[2] The title of the sermon today is “STRONG MEN AND WOMEN.”

Let’s Talk About Physical Strength

  • I want to talk about strength today. When reading the Bible, you should notice every detail.
  • Sometimes we miss things, but every little detail is very important.
  • I want to show you some of these details about physical strength today.
  • Something that really irritates me are lying false preachers who talk trash about God’s people.
  • I want to start with a strong man in the Bible that is mocked often in churches.
  • And who does the mocking of this man? Mostly it’s weak Baptist preachers who make me sick.

For example, false preachers and effeminate pastors will call Jacob physically weak. They call him names.

  • They mock at Jacob. They say: “Jacob was a mama’s boy with soft skin who ran at the sight of conflict.”
  • “He was a lover, not a fighter or a hunter. Jacob didn’t fit the bill of masculinity.”
  • “This led to his insecurity.” In other words, they call him weak. They say he’s more like a woman.
  • Is this the truth? Have these so-called “pastors” and “teachers” of the Bible actually read the Bible?
  • Do they just take what they want and ignore everything else? Let’s start in Genesis Chapter 29.

[3] Genesis 29:1-2 Then Jacob went on his journey, and came into the land of the people of the east. 2 And he looked, and behold a well in the field, and, lo, there were three flocks of sheep lying by it; for out of that well they watered the flocks: and a great stone was upon the well’s mouth.

  • Jacob, the so-called “sissy” by Baptist pastors and many others, comes to a well in a field.
  • All of the flocks were watered by this well. A GREAT STONE was upon the well’s mouth.

[4] Genesis 29:3 And thither were all the flocks gathered: and they rolled the stone from the well’s mouth, and watered the sheep, and put the stone again upon the well’s mouth in his place.

  • The shepherds would roll the great stone away so the sheep could drink water.
  • And then they would put the stone again upon the well’s mouth.

[5] Genesis 29:4-6 And Jacob said unto them, My brethren, whence be ye? And they said, Of Haran are we. 5 And he said unto them, Know ye Laban the son of Nahor? And they said, We know him. 6 And he said unto them, Is he well? And they said, He is well: and, behold, Rachel his daughter cometh with the sheep.

  • Jacob learns that these men are of Haran. They tell Jacob that Rachel, Laban’s daughter is on her way.
  • Jacob doesn’t yet know Rachel, but he’s about to meet her.

[6] Genesis 29:7-8 And he said, Lo, it is yet high day, neither is it time that the cattle should be gathered together: water ye the sheep, and go and feed them. 8 And they said, We cannot, until all the flocks be gathered together, and till they roll the stone from the well’s mouth; then we water the sheep.

  • Jacob tells these people, who were not the shepherds of the flocks, to go water the sheep.
  • They say, “We can’t.” There are multiple there, obviously. They is a plural word.
  • They say that they can’t water the flocks until the shepherds roll the stone from the well’s mouth.
  • That is multiple shepherds for multiple flocks. Three flocks of sheep were already there.
  • So, at least 3 shepherds would move that great stone from the mouth of the well.

[7] Genesis 29:9-10 And while he yet spake with them, Rachel came with her father’s sheep: for she kept them. 10 And it came to pass, when Jacob saw Rachel the daughter of Laban his mother’s brother, and the sheep of Laban his mother’s brother, that Jacob went near, and rolled the stone from the well’s mouth, and watered the flock of Laban his mother’s brother.

  • Now, do you see what happened there? Don’t miss these things.
  • When Jacob saw Rachel, he went to that great stone and rolled it from the well’s mouth.
  • Does the Bible say that Jacob and all the other people went and moved the stone? No, it doesn’t.
  • Let me be clear right here so no one mistakes what I’m saying.
  • The Bible says that, “Jacob went near, and rolled the stone from the well’s mouth.”
  • Jacob moved that great stone on his own. That’s what the Bible says.

But weak little preachers, who supposedly represent God, change all of God’s words.

  • They say things like: “There’s no way Jacob moved the stone on his own.”
  • “Jacob was a smooth man who loved his mom so there’s no way he moved the stone.”
  • If you look up Adam Clarke’s commentary on the Bible, you’ll see him say:
  • “Jacob assisted the shepherds to roll off the stone for it is not likely he did it by himself.”

Adam Clarke was a British Methodist theologian and so-called Biblical scholar.

  • He lived from 1762 to 1832 and is, supposedly, a Bible expert. But is he?
  • Looks to me like he can’t read the clear words of the Bible and understand them.
  • He acts as if God must have forgotten something.
  • It’s people like him who’ve decreased faith in God’s words.
  • People look to these so-called “Bible scholars” like Adam Clarke to learn the Bible.

Jacob wasn’t a weak and effeminate man. There’s not one example in the Bible of God using an effeminate man.

  • NOT ONE PHYSICALLY WEAK MAN did God use in the Bible. God doesn’t prefer feminine men.
  • Make sure you understand this. JACOB WAS NOT FEMININE as lying preachers will teach.

[8] Genesis 27:11-12 And Jacob said to Rebekah his mother, Behold, Esau my brother is a hairy man, and I am a smooth man: 12 My father peradventure will feel me, and I shall seem to him as a deceiver; and I shall bring a curse upon me, and not a blessing.

