Bible Verses About Burnt Offerings

[2] The title of the sermon today is “IS JESUS A BURNT OFFERING?”

Jesus Christ Is The Sacrifice For Sins

• Jesus Christ, the Son of God, is “THE” sacrifice for sins. He is the offering for our sins.
• Jesus Christ, the Son of God, took our penalty for our sins on to Himself and paid the price for us.
• If we do not believe on Jesus Christ at any point in our life, we are not saved from our sins.
• We do not have a valid sacrifice for our sins that God will accept to forgive us without Jesus.
• If Jesus never became that sacrifice for our sins, we would all be going to hell.

[3] 1 Peter 1:18-20 Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; 19 But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot: 20 Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you,

• There is no offering that we can provide for our sins because everything we have to offer is corruptible.
• Verse 18 of 1 Peter Chapter 1 right there says, “As ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things.”
• We cannot offer anything that we have personally to forgive us of our sins. We have nothing to offer.
• But God gave us an offering that activates once we believe on the Lord Jesus Christ.
• Verse 19 of 1 Peter Chapter 1 says, “But with the precious blood of Christ, as a lamb without blemish and without spot.”
• Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God, is the perfect sacrifice for our sins.

[4] 1 Peter 2:21-23 For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps: 22 Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth: 23 Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously:

[5] 1 Peter 2:24-25 Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed. 25 For ye were as sheep going astray; but are now returned unto the Shepherd and Bishop of your souls.

• Jesus Christ died on the cross, His blood spilled out for us, His body was buried, His soul went to hell as a burnt offering, and He was resurrected from the dead.
• His body was dead in the grave and His soul was dead in hell. His Spirit returned to the Father.
• Jesus Christ was fully dead. This means His soul went to hell.
• The resurrection of Jesus Christ is a bodily resurrection from the tomb, but that’s not all.
• His soul was resurrected from hell. Jesus Christ became a burnt offering for our sins.

If Jesus Christ paid the penalty for our sins, what would our penalty be IF we weren’t saved from our sins?

• What’s the penalty for sin? The wages of sin is death. What does this mean exactly?
• Our body will die. Our body will be buried in a grave. What about an unsaved soul?
• What happens to that soul? That soul will go to hell and burn in hell.
• Hell is not a good place. There is no other place, besides heaven and hell, for a soul to go.
• Hell is a place of torment, fire, pain. There’s burning souls in hell.

If you look up the 54 occurrences of hell within the King James Bible, what will you find?

• Fire, God’s anger, destruction, wickedness, pain, a deep pit, it’s down, slain, death, terror, crying.
• Hell fire, destroy, damnation, a fire that NEVER shall be quenched, torments, chains of darkness.
• Death, dead, and lake of fire. You will find all of those words in the 54 Scriptures telling us about hell.
• Guess what’s not there when hell is described? Paradise and good times are not mentioned at all.
• There’s nothing good about hell mentioned within the entire Bible. NOT ONCE.
• Hell is always a place of fire, burning, and smoke.

Now, listen, I understand that many people will call me a false preacher for saying these things.

• I understand that people will say that Jesus Christ didn’t burn in hell.
• They’ll say that the blood of Jesus was all that was required and He didn’t go to hell.
• I believe the blood of Jesus Christ is enough to save us. But the Bible says His soul went to hell.
• I believe what the Bible says. Let’s look at a few Scriptures before we get into burnt offerings.
• Then, you can decide who the false preacher is going to be.
• Did Jesus Christ go to hell or not? If He went to hell, did His soul not burn in hell?
• Was Jesus Christ a burnt offering for our sins or not? You can make your own decision.
• Let’s use the Scriptures.

[6] Acts 2:25-27 For David speaketh concerning him, I foresaw the Lord always before my face, for he is on my right hand, that I should not be moved: 26 Therefore did my heart rejoice, and my tongue was glad; moreover also my flesh shall rest in hope: 27 Because thou wilt not leave my soul in hell, neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.

• This Scripture is speaking of David in Psalm Chapter 16 prophesying about Jesus Christ.
• “For David speaketh concerning HIM.” Who? The Lord Jesus Christ. David knew Jesus Christ.
• David is not the HOLY ONE. Jesus Christ is the HOLY ONE. His soul was not left in hell.

[7] Acts 2:28-30 Thou hast made known to me the ways of life; thou shalt make me full of joy with thy countenance. 29 Men and brethren, let me freely speak unto you of the patriarch David, that he is both dead and buried, and his sepulchre is with us unto this day. 30 Therefore being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him, that of the fruit of his loins, according to the flesh, he would raise up Christ to sit on his throne;

[8] Acts 2:31-32 He seeing this before spake of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not left in hell, neither his flesh did see corruption. 32 This Jesus hath God raised up, whereof we all are witnesses.

