[2] The title of the sermon: “THIS IS NOT YOUR TYPICAL REVIVAL SERMON.”

  • I want to preach a sermon that teaches REVIVAL correctly.
  • You have all these clown preachers out there teaching revival.
  • Many of them think revival is when you get up out of your chair and run around the church.

They think everyone should get excited and run around yelling and screaming.

  • “REVIVAL!!! REVIVAL!!! REVIVAL!!!” They think revival is a showing of emotions. “This church is dead.”
  • “Everyone is just sitting around listening to the word of God. This ain’t no revival.”
  • “This church need revival. What’s wrong with you people. You don’t just sit there and listen.”
  • “Get up!!! Revive yourself!!! Revival!!!”

The truth is the word revival isn’t in the Bible. It’s not there but some preachers only preach about revival.

  • They heard about it when they were a kid in church, and they just can’t let it go.
  • REVIVAL!!! Every sermon is about revival.
  • The word revive, revived, and reviving is within the Bible. These words are there 16 times in 15 verses.

[3]

  • There are 13 matching verses in the Old Testament and 2 in the New Testament.
  • So, in other words, the Bible doesn’t talk about revival as some New Testament churches constantly talk about this.
  • Their ideas of REVIVAL are not in the Bible.
  • The New Testament only has 2 verses. Let’s look at those and see if they match what preachers teach.
  • This might surprise you.

[4] Romans 7:7-9 What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet. 8 But sin, taking occasion by the commandment, wrought in me all manner of concupiscence. For without the law sin was dead. 9 For I was alive without the law once: but when the commandment came, sin REVIVED, and I died.

  • One of the only 2 verses in the New Testament about reviving is actually talking about death.
  • “Sin revived, and I died.” When sin revives, you die.
  • Here’s the second of two verses in the NEW TESTAMENT that talks about revival.

[5] Romans 14:8-9 For whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we die, we die unto the Lord: whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lord’s. 9 For to this end Christ both died, and rose, and REVIVED, that he might be Lord both of the dead and living.

  • Again, we’re talking about death. Christ both died, and rose, and revived. Thank God.
  • Christ is the Lord of both the dead and the living.
  • That’s it for revival in the New Testament. Let’s look at the first one in the Old Testament.
  • Let’s look to Genesis Chapter 45. First verse in the entire Bible about reviving.
  • If you have an idea of what’s happening in this part of the Bible, this won’t surprise you.

[6] Genesis 45:26-28 And told him, saying, Joseph is yet alive, and he is governor over all the land of Egypt. And Jacob’s heart fainted, for he believed them not. 27 And they told him all the words of Joseph, which he had said unto them: and when he saw the wagons which Joseph had sent to carry him, the spirit of Jacob their father REVIVED: 28 And Israel said, It is enough; Joseph my son is yet alive: I will go and see him before I die.

  • Again, we’re talking about death. Jacob is dying. “I will go and see him before I die.”
  • The spirit of Jacob their father REVIVED when he saw the wagons Joseph had sent to carry him.
  • Now he has some life in him. The spirit within you is the life within you.

For example, I want to show the life within me when I preach. Put some spirit and life into it.

  • Or, I could be really slow and boring and blink really slowly and act like a sloth.
  • I could act as if I am dead and just hunch over. You could sit there and listen and be excited about this.
  • Or, you can act like this is the most boring sermon ever. Or, you can revive like Jacob and be excited.
  • “I will listen to this because this is important. I will focus in with laser like focus on every word of God.”
  • I will revive. I will show the spirit and life within me.

This doesn’t mean you need to get up, run around, yell, and scream throughout the sermon.

  • It’s more important to pay attention, listen, and learn. Have a passion for learning the word of God.
  • If you should revive at any time, it’s during church. There is no better place to be right now.
  • Let’s look at the next verse. Judges Chapter 15. Who would this be about? Do you remember?

