James 2:21-26 James Chapter 2 is a chapter that works based salvation preachers will use over and over again. They ignore the entire rest of the Bible and will teach that you must have good works to get to heaven. They will use a verse that says Abraham was justified by his works to say that you must have good works to get to heaven. The entire Bible, hundreds of Scriptures, teach that we are only saved by faith in Jesus Christ. Jesus is “THE” Savior of the world. The sacrifice of Jesus Christ, his blood, his life, is the…

Matthew 4:8-10 We are continuing our verse by verse lessons through the Gospel of Matthew. We are in Matthew Chapter 4 with the temptations of Jesus. Jesus was baptized and right after he is being tempted by Satan. He was tempted first in Matthew with food and using his power as the Son of God. He was then tempted to throw himself off the temple to see if God would save him. Jesus was tempted to tempt God. And now we are here to the third temptation of Jesus Christ. The Third Temptation of Jesus Christ “”Matthew 4:8-10Again, the devil…

Exodus 25:17-22 I want to do a complete Bible study on the mercy seat. We’re going to learn everything the Bible tells us about the mercy seat. The Bible is the one and only source of truth for this church. So, when we study the mercy seat throughout the Bible, we will come to a complete understanding. We don’t need anything or anyone else to teach us something different about the mercy seat. When we search the Scriptures for mercy seat, what do we find? We find 27 matches in 23 verses. 27 Total Matches for Mercy Seat and Mercyseat…

James 2:14-26 Please turn to James Chapter 2 in your King James Bible. This is very popular chapter for the works based salvation preachers. The exact phrase “faith without works” is seen in the Bible just two times. Both of those times are in the Book of James. James is the 59th book of the Bible out of 66 total books so it’s towards the end of the Bible. There are 58 books of the Bible before the Book of James that clearly teach that the salvation of your soul comes through faith in Jesus Christ. James teaches salvation comes…

James 2:14-26 I am continuing the sermon from this morning. Faith without works is dead. If you haven’t seen that sermon, please watch that one. As this is a continuation. We’re looking closely at the Bible. We’re looking closely at James Chapter 2. “”James 2:14What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him?”” Look closely at the verse and don’t skip any words. “What doth it profit, my brethren?” We’re talking about profit. Profit means gain, advantage, improve, or benefit. Keep that in mind as we continue. The…

James 2:14-26 We’re going to talk about one of the favorite sayings of people who believe in a works based salvation. They will teach and preach that since James Chapter 2 says, “Faith without works is dead,” that you must have good works to earn the free gift of heaven. They ignore the entire Bible, and they go with the phrase: “Faith without works is dead.” Because the phrase “faith without works is dead” is in the Bible they choose to believe you must do good works to get to heaven. What If You Don’t Have Good Works? They will…

Matthew 4:5-7 We are continuing our Sunday School lessons in the Gospel of Matthew. We are in Matthew Chapter 4. At the end of Matthew Chapter 3, we saw Jesus get baptized in water. And now we see him being tempted by the devil. Last week we saw Jesus being tempted to turn the stones into bread after fasting for forty days and forty nights. That was the first temptation by the devil to Jesus. Now, we’re going to study the second temptation. “”Matthew 4:5-7Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle…

Ezekiel 43:18-27 I want to do a complete Bible study on the topic of the sprinkling of blood. This isn’t a simple or easy Bible study to start as there are many different Scriptures that speak of the sprinkling of blood. Why is blood sprinkled? What is the purpose of this sprinkling of blood? Before we get into the Scriptures, I put together a table with all the occurrences of sprinkling blood on an object or a person. Here’s how many times each of these are mentioned in the King James Bible. # Location Times 1 Altar 26 2 People…

Exodus 24:1-8 I’m going to focus on the commandments from God that tell us to read and study the Bible. We have to go back to the basics of reading and studying the Bible daily. If everything else is more important, things aren’t going to turn out very well. We need to know what’s in the Bible. We need to know the organization of the Bible. We need to know the structure of the Bible. We need to know the doctrines taught within the Bible. We need to know the books of the Bible. We need to know how many…

1 Thessalonians 5:11-15 I want to go over the mission of this church as we get started today. The mission of this church: 1) Preach the Gospel and win souls to Jesus Christ. 2) Baptize in water as the first step of obedience to Jesus Christ. 3) Teach them all things within the Bible. Notice that there aren’t all these other things. This is our mission as given within the Bible. We do special events to support this mission. We have food and clothing to support this mission. Everything we do is to support this mission that we have. Our…

Matthew 4:1-4 We’ve been talking about Jesus being God in the flesh in many different lessons, sermons, and Bible studies since this church has opened. This is a very important doctrine to know and understand. Jesus Christ is the Son of God, and he is God in the flesh. Jesus Christ was tempted with food. This 100% proves that Jesus was in this same flesh. He came just like us, in this same flesh and blood, to save us. He didn’t get an advantage over us. He didn’t take any advantages. He went through more than any of us will…

We just read through the Day of Atonement and everything that happened on that day. There are people out there who attempt to apply things that happened during the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ one to one to the day of atonement.

This evening we are going to partake in the first Lord’s Supper at this new church. We’re going to take a close look at how Jesus implemented the Lord’s Supper. We’re going to learn from Jesus, and we’re going to do our best to implement the Lord’s Supper as he instructed. Listen to these Scriptures as these are leading up to the Lord’s Supper.