• Obviously, Psalm Chapter 16 is talking about the RESURRECTION OF JESUS CHRIST.
• According to the Scriptures, what is the resurrection of Jesus Christ? Read that closely right there.
• I want to give you a few seconds here to read it for yourself and tell me the definition of the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
• Let’s read it together again: “He seeing this.” Who? King David.
• King David spoke of the resurrection of Jesus Christ. And what is the resurrection of Jesus Christ?
• “That His soul was not left in hell, neither did His flesh see corruption.”

The Resurrection Of Jesus Christ Includes His Body And His Soul

The resurrection of Jesus Christ, clearly and obviously, is a resurrection of His body and His soul.

• When someone dies, their body is buried.
• When someone has sin counted to their soul, their soul goes to hell.
• Jesus took all of the sins of the whole world onto Himself.

[9] 1 John 2:2 And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.

• Jesus Christ took all the sins of the whole world onto Himself and His soul went to hell for us.
• When Jesus died, His body was buried. Where did His soul go? His soul didn’t go to paradise in hell.
• There is no paradise in hell. There’s not one Scripture that talks about paradise in hell.
• Hell is ALWAYS a bad place. Hell is always torment, gnashing of teeth, and weeping. HELL FIRE. Always.
• The soul of Jesus Christ was not left in hell. This means that His soul was in hell. Very clearly.
• If you can’t see that the soul of Jesus Christ went to hell, then you don’t believe the Scriptures.

[10] Psalm 16:10 For thou wilt not leave my soul in hell; neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.

• Who could that be talking about? No one but Jesus Christ has went to hell and came out of there.
• No one. There have been people who have died on crosses and crucified just like Jesus Christ.
• There was a murderer and a thief crucified right next to Jesus.
• There have been people who have died horrible deaths. People have been skinned alive.
• People have been tortured and had their eyes ripped out of their eye sockets.
• Very bad things have been done to people.

But no one has died, suffered as much in hell as Jesus Christ, and come out of hell as Jesus Christ did.

• No one has taken all sins of all time, went to the lowest hell with all sin, and came out alive.
• 3 days and 3 nights of the eternal God suffering in hell is an infinite sacrifice for all sins.
• He is infinite. He suffered infinitely more than anyone can ever imagine.
• He is perfect, sinless, and took all of the worst sins of all time onto Himself. He went to hell.

By the way, before we continue, the demons didn’t torture Jesus Christ in hell.

• Satan didn’t torture Jesus Christ in hell. Satan isn’t running hell. The demons don’t run hell.
• They aren’t torturing anyone. They are being tormented themselves. They aren’t in charge in hell.
• Satan wasn’t even in hell when Jesus Christ died on the cross. Satan isn’t in hell right now.
• If he were, the whole world wouldn’t be doing so much evil as it is right now.
• God Almighty is in charge of hell. God Almighty is running hell.
• This isn’t Joyce Meyer time and Kenneth Copeland time when they make up stories about demons.

The sacrifice Jesus Christ made pleased His Father.

• Jesus died on the cross, His body was buried, and His soul went to hell.
• His soul was a burnt offering for OUR SINS. Is there not fire in hell? Hell is always a place of flames.
• So, if the soul of Jesus Christ went to hell, what do you think happened to His soul?
• Why do you think the Bible speaks of His pain and suffering for us?
• It’s not just talking about the pain He went through in His death on the cross.
• It’s talking about the pain and suffering in hell as well. Hell is not paradise. Heaven is paradise.

[11] Isaiah 53:10-11 Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in his hand. 11 He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities.

• The soul of Jesus Christ is an offering for sin. When His soul went to hell and burned, His soul was an offering for sin.
• His soul was a burnt offering for sin IN HELL. Hell is filled with fire. His soul is a burnt offering.
• Verse 11 says, “He shall see the travail of His soul, and shall be satisfied.”

[12] Isaiah 53:12 Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he hath poured out his soul unto death: and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.

• His soul was poured out unto death. A dead soul goes to hell. His soul was in travail.
• If the soul of Jesus Christ went to paradise in hell, like false preachers teach, then how was His soul in travail?
• Why would the Bible say that the soul of Jesus Christ was not left in hell if His soul didn’t suffer in hell?
• Again, HELL IS NEVER a good place within the Bible. It’s not mentioned as paradise once.
• We know that Psalm Chapter 16 is talking about Jesus Christ. We know Acts Chapter 2 is talking about Jesus.
• We know 100% for sure that Isaiah Chapter 53 is talking about Jesus Christ.

