[2] The title of the sermon: “SALVATION BIBLE STUDY.”
Let’s Study Salvation Within The Bible
- Today, we’re going to study salvation within the Bible.
- What does the word salvation actually mean? Where does salvation come from?
- What do the Scriptures actually say about salvation.
- We only have one word to study within the Bible today and that word is salvation.
- Is the word SALVATION in the Bible a few times or many times? Let’s see.
[3]
- We find 164 matches for the word salvation in 158 verses.
- If you had to guess right now, which book of the Bible do you think has the most occurrences?
- Think about that for a few seconds. Which book would be your guess?
- My guess is that you probably won’t get it right because that’s not an easy question. But let’s see.
[4]
- Can you find the book with the most occurrences of the word salvation in that table?
- You have the Old Testament on the left with 115 matching verses.
- And you have the New Testament on the right with 43 matching verses.
- If you take a look at the Book of Psalms, you’ll see it has the most with 63 of 158 verses.
- Second place goes to the Book of Isaiah with 26 verses. The rest of the books aren’t even close.
- Hebrews comes in third with 6 verses. Here’s a chart showing the occurrences by book of the Bible.
[5]
- Again, Psalms has the most by far with about 40% of the occurrences in the entire Bible.
- Isaiah is next with about 17% of the verses within the entire Bible.
- Then you see the percentages go way down. Psalms and Isaiah make up about 57% of the verses.
- Then there are 30 books that make up the remaining 43% of the occurrences of the word salvation.
- 32 of 66 books of the Bible include the exact word “SALVATION.”
What Is Salvation?
With that said, what is salvation? Most churches don’t even define the word salvation for anyone.
- I remember wondering what they were talking about at times in church when I was a kid.
- What is salvation? What are they talking about? I don’t think many people know.
- So, we’re going to study salvation within the Bible. Let’s start with the definition.
[6]
- The definition of salvation is very simple. It simply means to save. The act of saving.
- Deliverance from destruction, danger, or great troubles. The definition of salvation is simple. TO SAVE.
- The Bible tells us that all people deserve death and hell because we are all sinners.
- We all do wrong by our choice. The Bible tells us that there are none good.
- None of us are good enough so we need to be saved. We need a Savior. We need salvation.
- We need to be saved from death and hell because that’s where all of us are headed unless we are saved.
- So, it’s very important to understand salvation in the Bible and how to obtain salvation.
Obviously, I can’t go through all 158 Scriptures within this sermon. We don’t have time to go through all.
- But, we’re going to go through many of them. Let’s start with the very first occurrence.
- We look to the Book of Genesis, and we’ll find salvation in Genesis Chapter 49 for the first time.
- Again, this is the very first occurrence within the entire Bible.
[7] Genesis 49:18 I have waited for thy salvation, O LORD.
- This is Jacob calling unto his sons and telling them what shall befall them in the last days.
- Between Dan and Gad he says this in verse 18. “I have waited for THY SALVATION, O Lord.”
- This should tell you something. Where does salvation come from? The answer is in the very first verse.
- “I have waited for thy salvation, O Lord.” Salvation comes from the Lord.
- Being saved from death and hell only comes from the Lord. He is the author of salvation.
- He is the only one who can save you because salvation comes from Him and Him alone.
If you don’t believe that salvation is ONLY in God and not in yourself, let’s keep studying the Bible today.
- Since we hit the first occurrence of the word, let’s now go to the very last occurrence.
- And then we’ll fill in many verses in between.
- Where do you think the last occurrence of the word salvation is located? That’s an easy one.
- The first was in Genesis and the last is in Revelation. Let’s look at the last occurrence.
- We look to Revelation Chapter 19.
[8] Revelation 19:1 And after these things I heard a great voice of much people in heaven, saying, Alleluia; Salvation, and glory, and honour, and power, unto the Lord our God:
- This is people rejoicing in heaven over the DESTRUCTION OF BABYLON.
- The blood of prophets and saints was found in Babylon. God avenged them by destroying Babylon.
- And heaven rejoices. What does this great voice of much people in heaven say right there?
- SALVATION UNTO THE LORD OUR GOD. They are saying that salvation comes from the Lord our God.
- He saves us. We don’t save ourselves through our great works. Salvation doesn’t come through our works.
If we could save ourselves, we wouldn’t need Jesus Christ. But we can’t save ourselves.
- As you’re going to see, the entire Bible teaches us that salvation comes from God Almighty.
- Salvation is ONLY IN HIM. Jesus Christ is “THE SAVIOR.” I am not. You are not. The pope is not.
- The President of the United States is not. A doctor isn’t your savior. Your church won’t save you.
Please make sure you understand that salvation is in God because most people in churches today don’t.
- I want to make sure all the children here understand salvation.
- I want to make sure everyone here understands salvation. Jesus Christ died for your salvation.
- So, salvation must be very important to God because He sent His only Son to die for your salvation.
- You didn’t die to save yourself. You aren’t the sacrifice for sins. The Lamb of God is the sacrifice for sins.
- Your great works are NOT the sacrifice for sins. Your great works do not forgive your soul of sin.
