

Always focus on giving them the Gospel of Jesus Christ no matter which way the conversation begins to go. Stay in the lead and keep the conversation on track while understanding what each person believes.

Step 1: We Are All Sinners

Admitting that we are all sinners is the first step to getting someone to understand the true Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Why They Must Admit They Are Sinners

A person must recognize they are a sinner and do things against the rules that God made for His creation.

If a person does not see this, they will not need to be forgiven of their sins. If they understand that they do bad things, they are on the right track. Someone who knows they sin will want to be forgiven of those sins.

There Is None Righteous

Sometimes it’s much easier for someone to admit that they aren’t perfect before they admit they are a sinner.

This is where showing them verses in the Bible will greatly help because God’s words have power. God’s words are the words that will bring them to be saved.

Romans 3:10 says this: As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:

God tells us that there is no righteous person in the world and then He repeats it again by saying, “no, not one.” Righteous means doing “right” at all times and never doing wrong. Another word for righteous is perfection. This simply means that there is no perfect person.

Ask them: “Do you see what the Bible says? Do you believe that there’s no one that’s perfect? I’m definitely not perfect, and you aren’t perfect. Both of us mess up all the time. I mess up every day.”

All Have Sinned

We don’t want people to go on the offensive by telling them they are sinners without explaining this properly. Some people will react very negatively if they believe you are judging them.

This is why we first start by letting people know that no one is perfect. Include yourself and your partner so they know both of you are sinners too.

Use the Bible to show them that we are all sinners.

Romans 3:23 says this: For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

Tell them: “This means that all of us have sinned against God. This is me and this is you. The Bible tells us that sin is doing something against God’s law. When we break God’s law, we sin. According to the Bible, we are all sinners. Some examples of sin are lying, stealing, wanting something other people have, using God’s name as a cuss word, and looking on a man or woman with lust. I don’t know about you, but I have committed all of those things in my life at some time. This means I am a sinner. Would you agree that you’re also a sinner?”

Remember that this is a conversation and not a speech. Keep them involved by asking them questions.

Use questions like this:

Are you familiar with the term sin? Can I show you what the Bible tells us about sin?

Give them easy answers to questions to keep them involved. If they want to talk, allow them to talk but do your best to keep the conversation on track.

Make sure you have Romans 3:10 and Romans 3:23 marked in your Bible. These are the first verses you will use in Soul Winning.

Step 2: The Result Of Our Sin

Now that the person knows they are a sinner and have done things that go against God’s law, it’s time to learn what happens as a result of our sin.

The Payment For Our Sin

The Bible tells us that the “wages” of sin is death. This means we earn the right to die through the sins we commit. This is why all people must face death in their life. And death is the scariest thing anyone will ever face in their life.

Romans 5:12 says this: Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:

Romans 6:23 says this: For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Don’t focus on the second part of Romans 6:23 at this time. Stay focused on the first part of the Bible verse for now. We will get to the second part of the verse soon.

Tell them: “The Bible tells us that the wages of sin is death. This means we earn death through the sins we commit. This is why all people must die because there’s no one perfect. When we go to work, we earn our wages or paycheck. When we sin, we earn our wages which is death.”

Ask Them: “According to the Bible, we must make a payment for the sins that we make in our life. Do you remember what the wages of sin is? What do we earn by sinning and doing things against God’s rules?”

What is Death?

The Bible teaches us that there are two deaths. There is a physical death which is the first death and there is a second death called hell.

The goal of each soul winning session is to make sure that person is saved from the second death.

Make sure the person knows that there are 2 deaths because this is what the Bible says. Ask them if they have ever heard of a second death? Most people haven’t. Show them with the Bible.

Revelation 20:14-15 says this: 14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. 15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

Tell them: “The Bible tells us that the first death is a physical death and the second death is the lake of fire. Being thrown into a lake of fire for eternity sure doesn’t sound very good to me.”

Ask Them: “Do you see what the Bible calls the second death? Hell and the lake of fire is the second death. Would you agree with me that we don’t to go to the lake of fire?”

Understand Death and Hell

Once we have shown them the Bible verses about death and hell, we need to ensure they understand death and hell.

We all earn the first and second death through the sin we choose to commit. Sin is what causes death and hell. If we have sin, our destination is hell.

Since no one wants to go to hell to burn for eternity, we need to know how to get out of this. God tells us how in the Bible.