  • Jacob wasn’t a hairy man. Does that make Jacob feminine and weak? NO, IT DOESN’T.
  • Idiotic false preachers come up with this trash.
  • And many of those same Baptist preachers will teach that men shouldn’t have facial hair.
  • They don’t make any sense. David and his servants had facial hair. Saul’s son Mephibosheth had a beard.
  • Amasa and Ezra had facial hair. Aaron, the brother of Moses and the first priest of Israel had facial hair.
  • Do you know who else had a beard?

[9] Isaiah 50:6 I gave my back to the smiters, and my cheeks to them that plucked off the hair: I hid not my face from shame and spitting.

  • That Scripture is talking about Jesus Christ. They plucked the hair from his cheeks.
  • If Jesus Christ had facial hair, then I’ll have facial hair. Who cares what Baptist Bible Colleges teach?
  • They aren’t Bible colleges. Get real. They talk trash about Jacob.
  • They would tell Jesus he wasn’t welcome in their college unless he shaved his beard.
  • These same people call Jacob weak and feminine because he was a smooth man.
  • But they all shave all their facial hair off. Now, do they make any sense at all?
  • God doesn’t say that having hair, a beard, or anything like that makes a man a man.
  • Jacob was not weak. He was a physically strong man. He just proved it in Genesis Chapter 29.

[10] Genesis 28:10-11 And Jacob went out from Beer-sheba, and went toward Haran. 11 And he lighted upon a certain place, and tarried there all night, because the sun was set; and he took of the stones of that place, and put them for his pillows, and lay down in that place to sleep.

  • Would a weak and feminine man use rocks for pillows and sleep on them all night?
  • No, they wouldn’t. These same “pastors” who call Jacob feminine would whine and cry all night long.
  • You wouldn’t hear the end of them having to sleep outside on a pillow.
  • They would be afraid of the dark and sleeping outside on their rock pillows. But not Jacob.
  • He wasn’t so afraid of everything like they make him out to be.
  • Because Jacob decided to be kind and nice to his brother, Esau, they MOCK JACOB.

Jacob Wasn’t Physically Weak Like False Preachers Will Teach

The Bible doesn’t say this, but I would guarantee you that Jacob would have taken Esau easily in a physical fight.

  • But I am going to show you what the Bible says about Jacob and why I say this.
  • Look, I’m getting sick of people lying about God, His words, and His people. Tired of it.
  • Let’s see what the actual words of the Bible say. And remember, stop allowing people to lie to you.
  • God is sitting in the heavens laughing at these weak preachers who Jacob would destroy physically.

God knows the truth. Do you know what God knows about Jacob? Jacob wrestled with God.

  • Have you ever wrestled with someone? How long does it take for you to get tired?
  • It’s not easy. Most people in today’s world would be tired after 5 minutes. They would be out of breath.
  • And they haven’t went up against God either. But Jacob has.
  • Do you see how evil it is to talk trash about Jacob and mock Jacob?
  • These are truly evil people who do this.

[11] Genesis 32:24-25 And Jacob was left alone; and there wrestled a man with him until the breaking of the day. 25 And when he saw that he prevailed not against him, he touched the hollow of his thigh; and the hollow of Jacob’s thigh was out of joint, as he wrestled with him.

  • This man wrestling with Jacob prevailed not against Jacob. He wrestled until the breaking of day.
  • He didn’t win against Jacob when wrestling with Jacob.
  • Jacob’s thigh was out of joint, and he kept going. Do you understand this? See the details.
  • What do you think these preachers would be like in their wrestling match with God?
  • Do you think they would keep going until the break of day even when their thigh was out of joint?
  • Yeah right. And yet, they call Jacob a wimp. What a joke these people are.

[12] Genesis 32:26-28 And he said, Let me go, for the day breaketh. And he said, I will not let thee go, except thou bless me. 27 And he said unto him, What is thy name? And he said, Jacob. 28 And he said, Thy name shall be called no more Jacob, but Israel: for as a prince hast thou power with God and with men, and hast prevailed.

  • Listen up men and young men. Jacob fought and he didn’t give up. We fight to the death here.
  • We do not give up ever. We work hard. We fight for God. And we don’t give up.
  • We fight for the right things. Jacob fought for a blessing from God. Will you do the same?
  • Jacob was a man and a strong man. This world today doesn’t produce men like that.
  • But the so-called men of today’s world will mock a true man like Jacob of the Bible.
  • Jacob had power with God and with men. He prevailed in this wrestling match.
  • He didn’t give up. Could God have taken him? Of course, but he didn’t. Jacob proved himself.

[13] Genesis 32:29-31 And Jacob asked him, and said, Tell me, I pray thee, thy name. And he said, Wherefore is it that thou dost ask after my name? And he blessed him there. 30 And Jacob called the name of the place Peniel: for I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved. 31 And as he passed over Penuel the sun rose upon him, and he halted upon his thigh.

  • Jacob saw God face to face. Who was that? JESUS CHRIST. Jacob wrestled Jesus Christ.
  • Jesus tested Jacob and Jacob passed the test. HE IS A STRONG MAN WITH FAITH IN GOD.
  • He wanted a blessing so badly that he wrestled all night long and his thigh was out of joint.
  • You don’t see Jacob whining about sleeping on stone pillows or having his thigh out of joint.
  • He didn’t whine and complain about a bad back. He got up and walked with his injured thigh.
  • Now, do you really want to call Jacob names? REALLY???