- As we go throughout this Bible study today, please keep in mind that we’re reading verses with the word salvation.
[9] Exodus 14:13-14 And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which he will shew to you to day: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen to day, ye shall see them again no more for ever. 14 The LORD shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.
- Moses tells the people to STAND STILL. Hey, just stop and stand still. SEE THE SALVATION OF THE LORD.
- Again, salvation is of the Lord. This is the truth and Moses just repeated this truth.
- He says, “God will show you today.” And what does God do? He shows them. The Lord shall fight for you.
- And what does Moses tell the people to do? “Ye shall hold your peace.”
- In other words, stand still, be quiet, and see the salvation of the Lord.
- He’s going to save you from the Egyptians.
God Saves People
You need to realize how many times God saves His people from troubles and problems.
- We see the children of Israel had a big problem because the Egyptians were coming to kill them.
- But, when God is on your side, it doesn’t matter who is after you because He is bigger.
- He is infinite times more powerful. Salvation comes from Him, and He shows His power.
[10] Exodus 14:19-20 And the angel of God, which went before the camp of Israel, removed and went behind them; and the pillar of the cloud went from before their face, and stood behind them: 20 And it came between the camp of the Egyptians and the camp of Israel; and it was a cloud and darkness to them, but it gave light by night to these: so that the one came not near the other all the night.
- The angel of God, which usually went before the camp of Israel, now moves to the rear to protect them.
- The Egyptians are after them so the Lord puts a safety cloud between them. He gave them light to see.
- HE SAVED THEM.
[11] Exodus 14:30-31 Thus the LORD saved Israel that day out of the hand of the Egyptians; and Israel saw the Egyptians dead upon the sea shore. 31 And Israel saw that great work which the LORD did upon the Egyptians: and the people feared the LORD, and believed the LORD, and his servant Moses.
- In your life, I guarantee you that God has saved you many times.
- He has saved people that hate Him from many things in their own life. But they still hate Him.
- He’s proven Himself to them over and over again. He allows them to live and gives them breath each day.
He shows them that salvation is of the Lord throughout life until they reject Him one too many times.
- Death and hell will come for them because they won’t be saved by their own choice.
- Salvation comes from the Lord, and you must go to Him to be saved from death and hell.
- That’s the end of Exodus Chapter 14 right there. Let’s see the beginning of Exodus Chapter 15.
[12] Exodus 15:1-2 Then sang Moses and the children of Israel this song unto the LORD, and spake, saying, I will sing unto the LORD, for he hath triumphed gloriously: the horse and his rider hath he thrown into the sea. 2 The LORD is my strength and song, and he is become my salvation: he is my God, and I will prepare him an habitation; my father’s God, and I will exalt him.
- Moses and the children of Israel sing a song that says, “The Lord is become my salvation. He is my God.”
- God saved the children of Israel over and over again throughout their life and many still forsook Him.
- Many of them didn’t make it to heaven because they believed not in the Lord.
- But Moses made it because he had faith in the Lord. He sings, “HE IS BECOME MY SALVATION.”
- God is the salvation of Moses. God is the Savior of Moses. Is God ALONE your Savior or not?
- You cannot save yourself. No one can save you but GOD ALONE. There is salvation in none other.
[13] Acts 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.
- Who do you think that angel of the Lord was that moved from the front of the camp to the back?
- Who do you think saved the children of Israel that day from the Egyptians?
- It was none other than Jesus Christ. “Neither is there salvation in ANY OTHER.”
- “For there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we MUST be saved.”
- Jesus Christ is the only way we can be saved. Salvation is IN HIM and HIM ALONE.
- It’s not in you. Your name doesn’t contribute to salvation. You don’t contribute to salvation.
My name isn’t listed there in the Bible and yours isn’t either. Jesus Christ is the Savior of the world.
- Repenting of your sins and being baptized doesn’t save you.
- Jesus Christ saves you by His grace through faith. You simply believe “ON” Him and He will save you.
- Simply have faith “IN” Him, and He will save you. He shows many examples throughout the Bible.
- “Thy faith hath saved thee.”
[14] Luke 7:48-50 And he said unto her, Thy sins are forgiven. 49 And they that sat at meat with him began to say within themselves, Who is this that forgiveth sins also? 50 And he said to the woman, Thy faith hath saved thee; go in peace.
- Our works do not save us. Salvation is not in our works. If it were, there must be a verse saying so.
- God wouldn’t forget to tell us something so important. Yet, He never says this once.
- But lying false preachers do all the time. But God isn’t a liar.
- He clearly tells us over and over again that salvation is IN HIM. We are saved by God’s grace through faith.
We don’t do any work to be saved. We simply trust in Him for salvation because salvation is “IN HIM.”
- If it had something to do with us, we could just do the work we needed to do for salvation.
- But we can’t. We can only believe on Him and put our trust in Him. Then, we receive salvation.
- Then, God saves us. This is what He says over and over again within the Bible.
[15] Deuteronomy 32:15 But Jeshurun waxed fat, and kicked: thou art waxen fat, thou art grown thick, thou art covered with fatness; then he forsook God which made him, and lightly esteemed the Rock of his salvation.
