[2] The title of the sermon: “YOUR REDEMPTION DRAWETH NIGH.”
- The Bible talks about us being redeemed. There are songs about our redemption.
- Do you know exactly what the Bible means by your redemption draweth nigh or near?
- Today, we’re going to find exactly what this means.
- We’re also going to see why it’s so important for the order of end times events.
[3] Luke 21:28 And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.
- “YOUR REDEMPTION DRAWETH NIGH.” We’ll talk about that more later.
- But I want you to notice where we are in the Bible. We are in Luke Chapter 21.
- Do you remember what this chapter is about? This chapter is about end times events.
- In other words, in the end times, our redemption will draw near. It will be closer than ever.
The verse right there says, “And when these things come to pass, THEN LOOK UP, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.”
- What things? What will we be looking for? We’re going to look upwards?
- If we’re still alive on this earth when these things happen, we will look up.
- Our redemption is near.
- So, we’re going to study what our redemption actually is and we’ll see when it will actually happen.
- This is very important because this will be one of, if not the greatest days, in all of eternity for us.
The day Jesus was born is up there high on the list. The day Jesus arose from the dead is up there high on the list.
- The second coming of Jesus Christ is high on the list. The day of redemption is high on the list.
- The day Satan is thrown into hell is high on the list. The day he is cast into the lake of fire is high.
- The day when all evil and wickedness is done away with will be very high on that list.
The day that God the Father comes to dwell with us is the highest. There is none higher than Him.
- There will be no greater day than that. No more tears. No more crying. No more sorrow. No more pain.
- I’m just telling you right now.
- There will be no greater day than when the majesty on high comes down to be with us.
- There shall be no night there. There shall be no candles. No light of the sun. For God gives us light.
We were talking when reading the Bible the other day at lunch.
- We were explaining the center of the earth to Emma.
- We talked about how the earth moves around the sun. The sun isn’t God but the sun was created by God.
- I believe the sun is a picture of God. He is the light of the earth. The sun is just a picture of that.
- His creation speaks of Him. Notice that the earth revolves around the sun.
- The sun doesn’t revolve around the earth. God is in control. He doesn’t revolve around us.
- We revolve around Him. We go where He says we can go. He sets the limits. We don’t.
So, there will be many great days for us to look forward to. Going to heaven will be amazingly great.
- That day of death might be scary to some. If you’re saved, it’s not scary any more.
- We look forward to it. It will be a great day. The day of redemption will be a great day.
- Not the greatest but an absolutely great day and one of the best ever.
So, let’s see what happens directly before our redemption draws near. We’ll go back to Luke Chapter 21.
- We’ll start there in verse 7 of Luke Chapter 21.
- We know that this is speaking of end times events and the second coming of Jesus Christ.
[4] Luke 21:7-9 And they asked him, saying, Master, but when shall these things be? and what sign will there be when these things shall come to pass? 8 And he said, Take heed that ye be not deceived: for many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and the time draweth near: go ye not therefore after them. 9 But when ye shall hear of wars and commotions, be not terrified: for these things must first come to pass; but the end is not by and by.
- This is speaking of the tribulation. Parallel passages are in Matthew 24 and Mark 13.
- Before we see Jesus Christ again, many other will come saying, “I AM CHRIST.”
- Many preachers today believe they are the Christ. But, obviously, they are not.
- This will get much worse. Most people will be deceived. Many won’t even care.
- There will be wars. Be not terrified. The end is not here yet.
[5] Luke 21:10-11 Then said he unto them, Nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: 11 And great earthquakes shall be in divers places, and famines, and pestilences; and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven.
- If you match up the seals in the Book of Revelation, they will align perfectly with all these signs.
- Jesus tells us to LOOK FOR THESE THINGS. Watch out for these things.
- Nation against nation. Kingdom against kingdom. Great earthquakes. Famines. Pestilences.
Fearful sights. For example, a woman set herself on fire the other day when a police officer pulled her over.
- People are losing it. It will get much, much worse than this and much, much more fearful than this.
- All of these things will happen before our redemption draweth nigh. Let’s keep going.
[6] Luke 21:12 But before all these, they shall lay their hands on you, and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues, and into prisons, being brought before kings and rulers for my name’s sake.
- If you’re still alive during the tribulation, make sure you hear and remember these Scriptures.
- These are very important to remember. They will take you. The rulers of this world will take you.
- They will persecute you. They will deliver you to the synagogues of Satan.