Do you know why Jacob was a physically strong man? Think about it. Jacob was an extremely hard worker.

  • You can watch how he worked within the Bible. Was Jacob perfect? No way.
  • He deceived his very own father and paid for that. He was deceived himself many times.
  • Laban deceived him. Leah deceived him. He paid for that sin of deceiving his father Isaac.
  • But Jacob worked extremely hard and he gained physical strength by working so hard.
  • God rewards hard physical work with strength.

For example, you can take a man from a farm who does hard physical work on his own.

  • Take a man who digs post holes all day long and carries heavy objects all day long.
  • Take the man who carries 5 gallon buckets of water to water the animals.
  • Take the man who puts up hay out in the field in 100 degree hot and humid weather.
  • Take the man who works out in the fields plowing with the oxen like Elisha did.

Take a man like that and put him up against a huge bodybuilder with their pink tank top.

  • Guess who wins? No doubt. The man who works hard in the field will destroy that bodybuilder.
  • That man who works hard in the fields doesn’t take drugs like the bodybuilder who dies young.
  • The man in the field doesn’t need a mirror to watch his muscles and admire himself.
  • He’s going to work hard ALL DAY LONG and get the job done to feed his family.
  • The man in the field doesn’t need hair gel. He uses sweat to style his hair.

He uses his money wisely because he worked so hard for that money. He doesn’t need hair gel.

  • Understand this right now. Men in the Bible didn’t use hair gel. They didn’t wear spandex jeans.
  • We need to raise some men in this world. Young boys need to stop trying to look like young girls.
  • Men don’t have pony tails. Men don’t look like women. Jacob wasn’t feminine. OBVIOUSLY.
  • God doesn’t want you, as a man, to be feminine like. Please make sure you see this.
  • Especially, young men who might be listening to this all over the world, GOD MADE YOU TO BE A MAN.
  • STAND UP AND BE A MAN. Be like Jacob. Be strong. Do physical work. Take care of your family.
  • WORK HARD as you’re working to the Lord.

[14] 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, 10 Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.

  • Do these foolish preachers really believe that Jacob was effeminate? Do they read God’s words at all?
  • “NOR EFFEMINATE” is in that list right there. As a man, don’t be feminine. Don’t act like a woman.
  • And listen to this next verse after Jacob first met Rachel.

[15] Genesis 29:11 And Jacob kissed Rachel, and lifted up his voice, and wept.

  • Guess what men? It’s okay to cry. It doesn’t make you feminine. Jesus wept too.
  • When there’s something to cry over, it’s okay to cry and to weep. Losing someone should make you cry.
  • You should cry for your brothers and sisters in Christ when they lose someone.
  • MEN CAN CRY AND WEEP. There is no GREATER MAN than Jesus Christ and He wept.

[16] John 11:33-36 When Jesus therefore saw her weeping, and the Jews also weeping which came with her, he groaned in the spirit, and was troubled, 34 And said, Where have ye laid him? They said unto him, Lord, come and see. 35 Jesus wept. 36 Then said the Jews, Behold how he loved him!

  • Again, some men will teach their boys that they should never cry because only women cry.
  • This is wrong. It’s okay to cry. GOD SAYS SO.
  • Just don’t whine and cry about things that don’t matter like your thigh being out of joint.
  • Suck it up. Take it. Get over it. Don’t look for sympathy from people.
  • After Jacob met Rachel, do you know what he did? He went straight to work for Laban.
  • He didn’t ask for pay. He went and showed them what type of man that he was. Listen to this Scripture.

[17] Genesis 29:12-13 And Jacob told Rachel that he was her father’s brother, and that he was Rebekah’s son: and she ran and told her father. 13 And it came to pass, when Laban heard the tidings of Jacob his sister’s son, that he ran to meet him, and embraced him, and kissed him, and brought him to his house. And he told Laban all these things.

[18] Genesis 29:14-15 And Laban said to him, Surely thou art my bone and my flesh. And he abode with him the space of a month. 15 And Laban said unto Jacob, Because thou art my brother, shouldest thou therefore serve me for nought? tell me, what shall thy wages be?

  • Jacob went to work for a month and served Laban for nothing. He was proving himself.
  • He was showing how hard he worked.
  • Good men and strong men will help others through hard work and not ask for anything.
  • For example, my parents have helped me through hard work many times and I will do the same for them.
  • We don’t ask each other for pay or for rewards or anything like that. We just help each other.
  • My parents, wife, and kids shoveled rock from many trailer loads while I had to travel for work.
  • They did that for me when they didn’t have to. They greatly helped me. I remember that.
  • I will do the same for them too. And they know that. I will help them whenever they need it.

Most People Won’t Do Hard Physical Work For Money Any More

Shoveling rock in 100 degree weather is not easy work. But, will most people do that in today’s world?