[7] Judges 15:18-19 And he was sore athirst, and called on the LORD, and said, Thou hast given this great deliverance into the hand of thy servant: and now shall I die for thirst, and fall into the hand of the uncircumcised? 19 But God clave an hollow place that was in the jaw, and there came water thereout; and when he had drunk, his spirit came again, and he REVIVED: wherefore he called the name thereof En-hakkore, which is in Lehi unto this day.

  • When you’re very thirsty, you lose the life within you. You aren’t animated.
  • When you get some water, your spirit revives and the animation comes back to you.

[8] 1 Kings 17:21-22 And he stretched himself upon the child three times, and cried unto the LORD, and said, O LORD my God, I pray thee, let this child’s soul come into him again. 22 And the LORD heard the voice of Elijah; and the soul of the child came into him again, and he REVIVED.

  • Again, this has to do with death. “And the soul of the child came into him again, and he revived.”

[9] 2 Kings 13:21 And it came to pass, as they were burying a man, that, behold, they spied a band of men; and they cast the man into the sepulchre of Elisha: and when the man was let down, and touched the bones of Elisha, he REVIVED, and stood up on his feet.

  • The man was dead, but now he is alive. I hope you’re beginning to see the actual point of reviving.
  • He was dead, but now he is alive.

[10] Ezra 9:8-9 And now for a little space grace hath been shewed from the LORD our God, to leave us a remnant to escape, and to give us a nail in his holy place, that our God may lighten our eyes, and give us a little REVIVING in our bondage. 9 For we were bondmen; yet our God hath not forsaken us in our bondage, but hath extended mercy unto us in the sight of the kings of Persia, to give us a REVIVING, to set up the house of our God, and to repair the desolations thereof, and to give us a wall in Judah and in Jerusalem.

  • We see reviving twice in these Scriptures in Ezra Chapter 9.
  • Reviving here is getting back to the work of God. “To set up the house of our God.”
  • “To repair the desolations thereof.” They weren’t doing God’s work, and they are going to do it.

[11] Ezra 9:10 And now, O our God, what shall we say after this? for we have forsaken thy commandments,

  • We have forsaken His commandments. If you’ve done that, it’s time to revive and live again.
  • When we forsake God’s commandments, we are like dead. We’re heading towards death.
  • It’s time to stop forsaking His commandments and head towards life. This is revival.

It’s time to wake up, get some life within you, and do what God says.

  • It’s not yelling in church and saying amen to every word.
  • People believe dead churches are those in which people sit and listen to a sermon.
  • Pentecostals believe they are the only true church because they yell, scream, and flop around.
  • Yet, this is not in the Bible anywhere. There are no floppers or babble being spoke in the entire Bible.

[12] Nehemiah 4:2 And he spake before his brethren and the army of Samaria, and said, What do these feeble Jews? will they fortify themselves? will they sacrifice? will they make an end in a day? will they REVIVE the stones out of the heaps of the rubbish which are burned?

  • You have an unbeliever mocking the Jews right here. “Will they REVIVE the stones out of the heaps?”
  • Is anything too hard for the Lord? He can revive stones out of the heaps.
  • In Ezekiel Chapter 37, the Lord raises dry bones to life.

[13] Ezekiel 37:5-6 Thus saith the Lord GOD unto these bones; Behold, I will cause breath to enter into you, and ye shall live: 6 And I will lay sinews upon you, and will bring up flesh upon you, and cover you with skin, and put breath in you, and ye shall live; and ye shall know that I am the LORD.

  • God can revive anyone and anything. There is nothing too hard for Him.
  • If you actually take a look at His creation, you’ll easily see that there is nothing too difficult for Him.
  • For us, though? Yes, things are very difficult. For example, we have trouble even lifting a small stone.
  • They are very heavy. Yet, God placed the mountains. God placed the entire earth.
  • God placed every planet, star, and moon in existence. There’s nothing too hard for Him.
  • The sun is hot, and yet, He put it there. We can’t even look directly at the sun. He put it there.

[14] Psalm 85:5-7 Wilt thou be angry with us for ever? wilt thou draw out thine anger to all generations? 6 Wilt thou not REVIVE us again: that thy people may rejoice in thee? 7 Shew us thy mercy, O LORD, and grant us thy salvation.