Ask Them: “Would you like to see what the Bible says we need to do to be saved from hell? It’s actually very easy and simple, and you can do it today to ensure you are saved from death and hell.”

Most people who have listened to this point will be very interested.

Step 3: The Destination For All of Man is Hell

A person who does not understand that they sin will not be interested in a Savior. A person who does not understand the result of sin (hell) most likely won’t be interested in a Savior.

If there is no result for sin, most people aren’t going to be worried about it and will continue to sin as much as they want. For these people, even the worst of sins can be explained away and all wickedness is acceptable. This view is everywhere throughout this world.

So, people must fully understand they are condemned to hell because of sin. It’s not just them, but it’s everyone who is condemned to hell unless they follow God’s way out.

One Sin Sends You To Hell

Most people think they are pretty good people. You can ask them if they consider themselves to be a “good” person. Most people will say yes because they try to live a good life, help others, go to church, feed the homeless, etc, etc.

Or, people believe they are not too bad because other people are worse than they are and commit more sin than they do. So, we need to show people that one sin can send them to hell. When it comes to salvation, it only takes one sin to go to hell.

James 2:10 says this: For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.

The Bible tells us that one offense is enough to be found guilty of all. So the Bible tells us that we are all sinners and a single sin is enough to be sent to hell.

Good Works Do Not Save You

The Bible tells us that all of our righteousnesses are like filthy rags before God Almighty. This means that we might think we do good things to earn our way to heaven or to make up for something we’ve done wrong, but these things mean nothing when it comes to being saved.

Isaiah 64:6 says this: But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.

Psalm 14:3 says this: They are all gone aside, they are all together become filthy: there is none that doeth good, no, not one.

So we might think we are good, but in the eyes of God we are not good because we are sinners. We can only become good through a Savior that saves us from all of our sins.

Show people the truth through the words in the Bible:

Revelation 21:8 says this: But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.

Show them that the list above is a pretty bad list of things, but also show them that is says all liars shall have their part in the lake of fire.

Tell them: “That list of things has some pretty bad things in it. Most people aren’t murderers or sorcerers, but all people have lied before. Have you ever told a lie before? I have. And we’ve both probably done much worse than that. This means we are both liars because we’ve told lies at some point in our life. God is simply trying to tell us that we’re all sinners, and that we’ve all done things against the laws He set for us. God knows we are not perfect and have sinned against him. Because of sin, we will be sent to hell unless we are saved from all of our sins.”

So a single lie will send you to hell because breaking one law is just liking breaking all of His laws. God says it doesn’t matter which ones you’ve broken.

James 2:10 says this: For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.

Ask them: “Do you see how no matter how good of a person you are that a single sin can condemn you to hell? The Bible tells us that we aren’t good people because God’s definition of good is perfect. And none of us are perfect so we all need to be forgiven of our sins.”

Quick Review of the Bad News

We earn our right to death through sin. The penalty for sin is death.

This isn’t just a physical death but a second death in the lake of fire.

The Bible tells us that every person is condemned to hell because of their sin.

If we have no sin, we wouldn’t die and we wouldn’t need to worry about hell.

1 John 1:8 says this: If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

Everyone sins throughout their life so we’re all destined to go to hell unless we receive the Good News from God.

Ensure all people understand this during your soul winning sessions with them. This is very important for every person to understand.

Step 4: The Gift of God to All Who Believe on Him

Now is the time to transition over to the GOOD NEWS. Now is the time to let the people know about the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Transition to the Good News

So far, the person should know that they are a sinner and their sin causes death and hell.

They might be worried or upset because of what they’ve learned up to this point.

But, let them know that GOOD NEWS is on the way and that’s why you’ve come today.

Salvation or Being Saved From Sin is a Gift From God

Eternal life means that you have everlasting life that never ends. Though you may die a physical death, you are passed from death to life if you choose to take the gift from God.

John 5:24 says this: Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.

A gift is always FREE to the person receiving the gift. If you have to pay for a gift, it’s not a gift. The gift of eternal life from God Himself is free, and it doesn’t cost us anything.

We don’t work for a gift, and you especially don’t earn a gift in any way. If you have to work for it or earn it, it’s not a gift.

This is the GREATEST NEWS EVER! God is giving us a free gift that is so MUCH better than any other gift. All we need to do is take the gift.