- Jeshurun is Israel. They prospered because of God. But then they forsook God which made him.
- They lightly esteemed the Rock of their salvation. The Rock is Jesus Christ. He is their salvation.
- God formed us all. We should always remember Him each and every day. He is our salvation or Savior.
- He created us. He gives us life. He gives us eternal life. He saves us. He is salvation.
[16] 1 Samuel 2:1-2 And Hannah prayed, and said, My heart rejoiceth in the LORD, mine horn is exalted in the LORD: my mouth is enlarged over mine enemies; because I rejoice in thy salvation. 2 There is none holy as the LORD: for there is none beside thee: neither is there any rock like our God.
- Hannah’s prayer is one of my favorites in all the Bible. “Neither is there any rock like our God.”
- God is steady. He is truth. He is always on time. He is always here. He doesn’t forget about us.
- Hannah says, “My mouth is enlarged over mine enemies because I rejoice in thy salvation.”
- Hannah knew who was saving her. Hannah is in heaven right now because she trusted in the Lord.
- She knew that God would save her. She knew that God alone is salvation.
False Preachers Aren’t Preaching The Same Thing As This Sermon
So, let me ask you a question. False preachers love to say that they and I are preaching the same things.
- They’ll say, “Oh yeah, we all believe in Jesus too. We believe the same things.”
- So, I say that Jesus Christ ALONE is our salvation. We don’t need anything else to save us.
- If we put all our faith in HIM ALONE, then we are saved. Are the false preachers teaching the same?
- Is it the same thing to say that we must be baptized in water and repent of all our sins to be saved?
- I say that you don’t have to be baptized in water and repent of all your sins to be saved.
Are we saying the same thing? I say that you must believe “ON” Jesus Christ to be saved.
- This means you must change your mind and put all 100% of your trust for salvation in Jesus Christ.
- This is what I preach and teach. Is that the same thing as repenting of all your sin?
- Is that the same thing as living a holy life and being obedient to God at all times?
- Is that the same thing as teaching that you must be being baptized in water?
We aren’t saying the same thing. The false preachers are teaching a works based salvation.
- You need to wake up and realize what’s happening here. Do not be deceived.
- So far, we’ve seen that Moses wasn’t deceived. John wasn’t deceived. Peter wasn’t deceived.
- Hannah wasn’t deceived. God has proved Himself over and over again throughout the Bible.
- He’s proven Himself to you with your life. If you’re here right now, God has proven Himself to you.
- Listen to the actual words of the Bible.
- If all these people are saying, “GOD IS SALVATION” then why are you listening to false preachers who are teaching YOU ARE SALVATION?
- You and your works are not salvation. Salvation is IN GOD ALONE.
[17] 2 Samuel 22:1-2 And David spake unto the LORD the words of this song in the day that the LORD had delivered him out of the hand of all his enemies, and out of the hand of Saul: 2 And he said, The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer;
[18] 2 Samuel 22:3-4 The God of my rock; in him will I trust: he is my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower, and my refuge, my saviour; thou savest me from violence. 4 I will call on the LORD, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from mine enemies.
- Notice that God is called the Rock over and over again with these salvation Scriptures.
- King David knows the Savior. Notice David says exactly: “The God of MY ROCK.” Jesus is the Rock.
- And His Father is God. David trusts God. He is my shield. He is the horn of my salvation. He is my Savior.
- If God is the Savior, why are churches teaching people that they are a part of being “THE SAVIOR?”
- “You must do this work. You must do that work. You must give us offering.”
- “You must keep coming to church. You must prove to us that you are a good person.”
This is what they are teaching people. NO!!! Do you know what you must do?
- You must stop believing in all of those things. STOP RIGHT HERE AND RIGHT NOW.
- And simply do what King David does right there. He stops. He talks with God.
- “And David spoke unto the Lord the words of this song in the day the Lord had delivered him.”
- If you are here right now, the Lord has delivered you. He has given you life and has saved you in this life.
- You aren’t dead, though, you should be. I should be dead. I’ve done many stupid things. I am not good.
- But I’m here right now all because of God and Jesus Christ who is God.
I’m going to stop right here and right now and do what King David did. “The Lord is my rock. In Him will I trust.”
- I’m not just going to say that. I’m going to actually do it. I’m going to put all my trust in Him.
- This doesn’t take work. This just takes a change of mind. This is repentance for salvation.
- I’m going to change my mind and believe ON Jesus Christ. He is my salvation and nothing else.
- He is my high tower. He is my refuge. He is my Savior. He saves me from violence.
- He is my fortress. He is my deliverer. He is my shield. I am NOT all of those things.
- No one else is all of those things. There is salvation in no one else but God. Make sure you understand.
- Make sure you trust in Him and Him alone. He will save you. Nothing else will. David knew this.
- Moving down to verse 47 in the same chapter. Watch what David says this time.
[19] 2 Samuel 22:47 The LORD liveth; and blessed be my rock; and exalted be the God of the rock of my salvation.
- The Lord liveth. 3 words in that statement right there at the beginning of the verse. THE LORD LIVETH.
