[2] The title of the sermon: “JESUS INCREASED IN WISDOM.”

Why Would Jesus Need To Increase In Wisdom?

• There are a couple of Scriptures in the Bible that are very difficult to comprehend and understand.
• We know 100% for sure that Jesus, the Son of God, is also “THE” Creator and “THE” God.
• We know that Jesus isn’t God the Father but we do know that Jesus is God.
• God the Father is the one true God. Jesus Christ is the one true God. The Holy Spirit is the one true God.

[3] Hebrews 1:8 But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom.

• God the Father calls Jesus Christ God. Unto the Son, He saith: “Thy throne, O GOD, is forever and ever.”
• If that’s not enough o convince you Jesus is God, then nothing will.
• The highest of all, in heaven, calls Jesus Christ “GOD.”
• Hebrews Chapter 1 right there is quoting Psalm Chapter 45 which is prophesying about Jesus Christ.

[4] Psalm 45:6-7 Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: the sceptre of thy kingdom is a right sceptre. 7 Thou lovest righteousness, and hatest wickedness: therefore God, thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.

• Because Jesus Christ loves righteousness and hates wickedness AT ALL TIMES and never sins, He is God.
• Therefore God, thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.
• Jesus became HUMAN. Jesus became flesh. In His flesh just like our flesh, He was perfect.
• He proved that He is God.

[5] Isaiah 7:14 Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.

• Immanuel means God with us. The name of Jesus is Immanuel. GOD WITH US. Jesus is God.

[6] Matthew 1:23 Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.

• The entire Bible teaches us that Jesus is God. From front to back. Genesis to Revelation. Jesus is God.

[7] Isaiah 9:6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counseller, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

• Jesus is called “THE” MIGHTY GOD.

[8] John 10:30 I and my Father are one.

• The Father and the Son are ONE GOD but they are different persons in the ONE GOD.
• Jesus is ONE with His Father. What does that make Jesus? GOD ALMIGHTY.
• On His own, Jesus is God. The Father is God on His own. The Holy Spirit is God on His own.

[9] 1 John 5:7 For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.

• Jesus Christ is the Word of God. He is God.

[10] John 1:1-3 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 The same was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

• Jesus was with God in the very beginning before ANYTHING was made. Jesus was not made.
• Jesus is everlasting. He has always been there, and He will always be there.
• “THE WORD WAS GOD.” That’s what the Bible says. That’s what God Himself says.
• “ALL THINGS WERE MADE BY HIM.” By who? God. Jesus Christ. The Word of God. That’s who.

[11] John 10:33 The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God.

• The Pharisees knew what Jesus was telling them. He was telling them that He is God.
• They said, “You’re just a man and you’re making yourself out to be God.”
• Jesus told them over and over again that He is God. They wouldn’t believe Him.

[12] John 20:28 And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God.

• Thomas called Jesus “GOD.” And Jesus didn’t rebuke Thomas at all. Why? Because Jesus is God.

[13] 1 John 5:20 And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.

• THIS IS THE TRUE GOD. Jesus Christ is the Son of God, and He is the true God.

[14] Revelation 1:8 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.

• That’s Jesus Christ speaking right there. He tells that He is the beginning and the end.
• He was and He is to come. HE IS THE ALMIGHTY. What’s that mean? Jesus is God Almighty.

[15] Revelation 22:13 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last.

• So, I believe that’s enough Scripture to prove to you that Jesus is God. If it’s not, you have a faith problem.
• You need to hear the word of God and simply believe what it says. We all have those problems at times.
• God the Father tells us that Jesus is God. Jesus Christ Himself tells us that He is God.
• And the Holy Spirit through the words in this Bible and within us tells us that Jesus is God.

Jesus Is Not God The Father But He Is God

The Bible never says Jesus is God the Father.

• Jesus is the Father of everlasting because we ONLY have everlasting life through Jesus Christ.
• He is the Father of everlasting life, but He is CLEARLY NOT God the Father. He never says that He is.
• He always tells us: “There is another. My Father in heaven. My God in heaven. My Father sent me.”
• “I do not bear witness of myself but my Father bears witness of me.”
• A voice from heaven comes and says, “THIS IS MY BELOVED SON.” Jesus is the Son of God and is God.
• With that said, we know that Jesus is God. The Bible is VERY CLEAR on that fact. It is 100% fact.
• Now, let’s look at the subject verse for this sermon: “Jesus Increased In Wisdom.”