If you remember Acts Chapter 8 with the Ethiopian eunuch, we see Philip preaching from Isaiah Chapter 53.

• We see the Ethiopian eunuch ask Philip who the Scriptures are speaking of.
• Who is the prophet talking about? Is Isaiah talking about himself or someone else.
• Let’s read this so you see this.

[13] Acts 8:30-32 And Philip ran thither to him, and heard him read the prophet Esaias, and said, Understandest thou what thou readest? 31 And he said, How can I, except some man should guide me? And he desired Philip that he would come up and sit with him. 32 The place of the scripture which he read was this, He was led as a sheep to the slaughter; and like a lamb dumb before his shearer, so opened he not his mouth:

• Let’s see Isaiah Chapter 53.

[14] Isaiah 53:7 He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth.

• Jesus is the perfect and spotless LAMB OF GOD. Remember that.
• Now let’s keep going in Acts Chapter 8.

[15] Acts 8:33-34 In his humiliation his judgment was taken away: and who shall declare his generation? for his life is taken from the earth. 34 And the eunuch answered Philip, and said, I pray thee, of whom speaketh the prophet this? of himself, or of some other man?

• Was Isaiah talking about himself or some other man?
• Philip tells us who Isaiah was talking about in the next verse.
• Who do you think this is talking about? Isaiah or Jesus Christ?
• There is no one else who is the Savior of the world but Jesus Christ. NO ONE ELSE.

[16] Acts 8:35-37 Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus. 36 And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized? 37 And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.

• When the Bible says that “HIS SOUL WAS NOT LEFT IN HELL,” this is speaking of Jesus Christ.
• When the Bible requires BURNT OFFERINGS to please God, this is speaking of Jesus Christ.
• If you don’t think so after reading the Scriptures, then you’ve lost it.
• You’ve allowed false religion to be your guide. The entire Bible points to the Son of God, Jesus Christ.
• The Book of Jonah points to Jesus Christ. The prophets are speaking of Jesus Christ the Son of God.

[17] Matthew 12:40 For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale’s belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

• Hell is in the heart of the earth. It’s burning there. There’s fire in hell.
• The soul of Jesus Christ spent 3 days and 3 nights in the heart of the earth or in hell.

[18] Psalm 63:9 But those that seek my soul, to destroy it, shall go into the lower parts of the earth.

• A soul with sin will go to the lower parts of the earth. This is hell.
• Jonah Chapter 2 tells us what happened to Jesus Christ.
• “For as Jonas was 3 days and 3 nights in the whale’s belly; so shall the Son of man be 3 days and 3 nights in the heart of the earth.”
• The book of Jonah is prophesying about the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God, the Savior of the world.

[19] Jonah 2:2 And said, I cried by reason of mine affliction unto the LORD, and he heard me; out of the belly of hell cried I, and thou heardest my voice.

• Jonah didn’t actually go to hell. This is prophecy of Jesus Christ. “Out of the belly of hell cried I.”

[20] Jonah 2:6 I went down to the bottoms of the mountains; the earth with her bars was about me for ever: yet hast thou brought up my life from corruption, O LORD my God.

• Jonah didn’t go to hell. Jonah wasn’t in hell forever.
• Jesus Christ is the infinite and eternal God. 3 days and 3 nights equates to forever for Jesus Christ.
• Jesus Christ was resurrected from hell. He was raised from the dead. His body and His soul.
• With all that said, let’s answer the question for this sermon.
• Is Jesus a burnt offering? Was the Son of God a burnt offering for our sins?

The Sacrifice Of Jesus Christ Is A Sweetsmelling Savour To God

[21] Ephesians 5:1-2 Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children; 2 And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour.

• I want you to take a close look at verse 2.
• “And hath given Himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour.”
• That’s a hint for you. Jesus Christ is a sweetsmelling savour to God.
• Now, if we look up sweetsmelling savour throughout the Bible, what do we find?
• Remember, we’re going to compare Scripture with Scripture to get our answer.

[22] Genesis 8:20-21 And Noah builded an altar unto the LORD; and took of every clean beast, and of every clean fowl, and offered burnt offerings on the altar. 21 And the LORD smelled a sweet savour; and the LORD said in his heart, I will not again curse the ground any more for man’s sake; for the imagination of man’s heart is evil from his youth; neither will I again smite any more every thing living, as I have done.

• That’s the first time that you’ll find sweet savour within the Bible. Genesis Chapter 8.
• What was a sweet smelling savour unto the Lord? BURNT OFFERINGS.
• Burnt offerings please God. This was a picture of the burnt offering of Jesus Christ in hell.

