[1] The title of the sermon: “JUDGEMENT DAY.”
- Today, I want to focus in the day of judgement or judgement day within the Scriptures.
- Many people believe there will be a judgement day in which they will be judged good or bad.
- If good, they think they go to heaven. If bad, they think they go to hell.
- Or, other preachers have some other view of judgement day. Let’s find the truth.
If you wanted to study judgement day within the Bible, what would you do to start?
- You would look up the phrase “judgement day.” What will you find? Nothing.
- I spell judgement as J-U-D-G-E-M-E-N-T. The King James Bible uses J-U-D-G-M-E-N-T.
- The E is dropped from judgement within the Bible. So we look up judgment day without the “e.”
- What do we find? Nothing. “Judgment day” gives us zero Scriptures.
Now what do we do? We look up any verses that have judgment and day in the same verse.
- Now we’re going to find something about a day of judgement. We find 13 matching verses.
- 12 of 13 verses are in the New Testament. Here’s a chart showing the results.
[2]
- We see the Book of Matthew has the most verses with 5. And then we see 2 Peter with 2 verses.
- All of the other books shown there have 1 verse each. Zephaniah is the only Old Testament book.
[3] Zephaniah 2:1-3 Gather yourselves together, yea, gather together, O nation not desired; 2 Before the decree bring forth, before the day pass as the chaff, before the fierce anger of the LORD come upon you, before the day of the LORD’S anger come upon you. 3 Seek ye the LORD, all ye meek of the earth, which have wrought his judgment; seek righteousness, seek meekness: it may be ye shall be hid in the day of the LORD’S anger.
- We know, from reading the Bible cover to cover many times, that God’s judgement can happen any day.
- What do I mean by that? God can judge you for something you’ve done any day and any time.
- He chastens or punishes those He loves by passing down a judgement or punishment to them.
- One of the definitions of judgement is the power of imposing a sentence on you.
- It is the doom pronounced by a judge. Here is my judgement and this is your sentence or punishment.
This Scripture teaches what I just said. God will pass His anger upon you when you do wrong.
- God is judging people constantly and may pass His judgement down at any moment upon you.
- We see this all throughout the Bible. We see David receive several punishments because of what he did.
- We see God judging Saul and passing down punishments to him often. Why? God loved Saul.
- He punished and corrected Saul after judging Saul for what he did. There are hundreds of examples.
- We know that any day can be a day of judgment for anyone because we all do wrong. We all sin.
Judgment is a constant thing in this life. But, according to Scriptures, there is also a DAY OF JUDGMENT.
- It is not specifically called judgement day in the Bible, but it is referred to as a day of judgement.
- Let’s read some more of the 13 Scriptures that we found with the words 1) day and 2) judgment.
[4] Matthew 10:14-15 And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when ye depart out of that house or city, shake off the dust of your feet. 15 Verily I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgment, than for that city.
- Jesus sends His 12 disciples forth to the children of Israel to preach and teach.
- He didn’t send them to the Gentiles. He sent them to Israel first.
- He says to the disciples, “It shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgment, than for that city.”
- If these people do not receive you, He says that they will get a worse punishment than Sodom and Gomorrha.
- “IN THE DAY OF JUDGEMENT.” So we see a day of judgement here.
[5] Matthew 11:22-24 But I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the day of judgment, than for you. 23 And thou, Capernaum, which art exalted unto heaven, shalt be brought down to hell: for if the mighty works, which have been done in thee, had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day. 24 But I say unto you, That it shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom in the day of judgment, than for thee.
- These people saw the mighty works of Jesus and they would not repent.
- He says, “It shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the day of judgment.”
- He says again, “That is shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom in the day of judgment.”
- So we see Jesus mention the day of judgement in 2 Scriptures here, verse 22 and verse 24.
[6] Matthew 12:36 But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.
- We see “in the day of judgment” here in this Scripture. The words that you speak really matter.
[7] Matthew 27:19 When he was set down on the judgment seat, his wife sent unto him, saying, Have thou nothing to do with that just man: for I have suffered many things this day in a dream because of him.
- Here’s a Scripture with judgment and day in the same verse. But this isn’t speaking of judgement day.
- I want you to see that we are looking at every Scripture that speaks of a judgment on a day.
- Judgement and day is what we are searching for in the Scriptures.
Notice that this Scripture is talking about Pilate. He was set down on the judgment seat.
- He is going to judge Jesus Christ. Men and women judge things every single day.