God Wants To Give You A Gift Right Now

Do you remember Romans 6:23 from earlier?

Romans 6:23 says this: For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Ask them: “If there was one thing you could have in all of life, it would probably be not to die. Right? When you get down to it, death ends everything for us. No one wants to burn in hell. The largest amount of money in the world can’t buy you happiness and it definitely can’t get you out of dying. You can’t bribe God with money. Wouldn’t you want the gift of eternal life? Everyone should want that gift. I know I want it. Do you?”

Let them know that God has gift for them, and when a gift comes from God Almighty, you better believe it’s an amazing gift. This gift is eternal life, and it’s through the Son of God, Jesus Christ of Nazareth.

Ask them: “It’s easy to remember that God is giving us a gift. Can you remember the words gift, eternal life, and Jesus Christ? If you can remember those, you’ll understand everything we’ve talked about today.”

You Don’t Work For A Gift

Ask them: “If I gave you a gift for Christmas, and I told you that you’re going to have to pay for it by doing some work for me; is that a gift? No, that’s not a gift because I’m asking you to pay for some of it or all of it. You simply do not work for a gift. The gift of God is the exact same. You don’t work for God’s gift. Someone else pays for a gift and not the person receiving the gift. God NEVER says you have to work for His gift of eternal life. He wants to give it to you.”

Show them verses from the Bible:

Ephesians 2:8 says this: 8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Tell them: “God Himself in His Bible says that He is giving you a gift and that you don’t work for that gift. Do you understand what the Bible is saying? This is GOOD NEWS!”

Romans 4:5 says this: But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.

Ask them: “The Bible says you don’t have to work for the gift of eternal life in any way. There is not any amount of good work you can do to earn such a gift. This means you don’t have to go to Church to be saved, you don’t have to be baptized to be saved, you don’t have to repent of your sins to be saved, you don’t have to live a holy life to be saved. If you had to do all of those things to earn the gift of eternal life, would it be a gift?”

Acts 8:20 says this: But Peter said unto him, Thy money perish with thee, because thou hast thought that the gift of God may be purchased with money.

Ensure the person fully understands this point as it is very important. We must understand that the gift of eternal life has nothing to do with our works.

Step 5: The True Gospel of Jesus Christ

Now we move to the most important part of Soul Winning. Let’s recap what they have learned so far as you’ve been talking to them.

Here’s What We’ve Learned So Far

We are all sinners.

We have all earned the wages of sin and that is death. The penalty of sin is death and hell.

Salvation is the gift of eternal life and that gift is free. We do not work for this gift or earn this gift. Someone else has already paid for the gift.

Now, we want to show them who paid for the free gift of eternal life.

What Does Gospel Mean?

The word Gospel means GOOD NEWS or good tidings.

Isaiah 61:1 says this: The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;

Luke 2:10 says this: And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.

Romans 10:15 says this: And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!

We are to be bringing the GOOD NEWS and glad tidings to people everywhere. Let’s do this.

What Exactly Is The Gospel?

The Bible tells us all about the Gospel in the verses below:

1 Corinthians 15:1-6 says this: 1 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; 2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. 3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; 4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures: 5 And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: 6 After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep.

The Gospel of Jesus Christ is His death on the cross, the burial of His body, and His resurrection. Jesus appeared after His resurrection to MANY witnesses.

If Jesus died on the cross and arose in His body, this is proof that He has power over life and death and that He is the Son of God! Jesus defeated death and hell because His Father raised Him from the dead and gave Him all power over life and death.

The gift of eternal life was purchased by God for you, for I, and for all people who will believe the Gospel of Jesus Christ. That’s it. Believe, and you will receive.

Acts 20:28 says this: Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.

Christ has given us the opportunity to be redeemed by believing on Him to save us.

Galatians 3:13 says this: Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:

The definition of redeemed: A purchase by payment of ransom.

We were being held ransom by sin, and God has purchased us once we believe what He says. It’s that simple. Once God purchases you, you are His possession.

Revelation 5:9 says this: And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation;

Explaining the Gospel of Jesus Christ

Let’s look to the Bible first and show them these verses:

Romans 5:8 says this: But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

John 3:16 says this: For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

A free gift for you doesn’t mean someone else didn’t pay for that gift. God paid for the gift with His own blood. He wants to give you the gift today. He’s the Giver. You’re the receiver. God paid for the gift so you have to do no work for it. The death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ was the payment. It’s done.