- Do you know anyone else that can say that? Can Satan say that? Can you say that?
- Satan is going to spend eternity in death. He’s going to be dead. Only the Lord liveth.
- We’re going to die. But God has saved us. He is the only one who can save us because THE LORD LIVETH.
- David knew that. The Lord is eternally alive. He cannot die. He is God. He has always been here.
- He is the LIVING GOD. There is no one else. Understand that. THERE IS NO ONE ELSE.
God is alive. He is living. We are headed to death without Him. “Blessed be my rock.” He is my rock.
- Can you say that about anyone else? No, you can’t. “Exalted be the God of the rock of my salvation.”
- God is exalted. False preachers attempt to exalt themselves and you with their works based salvation.
- People love that because the false preacher makes it about them. People love to get attention.
- When a false preacher makes it about the person versus God, the person loves this.
False Churches Take The Attention From God And Put It On You
They have taken the attention from God and put it onto themselves. They love to be exalted.
- Make sure you see what’s happening in the churches. Make sure you see what Joel Osteen is doing.
- Make sure you see what all of these false preachers are doing.
- If they teach something else beside God is salvation, then they are a false preacher.
- If they teach that you must do anything besides believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, they are a false preacher.
[20] 2 Samuel 22:51 He is the tower of salvation for his king: and sheweth mercy to his anointed, unto David, and to his seed for evermore.
- Understand that God is the tower of salvation. No one else is included in that tower.
- You aren’t apart of being the Savior. You didn’t die for everyone. God doesn’t accept you as the sacrifice.
- God only accepts a perfect and spotless LAMB without sin as the sacrifice for all sins.
- You aren’t it. I’m not it. If that hurts your feelings, that’s your problem. Joel Osteen won’t say this.
- He’s too “nice and kind” to say anything like that. He’s a lying false preacher.
God is the Savior. God is the sacrifice for all sins. Jesus Christ gave Himself for you and I.
- His body was broken. His blood spilled out. He is perfect.
- He meets the requirements to be the sacrifice for all sins. And He followed through for you and I.
- Why? Because He is the rock of our salvation. We can trust Him. He’s showed us we can trust Him.
- All of these examples in the Bible are truth. Won’t you trust what David is telling you?
- He’s writing this through the Holy Spirit who is God. Trust what God is telling you. He’s not a liar.
[21] 2 Samuel 23:5 Although my house be not so with God; yet he hath made with me an everlasting covenant, ordered in all things, and sure: for this is all my salvation, and all my desire, although he make it not to grow.
- God orders all things. He is an organized God. He has order to the way He does things.
- You can see this in His creation. His ways are SURE. He doesn’t change the way of salvation.
- Why? Because He doesn’t change. Salvation wasn’t different for Moses and then different for Abigail.
- And then different for Hannah. And then different for David. Salvation isn’t different for Peter and John.
- Salvation isn’t different for you. Salvation is and has always been the exact same. Salvation is God.
- Salvation is in GOD ALONE. All you do is trust in Him. Guess what? It’s the most simple thing you can do.
For example, let’s say that you’re on an airplane. The plane hits turbulence and throws you up out of your seat.
- You’re 30,000 feet in the air. The ground is 30,000 feet below you. You’re fragile.
- You realize that your own strength and knowledge is going to do nothing for you.
- You can’t save yourself out of this situation. The power to the plane goes out. The engines go out.
- There’s nothing you can do. The plane starts falling to the ground. Yes, this has happened to many people.
What are you most likely going to do? You’ll start asking God to save you. “Please God, save us.”
- You can’t do anything else. “Please, Jesus Christ, save us. Only you can fix this.” Right?
- It’s simple. God is your only option. When you’re dying, God Almighty is the only one who will hear you.
- So, hopefully, you haven’t rejected Him all your life and He’ll hear your call for Him to save you.
- There is no one else who can save you. Please understand this before it’s too late.
Everlasting life ONLY COMES through Jesus Christ. It doesn’t come through Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism.
- It doesn’t come through all the false “Christian” denominations like the Southern Baptist.
- It doesn’t come through the Church of Christ, the pope, the Methodists, or the Presbyterians.
- Salvation only comes through the ONE AND ONLY Jesus Christ. He is “THE MESSIAH” of the world.
[22] 1 Chronicles 16:23 Sing unto the LORD, all the earth; shew forth from day to day his salvation.
- HIS SALVATION. You aren’t the author of salvation. You don’t have everlasting life to give. God does.
- Salvation is His and His alone. If you want to be saved, you better go to the one who has it for you.
- If you want a lot of chocolate, you wouldn’t go to an electrical supply store.
- You would go to a chocolate shop. If you want everlasting life, you don’t go to a human.
Don’t try to earn salvation yourself because you don’t have it. God has it. Go to Him to get it.
- And how does He say to get it? He says to simply trust in Him, and He will save you.
- Have faith in Him. Believe on Him. Believe “IN” Him. That’s it. You go to Him. Call out to Him.
- “Please Lord, I trust you with all my heart, soul, and mind. Please give me YOUR salvation.”