- They make decisions and judgements before they make decisions, choices, and actions.
- This is a fact. We were designed by God to make judgements constantly throughout each day.
[8] Mark 6:11 And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear you, when ye depart thence, shake off the dust under your feet for a testimony against them. Verily I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgment, than for that city.
- This is a repeated verse in the Gospel of Mark. We’ve already seen this in Matthew.
- We see the day of judgement again. Let’s keep going.
[9] Acts 25:6 And when he had tarried among them more than ten days, he went down unto Caesarea; and the next day sitting on the judgment seat commanded Paul to be brought.
- This speaks of Festus sitting on the judgement seat the next day. Again, we see men judging men.
- Notice there is an entire book in the Bible names Judges. God chose those judges.
- God even says in the Bible that His saved people will be judges over the angels.
[10] 1 Corinthians 6:2-4 Do ye not know that the saints shall judge the world? and if the world shall be judged by you, are ye unworthy to judge the smallest matters? 3 Know ye not that we shall judge angels? how much more things that pertain to this life? 4 If then ye have judgments of things pertaining to this life, set them to judge who are least esteemed in the church.
- Christians who act as if they read the Bible never actually touch it. They’ll get to it one day. Maybe.
- The saints shall judge the world. The world shall be judged by you. Know ye not that we shall judge angels.
- “How much more things that pertain to this life?” How could a Christian fall for the lies in this world?
The world and the worldly churches teach you to judge nothing. But God says to judge right here.
- Judgements are decisions. Will you actually say that you make no judgements in this life?
- We judge constantly. Every day is a day of judgment.
- God’s judgment will come upon you for what you do.
[11] Luke 7:40-43 And Jesus answering said unto him, Simon, I have somewhat to say unto thee. And he saith, Master, say on. 41 There was a certain creditor which had two debtors: the one owed five hundred pence, and the other fifty. 42 And when they had nothing to pay, he frankly forgave them both. Tell me therefore, which of them will love him most? 43 Simon answered and said, I suppose that he, to whom he forgave most. And he said unto him, Thou hast rightly judged.
- Jesus Christ says that Simon that he has rightly judged. It is a good thing to judge matters correctly.
- For example, God says that homosexuality is evil. If you agree with Him, you judged right.
- God says that having a sexual relationship outside of marriage is evil. If you agree, you judge right.
- If you argue that homosexuality and fornication is okay, you would judge unrighteously. You are wrong.
- It’s not okay. We are to judge righteous judgement. We are to make the right decisions.
- And yes, they matter greatly. If not, God’s judgement will come upon us as He is King over all.
[12] John 7:23-24 If a man on the sabbath day receive circumcision, that the law of Moses should not be broken; are ye angry at me, because I have made a man every whit whole on the sabbath day? 24 Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment.
- Now, what Jesus says is much different than most churches are teaching today.
- Who will you listen to? They will tell you not to judge anyone or anything.
- “You can’t judge anyone because you have a mote in your eye.”
- The Bible doesn’t say this, but people draw wrong and incorrect conclusions from a twisting of Scripture.
In today’s world, we hear people say: “I am not allowed to judge someone.” We hear them say, “Don’t judge.”
- They say, “We aren’t supposed to judge anyone because a rapper made a song about it.”
- “We can’t judge anyone because we do bad too.” This is what people think and repeat.
- This is wrong. You can see the Scriptures clearly say the opposite in the Bible.
- Don’t judge unrighteously. Don’t act as if something is okay when God says it is wrong.
[13] Deuteronomy 1:16-17 And I charged your judges at that time, saying, Hear the causes between your brethren, and judge righteously between every man and his brother, and the stranger that is with him. 17 Ye shall not respect persons in judgment; but ye shall hear the small as well as the great; ye shall not be afraid of the face of man; for the judgment is God’s: and the cause that is too hard for you, bring it unto me, and I will hear it.
- This is still valid today. We are to always judge righteously. No respect of persons in judgement.
[14] Proverbs 31:9 Open thy mouth, judge righteously, and plead the cause of the poor and needy.
- The churches will teach you to just be quiet and stay out of everything.
- You can’t question any false preaching from a pastor. You can’t judge their words.
- You can’t judge anything according to them. God says the opposite.
[15] 1 Corinthians 2:15 But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man.
- We are to judge righteously. Everything. God created all men and women to judge and make decisions.
- So, there is judgement every day by God and by men and women. We all judge.