  • Now, we’re getting to the point of this entire sermon. Do you know what actual revival is?
  • It’s the entire point of the Bible. It’s the reason Jesus Christ came and died for us.
  • It’s the reason Christ revived for us. It’s the reason Christ arose from the dead for us.
  • “Wilt thou not revive us again: that thy people may rejoice in thee.”
  • “Shew us thy mercy, O LORD, and grant us thy salvation.” Please save us, Lord.
  • How will one arise from the dead and be revived?

[15] Psalm 138:7 Though I walk in the midst of trouble, thou wilt REVIVE me: thou shalt stretch forth thine hand against the wrath of mine enemies, and thy right hand shall save me.

  • When we are at our lowest, it is God that revives us.
  • When we are headed for death, it is God that saves us.

[16] Isaiah 57:14-15 And shall say, Cast ye up, cast ye up, prepare the way, take up the stumblingblock out of the way of my people. 15 For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to REVIVE the spirit of the humble, and to REVIVE the heart of the contrite ones.

  • Contrite means work, broken, or bruised. He’s here to revive the spirit of the humble.
  • Our spirit was going to die. Our heart was going to die. Jesus Christ came to revive our spirit and heart.
  • Who did He come to revive? All of us are broken. All of us have sinned and come short of the glory of God.
  • Jesus came to save the whole world. He wants to revive all of us.

The law is the stumblingblock. They trip and fall over the law of God.

  • All of these people out here today in so-called “Christian” churches can’t understand.
  • They still think they have to be good all the time to be saved.
  • Even though the Bible says there are none good, they still think they are good.
  • The children of Israel couldn’t keep the law. The law can’t save anyone because of the flesh.
  • This is why Jesus Christ came. No work is going to save us. Water baptism does not save you.
  • Repenting of all your sin, which is impossible to do, cannot save you.

“Take up the stumblingblock out of the way of my people.” How? Through Jesus Christ. That’s why He came.

  • We simply believe on Him, that He can save us on His own, that He is the Son of God, and He saves you.
  • This is revival. Revival doesn’t happen at false churches who constantly preach revival.
  • They don’t even understand what it means to be revived by God. THIS IS SALVATION.
  • This is God giving you the gift of eternal life through faith in Jesus Christ. This is revival.

[17] Hosea 6:1-3 Come, and let us return unto the LORD: for he hath torn, and he will heal us; he hath smitten, and he will bind us up. 2 After two days will he REVIVE us: in the third day he will raise us up, and we shall live in his sight. 3 Then shall we know, if we follow on to know the LORD: his going forth is prepared as the morning; and he shall come unto us as the rain, as the latter and former rain unto the earth.

  • When we revive, we live in the sight of God and Jesus Christ. He will raise us up from the dead.
  • He is the one who can do this. Our water baptism doesn’t raise us from the dead.
  • God does through Jesus Christ, the Savior of the world. He is the Savior of the world.

[18] Hosea 14:4-7 I will heal their backsliding, I will love them freely: for mine anger is turned away from him. 5 I will be as the dew unto Israel: he shall grow as the lily, and cast forth his roots as Lebanon. 6 His branches shall spread, and his beauty shall be as the olive tree, and his smell as Lebanon. 7 They that dwell under his shadow shall return; they shall REVIVE as the corn, and grow as the vine: the scent thereof shall be as the wine of Lebanon.

  • God can heal the backsliding of His people. He says, “I will love them freely.”
  • “For mine anger is turned away from him.” He shall grow as the lily. His branches shall spread.
  • THEY SHALL REVIVE AS THE CORN, AND GROW AS THE VINE.
  • Have you ever seen a plant that is wilting and headed for death? And then you give it some water.
  • And it looks perfect a few seconds later. This is what God does to your soul when you believe on His Son.
  • Salvation happens in a moment. He revives you in a moment. He saves you in a moment.

[19] Habakkuk 3:1-2 A prayer of Habakkuk the prophet upon Shigionoth. 2 O LORD, I have heard thy speech, and was afraid: O LORD, REVIVE thy work in the midst of the years, in the midst of the years make known; in wrath remember mercy.