[16] Luke 2:52 And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man.

• So, we have to know where we are in the Bible. We’re in Luke Chapter 2.
• We see in Luke Chapter 2 that Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man.
• This is probably the most difficult Scripture in all the Bible for me personally.
• That’s why I wrote this sermon. It should be a very difficult Scripture for you as well.
• There’s no question or doubt in my mind that the words right there are 100% truth.
• Why is this such a difficult verse? Well, once we finish the study today, it won’t be so difficult.
• It actually makes perfect sense as the Bible always does.

You can make this statement: “If Jesus increased in wisdom right there, that means He didn’t have all wisdom.”

• That means at that point in time, He didn’t know everything. He didn’t have all knowledge.
• Some people, usually from the religion of Islam, will use that as proof that Jesus wasn’t God.
• But, we just went over many Scriptures that easily prove that Jesus is God. Right? You saw all of them.
• And that’s a just a few. If we went over all of them, it would take many, many, many sermons.
• The entire Bible proves that Jesus is God, but followers of false religions will pull out that verse there.
• They will target that verse because they don’t understand the Bible as a whole.

You could say: “Jesus is God. He is God from everlasting to everlasting. He never stopped being God.”

• He is the eternal God. He has always known everything. He is the beginning and the end. THE ALMIGHTY.
• He has always been filled with wisdom above all men. But what happened right there?
• He wasn’t filled with all wisdom? He had to increase in wisdom and in favor with God? WHAT???
• Yes, it’s a very difficult Scripture. We simply must have faith in the word of God and believe the Scriptures.
• Yes, Jesus increased in wisdom. So, where are we in the Bible? Luke Chapter 2. Let’s back up a little.

What happens in Luke Chapter 1? We learn about Zacharias and Elisabeth.

• We see they are with child and that child is John the Baptist. Then we see Mary the mother of Jesus.
• The angel Gabriel shows up to Mary in Nazareth a city of Galilee.

[17] Luke 1:26-27 And in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city of Galilee, named Nazareth, 27 To a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin’s name was Mary.

• We know that Mary is a virgin and she is going to be married to Joseph.
• Being a virgin means that she had never been with a man.
• And there’s no way she would be pregnant by man.

[18] Luke 1:28-30 And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women. 29 And when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and cast in her mind what manner of salutation this should be. 30 And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God.

[19] Luke 1:31-33 And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS. 32 He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David: 33 And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end.

• Gabriel tells Mary that she will bring forth a Son and He will be the Son of the highest. His name is Jesus.

[20] Luke 1:34 Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man?

• Again, we get another witness here. Mary says, “I have not known a man. How will I have a child?”
• We know that Mary is a virgin. The Bible tells us so over and over again. How will she have a child?

[21] Luke 1:35 And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.

• “The baby that you’re going to have Mary is the SON OF GOD.” The Holy Ghost will overshadow thee.
• How was she going to be with child? Through the Holy Ghost.

[22] Luke 1:36-37 And, behold, thy cousin Elisabeth, she hath also conceived a son in her old age: and this is the sixth month with her, who was called barren. 37 For with God nothing shall be impossible.

• That’s the key to the answer to this sermon: “Jesus Increased In Wisdom.”
• Well, if He was always God then how did He increase in wisdom. Verse 37 answers this.
• And as we go through the sermon today, you’ll see how this is the answer.
• “For with God nothing shall be impossible.”

[23] Luke 18:27 And he said, The things which are impossible with men are possible with God.

[24] Genesis 18:14 Is any thing too hard for the LORD? At the time appointed I will return unto thee, according to the time of life, and Sarah shall have a son.

• Nothing is too hard for the Lord. God can do anything at any time.

[25] Jeremiah 32:17 Ah Lord GOD! behold, thou hast made the heaven and the earth by thy great power and stretched out arm, and there is nothing too hard for thee:

[26] Jeremiah 32:27 Behold, I am the LORD, the God of all flesh: is there any thing too hard for me?

[27] Mark 10:27 And Jesus looking upon them saith, With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible.

• I’ve asked this question many times.
• If Jesus is the Almighty and EVERLASTING God, how in the world did He become flesh?
• How in the world did He not have all wisdom right there in Luke Chapter 2?
• Look, nothing is impossible for God. God made Jesus flesh. This was God’s plan from the beginning.
• As we move into Luke Chapter 2, we see this.

[28] Luke 2:6-7 And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered. 7 And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.