They will send you to prisons. They will bring you before kings and rulers for His name’s sake.
- This might be scary to you, but it sure shouldn’t be. You’re being delivered up for His name.
- That is a great honor to have. Do you not think God will take care of you?
- But listen to this next verse. Remember this.
[7] Luke 21:13-15 And it shall turn to you for a testimony. 14 Settle it therefore in your hearts, not to meditate before what ye shall answer: 15 For I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries shall not be able to gainsay nor resist.
- Settle it therefore in your heart. Right now. Go ahead and settle this.
- If you are ever delivered up for His name’s sake, don’t come up with what you’ll say.
- Give God the control. Don’t come up with a pre-mediated answer.
- God says, “For I will give you a mouth of wisdom.”
- They won’t be able to gainsay or resist the mouth of wisdom that Jesus gives you.
- He’s already shown this within many examples in the Bible.
And again, these things must come to pass first before our redemption draweth near.
- We are in verse 16 now of Luke Chapter 21. Your redemption draweth night in verse 28.
- When all of these things we are reading about come to pass, then our redemption is nigh.
- So far, we’ve seen the tribulation turn into great tribulation for Christians. They are being delivered up.
[8] Luke 21:16-19 And ye shall be betrayed both by parents, and brethren, and kinsfolks, and friends; and some of you shall they cause to be put to death. 17 And ye shall be hated of all men for my name’s sake. 18 But there shall not an hair of your head perish. 19 In your patience possess ye your souls.
- This is called persecution. You will be betrayed by parents, brethren, kinsfolks, and friends.
- Those people will cause some of you to be put to death.
- Can you imagine the betrayal when you love the Lord God with all your heart, soul, and mind and your own Dad and Mom would have you put to death?
Your own brethren betray you. You’ve helped them your entire life. You’ve never betrayed them once.
- Your kinsfolk or relatives and friends betray you. Yes, Jesus already went through all of this.
- You aren’t any better than Him. Expect it. Don’t let it surprise you. We’ve already went through this here.
- But we haven’t been put to death. But don’t let it surprise you if it just gets worse and worse.
Will the whole world love you like they loved Billy Graham? As a Christian, will the whole world love you?
- NO. Never. They will hate you. “And ye shall be hated of ALL MEN for my name’s sake.
- Thank God. If all men hate me and want to kill me for the name of Jesus Christ, so be it.
- If I stand in this day and age, and I tell you that men who lust after men are wicked and evil, and you hate me for it, SO BE IT.
I will choose Jesus Christ over a sodomite headed for hell any second, minute, hour, day, week, month, or year.
- A sodomite sure won’t die for me. Jesus Christ already did. A sodomite is filled with hate.
- They can talk and spew lies out of their mouth all they want. They are filled with hate.
- They are filled with wickedness. The Bible tells me this in Romans Chapter 1, NEW TESTAMENT.
- So, I don’t care what you think about that. If you don’t agree, you’ll have the problem.
- You want the whole world to love you. Jesus says, “You will be hated.”
When you stand with Jesus, who was killed by the religious idiots in this world, what makes you think you won’t be killed?
- They will want to kill you. If you are delivered up, just do what God says.
- But you won’t perish. Not a hair on your head will perish. Jesus has this. Be patient.
- Do you believe Him or not? Let’s keep going up to this redemption we want to figure out.
[9] Luke 21:20 And when ye shall see Jerusalem compassed with armies, then know that the desolation thereof is nigh.
- This is the abomination of desolation spoken of by Daniel the prophet.
- This is where the antichrist desolates the temple. He wants you to bow down to graven images.
- Hey, it’s not going to happen. He wants you to take the mark of the beast.
- This will happen before your redemption draweth night.
[10] Luke 21:21-22 Then let them which are in Judaea flee to the mountains; and let them which are in the midst of it depart out; and let not them that are in the countries enter thereinto. 22 For these be the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled.
[11] Luke 21:23-24 But woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck, in those days! for there shall be great distress in the land, and wrath upon this people. 24 And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled.
[12] Luke 21:25-26 And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring; 26 Men’s hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken.
- In this Scripture, we know from the parallel passages of Matthew 24 and Mark 13 that the sun and moon shall be darkened.
- We know the stars shall fall from heaven. We know there will be a great earthquake.
- Men’s hearts will fail them because of fear. They will be scared to death. Not scared OF death.
- Scared TO death. Again, all these things will happen before your redemption draweth nigh.
- We know the tribulation is over when the sun and moon are darkened.
