[2] The title of the sermon today is “LOVE THY NEIGHBOR AS THYSELF.”

Introduction to Love Thy Neighbor As Thyself

• We need to learn exactly what LOVE THY NEIGHBOR AS THYSELF truly means.
• And look, if you understand what true Godly love is, this is going to make sense to you.
• If you think love is the false worldly love that tells you to accept everything no matter what, you’re going to have issues understanding this.

For example, all the Disney movies tell you to love yourself no matter what.

• What this means to them and the world is do what you want, follow your heart, and this will make you happy.
• They say, “Doing whatever YOU WANT is what builds a great life.”
• Disney tells you to make yourself happy. You have to love yourself by doing whatever YOU want.

This is called self love and worldly love.

• The world tells you whatever it is that YOU WANT is the best for you, AND don’t let ANYONE ever tell you it’s wrong.
• All of that trash is a lie. The Bible doesn’t say any of that.
• Yet, we all listen to this world and we think it’s the truth. The Bible is the truth.

False churches and false preachers will act as if Jesus says something NEW in the New Testament when He says: “Love thy neighbor as thyself.”

• They will say that the God of the Old Testament is a God of wrath, and Jesus changes all of that in the New Testament and that Jesus is all about love.
• “You should love everyone no matter what man.” Like the hippies from the 70’s. “Love everyone man.”
• I think this entire generation has followed a bunch of potheads from the 70’s who know better than GOD ALMIGHTY.
• That’s who we’re following today. Potheads.

Churches everywhere will flat out lie to people and tell them that God has changed from the Old Testament to the New Testament.

• They’ll say: “Oh, we don’t need to read the Old Testament.
• That’s not the same God as the New Testament.”
• What does that tell me, and what should that tell you?

This tells me that the Churches of this world have created their very own FALSE GOD in their corrupted New Testaments.

• In reality, God is the same yesterday, the same RIGHT NOW, and the same for all of eternity.
• God hasn’t changed. He doesn’t need to change. He was perfect from eternity. He is God.
• And guess what? Jesus is God.
• So He was there in the beginning with God the Father and the Holy Spirit. Jesus is God.

[3] John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

• I know this might amaze many people, but Jesus was right there with the Father in the Old Testament.
• When God pours out His wrath, you can KNOW that Jesus Christ is right there with God the Father and the Holy Ghost.
• Remember, Jesus has ALWAYS been right there with God the Father and the Holy Ghost.
• JESUS is pouring out HIS WRATH throughout the Old Testament. Yes, that is Jesus Christ!
• All 3 persons in 1 God have existed for all of eternity TOGETHER as ONE. Jesus is THE WORD.

People will act like loving they neighbor as theyself is the MOST IMPORTANT commandment from God and that it means to love everyone no matter what.

• If they murder your brother, go give them a hug, forgive them, and tell them it’s okay that you love them.
• That’s what the world is placing on pedestal today.
• If a student wants to shoot up a school, take the gun away, hug that student, and don’t give that student any penalty.

The world says that it’s not loving to punish or penalize someone. Hey, everyone has problems.

• If they want to kill everyone around them, it’s okay. Seriously, that’s our world and country today.
• That’s where we’re going.
• In other words, we’re heading to a world of complete chaos because everyone should be able to do whatever they want.
• Is that what the Bible says? Is that what love your neighbor as yourself really means?
• Let’s look at this in detail today and see what the Bible really says.

[4] Matthew 22:37-40 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. 38 This is the first and great commandment.

• Do you know where that quote from Jesus came from? That’s the same as the Old Testament right there.

[5] Deuteronomy 6:4-9 Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD: 5 And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might. 6 And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: 7 And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up. 8 And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes. 9 And thou shalt write them upon the posts of thy house, and on thy gates.

There Is No Difference In This Commandment Between Testaments

• Look, there is no difference in commandments from the Old Testament to the New Testament.
• Jesus didn’t come to get rid of the laws that God set for us. He came to fulfill.
• Loving the Lord God with all thy heart and with all thy soul and with all thy mind IS the FIRST AND GREAT COMMANDMENT.
• In Matthew Chapter 22, Jesus continues.