• This is earlier in Luke Chapter 2.
• Remember, we learn that Jesus increased in wisdom at the end of Luke Chapter 2.
• Jesus came very quietly into this world. There was no room for Him to be delivered in a nice room.
• This is God Almighty, in the flesh, coming into this world and He’s born in a manger.
• A manger is a trough or box in which food is laid for animals like horses or cattle.
• That’s where the Son of God, the everlasting God, our Savior was born. Understand that.

[29] Isaiah 53:2-3 For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him. 3 He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.

• Jesus is a lowly King. He is the most humble of all humble. He’s showing us who He is.
• He didn’t need to come into the world with a BANG. He could have done things so much differently.
• Then, if He did it that way, the people who aren’t His people would have loved Him.
• He would have been like the rock stars, the movie stars, and the kings of this world.
• People worship them for their money, their power, and their riches. That’s not what Jesus wants.
• So He did it His way. He did it the Father’s way. He was despised and rejected of men.
• He was acquainted with grief. He didn’t have an easy life here on Earth. Understand that.

[30] Matthew 8:20 And Jesus saith unto him, The foxes have holes, and the birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head.

• He didn’t have a home. He didn’t have a place to lay His head.

[31] John 1:9-11 That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world. 10 He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not. 11 He came unto his own, and his own received him not.

[32] John 1:12-13 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: 13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

[33] John 1:14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

• His own people received Him not. Most of them didn’t believe what He said. Why?
• Because He was just the carpenter’s son. He was just the son of Joseph who was a man.
• That’s what they thought. Except Mary wasn’t pregnant by Joseph.
• Mary was pregnant through the Holy Ghost.

The Word Of God Was Made Flesh

“AND THE WORD WAS MADE FLESH.” That’s important to understand for this sermon.

• Again, Jesus the Son of God was made into FLESH. That was a miracle. Only God could do that.
• How could God be made into this lowly flesh like us? We came from the dirt. We are lowly.
• Though, we don’t think we are throughout our life. BUT WE ARE.
• And Jesus, who is God Almighty, was made FLESH. And He dwelt among us.

[34] 2 Corinthians 8:9 For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich.

• He was in heaven. He was from heaven. He was from everlasting. He is to everlasting.
• He was the richest of rich there in heaven because He is God Almighty.
• “Though He was rich, YET for YOUR SAKES He became poor.” Becoming flesh is becoming poor.
• We’re all poor. Understand that right now. We might think we’re rich.

[35] 1 Timothy 6:7 For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.

• We aren’t taking anything with us.

[36] Psalm 49:17 For when he dieth he shall carry nothing away: his glory shall not descend after him.

• All of these things of this world are nothing. God knows that. Jesus became poor for us.
• Through Jesus becoming flesh just like us, THROUGH HIS POVERTY, we might be rich.
• And what does that mean? Worldly riches? No way. Heavenly riches. That’s rich.
• That’s where Jesus came from. He’s from heaven. He was made flesh.

He has always existed, but He was made into flesh for us. Not for Himself. He didn’t need to do that.

• He was already in heaven with riches, and power, and glory. But yet He came here for us.
• He came here to save His creation. And all we have to do is believe what He says and trust Him.
• If we continue in Luke Chapter 2, what do we see next? We know that Jesus was just born as a baby.
• That’s exactly like us. He didn’t skip any parts of the process. NONE. He came just like we do.

[37] Luke 2:10-11 And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. 11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.

• We should have great joy because that baby Jesus was born THAT DAY!!! He is Christ the Lord.

[38] Luke 2:13-14 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, 14 Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.

• We see the shepherds go to find Jesus in Bethlehem.

[39] Luke 2:16 And they came with haste, and found Mary, and Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger.

• They ran to find Jesus. We see some time pass in Luke Chapter 2. We see Jesus brought to the temple.
• We see a man named Simeon prophesy about Jesus. We see Anna the prophetess speak of Jesus.

[40] Luke 2:38 And she coming in that instant gave thanks likewise unto the Lord, and spake of him to all them that looked for redemption in Jerusalem.

• This child here is your redemption. He is your salvation. He is YOUR CHRIST, YOUR SAVIOR.
• What??? This child here is going to save us??? He is just a child. His parents are just Joseph and Mary.
• He’s just like us. How is He going to save us? Hey, look, this was God’s plan.