1 Kings 19:1-8 We all have times of trouble in our life. Every one of us have trouble. We all have bad days, bad weeks, bad months, and bad years. Times can get really tough. Out on the streets on Tuesday of this week, a man told me that he was tired of losing in life. He told me he is angry and just wanted to kill someone. He said I might just start killing because this world is setup to make me fail. He’s right. This world is setup to make you fail, but God sets you up to…

Matthew 3:13-17 We’ve been going through the Gospel of Matthew, the first book in the New Testament, verse by verse in great detail. In Matthew Chapter 1, we saw the genealogy of Jesus, God in the flesh, from Abraham to Joseph. We see Jesus is conceived of the Holy Ghost and born of the virgin Mary. In Matthew Chapter 2, we see the wise men inquire about Jesus Christ. Herod is alarmed. The wise men are directed by a star to Bethlehem where Jesus was born. The wise men worship him and offer their gifts. Joseph flees into Egypt with…

John 20:11-18 Since we are looking at the feasts of the Lord and focusing on the feast of firstfruits, I want to stop and take a look at a very important moment on resurrection day. We are putting together a resurrection timeline of all the events mentioned in the Bible. We know that the first appearance of Jesus, in his new resurrected body, was to Mary Magdalene. I want to look closely at that appearance right now. Let’s see exactly what happens on resurrection day using the Scriptures. And remember, Jesus arose from the dead in the Spring. His death,…

1 Corinthians 6:12-20 God is very clear on His commandment to flee fornication. In order to flee fornication, we need to know what it is and why we need to run from it as fast as we possibly can. “”1 Corinthians 6:18Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body.”” Flee fornication. When you commit fornication, you’re sinning against your own body. So, what is fornication? The Definition of Fornication The first definition of fornication is the voluntary sexual intercourse between two unmarried persons or two persons…

Proverbs 6:6-11 Today, I want to go over something that can and will destroy your life. I’ve seen this destroy individuals and families throughout my life. And it’s a very serious thing. And you might think this is hard to hear today. I’m going to talk about being slothful and sluggish. Sloths are the slowest land animal on earth. On average, they move about as far as 50 of our steps. Slugs and snails move very slowly. I have a watch on my arm that tracks steps. If I only move 50 steps per day, I’m a sloth. I’m a…

Matthew 3:7-12 We’ve been going through Matthew Chapter 3 verse by verse. Last week we focused in on what John the Baptist meant when he preached to “bring forth therefore fruits meet for repentance.” We know he was talking about the fruit of your lips. When we go out and preach the Gospel, much like John the Baptist was doing there, we ask people if they believe what we’re telling them from the Bible. They will say “Yes, I believe that” or “No, I don’t believe that.” “”Matthew 3:7-9But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees come to…

Mark 16:9-20 I want to look closely at the appearances of Jesus after He arose from the dead. Again, we’re going to see different accounts in the four different Gospels. I want to attempt to put these in the order they happened. But first we’re going to look at the appearances Jesus makes in each of the Gospels after He is risen. In the Gospel of Matthew, we see two appearances of Jesus. Let’s look closely at the Scriptures. “”Matthew 28:5-7And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which…

Matthew 28:1-10 God gave us the four Gospels, Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John for a reason. He wants us to study all of them together. There are four different accounts of the day Jesus arose from the dead. We must take all four accounts and put them together so we know what happened. God commands us to “study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” And that’s what we’re going to do right here today. “”Matthew 28:1In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn…

Galatians 6:1-10 We are continuing this series on the laws of thy God. The Bible is filled with God’s commandments to us. And I want to talk about something very important today. We’re here to help each other, but, if at all possible, the Bible says: “Every man shall bear his own burden.” We teach the Bible here, and when you follow the Bible, everything works together for good. When you don’t follow the Bible, everything is tougher on you and everyone around you. “”Galatians 6:1-2Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such…

Isaiah 42:5-12 We are a brand new church here in West Louisville in the Park Hill neighborhood. I love it here. I love the people here. Nathan and I wanted to come here. This church, True Words Baptist Church, is a brand new church. We just finished the 11th week of being open. We haven’t been here very long. We started out with just my family and Nathan’s family. We started out great with 77 people attending our Grand Opening services on 10/13/2024. I expected the attendance to drop some after that opening day, and it did. Much of our…

Matthew 3:7-12 In Matthew Chapter 3, we see John the Baptist coming on the scene and preaching in the wilderness or desert area of Judaea. He preaches, “Repent ye for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” We went over that in detail. This means John the Baptist is preaching to change your mind and believe in the Lord Jesus Christ. Don’t believe in yourself to get to heaven. Don’t believe in your own good works. Don’t believe in you repenting of your sin. Instead, believe in the Lord Jesus Christ. John the Baptist is wearing clothing made of camel’s…

Leviticus 23:9-14 The feast of firstfruits happens during the seven days of unleavened bread. The Passover happens on the first day. The feast of firstfruits happens on the day after the weekly Sabbath day during those seven days of unleavened bread. Look closely at this graphic again. At the top you see the days of unleavened bread. Seven days. You see Day 1, Day 2, all the way through Day 7. That first night of the 14th is the Passover. That’s when the feast of unleavened bread begins and it continues into the day of the 15th. In that selfsame…