- You can say, “I don’t judge anyone.” And you would be a liar. You do it all the time.
And I would be judging righteously when I call you a liar for saying you don’t judge anyone.
- If you say that a man who comes into church with dirt all over his clothes is evil, you would be judging unrighteously.
- This is wrong. God says so.
- If you judge that you are better than someone else, you would be wrong because you are not good either.
- Anyone who says that they don’t judge is ignorant of reality and of the Bible.
- A church that posts “No judgement zone” is absolutely ignorant of the Bible. This is the truth.
Will you continue to say that you don’t judge, choose, or make decisions about things and people?
- Don’t continue to be a liar. We were designed to judge all things.
- And we need to judge things according to the words of the Bible, which are good, perfect, and holy.
- But again, there will be a big day of judgement called judgement day. This is a Biblical concept.
[16] Romans 2:5-6 But after thy hardness and impenitent heart treasurest up unto thyself wrath against the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God; 6 Who will render to every man according to his deeds:
- Judgement day is all about the wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God.
- God never judges incorrectly. We get what we deserve. When we sin, we will be judged.
- For the wages of sin is death. We all die because we have sinned. This is righteous judgement.
- Our flesh has a death sentence. But your soul has a chance to be saved from God’s final judgement day.
- God will render to every man according to his deeds.
There will be 2 categories of people only: 1) Those who believe in Jesus Christ and 2) those who don’t.
- Anguish upon the soul of every man that does evil. Peace to every man who does good.
- “THE” judgement day is coming. But who and what is going to be judged on this great day?
- We’re going to answer everything I can think of about judgement day in this sermon.
Jesus came into this world to save people. He didn’t come the first time for judgement and wrath.
- He came to save people. Because He came into this world, this world will be judged.
- We all have the opportunity to believe in Jesus Christ.
- If we won’t believe in Jesus Christ, we will be there on this great judgement day. We will be judged.
- If you don’t believe me, let’s continue with these Scriptures with day and judgment in them.
[17] 2 Peter 2:7-9 And delivered just Lot, vexed with the filthy conversation of the wicked: 8 (For that righteous man dwelling among them, in seeing and hearing, vexed his righteous soul from day to day with their unlawful deeds;) 9 The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished:
- God delivers the just out of temptations and reserves the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished.
- The just are those who have believed in Jesus Christ. The unjust are those who won’t believe in Him.
- God reserves the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished.
- The just are all those who believe on Jesus Christ and they won’t be judged to be sent to hell.
- God saved Lot, the one man and his family, out of this wicked place called Sodom.
- God knows how to save His people from His wrath and His judgment. He saves us from that.
- That’s what it means to be saved. You are saved from the day of judgment. You are saved from His wrath.
[18] 2 Peter 3:5-7 For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water: 6 Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished: 7 But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.
- The world was overflowed with water. Fire is coming next. This will be the day of judgment.
- Who receives this judgment? The Bible tells you right there.
- “Reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.”
- So, please hear this. Jesus didn’t come to judge and destroy at His first coming. He says so.
[19] John 12:44-47 Jesus cried and said, He that believeth on me, believeth not on me, but on him that sent me. 45 And he that seeth me seeth him that sent me. 46 I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness. 47 And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.
- He came the first time to save the world by dying for our sins, being buried, and rising from the dead.
- At that time, He didn’t come to judge. And you don’t see Him judging the world at that time.
[20] John 12:48 He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.
- Make sure you see this and understand this. There will be a last day of judgement.
- How are people judged in this last day? The dead will be judged. Not the living.
- People who reject Jesus Christ all their life will be judged by the word Jesus Christ speaks.
- If you believe on Jesus Christ, you will not be judged in that last day. Do you understand this?
- This is the truth. I am teaching these things directly from the Bible.
- The judgement, if you are there, will be the lake of fire. You don’t want that.
Jesus Christ already came to save you. He did the job. He got the job done. You can believe in Him.
- Have you ever heard a father say to a son, “Son, I believe in you. I know you can do this.”
- If you believe in Jesus, you’re saying that you know He can save you.
- “Jesus, I believe in you. I know you can save me. I know you can do all things.”
- If you believe He is the Son of God, then you know that He can do all things.
[21] 1 John 4:17-18 Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world. 18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.
- We have boldness in the day of judgement because we know we are already saved.
- We are never going to be sent to hell or the lake of fire because we have Jesus Christ.
- We believe in Him, and we are now in Him. He cannot deny Himself. We are a part of Him.