[41] Luke 2:39-40 And when they had performed all things according to the law of the Lord, they returned into Galilee, to their own city Nazareth. 40 And the child grew, and waxed strong in spirit, filled with wisdom: and the grace of God was upon him.

• Jesus grew. He waxed strong in the spirit. He was filled with wisdom. The grace of God was upon Him.
• As a child, He is filled with wisdom. But not all wisdom because of what we learn a few verses down.
• Let’s see where we are in Luke Chapter 2, though. Let’s keep going. Jesus was a baby.
• Jesus was growing. Time is passing. Now, let’s read verse 41 and 42.

[42] Luke 2:41-42 Now his parents went to Jerusalem every year at the feast of the passover. 42 And when he was twelve years old, they went up to Jerusalem after the custom of the feast.

• Now we see that Jesus is 12 years old in Luke Chapter 2.

[43] Luke 2:42-44 And when he was twelve years old, they went up to Jerusalem after the custom of the feast. 43 And when they had fulfilled the days, as they returned, the child Jesus tarried behind in Jerusalem; and Joseph and his mother knew not of it. 44 But they, supposing him to have been in the company, went a day’s journey; and they sought him among their kinsfolk and acquaintance.

[44] Luke 2:45-47 And when they found him not, they turned back again to Jerusalem, seeking him. 46 And it came to pass, that after three days they found him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the doctors, both hearing them, and asking them questions. 47 And all that heard him were astonished at his understanding and answers.

• Now, we see Him teaching the very smart men in the temple.

[45] Luke 2:48-50 And when they saw him, they were amazed: and his mother said unto him, Son, why hast thou thus dealt with us? behold, thy father and I have sought thee sorrowing. 49 And he said unto them, How is it that ye sought me? wist ye not that I must be about my Father’s business? 50 And they understood not the saying which he spake unto them.

• At that moment right there, we learn that Jesus knew who His Father was.
• It wasn’t Joseph at all. He was talking about His Father in heaven.
• “Wist ye not that I must be about MY FATHER’S business?”
• Joseph and Mary, with all that they had seen and heard, didn’t understand.
• The angel Gabriel appeared to Mary before Jesus was born and told her. But she still didn’t get it.

[46] Luke 2:51-52 And he went down with them, and came to Nazareth, and was subject unto them: but his mother kept all these sayings in her heart. 52 And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man.

• There’s the subject verse for this sermon right at the end of Luke Chapter 2.
• Now you understand the context a little more.
• Even at the age of 12 years old, Jesus didn’t have ALL WISDOM and He didn’t have all knowledge.
• How could that be? He was MADE into flesh just like us. He was made lower.

[47] Matthew 16:17 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Bar-jona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.

• All throughout the Gospels, we learn that the Father of Jesus reveals things to Him.
• We see that God the Father teaches Jesus things.

[48] John 8:28 Then said Jesus unto them, When ye have lifted up the Son of man, then shall ye know that I am he, and that I do nothing of myself; but as my Father hath taught me, I speak these things.

• Notice exactly what it says: “But as my Father hath taught me, I speak these things.”
• We can’t ignore these Scriptures. I haven’t fully understood them. But now I’m starting to see.
• How can Jesus be God but need knowledge and wisdom? How can He be taught? HE IS GOD.
• He is always God. He has always been God. He will NEVER stop being God.
• So how was He taught? How did He not have all wisdom and knowledge at all times?

[49] 1 Timothy 3:16 And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.

• Great is the mystery of GODLINESS!!! Yes it is. It’s not easy to understand at God’s level.
• He’s the only one who can give us the understanding, the knowledge, and the wisdom.
• We are flesh. We are not from heaven. JESUS is GOD manifest in the flesh. He was made flesh.
• Why? What’s the purpose of Jesus becoming low like us? Why did He become flesh?

[50] 1 John 3:5 And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin.

• He was manifest in the flesh to become OUR SAVIOR. He took on all our sin to save us.
• He became just like us so He could save us from our sins. How could He do that?
• Because “IN HIM IS NO SIN.” There is no one but Jesus Christ in this flesh that hasn’t sinned.

[51] Hebrews 7:3 Without father, without mother, without descent, having neither beginning of days, nor end of life; but made like unto the Son of God; abideth a priest continually.

• Jesus, the Son of God, doesn’t have a father or a mother like we do. He is without descent.
• What??? I thought His Father was in heaven? I thought His mother was Mary.
• No, we’re talking about Jesus Christ who is God Almighty.
• He didn’t begin to exist when He was born as a child to Mary.