  • No, they won’t. They won’t even do it for money. Wouldn’t even think about it.
  • But my parents, in their 60’s, both of them, shoveled rock all day long for nothing. No pay.
  • People don’t want to work any more and people especially don’t want to help someone any more.
  • And this is a very sad thing. People hate hard work in this world today, but God doesn’t.
  • God loves hard working men and women. You can see this all throughout the Bible.
  • God loves His people to be physically strong and work hard for Him.
  • When you’re reading the Bible, you need to notice these things. Pick up on these things through study.

If you want to be a physically strong man, what do you do? Godly women want strong Godly men.

  • As a young man growing up, you should want to be physically strong. It’s not number one, though.
  • It’s a byproduct of doing what God asks you to do. He wants you to work hard.
  • This is the truth. Godly women want strong men, but God wants His men strong too.
  • So, do you play video games if you want to be strong? Do video games make you physically strong?
  • NO, THEY DON’T. Does watching TV make you strong? NO.
  • Does sitting around all the time make you strong? NO. None of these things make you strong.

[19] John 5:15-17 The man departed, and told the Jews that it was Jesus, which had made him whole. 16 And therefore did the Jews persecute Jesus, and sought to slay him, because he had done these things on the sabbath day. 17 But Jesus answered them, My Father worketh hitherto, and I work.

  • Jesus worked on the sabbath day. The sabbath day wasn’t made for God. It was made for man.
  • God the Father works on the sabbath day so Jesus will work on the sabbath day.
  • Jesus clearly says, “My Father works, and I work.” God isn’t lazy. He is a hard worker.
  • If He weren’t, we would all be in big trouble. Let’s say God took a day off. Would the sun come up?
  • Would it rain? Would we have food to eat? Would we have oxygen to breathe?
  • Would we have His protection all throughout the night?

If Jesus Christ would have quit when times got tough, we would all be headed for hell.

  • He was physically beaten and slashed. That’s tough. Being tortured is physical hell.
  • Hard physical work is not easy but it makes you strong. God created hard physical work for a reason.
  • And if you never do any of it, you’re missing out on mental strength and physical strength.
  • When you’re working really hard physically, you get this urge to give up and quit. Right?
  • But, if you keep pushing and working hard, what happens? You always get this extra strength.
  • This is when you’re growing strong. If you just quit, you won’t get strong.
  • Push through and God designed this second wind of significant energy and strength into you.
  • It’s absolutely amazing. This came from God. He’s rewarding you for hard work.

Hard physical work will not hurt you. Being out in the hot sun working will not hurt you. Others say different.

  • If you want to try something difficult, go put up hay bales in the middle of August all day long.
  • Guess what? This hard work doesn’t kill people. It’s actually the other way around.
  • Hard physical work helps you to become healthier, stronger, and prevents sickness and disease.
  • This is proven. And if that’s reality, which it is, this means God designed us this way.
  • He approves of hard physical work. And if He approves of it, why aren’t we doing more of it?
  • You need to drink lots of water, but hard work isn’t going to kill you like so many people think.
  • Hard physical work will make you strong. You must push yourself and keep going when you want to quit.
  • Don’t you think Jacob wanted to quit in that wrestling match? Of course he did. But he wouldn’t give in.

To prevent back injury, most people think it’s best to NEVER lift anything.

  • Some people will look at women and tell them to not lift or touch anything.
  • Other women do this. “Pam, don’t touch that. Don’t lift that. That’s what Josh is for.”
  • Well, Pam married the wrong man for that. I work and she works too. She can lift things.
  • She’s a very strong woman, and that’s the kind of woman I want. I want a woman who can help me.
  • She isn’t as strong as me, but she can help me. Ask her if she has a chance to beat me in arm wrestling.
  • We’ve arm wrestled many times. She doesn’t have a prayer. I challenge her right now. Just kidding.

She’s a strong woman who can and will protect our children when I’m not around.

  • Yes, she’s stronger than most men in this world today who won’t do any physical work at all.
  • But, if a man will work hard physically, she won’t be as strong as that man. This is how God designed us.
  • I want her to be strong. I want her to lift things so she doesn’t hurt her back.

Lifting heavy things is what prevents back injuries. Have you heard the story of Milo and the calf?

  • Milo strength trained by carrying a baby calf daily from its birth until it became a full sized ox.
  • That’s a slow progression in the amount of weight lifted. Do you know who else does similar things?
  • WOMEN with children. Women lift heavy weights all day when they have children.
  • For example, Pam carries Emma up to bed at night when she falls asleep on her. That’s good for her.
  • I don’t say, “Oh honey, let me carry her for you.” No, she can do it because it’s very good for her.
  • If I lifted everything for her, where do we draw the line? How about a glass of water?
  • Do I need to lift that for her too? Women can be strong too. They need to build strength.

[20] Proverbs 31:10-13 Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies. 11 The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil. 12 She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life. 13 She seeketh wool, and flax, and worketh willingly with her hands.

  • All of you women and young women out there: Do you want to be a virtuous woman?
  • A virtuous woman is a good and a Godly woman. This is who a Godly man wants.
  • This is what God wants from all of His women. God says her price is far above rubies.
  • She’s worth a lot to God. My wife is worth a lot to me. She’s worth so much to me that I would die for her.
  • I know I can trust in her. She does me good and not evil. She is my helper just as God designed.

A virtuous woman, just as verse 13 says right there, worketh willingly WITH HER HANDS.