Jesus Christ was conceived of the Holy Ghost and was born of a virgin named Mary. His Father is God and His mother is Mary. Jesus lived a sinless life and did not deserve death like you and I. Yet, He went to the cross and died because of His great love for us. He died as a sacrifice to pay for your sins, my sins, and all sins of all time. When Jesus died, His body was buried and His soul went to hell. He arose from the dead in His body on the third day.

Matthew 1:20-25 says this: 20 But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost. 21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins. 22 Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, 23 Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us. 24 Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife: 25 And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS.

Acts 2:31 says this: He seeing this before spake of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not left in hell, neither his flesh did see corruption.

2 Corinthians 5:20-21 says this: 20 Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ’s stead, be ye reconciled to God. 21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

Philippians 2:6-8 says this: 6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: 7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: 8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

Colossians 1:14 says this: In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:

1 John 3:5 says this: And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin.

Review The Gospel

Tell them the true Gospel of Jesus Christ. Tell them about Jesus.

Ask them: “The Bible tells us all about Jesus. Do you believe the Bible is true? Do you believe that Jesus died, was buried, His soul went to hell, and He arose in His body from the dead? Do you know that Jesus already paid for all your sins? This means all your past sins, your present sins, and all your future sins. He’s covered all of them. This is Good News!”

The Gospel of Jesus Christ is the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ of Nazareth.

We are saved from our sins by believing the Gospel.

The gift of eternal life only comes through the preaching, teaching, and understanding of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

The Gospel is GOOD NEWS because it gives you the gift of eternal life. It’s a free gift.

This is soul winning! The Gospel wins souls to Christ. We don’t win the souls. Jesus wins the souls!

Step 6: Eternal Life Is Everlasting And Never Ends

For some reason, the Christians in this area have been taught that eternal life can be lost unless they continue to repent of their sins and do good works.

Eternal life is eternal. This means it is everlasting life that NEVER ends. This is what the Bible teaches, but man has corrupted the Gospel and created their own gospel with ZERO power.

The true Gospel has power because Jesus is backing that Gospel. What God says it what goes. God’s words are True Words. The rest are lies.

Life That Never Ends is Everlasting Life

God, who cannot lie, promises to give us eternal life once we believe the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He doesn’t promise to give us the gift sometime later. He doesn’t ask us to keep working for it. He gives it to us at the moment we believe on Jesus.

Titus 1:2 says this: In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began;

John 3:15-16 says this: That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. 16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Let’s look at these definitions:

Everlasting = lasting forever
Eternal = without end or never ending

It’s pretty simple if you just listen to the words God uses. He says He will GIVE us eternal life OR everlasting life if we believe on His Son. That’s it.

When Does Eternal Life Begin?

For some reason (false teaching), I thought I would receive eternal life later in my life after I had done enough good things to get it. This is completely wrong, and I am so glad I have found the truth with God’s words. This came by reading His words as they are TRUE WORDS!

John 3:36 says this: He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.

1 John 5:11 says this: And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.

Once we believe on the Son of God, Jesus Christ of Nazareth, we are saved! He HAS GIVEN us eternal life. It’s really that simple. This is GOOD NEWS! This is soul winning. It’s easy to understand, and it’s easy to believe on Jesus Christ. God made it all very easy for us, but some people want to make it hard so people are sent to hell.

How To Present Eternal Life

Make sure you show them the verses below:

John 3:15-16 says this: That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. 16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Many people know some or part of these verses as John 3:16 was the most popular Bible verse for many years. It’s actually very sad that Matthew 7:1 “Judge not, that ye be judged” is now the most popular because this is used out of context by people who want to continue living in sin.

Tell them: “God Himself wants to give you eternal life right now if you would simply believe with all your heart that Jesus is the Son of God who can save you from your sins. This is what the Bible says. If you believe the Bible is the truth, you must see what God says. This means that when you die the physical death that the second death has no power over you. Instead of going into the lake of fire, you go to live with God for eternity.”

Revelation 20:6 says this: Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.

Ask them: “So, do you remember when you receive the gift of eternal life? Do you receive it once you believe or once you do enough good works to receive the gift? Do you see how God wants to give you eternal life that never ends? This is what God wants for all people. That means you and I.”

Eternal Life Cannot Be Lost

God promises eternal life once you believe on Jesus Christ. This is what the Bible says. God cannot lie.