[23] Exodus 29:18 And thou shalt burn the whole ram upon the altar: it is a burnt offering unto the LORD: it is a sweet savour, an offering made by fire unto the LORD.

• Offerings made by FIRE unto the Lord are pictures of the soul of Jesus Christ being offered in hell for our sins.
• His soul is the burnt offering for our sins.
• His body was broken for us, His blood poured out for us, His soul was offered in hell as a burnt offering for our sins.
• And yes, this is the 100% truth that the Bible teaches us hundreds of times in hundreds of Scriptures.

[24] Exodus 29:25 And thou shalt receive them of their hands, and burn them upon the altar for a burnt offering, for a sweet savour before the LORD: it is an offering made by fire unto the LORD.

[25] Exodus 29:41 And the other lamb thou shalt offer at even, and shalt do thereto according to the meat offering of the morning, and according to the drink offering thereof, for a sweet savour, an offering made by fire unto the LORD.

[26] Leviticus 1:9 But his inwards and his legs shall he wash in water: and the priest shall burn all on the altar, to be a burnt sacrifice, an offering made by fire, of a sweet savour unto the LORD.

[27] Leviticus 1:13 But he shall wash the inwards and the legs with water: and the priest shall bring it all, and burn it upon the altar: it is a burnt sacrifice, an offering made by fire, of a sweet savour unto the LORD.

[28] Leviticus 1:17 And he shall cleave it with the wings thereof, but shall not divide it asunder: and the priest shall burn it upon the altar, upon the wood that is upon the fire: it is a burnt sacrifice, an offering made by fire, of a sweet savour unto the LORD.

• Now, look, I’m not going to go over all the Scriptures about burnt offerings within the Bible.
• I just went over 5 of those right there. Do you know how many there are in the Bible?
• There are 271 Scriptures in the Bible that talk about burnt offerings.
• I’ve showed you some that talk about the Lord accepting these burnt offerings because they offered by fire and are a sweet savour unto the Lord.
• Here’s the location of all the Scriptures with the phrases:
• “burnt offering, burnt offerings, burnt sacrifice, burnt sacrifices”

• Leviticus contains 63 verses that speak about burnt offerings and burnt sacrifices.
• Numbers has 53 verses about burnt offerings and burnt sacrifices.
• 2 Chronicles has 24 verses. Exodus has 16. 1 Chronicles has 11. That’s the top 5.
• But you can see that there’s 25 books of the Bible that talk about BURNT offerings.
• There’s only 3 verses in the entire New Testament about burnt offerings. We’ll look at those.
• You’ll soon understand why there aren’t an abundance of burnt offering Scriptures within the Bible.

But look, that’s a lot of Scripture about burnt offerings or offerings made by fire to the Lord.

• Is it not? Why do people ignore the burnt offerings in the Bible?
• They are a sweet smelling savour unto the Lord. I want to focus in on some of these Scriptures.
• We don’t have time to go over all of 271 verses within the Bible.
• But let’s start in Genesis Chapter 22. This is “THE” perfect place to start with these Scriptures.
• Do you know why? Genesis Chapter 22 is the chapter where Abraham is sacrificing His only legitimate son.

[30] Genesis 22:1-2 And it came to pass after these things, that God did tempt Abraham, and said unto him, Abraham: and he said, Behold, here I am. 2 And he said, Take now thy son, thine only son Isaac, whom thou lovest, and get thee into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of.

• In verse 2 right there, God commands Abraham. What does He command Abraham to do?
• “And He said, Take now thy son, thine only son Isaac, whom thou lovest, and get thee into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of.”
• Now, did you hear what the Bible just said? God commanded Abraham to offer his son Isaac as what?
• What do the actual words of the Bible say right there?
• “And offer him there for a BURNT OFFERING upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of.”

Abraham Offering Isaac As A Burnt Offering Is Prophecy Of Jesus Christ

This is prophecy about Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God, being offered by God the Father.

• On this same mountain, Jesus Christ will be crucified.
• Jesus Christ will become a burnt offering. He wasn’t burned on the cross.
• His soul was going to be a burnt offering in hell. God was using physical burnt offerings to show us this.
• But yet, people will say: “Josh, you’re a heretic when you say the soul of Jesus Christ burned in hell.”
• Am I? Am I using the Scriptures or not? “Offer him there for a BURNT OFFERING.”

[31] Genesis 22:3-4 And Abraham rose up early in the morning, and saddled his ass, and took two of his young men with him, and Isaac his son, and clave the wood for the burnt offering, and rose up, and went unto the place of which God had told him. 4 Then on the third day Abraham lifted up his eyes, and saw the place afar off.