- Men hide and are scared when the heavens open. And what do they see? Well, take a look.
[13] Luke 21:27-28 And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. 28 And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.
- Verse 28 is the verse we started with. But verse 27 tells us what happens right before.
- This is the second coming coming of Jesus Christ. It happens right after the tribulation is over.
- It happens right before God begins to pour out His wrath in Daniel’s 70th week.
We know for sure that our redemption is very near when we see Jesus Christ coming in a cloud.
- Our redemption is going to occur at the second coming of Jesus Christ.
- Does the Bible not say this right there? “Hey, there’s Jesus coming in a cloud.”
- “This is the second coming. Look up. Lift up your heads. Your redemption draweth nigh.”
- Let me see this again before we continue. Our redemption occurs at the second coming.
This gives you the timing of very important end times events such as the rapture and second coming.
- Now, let’s see what your redemption actually means.
- And then we’ll know the exact timing of a very important event in the end times events.
[14] Romans 8:22-23 For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now. 23 And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body.
- Our soul is redeemed and saved already. Our soul will go to heaven. Our body will die and rot.
- But what does the end of verse 23 say? “THE REDEMPTION OF OUR BODY.”
- The resurrection of Jesus Christ is so important because it speaks of a resurrection of our bodies.
- Jesus Christ is in a new and glorified body, and we will receive a body like His one day.
- We will receive a body that cannot sin. We sin today because of this body.
The whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together. This body is rough. This body is sin.
- No good thing dwelleth within this body. Sin dwells here. The wages of sin is death. Our body dies.
- But, there is great news! We wait for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body.
- “Look up for your redemption draweth nigh.”
What is this redemption of our body? This is the rapture or the resurrection of our bodies.
- If you don’t believe in the rapture or the first resurrection, you should see the sermon I recently did titled”
- “The First Begotten of the Dead.” Then tell me you don’t believe in the rapture.
- People will say there is no rapture because the word rapture isn’t in the Bible.
- The word came from a Latin translation. Get over it. It’s a Biblical teaching. It’s a bodily resurrection.
- This is why the Scriptures emphasize the bodily resurrection of Jesus Christ.
- We will be redeemed in this same manner.
And that is what happens at the second coming of Jesus Christ. THE RAPTURE HAPPENS.
- A bodily resurrection of saints, or the sanctified in Jesus Christ, will get new bodies.
- This is your redemption drawing nigh. With every day, this redemption gets closer and closer.
[15] Ephesians 1:13-14 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, 14 Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.
- Once you believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, you are sealed with that Holy Spirit of promise.
- He is a down payment until the redemption of the purchased possession.
- When is the redemption of the purchased possession? What does this mean?
- We know that it means our bodies will be redeemed.
[16] Ephesians 4:30 And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.
- Right now, the day of redemption hasn’t yet come. We’re given the Holy Spirit to indwell us.
- We then have a war between the Spirit and the flesh. It’s our choice to walk in the Spirit or not.
- He doesn’t take over our bodies.
- A man once implied to me, “You weren’t even convicted of the Holy Spirit for lying.”
- This is the same man who isn’t convicted of the Holy Spirit for preaching a works based salvation.
- This is the same man who isn’t convinced that a saved person can’t be possessed by an evil spirit.
- He thinks saved people can be possessed because his wife gets possesses at times.
- He has no idea what I was convicted of, but he then takes off while stealing things from me too.
People who believe FULLY on the Lord Jesus Christ ALONE, not of works AT ALL, are saved.
- They have everlasting life because they are given the indwelling of the Holy Spirit.
- No other spirit may live within me. The Bible clearly says we are sealed unto the day of redemption.
- This means you can’t lose salvation because the Holy Spirit isn’t leaving you.
- We wait for the redemption of our body which occurs at the resurrection of our bodies.
- This is the rapture or resurrection of our bodies. It is not the same body. It is a new body.
[17] 1 Corinthians 15:51-52 Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, 52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
[18] 1 Corinthians 15:53-54 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. 54 So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.
- Dead bodies shall be changed. Those dead bodies are sleeping. The soul is not sleeping.
- The dead bodies are sleeping. The saved soul goes to heaven. The dead soul goes to hell.
- Dead bodies are buried. Our current bodies aren’t saved, obviously.
When you’re saved by believing in the Lord Jesus Christ, you are a new man or a new woman.
- A new boy or a new girl. Your soul is changed. But you are still in the same body. That body is dying.