Titus 1:2 says this: In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began;

If God promises you something, you can know 100% that God will give you the promise he made. If you can’t trust God, you can’t trust anyone. The gift of eternal life has nothing to do with your works, so there’s nothing you can do to lose it either. It all depends on Jesus Christ ALONE.

Ephesians 2:8 says this: For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

God clearly tells us that the gift of eternal life is not of yourselves. This means you can’t do enough to gain it, you can’t do enough to keep it, and you can’t do enough to lose it.

Once you believe on the Savior, ALL your sins are forgiven. This doesn’t just mean the ones you’ve committed so far in life. If you weren’t forgiven for all your sins, this sure wouldn’t be good news because NONE of us would make it. We all mess up and continue to sin the rest of our lives. God guarantees us eternal life because ALL your sins (past, present, and future) HAVE BEEN forgiven already. You are forgiven!

Ask them: “If God gives you the gift of eternal life or never ending life today and then He takes it away because you do something really bad, was it everlasting life? Did it last forever? If God takes away everlasting life for ANY reason, this means God is a liar. God for sure is not a liar. So all of these people who are teaching others they can lose eternal life, they are the liars.”

Show them the verses below:

1 John 5:10-13 says this: 10 He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son. 11 And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. 12 He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. 13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.

Ask them: “Do you think God would take away the gift of eternal life even though it lasts forever? Why would He call it everlasting life if it ends at any time? Do you see?”

Summarize the Gift of Eternal Life

Your salvation is eternally secure because God promised it would last forever. I didn’t make the promise. God made the promise.

This means once you are saved, you are always saved. Other “christians” like to make fun of people who believe this, but this is what the Bible says. Those who believe what God says are the ones who are saved.

Let me clearly state this: True Words Baptist Church believes ONCE SAVED ALWAYS SAVED! There is no confusion. God says HE HAS PROMISED eternal life, and once you believe on Him you HAVE received the gift of eternal life.

Eternal Life Does Not Mean It’s Okay To Live In Sin

Many churches will not preach or teach the true Gospel because they, for some reason, believe people will just continue to do whatever they want and live in sin.

The truth is that when people are saved they receive the Holy Spirit. This Spirit of God will teach them and lead them. If you continue to live in sin, you will grieve the Holy Spirit, and you’ll want to stop sinning. You’ll want to do better for God. Will you ever be perfect in your flesh? No. The Bible says so.

Follow what the Bible says, and don’t make up your own rules.

Churches want people to depend on them and to keep coming back to give that offering. Not all but most.

Let me make this clear: If someone believes that eternal life can be lost, they do not believe the words in the Bible. It’s ETERNAL LIFE! This means that person is not saved. People who won’t accept the words directly from God are not saved. God says so in the Bible.

If someone believes that the gift of eternal life depends on how they live their life, they are not saved. Someone who believes they need to do things to keep their salvation are not saved. The Bible clearly states that the gift of eternal life doesn’t depend on your works (good or bad).

Someone who does not believe in eternal security is not saved because they will not believe God. They have created their own false god that has NO POWER. When you believe eternal life depends on your works, this is called Works Based Salvation. This is a false teaching that sends people straight to hell.

Once You Have Eternal Life, Can You Lose It?

You might hear some people say things like: “Well, I have eternal life unless I murder someone. Then I have lost it.”

Or, you might hear someone say: “If I kill myself, I have lost eternal life.”

And I say this in response: “Show me where the Bible says anything like this because it doesn’t!”

King Saul killed himself. Did he go to heaven? Yes, he did because he had already received the gift of eternal life. Samuel directly said that King Saul would be with him in heaven. You can count on that.

King David had a man murdered over a woman. Did King David go to hell because he murdered someone? Oh no. He did not. You can know King David is in heaven with God right now.

So what sins are bad enough that you would lose the gift of eternal life? You can’t make up your own rules and pick and choose what you want. God sets the rules. His rules are TRUE.

Ask them: “So, is there anything you can do to lose the gift of eternal life? What do you think?”

If they answer correctly, you’re well on your way in this Soul Winning session.

Accepting God’s Gift

The final step in Soul Winning is to make sure the person believes on Jesus Christ:

Do you understand that you’re a sinner and that you’ve earned death and hell?

Do you believe that Jesus Christ died on the cross, was buried, went to hell, and arose from the dead in His body as a sacrifice for ALL your sins?