• “And clave the wood for the BURNT OFFERING.”

[32] Genesis 22:5-6 And Abraham said unto his young men, Abide ye here with the ass; and I and the lad will go yonder and worship, and come again to you. 6 And Abraham took the wood of the burnt offering, and laid it upon Isaac his son; and he took the fire in his hand, and a knife; and they went both of them together.

• Abraham took the wood of the burnt offering and laid it upon Isaac his son.

[33] John 19:16-18 Then delivered he him therefore unto them to be crucified. And they took Jesus, and led him away. 17 And he bearing his cross went forth into a place called the place of a skull, which is called in the Hebrew Golgotha: 18 Where they crucified him, and two other with him, on either side one, and Jesus in the midst.

• Jesus bore His cross which was made from a tree or wood.
• Isaac is doing the same thing in Genesis Chapter 22.

[34] Genesis 22:7-8 And Isaac spake unto Abraham his father, and said, My father: and he said, Here am I, my son. And he said, Behold the fire and the wood: but where is the lamb for a burnt offering? 8 And Abraham said, My son, God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering: so they went both of them together.

• There’s fire there. Abraham is offering a burnt offering of his one and only son.
• Where is the lamb for a burnt offering? Jesus is THE LAMB OF GOD. He is the passover lamb.
• Notice what Abraham says in verse 8 as he prophesies about Jesus Christ. This is very clear.
• “And Abraham said, My son, God will provide HIMSELF a lamb for a burnt offering.”
• Jesus is God. God will provide HIMSELF a lamb for a burnt offering. Jesus is the Lamb of God.
• “God will provide Himself a lamb for a BURNT OFFERING.” Is the Bible lying about this?
• In other words, God says that He will provide HIMSELF a lamb for a burnt offering.

Who is lying to you out there? Is it me? I am telling you that Jesus Christ is a burnt offering for our sins.

• His soul went to hell where there is fire and burned as the offering for our sins.
• His soul burning in hell was a sweet savour unto the Lord.
• Was it not? God will provide HIMSELF a lamb for a burnt offering.

[35] John 1:29 The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.

[36] John 1:34-36 And I saw, and bare record that this is the Son of God. 35 Again the next day after John stood, and two of his disciples; 36 And looking upon Jesus as he walked, he saith, Behold the Lamb of God!

• Jesus is the LAMB OF GOD. He is the Passover lamb.

[37] 1 Corinthians 5:7 Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us:

• Jesus Christ is our passover lamb. He is our burnt offering. He is our burnt sacrifice that pays for our sin.

[38] John 19:13-14 When Pilate therefore heard that saying, he brought Jesus forth, and sat down in the judgment seat in a place that is called the Pavement, but in the Hebrew, Gabbatha. 14 And it was the preparation of the passover, and about the sixth hour: and he saith unto the Jews, Behold your King!

• Did you know that Jesus Christ died on the cross on the Passover?
• Did you know that’s the entire point of the Passover?
• It’s the day that Jesus Christ was sacrificed for our sin. He died on Passover day.
• The Passover is pointing to Jesus Christ.
• All of these burnt offerings in the Old Testament are pointing to Jesus Christ OUR BURNT OFFERING.
• His soul went to hell and fire is in hell. Hell is place of HELL FIRE.

The Passover Lamb Is A Burnt Offering And Jesus Is The Passover Lamb

Let’s look a little close at the Passover when the Lord God Almighty implemented the Passover.

• Let’s look a little closer at that day and any of these points I’m making today should be enough to convince you that Jesus Christ is a burnt offering for our sins.
• When we die unsaved, our body dies and our soul dies.
• When we have sin counted to our soul, our soul dies. Our soul goes to hell to burn in fire.

[39] Luke 16:23-24 And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. 24 And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.

• This man is in hell. This is a perfect example of what hell is like. Abraham wasn’t in hell.
• Lazarus wasn’t in hell. They were afar off. They couldn’t pass from heaven to hell or hell to heaven.
• The man in hell is tormented in this FLAME. His soul was burning in fire. He was conscious.
• He wanted a just a tiny little bit of water to cool his tongue.

[40] Exodus 12:5-6 Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male of the first year: ye shall take it out from the sheep, or from the goats: 6 And ye shall keep it up until the fourteenth day of the same month: and the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill it in the evening.

• This is the Passover in Exodus Chapter 12. Pay close attention to these words.
• “Your lamb shall be without blemish. A male.” Does this match Jesus Christ perfectly? Yes it does.
• “The whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill it in the evening.”
• Does this match what happened when Jesus Christ died on the cross as the Passover lamb? Yes it does.