  • That’s the last Scripture in the Old Testament. We’ve been through all of them about revival already.
  • That was quick and easy to study. “O Lord, revive thy work in the midst of the years.”
  • We ask God to revive His work here in this church. What would revival in church actually be?
  • There are many different forms of revival, and you can see this in the Bible.

It’s time to get some life and spirit in the churches. How do we do that? What do you think?

  • Would we get up and do 25 jumping jacks every 15 minutes during the sermon?
  • Or, would we start saying AMEN to everything I say?
  • Maybe I should I set a chair over here and jump up on it every once in a while to show I have the Spirit.
  • Maybe I should hit the pulpit more often. Maybe I should jump on the pulpit.
  • Maybe we need some flashing lights and smoke to show some life in here.

These are all mirages. We need to be happy, cheerful, and spirited in church but there’s a time for everything.

  • Other churches want to put on a show. They just talk about revival. They preach revival.
  • But, what are they actually doing? Yelling AMEN loudly in church all the time. Is this reviving anything?
  • It can help at times. I’m not against a man yelling AMEN in church. The men should speak.

How would we get more life in this church? How would we get more life in other churches?

  • Think about that. The answer is we need to get more people saved and coming to church.
  • More people with everlasting life leads to more life in the churches.
  • You’re going to get some people who want to win souls to Jesus Christ.
  • REVIVAL is all about winning souls to the Lord. He revives their spirit and soul. He saves them.
  • They are a new creation in Jesus Christ. Then, we baptize them.
  • Then, we teach them to observe the commandments of Jesus Christ.

[20] Mark 16:15-16 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. 16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.

  • We preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ to every creature we can find.
  • We baptize them after they have believed. “But he that believeth not shall be damned.”
  • We can baptize all we want, but it doesn’t profit anything if they haven’t believed on Jesus Christ.

So, we teach people to observe the commandments of Jesus Christ.

  • THIS IS A COMMANDMENT RIGHT THERE. Don’t miss it. It’s time to go into the world.
  • It’s not time to separate from the world and not even talk with anyone. It’s time to win souls.
  • It’s time to get people saved by the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

[21] Luke 4:18-19 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, 19 To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.

  • You have GOOD NEWS for people. The true Gospel is the GOOD NEWS.
  • Everlasting life is a gift from God that cannot be taken away.
  • Change your mind and believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. Receive everlasting life right now.
  • What if you had to actually stop sinning in order to be saved such as many false preachers teach?
  • No one would make it to heaven. No one can stop sinning in this flesh 100% of the time. No one.

God sets people FREE. He revives people. They were great sinners, and yet, He saved us.

  • This is revival. Winning souls to Jesus Christ REVIVES all the right things.
  • If you want a revival in church, you better get out there and win souls to Jesus Christ.
  • All of these churches want to preach revival, but they won’t even get out there and preach the Gospel.
  • They wait for people to find them. No, we go out and find the people. We bring them here.
  • This is how revival actually works. The Bible teaches this. We get people saved. Baptize them.
  • Teach them the word of God. Make more disciples of Jesus Christ. ACTUAL REAL DISCIPLES.

[22] Acts 16:10 And after he had seen the vision, immediately we endeavoured to go into Macedonia, assuredly gathering that the Lord had called us for to preach the gospel unto them.

  • I assure you that we are to preach the Gospel in this area and outside of this area.
  • I want to read you something on how we can impact people outside of this area too.

Do you remember the sermon on king Ahaziah 22 or 42 years old when he began to reign?

  • A man named Chacha Dean asked me that question through email.
  • I do my best to prove to people that I care about them no matter who they are or where they are.
  • I didn’t know at the time, but he replied after the sermon that he is a Christian.
  • He says, “I am actually a Christian (I forgot to mention that) from Kenya, and I have been following your sermons lately and printing them and sharing them with other believers.”
  • So, a man in Kenya is listening to these sermons, sharing them, and teaching others.