Do you believe that salvation doesn’t depend on your works in any way?

Do you believe that God wants to save you right now and give you the gift of eternal life if you simply believe on the Son of God to save you?

If you believe all of these things, let’s lock it all down for you right now.

Let’s call upon the Lord right now, and ask Him to save you:

“Dear Father God, I know I’m a sinner and deserve death and hell. But, I believe that you’ve given me the way to life through your Son, Jesus Christ. I believe that Jesus was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, died on the cross for all sins, was buried, went to hell, and rose in His body from the dead to pay for all my sins, including past, present, and future sins. I know that only Jesus can save me, and I put all my trust in Him. Right now, I ask you to save me through my faith in Jesus by forgiving me of all that I’ve done wrong against you. Please take me to heaven when I die as you promise in the Bible. Thank you so much for giving me eternal life. I ask to now receive the Holy Spirit, which seals my soul from sin. In the name of Jesus Christ I pray, Amen.”

What’s Next After Soul Winning?

A person being baptized in water at True Words Baptist Church in Louisville, Kentucky.

If someone is saved through your soul winning efforts, we do not want to just leave them alone and never help them.

Let’s find out what to do next.

Don’t Just Leave Them Standing At The Door

We want to continue to help that person learn more about God.

Once someone is truly saved, they will most likely want to learn more about God, His words, and will want to follow God with all that they have. They will probably be thankful to God for the amazing gift that He’s given them.

1 Peter 2:2 says this: As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:

Matthew 28:19 says this: 19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: 20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

We need to continue to do all we can to help and guide new believers. This is where the Church comes into play, and this is one of the reasons for the Church. Our goal is to help guide people now that they have accepted Jesus Christ as their Savior.

Next Steps For A New Believer

These are the next steps for a new believer:

1. Received salvation and the gift of eternal life (possibly through soul winning or some other way such as reading the word of God).

2. Baptism.

3. Become a disciple and follow Jesus Christ.

Ask them if they would like to be baptized at Church this Sunday or sooner. Baptism is one of the first good works they can do to receive rewards in heaven. They now have their ticket into heaven, but they might want to build on that and receive rewards in heaven.

Invite them to Church this week. If they have any objection, see what they might be. If they need a ride to Church, ask them if it would be okay if someone comes to pick them up.

If they want to come to Church, get their contact information:

First Name
Last Name
Full Address
Cell Phone Number
Email Address

If they don’t want to come to Church, ask them if it’s okay if you get their email address. Explain that we have a website in which they can learn more about the Bible and find all the sermons from Church. They can learn a lot just from going to the website. We have an email list in which we send emails that will help them grow in Jesus.

Ask them: “Would you mind if we got your email address and add you to our email list? We’ll send you great information on the Bible so you can learn more.”

Overview of Soul Winning

Pray at all times.

Dress modestly, respectfully, comfortably.

Respect property.

Be polite, respectful, pleasant under all circumstances.

Knock the door first. Wait. Ring Doorbell if no answer. Wait. Leave materials if no answer.

Here’s an example script that will help you prepare:

“Hi! How are you? My name is Josh. This is Pam. We’re from True Words Baptist Church, and we want to give you an invitation to Church (hand them the invitation).”

“We wanted to see if you currently go to any Church (let them answer) or stopped going for some reason?”

“More important than any church is whether or not you’re sure where you’ll spend eternity. Over 151,000 people die each day. So, if you died today, are you sure you’re going to heaven?”

“If I could show you what God says in the Bible about knowing for sure that you’ll go to heaven, would you be interested in seeing what the Bible says?”

Turn to Romans 3:10: “As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:”

“God tells us that there is no righteous person in the world and then He repeats it again by saying, “no, not one.” Righteous means doing “right” at all times and never doing wrong. Another word for righteous is perfection. This simply means that there is no perfect person.”

“Do you see what the Bible says? Do you believe that there’s no one that’s perfect? I’m definitely not perfect, and you aren’t perfect. Both of us mess up all the time. I mess up every day. In other words, according to God, we aren’t good people because good is perfect.”

Turn to Romans 3:23: “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.”

“This means that all of us have sinned against God.

“Now that we understand we’re sinners, let’s see the result of our sin because every action in our life causes a reaction. Let’s see what the Bible says. Are you with me?”