Jesus Is Eternal So He Doesn’t Have A Father Or Mother

God the Father doesn’t have a wife who had Jesus as a child in heaven. Jesus is ETERNAL.

• He didn’t have a beginning. He doesn’t have an ending. As a human, He had a beginning.
• BUT NOT AS GOD. His Father in heaven is the ONE He takes orders from. There is a heavenly order.
• And God shows us that order in the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. But those 3 are 1.
• Since there are 3 persons in ONE GOD, there MUST be an order.

[52] Hebrews 7:24-25 But this man, because he continueth ever, hath an unchangeable priesthood. 25 Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.

[53] Hebrews 7:26-27 For such an high priest became us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens; 27 Who needeth not daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifice, first for his own sins, and then for the people’s: for this he did once, when he offered up himself.

[54] Hebrews 7:28 For the law maketh men high priests which have infirmity; but the word of the oath, which was since the law, maketh the Son, who is consecrated for evermore.

• Jesus Christ HAD TO BE MADE flesh or we wouldn’t be able to go to heaven.
• God didn’t leave His creation on their own. He came perfectly with perfect timing to save us.
• He is HOLY, undefiled, separate from sinners. He never sinned in His flesh.
• He is consecrated or made sacred forever. He is THE SAVIOR OF THE WORLD.
• He was made flesh in order to become our Savior. And He did it. Was it easy?

If He would have came in power and great glory as He could have done, it wouldn’t have been so difficult for Him.

• But no, He didn’t come in that manner. He came into this world just like we do.
• He had to grow in wisdom and knowledge just as we do.

[55] John 4:6 Now Jacob’s well was there. Jesus therefore, being wearied with his journey, sat thus on the well: and it was about the sixth hour.

• Jesus became tired just as we do. Do you see that? He worked hard, and He took a break.
• God doesn’t get tired, but He was made flesh for us. He cried. He wept. He sweated blood.
• He was tempted in His flesh. As God, He cannot be tempted. This proves He was made flesh just like us.

[56] Romans 1:3-4 Concerning his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh; 4 And declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead:

• Jesus has ALWAYS been the Son of God, but He was made of the seed of David according to the flesh.
• He was declared to be the Son of God with power by the resurrection from the dead.

[57] 1 Corinthians 15:47 The first man is of the earth, earthy: the second man is the Lord from heaven.

• Jesus was made into man.

[58] Galatians 4:4-5 But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law, 5 To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons.

• Jesus was made man and was made under the law. He was just like us. He had to follow the law.
• All of these things in the Bible, He followed them perfectly IN HIS FLESH just like ours.

[59] Philippians 2:6-8 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: 7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: 8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

• As a man on this earth, He was equal with God. Why? Because He was perfect at every instance.
• He was GOOD all the time. I can’t even go one day without sinning. Obviously, I’m not God.
• Jesus never sinned once. That made Him equal with God at all times.
• He made Himself of ZERO REPUTATION. That’s how He came into this world.
• Every child that comes into this world comes with ZERO REPUTATION.
• He was made in the likeness of men. God had to be made in the likeness of men to save us.
• He HUMBLED HIMSELF because He had to. He was obedient unto death. To who? TO GOD.

[60] Hebrews 2:10-12 For it became him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings. 11 For both he that sanctifieth and they who are sanctified are all of one: for which cause he is not ashamed to call them brethren, 12 Saying, I will declare thy name unto my brethren, in the midst of the church will I sing praise unto thee.

• Jesus is not ashamed to call us brethren. Why? Because He became one of us.
• If He were something that we weren’t, how could He say that He knows what it’s like to be us?
• God already knows us very well. He made us. Of course we would ask and tempt God.
• We would say: “God, how do you know what it feels like to be one of us?”
• “You don’t know how tough it is to be down here.” Right? Of course we would.
• But Jesus says, “I am not ashamed to call you brethren. I’ve been there. I’ve done that.”
• “I know what it’s like.”

[61] Hebrews 2:14-16 Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil; 15 And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage. 16 For verily he took not on him the nature of angels; but he took on him the seed of Abraham.

• Jesus also Himself LIKEWISE took part of the same. He took part in flesh and blood just like you and I.
• Why? So He could destroy the devil that has the power of death. The devil wants us all dead like him.
• Jesus came in this flesh and blood to deliver us.
• He didn’t become like an angel that is higher than flesh and blood. He didn’t do it that way.

