Is there any hope outside of the cross? Was Christโs sacrificeโ**and only His sacrificeโpowerful enough to redeem your soul? This sermon confronts the claim that any other way to salvation could exist and demands the question: will you trust in your own effortsโor stand boldly by His blood alone?

Are you preserving truth or blending in with the world? Jesus said, โYe are the salt of the earthโ and โYe are the light of the world.โ Are you shining brightlyโor hiding your light under a bushel?

What does wheat have to do with 3,000 souls getting saved? How does an Old Testament feast connect to the fire of Pentecost? Why did the law kill 3,000, but the Spirit give life to the same number? The Feast of Weeks was more than a traditionโit was a prophecy waiting to be fulfilled. This sermon uncovers how Acts 2 wasnโt just the beginning of the churchโฆ it was the continuation of Godโs harvest plan. Are you part of it?

Introduction Well, thank you for allowing me to come and preach. I’m excited to be here. I didnโt realize when I was first invited that this was going to be Charter Sunday, so what an exciting time to be able to witness a church as it’s just opening up. Iโm thrilled to see a work starting here in Louisville. Thereโs a big need for a church in this area, and Iโm thankful that Brother Tapp has taken on the pastorate. Praise the Lord for that. The Context of 1 Kings 5 In 1 Kings 5, starting in verse 2, the…

Introduction โ A Holy Moment In A Hard Place I want to start this sermon in Matthew Chapter 16. “”Matthew 16:13-15When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am? 14 And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets. 15 He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am?”” His disciples have seen him do all types of things now and all types of miracles. He’s healed all manner of…

Introduction: What Does It Mean To Be Blessed? Matthew Chapter 5 is an amazing chapter. And this is something many people miss. I’ve been around groups of people, churches, in the past couple of years that I shouldn’t have been around. Thank God we made it back to Kentucky where a good pastor was waiting for us. And I want you to hear this today. This is what we want to be like here. What you hear Jesus say is what we want to be like here at this church. It’s not what some nasty man says. It’s what Jesus…

This is a command from God to prove all things in our lives. What does it mean to prove all things? There are 42 verses in the King James Bible that talk about proving. That includes all the variations: Prove, Proved, Proveth, Proving The definition of Prove – To try, to test, Establish as truthto establish the existence, truth, or validity of (as by evidence or logic) If someone tells you a fact that is really hard to believe. You would probably say. โProve it!โ If I told you that I can dunk a basketball on a 10ft rim, (Who…

Introduction: The Danger of Disputes Disputes or arguments happen everywhere in every day life. We have disputes at work, out in the world, in families, among friends, and even within the church. Conflict is a part of life, but as Christians, we are called to handle things differently. The Bible teaches that avoiding unnecessary conflict is a mark of wisdom, maturity, and godliness. Proverbs 3:30 gives us a warning: “Strive not with a man without cause, if he have done thee no harm.” This shows us that not all disputes are worth engaging in. We must discern whether a disagreement…

Trusting God Through the Highs and Lows Life is a roller coaster for each and every one of us. I saw that growing up for my family. I saw the low points for my Dad and Mom, and I saw the high points for my Dad and Mom. In my life, with my family, I’ve seen the low points and I’ve seen the high points. I’ve been through the climbs up and I’ve been through the falling down over and over again. Life is full of ups and downs just like a roller coaster. Sometimes, we’re up on the mountain…

The Compassion, Power, and Authority of Jesus Christ Last Sunday School lesson we talked about the people of Capernaum, people living in darkness, seeing the great light of Jesus Christ walk right into their city. Jesus is the great light of this world. But then he calls as the light of the world. We are to let our light shine. Go out and preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We are to follow in the footsteps of Jesus. Peter, Andrew, James, and John immediately got up and followed Jesus Christ. They left everything else and followed Jesus. Today, I want…

Understanding Pentecost and the Feast of Weeks We went through the Feast of Weeks Bible Study a couple of weeks ago so we know exactly what they offered and what they did on that feast day. We know that Pentecost, or fiftieth, is another name for the Feast of Weeks. Remember, the Feast of Weeks is numbered by 7 weeks and then the day after that seventh Sabbath day. Seven times seven is forty-nine and then the next day is the fiftieth day. Pentecost is fiftieth. We know Jesus ascended into heaven forty days after he arose from the dead.…

Introduction: Who Really Has Faith? It takes more faith to deny God than to believe in him. A great amount, no a huge amount of faith, is required to believe that there is no God. The religion of Atheism states there is no God. “”Psalm 53:1The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. Corrupt are they, and have done abominable iniquity: there is none that doeth good.”” Again, the fool hath said in his heart, there is no God. The definition of fool is one who is destitute of reason, or the common powers of understanding.; an…

I want to take a close look at the Bible today. You will find this very interesting. Most of you here know that you’re saved, and you have everlasting life all because of Jesus Christ. You know that you aren’t saved by your own good works. The True Source of Salvation Revealed But, there’s many people out there, Catholics especially, who call themselves Christians but they believe in themselves to get to heaven. For them, it takes more than the sacrifice that Jesus Christ made for them. They spit in the face of Jesus Christ. Just as the people spit…