  • She is not afraid of some hard physical work. She will get her hands dirty. She doesn’t just stay inside.
  • Don’t let this world deceive you. Don’t allow churches and preachers to deceive you. Hear God’s words.
  • For example, my wife and I are going to teach our daughters how to do hard physical work.
  • This makes them strong, tough, and ready to take on this world. We won’t turn them into weak women.
  • They will NOT be lazy women. They will learn to work very hard.

[21] Proverbs 31:14-17 She is like the merchants’ ships; she bringeth her food from afar. 15 She riseth also while it is yet night, and giveth meat to her household, and a portion to her maidens. 16 She considereth a field, and buyeth it: with the fruit of her hands she planteth a vineyard. 17 She girdeth her loins with strength, and strengtheneth her arms.

  • A virtuous woman brings her food from afar. She didn’t get a machine. She brought it herself.
  • She carried it herself. She works hard even at night. She provides food for her household.
  • Notice that the virtuous woman in Proverbs Chapter 31 doesn’t stay inside the house all the time.
  • She takes cares of the house, but she does more than that.
  • She takes a look at a field and says, “Hey, I want that field. I’m going to work in that field.”
  • “I’m going to teach my children how to work in that field right there.”

Godly Women Are Physically Strong Women

She buys the field. With the FRUIT OF HER HANDS, she plants a vineyard.

  • Women in the Bible are keepers of fields too. Does the Bible EVER ONCE say that women should be weak?
  • No, the Bible doesn’t. God doesn’t want women to be weak. He wants strong and Godly women.
  • “She girdeth her loins with strength.” Hey, women, gird up your loins with strength. BE STRONG.
  • Do hard physical work. Work hard. Strengthen your arms. Don’t be afraid to lift something.
  • Don’t be afraid to carry something. Don’t command your husband to do every physical job for you.
  • “Honey, I made you a list of every physical job I need you to do. I just can’t do it.”
  • BLAH, BLAH, BLAH. You can’t do it because you never tried. STRENGTHEN YOURSELF.

For example, my Mom is 66 years old and she is strong. She works hard physically at the farm.

  • She works outside all day long. She’s not a weak woman and never has been a weak woman.
  • She uses the weed eater, as we call it in Kentucky, or the trimmer for hours in the hot sun.
  • Have you tried that before? Give it a shot. It will make you physically strong.
  • She is stronger than many men in this world today. What’s happening in our world?
  • This is not according to God’s will for men. Men are to be strong leaders.
  • Physically and spiritually STRONG leaders of their homes.
  • We need to raise this upcoming generation of Godly men and women as God wants us to.

I remember my Dad had me digging post holes as a young boy. This is my first memory of hard work.

  • I remember thinking to myself how difficult it was to dig those holes.
  • I remember thinking, “Does he really want me to dig all of these holes? Is this a joke?”
  • Hey, do you know what I found out? He wasn’t joking. “Son, get to work.”
  • I also remember carrying full 5-gallon buckets of water to give the animals some water to drink.
  • I started working with my Dad and carrying 50-pound feed bags as a young boy.
  • Then I started carrying 2 at a time while my Dad threw 4 up on his shoulder.
  • He showed me how to work hard physically, how to not give up, and how to be strong.

Have you ever noticed who God chooses in the Bible to do His work? Please notice these things.

  • Think about the disciples that Jesus chose. What were they doing when Jesus passed by?
  • Why do you think Jesus Christ chose those men?
  • Do you think God chooses lazy people to do great things for him? Think about that.
  • Do you think God chooses someone who has no work endurance to do great things for him?
  • He doesn’t. Not once does He do that. Hear these Scriptures.

[22] Matthew 4:18-20 And Jesus, walking by the sea of Galilee, saw two brethren, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea: for they were fishers. 19 And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men. 20 And they straightway left their nets, and followed him.

  • Jesus walks by and sees Andrew and Peter doing what? WORKING. And they were working hard.
  • The fishing they were doing was not the type of fishing we do with a pole.
  • It wasn’t easy and relaxing fishing that they were doing. Think about that job. It’s not easy.
  • Guaranteed that Peter and Andrew were extremely strong physically.
  • They would cast the nets into the sea and pull them back. That’s heavy. That’s physically demanding work.

[23] Matthew 4:21-22 And going on from thence, he saw other two brethren, James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, in a ship with Zebedee their father, mending their nets; and he called them. 22 And they immediately left the ship and their father, and followed him.

  • Fishing is not easy work. Jesus chose HARD WORKING people to do great things for Him.
  • Why would he want a physically weak person who never does anything? HE DOESN’T.
  • Make sure you see this and understand this.

[24] Luke 5:4-6 Now when he had left speaking, he said unto Simon, Launch out into the deep, and let down your nets for a draught. 5 And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net. 6 And when they had this done, they inclosed a great multitude of fishes: and their net brake.

  • These men TOILED all the night. Do you know what that means? They didn’t just sit there.
  • Toil means to labor and to work hard. THEY WORKED ALL NIGHT LONG FOR NOTHING.
  • So, when you think your hard work is for nothing, you would be wrong. Hard work will always pay off.
  • When these mean toiled all night long, Jesus saw what happened. God’s eyes are always around.
  • He knows when you’re working hard. He rewards. He says, “Let down your net.”
  • And it was such a great multitude of fishes that their net brake.