- Your body doesn’t miraculously change or is now going to live forever. Your body is still dying.
- Your body is the weakness. It is the weak part of you. Your spirit and soul is not weak.
- Your spirit or life will live on forever. Your soul will live on forever. You are born again.
- You are born of the Spirit. You have the Holy Spirit who will never leave you now.
- But your body will die. Your flesh is weak. Your spirit is strong.
Your redemption that the Bible talks about drawing nigh is the redemption of your body or flesh.
- There is a bodily resurrection for you just as Jesus Christ was bodily resurrected from the dead.
- You will get an incorruptible and immortal body. You don’t have that yet.
This is one reason the Southern Baptists or anyone else who believes in a process called sanctification.
- Sanctification, in truth, occurs in a moment when you believe in the Lord Jesus Christ.
- These others believe they are being sanctified over the years as they do good things.
- If you’re saved and have the Holy Spirit, you can’t get holier than that.
- They act as if their body is getting more sanctified. WRONG. Your body is dying. DEAD.
But God will give you a new body in the twinkling of an eye. You aren’t making your body less sinful.
- You aren’t turning your body into a new body. You aren’t God. You can’t do it.
- But the Southern Baptists make people believe they are doing these things.
- They are liars. Your soul is already saved when you have faith in Christ. Your body is not.
[19] 1 Thessalonians 4:13-15 But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. 14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. 15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.
[20] 1 Thessalonians 4:16-18 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: 17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. 18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words.
- The dead in Christ shall rise first. The bodies of dead saints will arise first.
- Then, anyone who is saved and alive at this moment will be caught up in the clouds with them.
- Anyone who has been saved from the beginning to this moment will now receive a new body.
- This is the rapture. When does this happen? Let’s read verse 15 closely and a little slower this time.
[21] 1 Thessalonians 4:15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.
- This happens at the “COMING OF THE LORD,” or, to be more specific, at His second coming.
- The is when you are redeemed. This is the day of redemption for you and I. We receive glorified bodies.
- We don’t get them until the second coming of Jesus Christ when the rapture occurs.
And if you’re one of those people who say the rapture is before the tribulation, you would be wrong.
- The rapture is not at the end of Daniel’s 70th week either.
- The rapture is about in the middle of Daniel’s 70th week at the second coming of Jesus Christ.
- The Bible is clearly telling you in 1 Thessalonians 4 that the rapture is at the second coming of Christ.
- If we continue into 1 Thessalonians Chapter 5, we’re still talking about the rapture.
[22] 1 Thessalonians 5:1-2 But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you. 2 For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.
- The Bible is telling you that the rapture occurs on the Day of the Lord. This is at seal 6 and 7 in Revelation.
- The tribulation is over at the end of seal 5.
- If you don’t believe me, look up the sermon titled “When Is The Tribulation Over?”
After the tribulation, we’ll see Jesus coming in the clouds. Then the rapture will happen.
- This is the redemption of your body. It will happen at that exact moment.
- And in the twinkling of an eye we shall all be changed.
- It’s not our work that changes us. God will change us in a moment.
- God will give us the new body. It’s a free gift for believing in His Son, Jesus Christ.
- We don’t deserve the new and glorified body. We didn’t work to earn it. God gives our new body to us.
After the rapture, we will see that God’s wrath will be poured out upon this earth.
- This occurs in the trumpets and vials. The great day of His wrath is come.
- Today, I simply wanted you to see the verse about your redemption draweth nigh or near.
- This confirms the order of events in Daniel’s 70th week. This redemption is the redemption of your body.
- And this is the first resurrection. Jesus is the firstfruits. He is the first to have a new and glorified body.
[23] 1 Corinthians 15:20-22 But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept. 21 For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead. 22 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.
- Now watch the next Scriptures closely.
[24] 1 Corinthians 15:23-24 But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ’s at his coming. 24 Then cometh the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power.
- The Bible gives us the exact same teaching.
- After Christ has risen from the dead, what is the next resurrection? This would be the rapture.
- The Bible says, “Afterward they that are Christ’s at HIS COMING.
- This would be the second coming of Jesus Christ. The rapture happens the same day.
- This is the redemption of your body. Look
[25] Luke 21:27-28 And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. 28 And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.
- Now, will you still tell me that the rapture doesn’t happen at the second coming of Jesus Christ?
- After all this proof, will you still tell me that there is a pre-tribulation rapture?
- Surely you won’t. Listen to the Bible. Stop listening to everything else.
Let’s pray.