Preaching about actual revival and winning souls to Jesus Christ is the correct preaching about revival.

  • It’s not about waking people up who are actually sleeping in church.
  • It’s not about emotions and feelings in church. “I could really feel it during that song.”
  • It’s not about getting people to do more individual performances in front of the church.

It’s about getting people to start winning souls to Jesus Christ, baptizing them, and teaching them the right things.

  • And this man in Kenya is doing his best to do so. God bless Him, help Him, and be with Him.
  • He can win hundreds and thousands of souls to Jesus Christ during his lifetime.
  • Our friend, Dave in Canada, gave me the idea to write this sermon.

He is one that wins souls to Jesus Christ, but he can’t get many people out of hundreds in a church to help.

  • Revival is winning souls to Jesus Christ. A revived church will have soul winners within that church.
  • We must be a soul winning church. We must go out and find the people who will be saved today.
  • We must have Paul’s attitude. You might say Paul was the greatest soul winner within the Bible.

I don’t know if that’s true. He would have to go up against John, Peter, Joshua, Job, Isaiah, Daniel.

  • He would have to go up against Sarah, Deborah, Jael, Esther, Ruth, Hannah, Phoebe.
  • He would have to go up against the Samaritan woman at the well and the blind man.
  • But, we can say for sure that Paul was one who saved many souls. MANY SOULS.
  • All of these people gave all the glory to Jesus Christ. We do the same. BE LIKE PAUL. Listen to this.

[23] Romans 1:15 So, as much as in me is, I am ready to preach the gospel to you that are at Rome also.

  • What do you have within you? You have the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. We are to walk in the Spirit.
  • If you have the Spirit of God within you, then you are the same as Paul right here.
  • “SO, AS MUCH AS IN ME IS, I AM READY TO PREACH THE GOSPEL TO YOU.”

You might say, “But I am not ready.” We’ve been memorizing Gospel Scriptures the entire year.

  • I will tell you right now. You are ready. God is within you. YOU ARE READY.
  • I didn’t have anyone to be a silent partner with when I started. I had to do it.
  • I didn’t learn, in person, from anyone. I just did it. All we are doing is talking with people.
  • We all do that all the time. It’s just a conversation. It’s an easy conversation. Just get right to the point.
  • You are ready, and the time is now. You might be nervous, but all of that gets better with experience.

Just quote this verse to yourself over and over again: “So, as much as in me is, I am ready to preach the Gospel.”

  • You are not alone. God is with you, and we are with you. Be like Jesus Christ.
  • Do you remember what He said? Listen to this. Let’s say I asked, “Are you ready to go soul winning?”
  • What do you think Jesus Christ would say?

[24] Isaiah 6:8 Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.

  • Who wants to go soul winning? Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?
  • “THEN SAID I, HERE AM I; SEND ME.”
  • God is asking you today, “Who will go out there and win souls for me?”
  • Will you respond and say, “HERE AM I; SEND ME!” I will go.
  • After all that He’s done for you, what will you do? Will you go? Will you win souls to Jesus Christ?

[25] Matthew 9:37-38 Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few; 38 Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest.

  • Do you know how you get more labourers to help us? You give them the Gospel.
  • You baptize them. And you teach them all things that Jesus wants us teaching.
  • What I am teaching right now is 100%, without a doubt, what Jesus wants us teaching.

When you go to a huge apartment complex with just a couple of people, it will take many days to complete it.

  • We’ve been soul winning with a small church before in Knoxville, Tennessee and the apartment complex was done in about 15 minutes.
  • We were on the second door when everyone else was finished with the place.
  • We didn’t even get to go to a third door. It was that fast.
  • Imagine what we can do if we find more labourers. We can reach many people for Jesus Christ.
  • We must multiply through winning souls to Jesus Christ.

So, I want to add a prayer to the prayer list that is directly from Jesus Christ.

  • He says, “Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that He will send forth labourers into his harvest.”
  • We need His help. When we go out, He must be there with us. Without Him, we have no chance.
  • With Him, though, ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE. We go out to find the unsaved brother who needs help.