The Perfect Life of Jesus Christ We can learn a lot from the life of Jesus Christ. When he came to earth as God in the flesh, he made perfect decisions and lived the perfect life. He never did anything wrong. He was and is absolutely perfect. In the Gospel of Matthew, we’ve seen the generation of Jesus Christ or where he came from in the flesh. We saw him being born. God protected him through many dangers such as king Herod. He was born in Bethlehem of Judah but grew up in Nazareth of Galilee. He was called a…

Proverbs 30:1-6 We just went over the Feast of Weeks in detail in the Old Testament. We know the Feast of Weeks is numbered 50 days from the Firstfruits that occurs during the Passover week or the days of unleavened bread. We know Jesus is the firstfruits. His resurrection from the dead occurred on that firstfruits day. Or, let’s say the firstfruits occurred on the day he arose from the dead because everything revolves around him and not the other way around. When Jesus arose from the dead on the feast of firstfruits, he would ascend into heaven just 40…

Understanding Selfwilled Men I want to teach what it means to be a self-willed man or a self-willed woman. The Bible gives qualifications for a bishop or a pastor or a leader of a church. I want to focus in on one of these today. The Bible says a bishop or pastor must not be selfwilled. “”Titus 1:7For a bishop must be blameless, as the steward of God; not selfwilled, not soon angry, not given to wine, no striker, not given to filthy lucre;”” Biblical Qualifications for Pastors For a bishop must be not selfwilled. Many people who think they…

1 Kings 17:8-16 This is a sermon I want to stick with you for a long time. I want this to stick in your head. And when you’re not sure what to do, just try. If you aren’t sure you can do something, just try. Hey, give it a shot. Just try. I want to start out today with one of my favorite Scriptures in all the Bible. This is an extremely powerful story that I want you to remember. The Story of Elijah and the Widow Woman This life is tough. Some people give up when it gets tough.…

Matthew 4:12-17 We just finished the Sunday School lessons on the temptations of Jesus. Jesus was baptized and then he was tempted by Satan. After this, Jesus hears that John the Baptist was cast into prison. I want to focus in on this verse, Matthew 4 verse 12. “”Matthew 4:12Now when Jesus had heard that John was cast into prison, he departed into Galilee;”” Why Was John the Baptist Cast Into Prison? So, we don’t get much detail about John the Baptist being cast into prison. What happened? John the Baptist was just preaching about Jesus. He just baptized Jesus.…

Leviticus 23:15-22 We’re continuing our detailed Bible study about the feasts of the Lord. We are focusing in on the fourth feast. Passover is first. Feast of Unleavened Bread is second. The Firstfruits is third. And now we’re going to the Feast of Weeks or Pentecost. This is a feast commanded by God in the Old Testament and is later fulfilled in the New Testament with the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. Biblical Foundation of the Feast of Weeks Now, let’s study the feast of weeks from where we first see it in the Bible. Leviticus Chapter 23 is the…

Romans 16:17-20 The Bible commands us to mark certain people. Put a mark on them. And there’s a reason to put a mark on them. Some pastors, churches, and cults like to mark anyone that doesn’t agree with something they say or do. And then they will attempt to use the Bible to mark someone for a reason that isn’t in the Bible. So, let’s actually look at the Scriptures and see what they say. “”Romans 16:17Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them.”” Mark…

1 Samuel 31:1-6 There is a man who killed himself in the Bible by falling upon his own sword. We just read those Scriptures. If I asked you who it was, would you know the answer? It’s important to come to church and get focused in on the word of God. We have to give attention to God’s words. The man, a king, the first king of Israel, king Saul, is that man who killed himself by falling on his own sword. “”1 Samuel 31:3-4And the battle went sore against Saul, and the archers hit him; and he was sore…

Matthew 4:8-11 After Jesus was baptized, he was tempted in different ways by Satan. When you’re trying to do right, you will be tempted in different ways by Satan. Jesus perfectly passed those tests. Other people in the Bible perfectly passed those tests. Other people in the Bible failed those tests. So, whatever happens, stay faithful to God through these temptations. Keep reading your Bible. Keep studying your Bible. Keep coming to church to hear and learn the word of God. Don’t fall back. Don’t stop. After Jesus was tempted by Satan, I want you to see what happened. I…

Scripture Reference: Leviticus 23:4-44 Introduction to the Seven Feasts of the Lord We have been going over the seven feasts of the Lord and details for all those seven feasts over the past several months at this Thursday Night Bible Study. I want to take a step back and go over a summary of the seven feasts of the Lord. After this, for example, next Bible Study, we will continue going over the details. We will start to see how God’s plan is unfolding. What Are the Seven Feasts of the Lord? What are the seven feasts of the…

1 Corinthians 15:12-24 When you look up the word resurrection, you will find 41 matches in 40 verses. All of those matches are in the New Testament. So, you don’t see the word resurrection in the Old Testament at all. But we know the resurrection is spoken of in the Old Testament. The definition of resurrection is rising from the dead. In My Flesh I Shall See God “”Job 19:25-27For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth: 26 And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in…

Joshua 8:30-35 This sermon will never be one of the popular sermons. When you start preaching about reading and studying the Bible, most people stop listening. But, we know that this is one of the most important topics. Reading the Bible. This must be a top priority in your life. I want to show you what’s in the Bible concerning the commandment from God for you to read the Bible. The Bible Commands Us To Read So We Know I did a quick search through the Scriptures in the Bible on the following four words: read, readest, readeth, and reading.…