Turn to Romans 6:23: “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”

“So the Bible tells us that the wages of sin is death. This means we earn death through the sins we commit. This is why all people must die because there’s no one perfect. When we go to work, we earn our wages or paycheck. When we sin, we earn our wages which is death.”

“According to the Bible, we must make a payment for the sins that we make in our life. Do you remember what the wages of sin is? What do we earn by sinning and doing things against God’s rules?”

“Next I want to talk about death because most people don’t understand what happens when we die. Did you know there are actually 2 deaths? The Bible tells us this. Let me show you.”

Turn to Revelation 20:14-15: “And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.”

“The Bible tells us that the first death is a physical death and the second death is the lake of fire. Being thrown into a lake of fire for eternity sure doesn’t sound very good to me.”

Ask Them: “Do you see what the Bible calls the second death? Hell and the lake of fire is the second death. Would you agree with me that we don’t to go to the lake of fire? Let me show you this in the Bible.”

Turn to Revelation 21:8: “But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.”

“So that list of things has some pretty bad things in it. Most people aren’t murderers or sorcerers, but all people have lied before. Have you ever told a lie before? I have. I’ve told plenty of lies. And we’ve both probably done much worse than that. This means we are both liars because we’ve told lies at some point in our life. All people have lied before. God is simply trying to tell us that we’re all sinners, and that we’ve all done things against the laws He set for us. God knows we are not perfect and have sinned against him. Because of sin, we will be sent to hell unless we are saved from all of our sins.”

“Let’s do a quick recap so far. We earn our right to death through sin. The penalty for sin is death. This isn’t just a physical death but also a second death in hell. We know that all people including you and I are condemned to hell because we win.”

“So we all earn the first physical death and the second death in hell because of the sins we commit. We’re just not perfect. Would you like to see what the Bible says that we need to do to be saved from our sins and forgiven of all sins? If we are forgiven for all sins, we can be saved from hell. This is the GOOD NEWS, and that’s why I’m here today to bring you GOOD NEWS!”

“Do you remember Romans 6:23 from earlier? Let me turn back to that spot and show you.”

Turn to Romans 6:23: “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”

“So I want to focus on that second part there. It says THE GIFT of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. If there was one thing you could have in all of life, it would probably be not to die. Right? When you get down to it, death ends everything for us. No one wants to burn in hell. The largest amount of money in the world can’t buy you happiness and it definitely can’t get you out of dying. You can’t bribe God with money. Wouldn’t you want the gift of eternal life to not die? Everyone should want that gift. I know I want it. Do you want eternal life?”

“I want you to remember that the Bible calls this a gift from God. He wants to give you a gift.”

“If I gave you a gift for Christmas, and I told you that you’re going to have to pay for it by doing some work for me; is that a gift? No, that’s not a gift because I’m asking you to pay for some of it or all of it. You simply do not work for a gift. The gift of God is the exact same. You don’t work for God’s gift. Someone else pays for a gift and not the person receiving the gift. God NEVER says you have to work for His gift of eternal life. He wants to give it to you FREELY. Let me show you what the Bible says.”

Turn to Ephesians 2:8-9: “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any many should boast.”

“God Himself in His Bible says that He is giving you a gift and that you don’t work for that gift. He says it’s not of works. Do you understand what the Bible is saying? This is GOOD NEWS! It’s easy and it’s free! And I’ll tell you how you can get it today.”

“The Bible says you don’t have to work for the gift of eternal life in any way.

“Here’s a quick summary of what we know so far. We are siners. We have earned the wages of sin and that is death. The penalty of sin is death and hell. Salvation or being saved from sin is the gift of eternal life and that gift is free and only God can give you that gift. You don’t work for that gift or earn that gift. Someone else has already paid for that gift.”

“Now, I want to tell you about the Gospel of Jesus Christ the Son of God because this is what saves us and gives us that gift. If you understand and believe the Gospel, you’ll receive that amazing gift from God. Gospel means GOOD NEWS. Let me show you the Gospel in the Bible.”

Turn to Romans 5:8: “But God commendeth His love towards us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”

Turn to John 3:16: “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him shall not perish, but have everlasting life.”