[25] Luke 5:7 And they beckoned unto their partners, which were in the other ship, that they should come and help them. And they came, and filled both the ships, so that they began to sink.

  • They picked up all those fishes and put them in 2 ships. That’s a lot of hard physical work.
  • These were the type of people, HARD WORKING PEOPLE, that Jesus chose to work for Him.
  • Do you want Jesus to choose you to do great things for Him? Then you must be a hard worker.
  • And when you work hard, I guarantee you that you will be physically strong and healthy.
  • You will live a long life when you put Jesus Christ first. When you do this His way, He will reward you.
  • You’ll have more years to win more souls to Jesus Christ. And that’s what you want.

Effeminate Preachers Mock Godly Men Within The Bible

Do you want to hear some of God’s prophets in the Bible? I do. You get all these weak theologians today.

  • Scribes. Preachers. Pastors. Bishops. They look like women. They are physically weak.
  • And they mock God’s people within the Bible. These people mock Jacob and Jeremiah.
  • Yet, none of them can be even close to the MEN that Jacob and Jeremiah were.
  • They wouldn’t make it one day in their shoes. But they call them names. They mock them.
  • Hey, listen, NEVER mock God’s people. Never mock Jacob or Jeremiah. Don’t call Jeremiah a cry baby.
  • Don’t mock prophets of God. One day you’ll understand. But before we get there, understand this.

[26] 2 Kings 2:23-24 And he went up from thence unto Beth-el: and as he was going up by the way, there came forth little children out of the city, and mocked him, and said unto him, Go up, thou bald head; go up, thou bald head. 24 And he turned back, and looked on them, and cursed them in the name of the LORD. And there came forth two she bears out of the wood, and tare forty and two children of them.

  • I guess all of the preachers who mock Jacob and Jeremiah don’t see Scriptures like this.
  • This is what happens when you mock God’s prophets.
  • Elisha was bald. Does that mean he was physically weak? NO WAY. God shows us this right here.
  • This means baldness isn’t important to God. He chose Elisha. Did you notice how Elisha was chosen?
  • Do you remember what Elisha was doing when Elijah came by? Let’s see.

[27] 1 Kings 19:13 And it was so, when Elijah heard it, that he wrapped his face in his mantle, and went out, and stood in the entering in of the cave. And, behold, there came a voice unto him, and said, What doest thou here, Elijah?

[28] 1 Kings 19:14-15 And he said, I have been very jealous for the LORD God of hosts: because the children of Israel have forsaken thy covenant, thrown down thine altars, and slain thy prophets with the sword; and I, even I only, am left; and they seek my life, to take it away. 15 And the LORD said unto him, Go, return on thy way to the wilderness of Damascus: and when thou comest, anoint Hazael to be king over Syria:

[29] 1 Kings 19:16-17 And Jehu the son of Nimshi shalt thou anoint to be king over Israel: and Elisha the son of Shaphat of Abel-meholah shalt thou anoint to be prophet in thy room. 17 And it shall come to pass, that him that escapeth the sword of Hazael shall Jehu slay: and him that escapeth from the sword of Jehu shall Elisha slay.

  • God knew Elisha. He tells Elijah that Elisha is the chosen prophet to be in his room.
  • Was Elisha sitting in the house doing nothing? Let’s see.

[30] 1 Kings 19:19 So he departed thence, and found Elisha the son of Shaphat, who was plowing with twelve yoke of oxen before him, and he with the twelfth: and Elijah passed by him, and cast his mantle upon him.

  • This man, Elisha, was working out in the field and Elijah comes by and chooses him.
  • This is similar to Jesus Christ choosing the disciples. They were working hard.
  • Elisha was plowing with the twelfth yoke of oxen. Try that. Do you think that was easy?
  • They didn’t have tractors. They were working hard physically.
  • This Scripture might even mean that Elisha was plowing HIMSELF with the oxen.
  • Guaranteed that Elisha wasn’t an effeminate man. He was physically strong.

Notice that I’m not talking about supernatural strength here.

  • I am talking about our own physical strength that we build. These men were physically strong.
  • These men that God chooses are intense men with physical strength. Are they not?
  • When you find a man that works hard physically, you’ll find an intense and tough man.
  • You can see this within the prophets of God.

[31] Mark 14:45-47 And as soon as he was come, he goeth straightway to him, and saith, Master, master; and kissed him. 46 And they laid their hands on him, and took him. 47 And one of them that stood by drew a sword, and smote a servant of the high priest, and cut off his ear.

  • When Judas Iscariot betrayed Jesus, this disciple, who was Peter, drew his sword and cut off the ear of this servant of the high priest.
  • Again, Jesus chose physically tough men to be his disciples. He doesn’t choose feminine men. Not once.
  • Do you want to see what type of man ELIJAH was? I do. So let’s read about Elijah.
  • He’s one of my favorites in the Bible, and I can’t wait to meet Elijah one day.

[32] 1 Kings 18:21-22 And Elijah came unto all the people, and said, How long halt ye between two opinions? if the LORD be God, follow him: but if Baal, then follow him. And the people answered him not a word. 22 Then said Elijah unto the people, I, even I only, remain a prophet of the LORD; but Baal’s prophets are four hundred and fifty men.