- We are on His side. Judgement day doesn’t scare us. We do not fear judgement day.
[22] Jude 6-7 And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day. 7 Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.
- That’s the final verse in the entire Bible with judgment and day in the same verse.
- Notice what the result of that final judgment day will be. EVERLASTING FIRE.
- The final and great judgment day will result in everlasting fire. I am not worried about it.
- Why? Because I’ve already received everlasting life through faith in Jesus Christ.
- Now, what am I here to do. Jesus came not to judge but to save.
People might say that I am judgmental. They will accuse Godly Christians of being this way.
- All we do is attempt to follow God’s words. We attempt to judge righteously.
- We are here to help save people and to pull them up out of the fire. We are not here to condemn.
- We will preach what is right and what is wrong and the world will hate us.
- I don’t go around punishing people and sending them to jail or prison. I don’t condemn them.
- I am not the judge over them. I don’t hand out sentences to them. I try to save them. How?
- I tell them the truth. I am only using words to preach the truth to people. I want them to go to heaven.
For people in the LGBTQ community who are deceived and aren’t actual homosexuals or men who lust after men, I want you to get out of there.
- I will tell you how wrong and evil homosexuality actually happens to be. It is not good.
- If a man lusts after another man, he is a reprobate or rejected by God.
- If you hate what you do, though, you have a chance to be saved. I am not against you.
- I am against the actual men who lust after other men. That, I am against 100%.
And I won’t harm you. And I don’t harm you. I am telling you the truth.
- If you are a man that lusts after another man, I reject you. Stay away from me. Still, I am not hurting you.
- You are hurting others. And you are hurting yourself. You abuse yourself over and over again.
- When you go against God’s commandments, you do not have love. This is righteous judgement.
A woman who has an abortion just committed murder. She killed her own child.
- This is righteous judgment. I am right. This is murder. There is no other word for it.
- What would you call it? You killed your own child who was alive. It wasn’t an accident.
- The child did nothing wrong. You killed an innocent child. This is sad. This is wrong.
If you don’t change your mind and believe on Jesus Christ, you will be judged for this one day.
- And trust me, you don’t want to be judged by God for murdering an innocent child.
- You can be forgiven. Murder is not an unforgivable sin. It’s time to be forgiven. How?
- Believe in Jesus Christ. Tell Him you’re sorry for what you’ve done. I have to ask forgiveness often.
- We all mess up. For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.
- We need a Savior, or we will be paying for every sin that we’ve ever committed.
- And listen, we don’t want to have to pay for those sins. Jesus already paid it all for us.
[23] John 3:17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
- Jesus came to save the world. That means you. He’s giving you a chance.
- He’s not here to judge you. You’re already condemned. You condemned yourself already. I did too.
- We’re here to give the Gospel and to save people through Jesus Christ.
- We’re not judging you. We’re giving complete strangers the Gospel. I don’t even know you.
- I am not condemning you. You are condemning yourself. I didn’t make you do what you’ve done.
- We are here to save. How? We are here to convince people to believe on Jesus Christ.
[24] John 3:18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
- You can go from condemned to not condemned in a moment.
- Change your mind and believe in Jesus Christ. Make the right judgement. Listen. Choose Jesus Christ.
- You must make a judgement on Jesus Christ. Is He the Savior of the world or not?
- If you say not, then you’ve made a bad judgement of Jesus Christ. He is good. Judge right.
- Change your foolish mind and go from unbelief to belief in Him. Do it now. If you did, it’s over.
- No final judgement day for you. No hell for you. No lake of fire for you. It’s over.
With that said, is there still going to be other judgements on you as you live your life?
- Yes, there will be judgment constantly. Judgements from God and from man.
- If you do wrong, a fellow Christian should tell you if you don’t already know.
- If they are judging righteously according to the Bible, you need to correct your mistakes.
- If they aren’t, they are judging unrighteously. This happens in churches constantly.
- For example, let’s say there is a Christian man with long hair, and I preach the following verse:
[25] 1 Corinthians 11:14 Doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him?
- Why is this a shame? Because a man with long hair looks like a woman. It is a shame.
- If this Christian man hears this verse, he should want to cut his long hair as soon as he hears this.
- Why? Because he is a Christian who follows the words of Jesus Christ. Maybe he didn’t know.
- So we preach the right things in church, he hears them, and he changes his ways.
- I don’t go up to him, kick him out of church, and tell him he is a shame. He needs chances to hear.