[62] Psalm 8:5 For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour.

[63] Hebrews 2:7 Thou madest him a little lower than the angels; thou crownedst him with glory and honour, and didst set him over the works of thy hands:

[64] Hebrews 2:9 But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man.

• He didn’t come as one of the angels from heaven. He was made lower than that. He was made like us.
• If He wasn’t made just like us, the Bible would be lying to us. God isn’t lying to us.
• He became just like us. He took on the seed of Abraham. He is “THE” seed of Abraham.

[65] Hebrews 2:17-18 Wherefore in all things it behoved him to be made like unto his brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people. 18 For in that he himself hath suffered being tempted, he is able to succour them that are tempted.

• Jesus was MADE just like His brethren. He was made that way to reconcile our sins.
• He was tempted, but never failed in temptation. Because of that, He is able succour or help us.
• He is the only one who can save us because HHHe was made just like us. He is our Savior.
• Without Him, we won’t make it to heaven. He’s the only one resurrected from the dead.

[66] Hebrews 10:5-6 Wherefore when he cometh into the world, he saith, Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not, but a body hast thou prepared me: 6 In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin thou hast had no pleasure.

• A body just like ours was prepared for Jesus Christ. If you don’t believe that, listen to this next Scripture.

[67] 1 John 4:2-3 Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: 3 And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.

• He came in the FLESH just like we do. He came into the world as a child just like us.
• If you don’t confess that today, then you are antichrist right now. You don’t want to be against Jesus.
• Jesus, obviously, came into the world as a child. He was born in a manger with a fleshly mother.
• That fleshly mother didn’t understand all of it. Jesus didn’t understand it all.

Jesus Didn’t Have All Wisdom And Knowledge As A Child

He didn’t have all wisdom and knowledge as a child or He wouldn’t have been just like us.

• He grew in wisdom. Jesus increased in wisdom. His Father helped Him and taught Him. Why?
• Because He did everything He asked and never did anything wrong.
• Can we increase in wisdom and knowledge? Yes, but we’ll never increase as quickly as Jesus did.
• From the time Jesus was born as a child until the time He died on the cross, He was just like us.
• Did He have much greater wisdom and knowledge than us? YES HE DID. Was He God? YES HE WAS.
• Jesus has NEVER stopped being God. He is the everlasting God. He is Alpha and Omega.
• He is the beginning and He is the end. There is no question about that.

With all that said, I believe Jesus came to earth and was just like us in human nature.

• He gets tired, He gets angry, He cries, He gets frustrated, He has pain, He hurts.
• He was upset that His own brethren wouldn’t believe Him. He was tempted just as we are.
• He got hungry and thirsty just as we do. He had to work hard just like we do.
• HE BECAME AS ONE OF US. And He can say that He knows how it feels.
• He didn’t have a home. People hated Him just like they’ll hate us. They hated Him first, though.
• He was anointed with the Holy Spirit. He did great miracles through God and not through Himself.
• He never used God to get what He wanted in His flesh. He didn’t even think about it.
• He had to study the Scriptures just like we do. He didn’t already know everything when He was born.

[68] Matthew 21:42 Jesus saith unto them, Did ye never read in the scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner: this is the Lord’s doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes?

• Jesus learned the Scriptures. He was teaching the Scriptures in the temple at an early age.
• He went about His Father’s business. You have the same Father in heaven. Be like Jesus.
• “Did ye never read in the Scriptures?” You won’t learn as fast as Jesus because you mess up often.
• But you can take spurts in your life and be like Jesus. Learn the Scriptures. He did. He had to, and He did.

[69] Matthew 22:29 Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God.

[70] Mark 14:49 I was daily with you in the temple teaching, and ye took me not: but the scriptures must be fulfilled.

[71] Luke 4:16-17 And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up for to read. 17 And there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Esaias. And when he had opened the book, he found the place where it was written,

[72] Luke 4:18-19 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, 19 To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.

[73] Luke 4:20-21 And he closed the book, and he gave it again to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on him. 21 And he began to say unto them, This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears.

• Read the Bible, study the Bible, and learn just like Jesus learned when He was made flesh.
• This is why we have no excuse. Jesus was made just like us, and He did it. No excuses.

[74] John 5:39 Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.