- “Lord, I know that I can’t earn it because I’ve already broken your laws. Please give it to me.”
God says salvation is not of works. You wouldn’t try to work to get it then. Why would you do that?
- He clearly says that salvation is NOT OF WORKS. But people will still go to God with their works.
- “Hey God, look at that. Look at what I’ve done for you. Look at all these wonderful works I’ve done.”
[23] Matthew 7:22-23 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? 23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
- Salvation is not of works. This Scripture proves this once again.
- These people did many wonderful works in the name of Jesus Christ.
- What does Jesus say to these people who are trusting in their “wonderful works?”
- “I NEVER KNEW YOU.” They were never saved.
Trusting In Your Works Does Not Equal Salvation At All
They never had salvation because they trusted in their works. Don’t be one of those people.
- Your so-called “good works” aren’t good unless you have faith in Jesus Christ. Do you have salvation?
- If so, THEN you can do good works through faith in Him. Without faith, you cannot please Him.
- These people didn’t have faith but they had works. Didn’t work, did it? They went to hell.
- Don’t be one of these people. Trust in Jesus Christ ALONE. Works are not required for salvation.
[24] 1 Chronicles 16:34-36 O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever. 35 And say ye, Save us, O God of our salvation, and gather us together, and deliver us from the heathen, that we may give thanks to thy holy name, and glory in thy praise. 36 Blessed be the LORD God of Israel for ever and ever. And all the people said, Amen, and praised the LORD.
- O God of our salvation. Our salvation is through our God. It is not through us or our works.
- “And all the people said, AMEN, and praised the Lord.” That means they agreed with this.
- ALL THE PEOPLE AGREED. Why do the so-called “Christians” today not agree.
We get people who come in here telling me that I’m wrong about salvation.
- I get people on the website constantly telling me that I’m wrong about salvation.
- I can tell you right now that I am more sure about salvation than anything else in my life.
- I know for sure that salvation ONLY comes through Jesus Christ. Am I wrong about salvation?
- Were all of these people WRONG that said AMEN that day in that Scripture? Is God wrong in the Bible?
- The entire Bible teaches us that SALVATION is in God alone and nothing else.
- We can’t do a work to gain salvation. If we could, salvation would be through us in some way. It’s not.
[25] 2 Chronicles 20:17 Ye shall not need to fight in this battle: set yourselves, stand ye still, and see the salvation of the LORD with you, O Judah and Jerusalem: fear not, nor be dismayed; to morrow go out against them: for the LORD will be with you.
- “See the salvation of the Lord.” Do you see how salvation is very easy to understand?
- Salvation is of THE LORD. The Lord will be with you. When you die, you better hope the Lord is with you.
- If not, who will take you to heaven? Will your false pastor take you there? Will you call out to him or her?
- They won’t hear you. They aren’t God. They don’t know how to save you and take you to heaven.
- That’s Jahaziel the son of Zechariah speaking in that Scripture through the Holy Spirit.
[26] Job 13:15-16 Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him: but I will maintain mine own ways before him. 16 He also shall be my salvation: for an hypocrite shall not come before him.
- Job says, “HE ALSO SHALL BE MY SALVATION.” Job is saying that God is his salvation.
- Job knew that it wasn’t him that would save himself. Job was a good man, but he wasn’t perfect.
- He knew that only God could save him. We have all of these witnesses within the Bible telling us this.
- Is Job good enough for you? What about Moses? David? Hannah? Jahaziel? Peter?
- They are telling you all about salvation. They are telling you that salvation inly comes THROUGH the Lord.
[27] Psalm 3:7-8 Arise, O LORD; save me, O my God: for thou hast smitten all mine enemies upon the cheek bone; thou hast broken the teeth of the ungodly. 8 Salvation belongeth unto the LORD: thy blessing is upon thy people. Selah.
- Salvation belongeth unto the Lord.
- Yet, preachers in churches all around us are teaching something different.
- And they are very popular. We are not. God isn’t very popular in this world today.
- That should tell you something.
- Jesus Christ tells us that the world will hate us because they first hated Him.
[28] Psalm 9:14 That I may shew forth all thy praise in the gates of the daughter of Zion: I will rejoice in thy salvation.
[29] Psalm 13:5 But I have trusted in thy mercy; my heart shall rejoice in thy salvation.
[30] Psalm 14:7 Oh that the salvation of Israel were come out of Zion! when the LORD bringeth back the captivity of his people, Jacob shall rejoice, and Israel shall be glad.
- Jesus Christ is the salvation of Israel and He came out of Zion.
The Lord Jesus Christ Is Salvation
[31] Psalm 18:2 The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.
[32] Psalm 18:35 Thou hast also given me the shield of thy salvation: and thy right hand hath holden me up, and thy gentleness hath made me great.
[33] Psalm 18:46 The LORD liveth; and blessed be my rock; and let the God of my salvation be exalted.
[34] Psalm 20:5 We will rejoice in thy salvation, and in the name of our God we will set up our banners: the LORD fulfil all thy petitions.
[35] Psalm 21:5 His glory is great in thy salvation: honour and majesty hast thou laid upon him.