We go out to find the unsaved grandmother who hated God until now.

  • We go out to find the unsaved sister, daughter, mother, father, grandfather, and son who needs help.
  • Everything within our soul tells us to go. Don’t allow the flesh to win. Don’t be afraid. FEAR NOT.
  • Will you be a laborer for the harvest of the Lord? Or not?
  • This might be one of the toughest things to start in your entire life. But, really, it’s not that difficult.

Let’s go over a summary of how to do this. If you want to go out with me and see how I do it, just ask me.

  • I am ready to go with you any time. Here’s how I do it, and you don’t have do it as I do.
  • One of the things you’re going to quickly see around here is that opening your Bible to someone will usually lead to them saying I am not interested.
  • So, it’s important to know the Scriptures or at least the basic concepts of the Gospel.

I like to keep eye contact with people. If I look away, I will lose them many times.

  • Opening up the Bible will lead to you losing them many times. But, you can try by being positive.
  • So, we must have the Scriptures written on the tables of our heart.
  • If someone is open to the Bible, though, definitely open the Scriptures and show them.
  • And yes, you might be thinking: “Well, I don’t know them well enough.” YES YOU DO. I know that you do.

I usually knock on the door firmly once but not too hard. Give them about 30 seconds and knock again firmly.

  • Don’t knock on the door like you’re trying to knock the door down. Just have common sense.
  • Many times the person comes to the door after the second knock. Give people time to get to the door.
  • When they open the door, or before they open the door, smile.
  • Act like you want to win them to Christ. If you don’t want to be there, you should go home.
  • You won’t be successful if you don’t want to win people to Jesus Christ.

“Hello Sir or Hello mam. My name is Josh and this is Jacob. We’re from True Words Christian Church in Shelbyville, Kentucky.”

  • “We wanted to give you an invitation to church. Could I ask your name?” This gets them talking.
  • And we just hand them a simple paper that we’ve printed from the computer.
  • Anyone with a computer and printer can do this. We have the examples here. You can make them too.
  • You can make them your own. You can put the Scriptures you want to go through on the back.
  • Most of the time people will take the invitation. Sometimes they won’t.
  • Sometimes they will slam the door on you or tell you to leave them alone and never come back.

Listen, this will happen. Don’t be afraid, and don’t let it bother you. I was one of those people in the past.

  • But God revived me from the dead. And now I am here. And now you are here.
  • Don’t be afraid. Some of the interactions I’ve had are very funny to me.
  • When the guy opened the door, looked at us, and just yelled NO while slamming the door is funny.
  • He is the best rejecter I have ever seen and he lives right over there. So don’t be surprised.
  • Here’s the truth: You will be rejected much more than accepted. It’s good for you to experience this.
  • God never said this would be easy.

[26] Acts 21:12-14 And when we heard these things, both we, and they of that place, besought him not to go up to Jerusalem. 13 Then Paul answered, What mean ye to weep and to break mine heart? for I am ready not to be bound only, but also to die at Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus. 14 And when he would not be persuaded, we ceased, saying, The will of the Lord be done.

  • No matter what, we must say: “The will of the Lord be done.”
  • Knock, wait, introduce yourself, give them the invitation to church. You don’t have to be perfect.
  • Hey, let all the perfect thoughts go. You can’t be perfect. You won’t be perfect.
  • I mess up with this all the time. Many times I forget to say my name. So what. Give them your name later.
  • I’m just giving you a basic outline of how to do this.

After you hand them the invitation, I say something like this: “Do you know how to make it to heaven?”

  • Or, “Has anyone ever showed you how to make it to heaven according to the Bible?”
  • And then, you go from there based on their response. You simply have a conversation with them.
  • Many people will say that they need to be good to make it to heaven.
  • Some people will say you must ask Jesus into your heart. You’ll get many different responses.

Don’t attempt to stick to the same script with every person as it won’t work that way.

  • This might make you nervous, but you must have faith in God.
  • This intro of handing them the invitation and then asking them if they know how to get to heaven is what breaks the ice.
  • Now, you can have a conversation with them. See what they say. Allow them to talk.
  • This gives you an idea of their background and what they know.