• Jesus knew who He was while He was here on earth.
• But He didn’t have all wisdom and knowledge from a baby. How is that possible? He is God.
• How did He not have all wisdom? How did He increase in wisdom?
• We know that Jesus HAD TO BE MADE FLESH. The Scriptures tell us that. He was made flesh.
• He wasn’t some type of hybrid like the false preachers will say. He didn’t have special powers on His own.
• He became exactly FLESH just like we are right now. He was exactly like us, but He was perfect.
• He never sinned. He never messed up once. He trusted His Father in heaven, and His Father helped Him.
• Jesus worked hard, and His Father in heaven helped Him. He didn’t sit around and do nothing.
• He didn’t miraculously know everything. HE WORKED FOR IT.

[75] John 5:17-18 But Jesus answered them, My Father worketh hitherto, and I work. 18 Therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he not only had broken the sabbath, but said also that God was his Father, making himself equal with God.

• God is telling us that we can work for it too. We can increase in wisdom just as Jesus did.
• Not as fast. Not even close. But we can increase in wisdom.
• Jesus is proof of that because He was just like us.

[76] Luke 2:52 And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man.

• So, that is the subject Scripture for this sermon. That was a very difficult Scripture before I studied.
• But all the Scripture in the Bible always comes together perfectly.
• I’ve asked in the past: “How could Jesus not be filled with all wisdom? He is God.”
• And now, I understand. The Scriptures always help us to understand.
• So now I ask: “How could Jesus not have to increase in wisdom? He was made just like us.”
• Once Jesus arose from the dead, He received a new and glorified body.
• He is the first begotten from the dead.

[77] Acts 13:33 God hath fulfilled the same unto us their children, in that he hath raised up Jesus again; as it is also written in the second psalm, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee.

• Jesus was declared to be the SON OF GOD by the resurrection of the dead. He arose on the third day.
• He was dead, but now He is alive forevermore. He never stopped being God, or He wouldn’t have made it.
• Just because God died for us, it sure doesn’t mean He stopped being God at any time.
• Just because He was made flesh it sure doesn’t mean He stopped being God.
• Just because He had to increase in wisdom, it sure doesn’t mean He wasn’t God.
• He was always sinless even in His flesh. Because of that, we have even more proof that HE IS GOD.
• Because He had to increase in wisdom and YET He stayed perfect, there’s more proof He is God.

[78] Luke 2:52 And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man.

• So, for the false religions that attempt to use that Scripture as proof that Jesus isn’t God, you’ve only made the case stronger.
• Do you understand what Jesus did IN THE FLESH? NO ONE can do anything like that.
• He was made just like us by a miracle of God because nothing is too hard for the Lord.
• And He stayed perfect in the flesh without all wisdom and knowledge. That’s amazing!!!
• Understand that today. And THAT is why I love the Bible. It’s always the truth. It’s always AMAZING.

We Will Not Ignore The Holy Scriptures

I hope you’ve seen this today, and I hope you see that we don’t shy away from the word of God here.

• Most other churches and preachers would never touch this Scripture.
• Or, they say things like: “Jesus was both God and man at the same time.”
• “Jesus had all wisdom at that time but only the God part of Him. Not the flesh part of Him.”
• Look, the Bible doesn’t say anything like that. Jesus became flesh and never stopped being God.

The Bible never says Jesus has two natures and sometimes He uses His God nature and other times He uses His fleshly nature.

• We don’t get to make things up that lead to false doctrine and heresy.
• Some false religions will say that God didn’t die on the cross because God cannot die.
• “That was only the fleshly part of Jesus that died.” Hey, Jesus says He died on the cross.

[79] Revelation 1:18 I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.

• All we need to do is listen to the Scriptures and stop adding other things to them.
• HE WAS DEAD. Jesus, as God, died on the cross for us. He’s the same yesterday, today, and forever.
• He’s not a different Jesus at different times throughout the Bible. HE IS OUR SAVIOR, and He is amazing.
• He was made flesh because He is our Savior. He was made lower just like us and exactly like us.
• If He ever stopped being God during any time, He wouldn’t have made it as our Savior.

[80] John 4:42 And said unto the woman, Now we believe, not because of thy saying: for we have heard him ourselves, and know that this is indeed the Christ, the Saviour of the world.

• We KNOW that He is the SAVIOR of the world so we know that He never stopped being God.
• We thank you for working so hard to increase wisdom while you were made flesh.
• We thank you for allowing yourself as God to be made a little lower than the angels.
• We thank you Jesus for what you did for us. We thank you so much.