- God is great. He is the captain of our salvation. He deserves the glory, the honor, and the majesty.
- We do not. We do not own salvation. We do not own everlasting life. We cannot give it.
- We have no righteousness of our own. We have no honor of our own. We have no glory of our own.
- We like to think we do, but we don’t. All of it comes through God because He is all of those things.
[36] Psalm 24:5 He shall receive the blessing from the LORD, and righteousness from the God of his salvation.
- In order to be saved, we need the righteousness of the Lord because we have none.
- We need His righteousness imputed unto us just as the Bible tells us.
- “He shall receive righteousness from the God of his salvation.”
- You are saved once God gives you HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS. You don’t have any. God does.
- He is holy and perfect. You are not. Salvation is from Him alone.
[37] Psalm 25:5 Lead me in thy truth, and teach me: for thou art the God of my salvation; on thee do I wait all the day.
[38] Psalm 27:1 A Psalm of David. The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?
[39] Psalm 27:9 Hide not thy face far from me; put not thy servant away in anger: thou hast been my help; leave me not, neither forsake me, O God of my salvation.
[40] Psalm 35:9 And my soul shall be joyful in the LORD: it shall rejoice in his salvation.
[41] Psalm 37:39 But the salvation of the righteous is of the LORD: he is their strength in the time of trouble.
[42] Psalm 38:22 Make haste to help me, O Lord my salvation.
[43] Psalm 40:16 Let all those that seek thee rejoice and be glad in thee: let such as love thy salvation say continually, The LORD be magnified.
- If the so-called “pastors” and “preachers” with their false gospel would just study the word salvation within the Bible, they would see that it only comes through God.
- It doesn’t come through lies. It doesn’t come through us. It only comes through Jesus Christ.
- Do you see all of the Scriptures that are telling us this? There are hundreds.
- Being saved is through the Lord alone.
[44] Psalm 62:2 He only is my rock and my salvation; he is my defence; I shall not be greatly moved.
[45] Psalm 62:6 He only is my rock and my salvation: he is my defence; I shall not be moved.
[46] Psalm 62:7 In God is my salvation and my glory: the rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God.
- False preachers act as if they read the book of Psalms constantly. They say, “Psalms is my favorite book.”
- “I read a chapter in Psalms every day.” If you did, you should see all of these Scriptures.
- Remember, the word salvation is found in Psalms BY FAR more than any other book.
- I am going to start skipping through some verses now as we don’t have time to see them all.
- I can assure you that every single one of them will tell you that salvation is of the Lord.
[47] Psalm 78:22 Because they believed not in God, and trusted not in his salvation:
- When you believe “IN” God, this means you trust in “HIS” salvation.
- There are tons of so-called “Christians” out there who need to wake up. It’s time to wake up.
- Most of them do not trust in HIS SALVATION. It’s too easy for them to believe in.
- Trust in God ALONE, and He will save you. But, they want to add idiotic things to the salvation of God.
- They want to add themselves to salvation. They think they can do enough good things to gain salvation.
[48] Psalm 98:2 The LORD hath made known his salvation: his righteousness hath he openly shewed in the sight of the heathen.
[49] Psalm 116:13 I will take the cup of salvation, and call upon the name of the LORD.
- Calling upon the name of the Lord saves you. You can’t call on Him unless you believe “IN” Him.
- How to be saved is right there in that verse. This is talking directly about SALVATION.
[50] Psalm 118:21 I will praise thee: for thou hast heard me, and art become my salvation.
[51] Psalm 144:10 It is he that giveth salvation unto kings: who delivereth David his servant from the hurtful sword.
- Again, God GIVES salvation. It is the gift of God. The Bible says this over and over again.
- And we see it throughout the Old Testament. SALVATION IS A GIFT FROM GOD.
[52] Isaiah 12:2-3 Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid: for the LORD JEHOVAH is my strength and my song; he also is become my salvation. 3 Therefore with joy shall ye draw water out of the wells of salvation.
- Now we add another name to the list of people we’ve seen today.
- The prophet Isaiah knows that God alone is his salvation. Is Isaiah wrong oh mighty Church of Christ?
- Is Isaiah wrong oh mighty Southeast Christian? Is Isaiah wrong oh mighty Shelby Christian?
- Isaiah says, “BEHOLD GOD IS MY SALVATION; I WILL TRUST.”
- We don’t trust in ANYTHING else for salvation. Don’t add anything else to salvation.
- Jesus Christ is enough. How could you know that He’s God and act as if His sacrifice isn’t enough?
- God died for you. Will you continue to say that this isn’t enough? Give it up. You’re wrong. God is right.
Was The Prophet Isaiah Wrong?
[53] Isaiah 45:17 But Israel shall be saved in the LORD with an everlasting salvation: ye shall not be ashamed nor confounded world without end.
- Salvation means you are saved. This is past tense saved. Once you believe on Jesus Christ, you’re saved.
- God has given you EVERLASTING SALVATION. You are now one of His children of Israel. This is spiritual.
- Salvation is everlasting. This means it never goes away and it doesn’t depend on your works, bad or good.