[41] Exodus 12:7 And they shall take of the blood, and strike it on the two side posts and on the upper door post of the houses, wherein they shall eat it.

• The blood on the door posts saved them. The blood of Jesus saves them.
• But, is the sacrifice complete? Was the sacrifice of Jesus complete when the blood poured out?
• Was the Passover lamb sacrifice complete once the blood was on the posts of the houses?
• Let’s keep reading because the sacrifice is not complete.

[42] Exodus 12:8-10 And they shall eat the flesh in that night, roast with fire, and unleavened bread; and with bitter herbs they shall eat it. 9 Eat not of it raw, nor sodden at all with water, but roast with fire; his head with his legs, and with the purtenance thereof. 10 And ye shall let nothing of it remain until the morning; and that which remaineth of it until the morning ye shall burn with fire.

• The passover lamb is being roasted with fire.
• Roast with fire in verse 8. Roast with fire in verse 9. Ye shall burn with fire in verse 10.

[43] Exodus 12:11-12 And thus shall ye eat it; with your loins girded, your shoes on your feet, and your staff in your hand; and ye shall eat it in haste: it is the LORD’S passover. 12 For I will pass through the land of Egypt this night, and will smite all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment: I am the LORD.

[44] Exodus 12:13 And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye are: and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt.

• The blood of Jesus Christ saves us. But, was the sacrifice complete once His blood spilled out for us?
• His body was broken for us. Was the sacrifice complete? Did His body not need to be buried?
• Did His soul not need to be burned in hell? Did He not need to be resurrected from the dead?
• When Jesus says, “IT IS FINISHED,” does it really mean that the sacrifice was finished?
• Did they just kill the Passover lamb, take the blood, and that was it?
• No, God wrote the Scriptures and He didn’t end them right there.

And He didn’t end the Scriptures when Jesus died on the cross and His blood spilled out.

• We are to believe in the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
• The Gospel isn’t just the death of Jesus Christ. It wasn’t over. It wasn’t finished.
• Jesus was simply saying that His work on earth was finished. It was now time for Him to die.
• There was much more work left to do. He still has work to do. He will be working for all eternity.
• But that phase of His work was finished.

[45] John 19:30 When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.

• He came to earth, He did the work, and He was finished with that work.
• But He’s not finished with everything of all time.
• When He said, “IT IS FINISHED,” He still had to be resurrected from the dead.
• If He wasn’t resurrected from the dead, this means He wasn’t the Savior of the world.
• So, what does He mean when He says, “IT IS FINISHED?” The Bible tells us what He means.

[46] John 4:34 Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work.

[47] John 5:36 But I have greater witness than that of John: for the works which the Father hath given me to finish, the same works that I do, bear witness of me, that the Father hath sent me.

• He was finished doing all the works up to that point that would bear witness that His Father sent Him.

[48] John 17:4 I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do.

• When He died on the cross, He finished the work that God gave Him to do on this earth at His first coming.
• Many preachers with false doctrine will tell you that “IT IS FINISHED” means that Jesus didn’t go to hell.
• They’ll say that the sacrifice for our sins was finished and that there was nothing else left for Him to do.
• They’ll say that there’s no way the soul of Jesus Christ went to hell for a burnt offering because the sacrifice was finished.
• If that’s so, why was the Passover lamb burnt with fire? Why was Isaac a burnt offering?

Burnt Offerings Are Sin Offerings And Jesus Is “THE” Sin Offering

Why is every offering to God for sins a BURNT OFFERING within the Bible?

• Why are there hundreds of Scriptures teaching us about burnt offerings? What could all this mean?
• The burnt offerings of animals were not pleasing God. They weren’t forgiving sin.
• They were a picture of the sacrifice Jesus would make for us with His soul being burned in hell.
• Many people have died for this country in war. They have given their lives for people. Have they not?
• Have any of those people taken the sins of the whole world onto their soul and went down to hell?
• Have any of those people taken all sins of all time, gone to hell, and came back victorious?
• No, they haven’t.
• The people who don’t believe Jesus went to hell are minimizing the sacrifice Jesus made.

[49] Micah 6:6-8 Wherewith shall I come before the LORD, and bow myself before the high God? shall I come before him with burnt offerings, with calves of a year old? 7 Will the LORD be pleased with thousands of rams, or with ten thousands of rivers of oil? shall I give my firstborn for my transgression, the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul? 8 He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?