“Jesus Christ is the Son of God that God the Father sent to be a sacrifice for all sins of all time. Jesus was conceived by the Holy Spirit and was born of a virgin. He lived a sinless life and never did anything wrong. This means He didn’t deserve death, but He went to the cross and died. His body was buried, and His soul went to hell. Jesus defeated death and hell and arose from the dead in His body on the third day. There were many witnesses that saw His death and His resurrection. There were over 500 witnesses at one time to His resurrection. Jesus stayed on Earth for 40 days after He arose, and then He went to be with His Father in heaven. This is the record of Jesus Christ.”

“Do you believe the Bible is true? Do you believe that Jesus died, was buried, His soul went to hell, and He arose in His body from the dead? If you do, then you know that Jesus has power over life and death. Do you understand that Jesus has already paid for the gift that He wants to give you today? You don’t pay for anything. He has covered all your sins: past, present, and future. This is Good News, right?”

“”If you believe the Gospel of Jesus Christ with all your heart, you have just now received the gift of eternal life! Isn’t that amazing? That’s all it takes to receive this amazing gift. And see, you didn’t have to do any work for it except believe what the Bible says!”

“Now that you have eternal life, I want to make sure you understand what that means because this is VERY important.”

“Eternal life is everlasting life meaning life that never ends. Let me show you that you have it once you believe.”

Turn to John 3:36: “He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.”

“This means you have it once you believe on Jesus Christ. And once you have it, you can’t lose it because God says it is everlasting life. God says it never ends. The Bible never says you can lose it. If you could lose it for doing something bad, it wouldn’t be good news! When God promises you eternal life once you believe on Jesus, you can know that His promise is good.”

“So, if God gives you the gift of eternal life or never ending life today and then He takes it away because you do something really bad, was it everlasting life? Did it last forever? No, because it ended. If God takes away everlasting life for ANY reason, this means God is a liar. God for sure isn’t a liar.”

Turn to 1 John 5:10-13: “He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son. And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.”

“Do you think God would take away the gift of eternal life even though it lasts forever? Why would He call it everlasting life if it ends at any time? Do you see?”

“Once you have it, you have it. God doesn’t take a gift back. You can know right now that once you believe you are eternally secure in God’s hands. This doesn’t mean you can go out and do whatever you want now because God is a good Father and He can punish you here on earth in this life up to the point of death. But, He will never send you to hell. If you believe God, you’ll want to do what He says.”

“So, is there anything you can do to lose the gift of eternal life? What do you think?”

“If you believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, that He is your Savior, and that you have eternal life, I would like to say a prayer to God Himself right now. I would like you to repeat what I say and lead you in this prayer. Is that okay with you?”

Dear Father God.
I know I’m a sinner.
I know I deserve death and hell because of my sins.
But, I believe that you’ve given me the way to life.
And that way is through your Son, Jesus Christ.
I believe that Jesus was born of a virgin.
I believe He lived a sinless life and is perfect.
I believe He died on the cross for my sins including past, present, and future sins.
I know that only Jesus can save me.
I put all my trust in Him.
I know that it doesn’t depend on my works at all.
Right now, I ask you to save me through my faith in Jesus.
Please forgive me of all the sins I have done and will do.
Please take me to heaven when I die as you promise in the Bible.
Thank you so much for giving me eternal life.
I accept your gift now.
I ask now to receive the Holy Spirit which seals my soul from sin.
In the name of Jesus Christ I pray, Amen.

“So, you now have the gift of eternal life, and you’re saved. That’s all you need to make it into heaven. It takes nothing else but belief on Jesus Christ to save you.”

“One of the first steps after you’ve been saved is to be baptized because Jesus asked us to do this. You don’t have to do this to be saved, but you should do this as a good work. Good works get you rewards in heaven. So you can get off to a good start in heaven by being baptized. Would you maybe be interested in doing this?”

“If so, we’ll setup a time that works best for you to be baptized. Would you be interested in coming to Church this Sunday to be baptized?”

“Could I get your contact details from you, and we’ll be in touch with you? If you need a ride to church or anything else before then, just let me know. I’ll give you my personal cell phone number so you can call or text me any time.”

“I also wanted to give you the information that we’ve went over today. You can review this any time you want just in case you forget something. Do you have a King James Bible to read?”

“We read the Bible often at Church and hope you’ll be able to join us to learn more about the Bible. Reading the Bible is another good work that gets you rewards in heaven, and you can do it right here at home. We’ll always be here if you need anything. We’re only here to help. Remember that if you ever need anything.”

“We thank you greatly for your time. Have a great day!”