[54] Isaiah 51:6 Lift up your eyes to the heavens, and look upon the earth beneath: for the heavens shall vanish away like smoke, and the earth shall wax old like a garment, and they that dwell therein shall die in like manner: but my salvation shall be for ever, and my righteousness shall not be abolished.
[55] Isaiah 61:10 I will greatly rejoice in the LORD, my soul shall be joyful in my God; for he hath clothed me with the garments of salvation, he hath covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decketh himself with ornaments, and as a bride adorneth herself with her jewels.
- The Bible continues to teach us that God clothes us with the garments of salvation. We don’t. We can’t.
- But churches teach that you can. They teach that you can do it yourself.
- “Your great water baptism will do it. Your great church visits will do it. Your great prayers will do it.”
- “Your great repenting of sin will do it. Your righteousness will save you because you are good.”
- That’s what they’re teaching, and it’s the exact opposite of what God teaches in this Bible.
And the proof is there each and every day. It’s right under their own nose. They know they aren’t good.
- They mess up constantly. But they still think they are good. I know because I thought that way.
- Then I actually started trying to learn the Bible and God showed me differently. His way is much simpler.
- His way is perfect. Our ways are dumb and ignorant and foolish. The proof is within you.
- “In my flesh dwelleth no good thing.” But the so-called “Christians” today think they are better than Paul.
- They act as if they are holy and never sin. What a joke. They only deceive themselves.
[56] Jeremiah 3:23 Truly in vain is salvation hoped for from the hills, and from the multitude of mountains: truly in the LORD our God is the salvation of Israel.
- Now we add Jeremiah to the list of people preaching what we’re learning today.
- “Truly in the Lord our God is the salvation of Israel.” IN HIM IS SALVATION. Not in you. IN HIM.
- You can’t do it. You can’t earn it. You can’t keep it. God does all of that for you because He can.
[57] Jonah 2:9 But I will sacrifice unto thee with the voice of thanksgiving; I will pay that that I have vowed. Salvation is of the LORD.
- Add Jonah to the list. He is a prophet of God. A book of the Bible is named after him.
- I don’t see a book named Kyle for Kyle Idleman in the Bible. Will you trust what Jonah says or Kyle?
- Will you trust Dave Hamlin or Jeremiah? Joel Osteen or Isaiah?
- GOD ALMIGHTY or all of these false preachers? Salvation is of the Lord.
[58] Micah 7:7 Therefore I will look unto the LORD; I will wait for the God of my salvation: my God will hear me.
[59] Habakkuk 3:18 Yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will joy in the God of my salvation.
[60] Zechariah 9:9 Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem: behold, thy King cometh unto thee: he is just, and having salvation; lowly, and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal of an ass.
- We just added 3 more prophets in 3 verses.
- Is this not enough for you to see that salvation is IN GOD ALONE? Seriously, wake up.
- I’m talking to all the people out there who are deceived by false churches, preachers, and denominations.
- You don’t need anything else to be saved but the Lord God Almighty. NOTHING ELSE IS REQUIRED.
- Simply trust in Him, and He says: “I will save you.” Trust in the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus.
The Sacrifice Jesus Made For You Is “THE SACRIFICE” For Sins
His sacrifice saves you. Change your mind and believe “ON” Him. Thy King cometh and He has salvation.
- Isn’t that great to know? Who has salvation for you? Jesus Christ has it. You don’t have it. Jesus does.
- You better ask Him for it. “Please Jesus save me. I believe and know that you alone can do that.”
- “I believe in you because I know you are the Son of God. I know that you are God.”
- “I know that you have all might and all power.” I want to hear this. Let’s add Zacharias to the list.
- This is John the Baptist’s dad preaching right here in Luke Chapter 1.
- Hear this. He’s filled with the Holy Ghost.
[61] Luke 1:67-69 And his father Zacharias was filled with the Holy Ghost, and prophesied, saying, 68 Blessed be the Lord God of Israel; for he hath visited and redeemed his people, 69 And hath raised up an horn of salvation for us in the house of his servant David;
[62] Luke 1:70-72 As he spake by the mouth of his holy prophets, which have been since the world began: 71 That we should be saved from our enemies, and from the hand of all that hate us; 72 To perform the mercy promised to our fathers, and to remember his holy covenant;
[63] Luke 1:73-75 The oath which he sware to our father Abraham, 74 That he would grant unto us, that we being delivered out of the hand of our enemies might serve him without fear, 75 In holiness and righteousness before him, all the days of our life.
[64] Luke 1:76-78 And thou, child, shalt be called the prophet of the Highest: for thou shalt go before the face of the Lord to prepare his ways; 77 To give knowledge of salvation unto his people by the remission of their sins, 78 Through the tender mercy of our God; whereby the dayspring from on high hath visited us,
[65] Luke 1:79-80 To give light to them that sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace. 80 And the child grew, and waxed strong in spirit, and was in the deserts till the day of his shewing unto Israel.
- God raised up an horn of salvation for us. He did it for us.
- He gives us knowledge of salvation through His prophets right here in this Bible.
- Have you seen what all of them are saying? Salvation is through the tender MERCY of our God.