• All of your offerings don’t forgive sin. You can bring burnt offerings of animals all you want.
• They don’t forgive your sin. An animal sacrifice doesn’t forgive any sin.
• So, if all of those burnt offerings don’t forgive sin, what in the world could they mean?
• THEY ARE BURNT OFFERINGS. What could they be pointing to?

[50] Mark 12:33 And to love him with all the heart, and with all the understanding, and with all the soul, and with all the strength, and to love his neighbour as himself, is more than all whole burnt offerings and sacrifices.

• That’s the first time the phrase “burnt offerings” are seen in the New Testament.
• You can bring all the offering you want. You can give God your house, your car, your retirement funds.
• You can give God your bank accounts. You can go to church 7 days per week.
• You can be baptized. You can feed the homeless. You can do free work for your neighbors.
• You can try to work your way to heaven all you want, but it will not work.
• People in the Old Testament could give all the burnt offerings they want, but it wouldn’t save them.

People living today in the New Testament can get baptized in water 3 times per day for the rest of their life.

• They can go to their fake altars and offer themselves a living sacrifice every day of the week.
• They can read their devotionals. They can attempt to do it all on their own.
• They can attempt to not sin each day all on their own, but these works will not save them.
• You can repent of your sin every day and this won’t save you.
• You are not the offering. You cannot offer yourself as a burnt offering to save yourself.
• But you can trust in the Lord and His burnt offering to be saved.
• You can love the Lord with all your heart by actually believing His words.

When you reject the clear teaching in the Bible that Jesus is a burnt offering, you aren’t loving the Lord at all.

• You are rejecting His words and His clear teachings that He is a burnt offering for our sins.
• He went to hell, and He went through hell for you. Why would you reject that?
• You’re spitting in the face of Jesus when you reject His words.
• The last two times the phrase “burnt offerings” is seen in the Bible is in Hebrews Chapter 10.
• Remember, only 3 instances of the phrase “burnt offerings” in the New Testament.

There’s a reason for that. All the burnt offerings in the Old Testament were shadows of good things to come.

• Jesus comes in the flesh in the New Testament to become a burnt offering for all of our sins.
• He came to offer Himself a burnt offering because all the other burnt offerings didn’t forgive sin.

[51] Hebrews 10:1-2 For the law having a shadow of good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year continually make the comers thereunto perfect. 2 For then would they not have ceased to be offered? because that the worshippers once purged should have had no more conscience of sins.

[52] Hebrews 10:3-4 But in those sacrifices there is a remembrance again made of sins every year. 4 For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins.

• When you get baptized in water, it’s not possible for that baptism in water to forgive your sins.
• There’s no blood of the eternal God being applied as a sacrifice for your sins when you’re baptized.
• Faith in the sacrifice Jesus made is what applies His sacrifice for your sins.
• Once you have faith in Jesus Christ, THEN you should be baptized in water.
• What does this baptism show? It’s a picture of the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
• It’s not about you dying, being buried, and you arising out of the water. It’s all about Jesus and His work.

Your water baptism is to show that you understand that it’s all about Jesus and His offering for your sins.

• It is not possible that the blood of bulls and goats should take away sins.
• It is not possible for a burnt offering of a lamb to forgive sins.
• But it is possible for the burnt offering of the LAMB OF GOD, Jesus Christ, to take away your sins.
• The burnt offerings of bulls and goats were for a remembrance of sins.
• Those offerings were to show that they understood God would send HIS LAMB as an offering for sins.

[53] Hebrews 10:5-6 Wherefore when he cometh into the world, he saith, Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not, but a body hast thou prepared me: 6 In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin thou hast had no pleasure.

• God had no pleasure in those burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin. They didn’t forgive sin.
• Trust in God is what forgives sin. Faith in His sacrifice to forgive your sins is what actually forgives sin.
• The burnt offering of Jesus Christ forgives sin.
• Belief in His death, burial, and resurrection is required to forgive sin.
• If God didn’t have please in those burnt offerings of animals, what would please Him? Next verse.

[54] Hebrews 10:7-9 Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me,) to do thy will, O God. 8 Above when he said, Sacrifice and offering and burnt offerings and offering for sin thou wouldest not, neither hadst pleasure therein; which are offered by the law; 9 Then said he, Lo, I come to do thy will, O God. He taketh away the first, that he may establish the second.

• God the Father, in the beginning, knew that the burnt offerings of animals wouldn’t please Him.
• So Jesus Christ, the Son of God, steps up and says: “Lo, I come to do thy will, O God.”
• God takes away the Old Covenant of burnt offerings so He can establish the New Covenant of the burnt offering of the soul of His Son, Jesus Christ.
• We don’t offer animal sacrifices. Jesus Christ was already offered ONCE for our sins.