  • Elijah comes up against 450 prophets of Baal. 1 vs 450. He doesn’t care because he knows he’s not alone.

[33] 1 Kings 18:23-24 Let them therefore give us two bullocks; and let them choose one bullock for themselves, and cut it in pieces, and lay it on wood, and put no fire under: and I will dress the other bullock, and lay it on wood, and put no fire under: 24 And call ye on the name of your gods, and I will call on the name of the LORD: and the God that answereth by fire, let him be God. And all the people answered and said, It is well spoken.

  • He says, “You 450 prophets can take one of the bulls and dress it. I’ll take the other one.”
  • Elijah does all of this work on his own. Watch what he does as we continue.

[34] 1 Kings 18:25-26 And Elijah said unto the prophets of Baal, Choose you one bullock for yourselves, and dress it first; for ye are many; and call on the name of your gods, but put no fire under. 26 And they took the bullock which was given them, and they dressed it, and called on the name of Baal from morning even until noon, saying, O Baal, hear us. But there was no voice, nor any that answered. And they leaped upon the altar which was made.

  • Elijah says, “You have many people. Take the bullock of your choice and dress it first.”
  • “Call on the name of your gods.” And they did from morning until evening. NOTHING HAPPENED.

[35] 1 Kings 18:27-28 And it came to pass at noon, that Elijah mocked them, and said, Cry aloud: for he is a god; either he is talking, or he is pursuing, or he is in a journey, or peradventure he sleepeth, and must be awaked. 28 And they cried aloud, and cut themselves after their manner with knives and lancets, till the blood gushed out upon them.

  • You get these effeminate preachers who would never be like Elijah.
  • “We must not offend anyone,” they say. Have they actually read the Bible? Did the Apostle Paul offend?
  • He withstood Peter to his face. Why did Jesus choose the Apostle Paul? Because he was an intense man.
  • Because he worked hard. He worked very hard. He was a tent maker. Have you tried that? Physical work.
  • Jesus knew the type of person Paul was. Jesus knew Elijah very well too, and He chose Elijah.
  • What does Elijah do here? ELIJAH MOCKS THESE FALSE PROPHETS. You know what? I’ll be like Elijah.
  • I will not be like a Cemetery, I mean Seminary, professor who teaches lies. I’ll be like Elijah.

I Will Be Like Elijah And Mock The False Preachers

I will mock the false prophets and the false preachers. That mocking was coming from the Spirit of God.

  • And it’s not wrong to mock false preachers and false prophets. Stop being deceived by this world.
  • Elijah says, “Maybe your god is talking or pursuing someone or he’s taking a journey or vacation.”
  • “Maybe your god is sleeping. Maybe he needs to be awakened.” He mocks them.

[36] 2 Timothy 1:7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

  • Just remember, when you’re afraid of anything but God, that fear didn’t come from God.
  • God gives us strength, power, love, and a sound mind to make good decisions.

[37] 1 Kings 18:29-30 And it came to pass, when midday was past, and they prophesied until the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice, that there was neither voice, nor any to answer, nor any that regarded. 30 And Elijah said unto all the people, Come near unto me. And all the people came near unto him. And he repaired the altar of the LORD that was broken down.

  • Elijah was physically strong. He repaired the altar that was broken down. Lifting stones is not easy.
  • Did Elijah tell someone else to lift the stones for him because he has a bad back?
  • My Mom had her back broken in a car wreck, and they had her on a stretcher like she was dead.
  • Does she whine and cry about her back hurting? No, she doesn’t. She lifts heavy things.
  • ELIJAH LIFTS HEAVY THINGS. I want to be like that. I don’t want to be physically weak.
  • When God needs me to do something, I want to be able to do it.

[38] 1 Kings 18:31-32 And Elijah took twelve stones, according to the number of the tribes of the sons of Jacob, unto whom the word of the LORD came, saying, Israel shall be thy name: 32 And with the stones he built an altar in the name of the LORD: and he made a trench about the altar, as great as would contain two measures of seed.

  • Elijah builds an altar with stones. He digs a trench about the altar. Have you ever dug a trench?
  • It’s not easy to dig a trench. Elijah was physically strong enough to dig this trench himself.

[39] 1 Kings 18:33-35 And he put the wood in order, and cut the bullock in pieces, and laid him on the wood, and said, Fill four barrels with water, and pour it on the burnt sacrifice, and on the wood. 34 And he said, Do it the second time. And they did it the second time. And he said, Do it the third time. And they did it the third time. 35 And the water ran round about the altar; and he filled the trench also with water.

[40] 1 Kings 18:36-37 And it came to pass at the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice, that Elijah the prophet came near, and said, LORD God of Abraham, Isaac, and of Israel, let it be known this day that thou art God in Israel, and that I am thy servant, and that I have done all these things at thy word. 37 Hear me, O LORD, hear me, that this people may know that thou art the LORD God, and that thou hast turned their heart back again.

[41] 1 Kings 18:38-39 Then the fire of the LORD fell, and consumed the burnt sacrifice, and the wood, and the stones, and the dust, and licked up the water that was in the trench. 39 And when all the people saw it, they fell on their faces: and they said, The LORD, he is the God; the LORD, he is the God.