- Same thing for Christians who love their Jesus and God tattoos.
[26] Leviticus 19:28 Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any marks upon you: I am the LORD.
- If you help someone with this who didn’t know, you are making righteous judgment.
- Christians shouldn’t get tattoos once they know what God says.
- If you’ve already done this, hey, it’s okay. Now you know. Forget the things of the past. Move forward.
I won’t look at your tattoos and think you are an evil person without knowing you.
- Many people with tattoos are now saved people. Talk to them. Many will surprise you. Many won’t.
- We forgive and forget about things. Now try to do things the right way according to God’s words.
- Some people judge unrighteously by the appearance of others. They won’t even talk with someone.
- God loves righteous judgment. He hates unrighteous judgment.
If you do wrong after you’re saved, you can expect judgment from God in this life. He won’t send you to hell.
- But He can make your life a living hell. He can take all joy away from you.
- He can take peace away from you. He chastens you, punishes you, and loves you this way.
- He’s trying to keep you away from evil by correcting you. Do evil, and He will be angry.
He will judge you. But you won’t be standing there being judged on the final and last judgment day.
- But, you can know 100% for sure that His judgment continues during your life. This continues in life.
- Heaven or hell, though, has nothing to do with the way you live your life.
- Whether you go to heaven and hell has everything to do with believing in Jesus Christ.
Some Christians want to walk around as if they are God but they don’t act anything like God.
- God doesn’t walk around telling you everything you’ve done wrong as you do it.
- You don’t need to be doing that either. “You did evil. I can’t be around you any more.”
- Why don’t you try doing things with mercy and grace? This is what God does.
- He shows us the truth. He corrects us. He has mercy on us. He has grace for us.
- Try acting and being more like Him.
So, now let’s move the focus more to the last days, end times events, and the judgments we will see.
- If you know the Book of Revelation well, you’ll know the great day of God’s wrath is coming.
- This happens at the sixth seal. Revelation 6:17 says, “For the great day of His wrath is come.”
- The sun and moon are darkened, the tribulation ends, and now His wrath is coming.
- The rapture happens on the same day. It is the great and terrible day of the Lord.
- The saved are taken away and will not see these judgments of God. His wrath will not be upon the saved.
[27] 2 Timothy 4:1 I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom;
- The quick will have a judgment but it won’t be for heaven and hell. The dead will meet God’s wrath.
- The quickened are the saved. Their works will be judged in heaven. If they did good, they receive rewards.
- If they did bad, they lose rewards. They do not lose salvation or everlasting life at ANY POINT.
[28] 1 Corinthians 3:11-15 For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ. 12 Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble; 13 Every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is. 14 If any man’s work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. 15 If any man’s work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.
- God will be judging the works you do but not for heaven or hell. Listen to the very next Scriptures.
- If you’ve done no good works for God your entire life, your works will burn up because they weren’t good.
- “But he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.” You won’t be judged on your sin.
- You are forgiven already. Jesus died for you and forgave you of your sins.
- He will now judge you to reward you for the work you’ve done for Him.
- This is the judgment for the saints. This is not to go to heaven or hell. You’re already saved.
So, the judgments in the last days will be handed out in the trumpets and the vials on the unsaved.
- Then we will reach the end of Daniel’s 70th week. What happens? Battle of Armageddon.
- Satan loses. He and the antichrist are thrown into hell or the lake of fire. Satan is there for 1000 years.
- Jesus Christ rules and reigns on the earth for this time. His saints will rule and reign with Him.
- He will be the judge of the earth at this time. His judgments continue during this time.
- Saints from the rapture will have new bodies that cannot sin. This is why they reign with Him.
- There will be others there who are unsaved, saved, and rejected who will be judged during this time.
Satan is then let loose. He goes out and deceives the nations once again. The battle of Gog and Magog happens.
- It’s quick. God devours all of them. Satan is cast into the lake of fire once final time forever.
- This is God’s judgment on Satan. He gets the lake of fire forever and ever.
- What happens right after that? THE GREAT WHITE THRONE JUDGMENT. This is the last day.
- This is the last judgment. This is the final judgment. This is that great day of judgment.
- It is called the great white throne judgment. Let’s read about it.
[29] Revelation 20:11-13 And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. 12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. 13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.
- Here’s the final judgment in existence. The remaining people will have perfect and sinless bodies now.
- There will be no wrong to judge any more. Everyone left will be doing right. No sinful flesh is left.