For example, I’ve ran into many people who have a so-called pastor in their family.

  • I usually say, “Okay, but many different ways to heaven are taught by many different people.”
  • And they will usually agree with that. “But, do you know the way to heaven?”
  • Can I show you the way to heaven according to the Scriptures, which are the word of God?
  • So, we need to put the focus on them and what they believe because what you believe saves you or damns you to hell.

I have 9 Scriptures that I want you to keep close for these conversations you will have. Take them through these.

  • I have listed them all out here. I need a volunteer with the fastest hand to come hand these out for me.
  • Take a close look at these. There are only nine, and I know you already know these Scriptures.
  • Here’s a similar conversation you need to have to win souls to Jesus Christ.
  • You can use this actual paper to show them the Scriptures.
  • These will give you all the points you need to make.

[27] Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

  • You need them to know that you aren’t perfect. You have sinned. They have sinned.
  • We all have sinned. A sin is when we break God’s laws. A lie is a sin. Stealing is a sin.
  • We all have lied. We all have stolen something. All of us come short.
  • Most people will agree with this. You shouldn’t have any trouble making this point.
  • If they agree they are a sinner, you have the first point completed with them. You’re doing good.

[28] Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

  • We want to focus on the first part of this verse. “For the wages of sin is death.”
  • We all have to die because we have sinned against God. Do you know anyone who doesn’t have to die?
  • This shows you the truth within the Bible. Everyone will die because all of us have sinned.
  • This means we aren’t better than each other because all of us are dying.
  • The penalty for sin is death, but it gets much worse than that. And they need to know this.
  • And allow them to talk and ask them if they understand and agree with this.

[29] Revelation 20:14-15 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. 15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

  • Our first death is a physical death. The second death is your soul being cast into hell.
  • If your name is not found written in the Book of Life, you will be cast into the lake of fire.
  • This is why we’re here today. We want to make sure your name is written in the Book of Life.
  • So, how will you avoid hell? You need to be saved from death and hell.

[30] Revelation 21:8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.

  • The point of this Scripture is to show them that there are some very bad things on that list.
  • But ALL LIARS are included in this list. Have you ever lied before? I have. That makes me a liar.
  • Just as one murder makes someone a murderer, one lie makes someone a liar.
  • “And all liars shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone.”
  • This death, again, is the second death in hell. That’s what we must avoid. How do we avoid this?

[31] Romans 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

  • While we were yet sinners, God sent His only Son, Jesus Christ, to die for us.
  • He loves us. He cares for us. He wants us to go to heaven and not to hell.
  • We’re only here right now because of God’s great love for you and for us.

Explain who Jesus Christ is and what He did for us. Think of who you are speaking with.

  • Think of their background. Think of what you know about them so far. Get them to talk.
  • Make sure they understand Jesus is the Son of God and is God. We were created through Him.
  • We were created by Him. He knows us better than we know ourselves. He knows all of our thoughts.
  • He knows everything that we’ve done. And yet, He still died for us. He was tortured for us.
  • He died, His body was buried, His soul went to hell, and He arose from the dead for us.

Because of Jesus Christ and what He did, we can be saved from death and hell.

  • Do you want to be saved from death and hell? Do you want to go to heaven?
  • Most people, who have made it to this point, are going to say, “YES, I want to go to heaven.”
  • So we move to the next verse. Keep track of where you are in your head and keep moving along.
  • Use the list of verses right there to keep you on the right track.

[32] Acts 16:30-31 And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved? 31 And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.

  • Focus on this Scripture. What MUST I do to be saved?
  • And they said, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved.”
  • You must explain what it means to believe ON Jesus Christ.
  • You must know that it’s only Him who can save you. There’s nothing else that saves.

Stopping sin doesn’t save you. Going to church doesn’t. Prayer doesn’t. Water baptism doesn’t.

  • But Jesus Christ does because He is the sacrifice for sins. He sacrificed Himself for you and I.
  • He took our penalty of death and hell. So we put our trust in Him.
  • I use this example a lot to explain what it means to believe in Him.