  • Now, let’s not miss the last part of this story here.

[42] 1 Kings 18:40 And Elijah said unto them, Take the prophets of Baal; let not one of them escape. And they took them: and Elijah brought them down to the brook Kishon, and slew them there.

  • Elijah was led by the Spirit of God. He was physically strong and a very intense man of God.
  • Why was Elijah this way? Because God is this way. God is very strong, mighty, powerful, and intense.

[43] Deuteronomy 4:24 For the LORD thy God is a consuming fire, even a jealous God.

[44] Hebrews 12:29 For our God is a consuming fire.

  • That’s right. MY GOD is a consuming fire, and you shouldn’t mess with him. You shouldn’t mock him.
  • You should call Him names. Instead, you should be very afraid of Him. He will consume you in a moment.
  • Moses was physically strong. Joshua was physically strong. Caleb was physically strong.

[45] Deuteronomy 34:5-7 So Moses the servant of the LORD died there in the land of Moab, according to the word of the LORD. 6 And he buried him in a valley in the land of Moab, over against Beth-peor: but no man knoweth of his sepulchre unto this day. 7 And Moses was an hundred and twenty years old when he died: his eye was not dim, nor his natural force abated.

  • This is what I pray for all of you. Don’t let the world talk you into become a fragile old person.
  • My grandfather was physically strong at 86 years old. You wouldn’t shake hands with him.
  • He kept working hard physically all his life.
  • I hope to see him again in heaven one day or in the clouds when Jesus comes.

Moses Was Still Naturally Strong When He Died

Moses died at 120 years old. His eyesight was still good and his natural force was not abated.

  • In other words, he didn’t lose any of his natural strength. He didn’t lose any of it.
  • The Bible mentions this. I didn’t make this up. The Holy Spirit of God put this here. Must be important.
  • When we work hard, follow God, and sin less, God will take care of us.
  • And He’ll take care of us in our death. He will keep us strong physically and keep us healthy.
  • When we do His work, He’ll support us and keep us around.

[46] Joshua 14:10-11 And now, behold, the LORD hath kept me alive, as he said, these forty and five years, even since the LORD spake this word unto Moses, while the children of Israel wandered in the wilderness: and now, lo, I am this day fourscore and five years old. 11 As yet I am as strong this day as I was in the day that Moses sent me: as my strength was then, even so is my strength now, for war, both to go out, and to come in.

  • This is Caleb speaking here. “As yet I am as strong this day as I was in the day that Moses sent me.”
  • “As my strength was then, even so is my strength now.” Caleb says, “At 85 years old, I can fight.”
  • And please understand something. Fighting is not violence in the Bible.
  • Violence is doing wrong to others. JESUS CHRIST is a man of war and He fights against evil.
  • That’s not violence. I could go on and on about the physically strong men in the Bible.
  • King Saul was a strong man. King David was a strong man. He slew a lion and bear. He slew Goliath.

The prophets of God were all strong and tough. Remember this.

  • Men and women both need to be physically strong. Hard work will make you strong.
  • Do hard physical work. Try to go help on a farm close to where you live.
  • I guarantee they’ll allow you to help. Tell them you want to learn how to work hard.
  • And you will gain strength, power, and wisdom from helping others.
  • Don’t always want something for nothing. No, what I have, I worked hard for. I appreciate it.
  • I am thankful to God for giving me the physical strength and health I need to work hard.
  • Be like Jacob. Go show someone how hard you can work. Don’t hide from work.

Don’t be like the people I’ve worked with in the past.

  • When a customer would come in and want a huge load of pipe, the others would run away.
  • I run to them. “Let’s go get it loaded.” Don’t be a lazy bum. Run towards work and God will reward you.
  • God will always reward hard work. He loves for you to work hard. He says so over and over again.
  • You’ll even get more chances to win souls to Jesus Christ as you work harder.
  • Being physically strong improves your health. This gives you opportunities to win souls to Jesus Christ.
  • It’s not easy walking the streets all day long to give people the gospel of Jesus Christ. It takes endurance.

Don’t forget all of these things you learned today. WORK HARD. God just might choose you for great things.

  • You’ll have a much greater chance of God choosing you when you’re working hard for Him.
  • Be a virtuous woman who works with her hands, takes care of the home, and loves her children.
  • Strengthen your arms. Don’t run away from hard physical work. Always run towards it.
  • That’s the difference in God’s people versus Satan’s people. Who do you want to be with?
  • Do you want to be on the side of the lazy bums or the hard working people who will help you.

I will choose God’s side, and I will work hard. If you ever need my help with some hard work, just ask me.

  • I’m not scared to work hard. I’ve helped lots of people with hard work in my life, and I love hard work.
  • There’s nothing better than conquering something that no one thought you could do. Let’s do it.
  • God be with us. But I’ll guarantee you one thing right now.
  • If you ask me to help you, then you better be working too.
  • If you think I’ll just do it all for you, you would be wrong. Work with me, and we’ll get it done.
  • This is what God wants from us too. He’s not going to do everything for us. That’s why He created work.
  • But when you’re working hard, He will help you just as He helped those disciples who toiled all night long fishing.