- We don’t deserve it. But He’s merciful and gives us His grace. We don’t deserve salvation.
- This means we cannot work for it. John the Baptist taught this. John the Baptist preached this.
- He’s the greatest of all men who are not God. And he preached to believe on Jesus Christ to be saved.
- I absolutely love the Bible, and it always backs up our doctrine because we have it right in this church.
- Listen to what Simeon says here. He was a just and devout man the Bible says.
[66] Luke 2:25-26 And, behold, there was a man in Jerusalem, whose name was Simeon; and the same man was just and devout, waiting for the consolation of Israel: and the Holy Ghost was upon him. 26 And it was revealed unto him by the Holy Ghost, that he should not see death, before he had seen the Lord’s Christ.
- Look, there is a Christ or a Savior. Notice that there’s only one CHRIST that the Lord gives us.
- We are only saved by one. We do not save ourselves or we would be a part of Christ.
- There would be many of us saving ourselves. We aren’t the Christ. We aren’t the Savior.
- Simeon wasn’t going to die until he saw the Lord’s Christ.
[67] Luke 2:27-29 And he came by the Spirit into the temple: and when the parents brought in the child Jesus, to do for him after the custom of the law, 28 Then took he him up in his arms, and blessed God, and said, 29 Lord, now lettest thou thy servant depart in peace, according to thy word:
[68] Luke 2:30-32 For mine eyes have seen thy salvation, 31 Which thou hast prepared before the face of all people; 32 A light to lighten the Gentiles, and the glory of thy people Israel.
- Simeon says, “I have seen THY SALVATION.” Salvation is right here and his name is Jesus.
- Simeon, through the Holy Ghost, just said that. Do you trust what he says or not? Jesus is salvation.
- The very eyes of Simeon have seen God’s salvation.
[69] Luke 19:5 And when Jesus came to the place, he looked up, and saw him, and said unto him, Zacchaeus, make haste, and come down; for to day I must abide at thy house.
[70] Luke 19:9-10 And Jesus said unto him, This day is salvation come to this house, forsomuch as he also is a son of Abraham. 10 For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.
- Jesus is salvation and salvation is come to the house of Zacchaeus. Jesus is salvation and He seeks to save.
- If you’re listening to this sermon today and are lost, Jesus is seeking you right now.
- He brought you here to HEAR THIS TODAY. He is seeking you. He will save you right now.
- Will you take the cup of salvation and call upon the Lord? Trust Him and call Him.
- I want to add the apostle Paul to the list that believe on the Lord Jesus Christ for salvation. Hear this.
What Does Paul Say About Salvation?
[71] Acts 13:26 Men and brethren, children of the stock of Abraham, and whosoever among you feareth God, to you is the word of this salvation sent.
- What’s this word of salvation that Paul is preaching? Let’s look down to verse 38 of Acts Chapter 13.
[72] Acts 13:38-39 Be it known unto you therefore, men and brethren, that through this man is preached unto you the forgiveness of sins: 39 And by him all that believe are justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses.
- Forgiveness of sins only comes through Jesus Christ. It’s not Jesus plus other things. It’s nothing else.
- “And by HIM all that believe are justified from all things.” You simply believe in Jesus Christ.
- Believing that it’s only Jesus that saves is called believing in Him.
- If you add other things, it’s not believing “IN HIM.” It’s not faith in Him alone.
[73] Acts 16:17 The same followed Paul and us, and cried, saying, These men are the servants of the most high God, which shew unto us the way of salvation.
- The servants of God will show you the true way of salvation. That’s what you’ve seen in the Bible today.
- The prophets of God are showing you the way. And Jesus Christ is the way, the truth, and the life.
- There is no other way. Don’t make up your own way. Don’t listen to false churches.
- If their way of salvation is not Jesus alone, then they don’t have the way of salvation.
- They have the way to hell. Understand that right now.
[74] Romans 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
[75] Ephesians 1:13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,
- To be saved right now, hear these words of truth. Salvation is in Jesus Christ and His works.
- Salvation is in His sacrifice that He made for you. Believe in that and you are saved.
[76] 1 Thessalonians 5:9 For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,
- We obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ.
[77] 2 Thessalonians 2:13 But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth:
- Believe the truth and you are chosen for salvation.
[78] 2 Timothy 2:10 Therefore I endure all things for the elect’s sakes, that they may also obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory.
[79] 2 Timothy 3:15 And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.
- Faith in Christ Jesus saves you.
[80] Titus 2:13-14 Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; 14 Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.
[81] 2 Peter 3:15 And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you;
[82] Jude 3 Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.
- Add Jude to the list. Salvation is by faith in Christ Jesus. That’s it.
- And we are to contend for that way of salvation. That’s I wrote this sermon. CONTEND FOR THIS WAY.
- The entire Bible teaches this from cover to cover. Faith in Jesus Christ saves you. That’s it.
- I hope you’ve seen so much of the truth today that you can’t deny it any longer. Be saved right now.
- Put all your trust in Jesus Christ alone. Salvation is in Him and through Him and by Him.
Let’s pray.