If you needed your house painted, and you hired me, you’re saying that you believe in me.

  • You know I exist. But you’re putting your trust in me to get the job done.
  • If you have backup painters or a backup plan, you don’t believe in me.
  • I don’t have a backup plan if Jesus Christ doesn’t save me. I don’t need one. I don’t question Him.
  • I know 100% that He already got the job done. His Father sent Him to do a job.
  • He sent Him to be “THE” Savior of the world. Jesus got the job done perfectly.
  • All we have to do to be saved is believe on Him.

If I am about to take my last breath, I know that Jesus will be there to take me to heaven.

  • How do I know this? Because I have faith in what He says all throughout the Bible.
  • I know 100% without a doubt that He has saved me and will take me to heaven.
  • This is faith. This is trusting in Jesus. This is knowing He has saved you.
  • Nothing else saves. Salvation is not of works. You can’t work to gain salvation.
  • It is the gift of God. He wants to give you a gift.

[33] John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

  • Make sure they see these words.
  • That whosoever, meaning them, believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life.
  • Make sure they know that they can have everlasting life right now.
  • If you believe in Him, that He can save you because of who He is and what He’s done, you have everlasting life right now.
  • You can be saved right now. And if you have everlasting life right now, you cannot lose it.

[34] John 6:47 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.

  • “If Jesus were standing in front of you right now and said this, would you believe Him?”
  • Get people to think. Get them to visualize things. I’m not Jesus.
  • But imagine Him standing eye to eye with you, and saying:
  • “He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.”
  • If you believe in Him, you have everlasting life right now.

Jesus looks at Martha in John Chapter 11 and says, “And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die.”

  • Do you believe in Jesus Christ? If so, do you believe you will never die? This is talking about your soul.
  • Your body will die because of sin, but your soul is saved when you believe in Jesus Christ.
  • It happens in a moment. Do you believe in Jesus Christ?
  • If they say yes, you tell them what it means to have everlasting life. Congratulations, they are saved!
  • And you helped to do that. YOU SHOULD BE VERY HAPPY RIGHT NOW. You should rejoice with them.
  • This will be one of the greatest moments of joy in your life. Last verse. Make sure they know this one.

[35] 1 John 5:13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.

  • They need to know that they have everlasting life right now. They may believe on Jesus Christ!
  • He has saved them. If you have everlasting life right now, can you lost it tomorrow?
  • Can you lose it in 5 years if you do something bad? If so, it wouldn’t be everlasting.
  • Make sure they know this. No matter what, they are saved now if they have believed on Jesus.

What’s next? Ask them if you can pray for them. Ask them if they want to be baptized in water.

  • Explain that baptism is a picture of the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
  • Ask them if they want to learn more. Urge them to come to church and learn more.
  • Tell them that they will need the support of other people who are just like them now.

They are a new creation in Jesus Christ. They will need help. See if they need a Bible.

  • This gives you a reason to come back and check on them.
  • Write down their name and address as you leave.
  • You have a partner with you to help you remember all of these things.
  • Your partner is there to help if you forget anything. Be a team. Help each other. Win souls to Jesus Christ.

This is revival. If you want to revive people, win their soul to Jesus Christ. This revives them from the dead.

  • They were dead. Jesus Christ can resurrect them from the dead. He’s already proven this.
  • Now, it’s time to revive. Start winning souls to Christ. Let’s get out there and do this.
  • Let’s not make any excuses. We’re going to have some set times for soul winning every week and month.
  • Don’t be afraid. Don’t be scared. Why? Because you have Jesus Christ with you.

[36] John 11:25-26 Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: 26 And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?

  • If people want revival, this is what needs to be done. We must go out and preach the Gospel door to door.
  • If all Christians who have believed on Jesus Christ would revive right now for soul winning, the world will change.
  • The churches will change. People will choose churches that aren’t afraid to preach the truth.
  • Don’t be afraid to preach the truth. YOU WILL NEVER DIE. That is what leads to revival.

Let’s pray.