[55] Hebrews 10:10-12 By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. 11 And every priest standeth daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins: 12 But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God;

• The offering of Jesus Christ HIMSELF forgives our sins. “He offered one sacrifice for sins FOREVER.”
• There is no other way to be saved but to believe on Jesus Christ.
• When you do that, His sacrifice is applied to your sins. He makes the offering for your sins ONCE forever.
• No other sacrifices are required but the sacrifice of Jesus Christ.
• After Jesus made that one sacrifice for sins forever, He sat down on the right hand of God His Father.

[56] Hebrews 10:13-14 From henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool. 14 For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.

• Again, the Bible clearly explains that Jesus became the burnt offering for our sins.
• His body wasn’t burned. His body didn’t see corruption. What would have been burned?
• His soul went to hell. His soul burned in hell. How does that work exactly?
• I have no clue what it’s like for a soul to burn in hell. But I do know it’s torment.
• Jesus was in torments for us. He died for us. His body was buried. His soul went to hell.

The Soul Of Jesus Christ Went To Hell As A Burnt Offering

The Bible clearly says that the resurrection of Jesus Christ includes His soul being raised out of hell.

• The Bible clearly says so. The Bible clearly points to His soul being a burnt offering in hell.
• I didn’t make up all of those Scriptures. I didn’t write that Isaac was to be a burnt offering.
• I didn’t write that the Passover lamb would be roasted with fire. GOD DID.
• And, supposedly, good preachers who trust in the word of God won’t believe any of these things.
• So, you’re going to ignore all of these Scriptures that point to the burnt offering of Jesus Christ?

[57] Ephesians 5:1-2 Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children; 2 And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour.

• Every sweetsmelling savour to God is a burnt offering or a burnt sacrifice.
• Why would God say that the offering of Jesus Christ is a sweetsmelling savour.
• Is it just a coincidence that sweetsmelling savour always refers to burnt offerings? Is it?
• Come on, people. WAKE UP. Stop believing false doctrine. Stop believing lies being taught in churches.
• If you’ll believe those lies over the word of God, you’ll believe anything.
• Take a stand for something. If you won’t take a stand for God’s words, you won’t stand for anything.

“But I was taught that in Bible college. But I was taught that in Seminary.” Who cares what you were taught?

• Because you were taught these things of man, you won’t listen to God and His words?
• You won’t allow God’s words to teach you the right things? You’re that stubborn and stiffnecked?
• You won’t allow one Scripture to change your mind?

[58] Acts 2:31 He seeing this before spake of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not left in hell, neither his flesh did see corruption.

• You won’t allow that Scripture to change your mind. How about hundreds?
• If one won’t change your mind, what about all the others?
• The entire Bible is teaching you that Jesus Christ is the Passover lamb.
• He is the Lamb of God. The Passover lamb was roasted with fire. The burnt offerings were burnt with fire.
• Isaac, a picture of Jesus Christ, was going to be a burnt offering.

This is how every offering for sin was made in the Bible. Every one of them was burned with fire.

• The soul of Jesus Christ CLEARLY went to hell and was burned with fire.
• Yes, He did that for you. Many people have given their life for others.
• But no one has suffered in torment like Jesus Christ did for you when His soul was burned with fire in hell.

Yes, Jesus Christ has done more for you than anyone could ever think about doing for you.

• The Bible colleges have lied to you. The pastors have lied to you. The great theologians have lied to you.
• And your allegiance and loyalty is to them and their false doctrine? Really???
• They haven’t done anything for you except hurt you in every way.

Jesus gave you life. He’s only done good to you. You rejected Him. You sinned against Him. You killed Him.

• You slapped Him. You beat Him. You spit in His face. And yet, He died for you.
• And yet, He burned in hell for you. And yet, He arose from the dead for you and gave you more time.
• He’s giving you more time right now. He has mercy on you. You’re still breathing.
• He gives you food and water. He gives you a nice place to live. He gave us this amazing earth as a home.
• Will you continue to reject His words and spit in His face? The man burned in hell for you!!!

Why won’t you just believe what He says? “Whosoever believeth on me hath everlasting life.”

• People in religions and churches won’t even believe Him when He says that.
• Jesus burned in hell for you. Understand that.
• I’m not going to argue about Jesus burning in hell any more. I know that He did.
• He knows what happened, and He tells you. But you say, “No, that didn’t happen.”
• You’re calling Jesus Christ, your Lord and Savior, a liar. That’s not what you want to do.
• How do I know 100% for sure that the soul of Jesus is a burnt offering?
• Because the entire Bible is teaching this from front to back. It’s very clear.