What do we see here at the Great White Throne judgment? God sits on the throne.
- The dead are there. We are not the dead because we have everlasting life. We have a new body.
- That body is immortal. The rapture happened well before the thousand year reign of Jesus Christ.
- So, I am not worried about the great white throne judgment at all. We have confidence in Christ.
- We trust His words. We will not be judged on this great and final day of judgment.
How are the dead or unsaved judged? They stand before God and the books are opened.
- In John Chapter 12 verse 48 we learned that the words of Jesus will be used for this judgment.
- The dead will be judged out of those things which were written in the books.
- For example, God says: “Thou shalt not steal.” If they have stolen before, they will be guilty.
- God says: “Thou shalt not lie.” If they have lied before, they will be guilty.
- They are not covered by the blood of Jesus Christ. They are not forgiven of these sins.
The Book of Life is opened. The dead aren’t alive. The dead aren’t in the Book of Life.
- Their names will not be found within the Book of Life. They do not have everlasting life.
- They have not believed in Jesus Christ. They are then judged according to their works.
- Many so-called Christians who believe in their works will be standing there.
- They wanted to be judged by their good works, and now they will be judged by those works.
- And this judgment will end with the lake of fire. And yes, I do believe there will be different levels there.
To be even more clear, the Scriptures say: “And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them.”
- “And they were judged every man according to their works.” Why were they in hell?
- Because they never had faith in Jesus Christ. If they had faith in Christ, they wouldn’t be dead and in hell.
[30] John 11:26 And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?
- So, who is judged for hell at the last and final day of judgment? THE DEAD.
- The people who rejected Jesus Christ their entire life. The people who believed in themselves.
- The people who believed in their works. This is also the time of the last and final resurrection.
- I am not preaching on the resurrections, though.
- I am focusing in on judgment day for this sermon. This is the last and great judgment day.
Some clowns on You Tube will say, “See you on judgment day.”
- They are telling me that I will be judged and thrown into hell for preaching faith alones saves.
- They preach works. I preach faith. The great white throne judgment is about judging by works.
- The people with faith are not judged by their works for heaven or hell. They are already going to heaven.
[31] Revelation 20:14-15 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. 15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.
- There’s the end of the Great White Throne judgment. This is judgment day. This is the last judgment.
- All of the evil and wickedness is now gone. Everyone has a new and incorruptible body.
- There are only saved people left. We are at the end of Revelation Chapter 20.
- Read the last 2 chapters in the Bible. The evil is gone. Sin is gone. No more pain. No more sorrow.
- Because sin is no more, God the Father comes down from heaven. Why?
- The last and judgement, on the final judgement day, is over. The dead are gone. The evil is gone.
So, let’s summarize. Judgment will happen continuously until the last judgment day.
- God will judge. Man will judge. We all judge things constantly. Our job is to judge righteously.
- Doing so means using God’s words because He is right. His ways are right.
- Our ways are not unless they match His ways. When He says something is wrong, it is wrong.
- When He says something is right, it is right. If we don’t agree with Him, we are wrong.
- There are many days of judgement throughout the Bible for a single person and groups of people.
The saved are judged. The unsaved are judged. All people are judged by God.
- The judgment for your destination of heaven and hell, though, is only based on whether or not you have faith in Jesus Christ.
- If you have believed in Him, you are saved, and you will never have another judgement to go to hell.
- God will not look at your works to determine heaven or hell.
- You will have a judgement day in which He looks at your works to give you rewards. Not punishment.
- So the saved are judged by their works for rewards and not for hell. The Bible teaches us this.
The unsaved will be judged by their works to determine their level of “rewards” in hell.
- These won’t be good things. They are already dead. They will be judged by their evil works.
- And this won’t get them anything good.
- The works of the saved and unsaved do not determine whether you go to heaven or hell.
Faith in Jesus Christ determines whether or not you go to heaven or hell. Your works don’t determine this.
- But people want their works to determine this. THIS IS FOOLISH.
- When judged by our works as a whole, we will be seen as NOT GOOD. Why? We have all sinned.
- Our works make us guilty. The works of Jesus Christ can make us not guilty. We believe in His works.
- We put our faith in HIM ALONE, and THEN He saves us. No final judgement day for us.
- After the final judgment day, there will be no evil left in existence. It will be cast into the lake of fire.
- We will remember them no more. That’s why it’s important to be saved today. Put your trust in Jesus.
Let’s pray.