[6] Matthew 22:39-40 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. 40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

• So, as always, we look to search the Scriptures and see where else the term “Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself” is found.
• Let’s see where it comes from first. Of course, it comes straight from the Old Testament.
• Jesus quotes Old Testament Scripture over and over again.
• Don’t you think that’s a clue that nothing has changed from the Old to the New Testament?

[7] Leviticus 19:18 Thou shalt not avenge, nor bear any grudge against the children of thy people, but thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself: I am the LORD.

• This isn’t some new teaching from Jesus. This was read every Sabbath Day by the Israelites.
• The new meaning is the NEW MADE UP type of love that the world created to make YOURSELF HAPPY no matter what you do.
• This is a new SELFISH LOVE that the world made up. It’s not true Godly love.

That same “LOVE THY NEIGHBOR AS THYSELF” is found 7 times in the New Testament.

• So once in the Old Testament and 8 times in the New Testament.
• And each time the New Testament is quoting Leviticus 19:18.

So, let’s talk about an example of worldly love in which homosexuals quote Jesus and say that we should all love our neighbors (them) as ourselves.

• Well, guess what? Leviticus 19:18 is where that originates from, which is THE OLD TESTAMENT.
• They will say that the Old Testament wrath of God against homosexuals is different now because Jesus brought love into the world.
• Now, we can do whatever we want in the name of love.
• Those people want to get rid of the Old Testament because that doesn’t match their false god who they created in their own corrupt mind.
• So remember, Leviticus Chapter 19 is where the command love thy neighbor as thyself is found.
• Well, guess what Leviticus Chapter 18 says?

[8] Leviticus 18:22 Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination.

• And then guess what the Leviticus Chapter 20 says?

[9] Leviticus 20:13 If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.

• But the same people who want to ignore Leviticus will use Leviticus Chapter 19 to say that we should love all people no matter what.
• They’ll say that Jesus brought love and not hate.
• They’ll say things like: “If you don’t approve of homosexuality, you’re hating your neighbor.”
• No, actually, we don’t approve of homosexuality because we love with Godly love.
• We don’t want those people to face God’s wrath. So we tell them the truth.

Guess what, though? They don’t even look at Leviticus Chapter 18 and 20 but they’ll use Chapter 19 because they think it says what they want it to say.

• Pick and choose and you can make the Bible say whatever you want it to say.
• You should see the humor and ignorance by people who try to use the Bible to make it say whatever they want.
• Just look at the same book, previous chapter, following chapter, next verse sometimes.
• The Bible always explains what it means. That’s why we must study the Bible as a whole.
• Read your Bibles. It all comes together perfectly.

Churches, false preachers, and the world will get mad at you and hate you for simply knowing your Bible and what it says.

• People don’t want to hear what the Bible says. They want to hear whatever makes them happy.
• If you’re not of God, the Bible will not make you happy.
• I love God and His words so the Bible makes me happy because I know I am learning the 100% absolute TRUTH.

The entire problem with this world is the world doesn’t know God because they do not read their Bibles.

• They might say they do, but they don’t. They might read a Chapter or two each year.
• Churches don’t even use the Bible any more.
• If they do, they use some corrupted version which contradicts itself over and over.
• You can’t get the truth from corruption.

People don’t want to touch the Old Testament. Leviticus is just OFF LIMITS to so-called churches of this world.

• Their nasty, vile, disgusting, and sick churches. They will never teach from the book of Leviticus.
• OFF LIMITS. Too much of God’s wrath. We don’t want that so we’ll just ignore it they say.

So that was an introduction to this sermon.

• Now, I want to look at what Jesus actually teaches in the New Testament.
• Does He ever say love everyone no matter what? Does Jesus ever say to make friends with the world?
• Does He say to accept everyone and everything no matter what? Is this really what Jesus said?
• Most churches think so. Let’s see. Can we find that in the Bible anywhere?

“What Is Written In The Law? What Readest Thou?”

I want to go to Luke Chapter 25 next.

• I want to look at one of these passages in which Jesus Christ tells someone to love thy neighbor as thyself.
• We need to understand what neighbor means and what love them as thyself actually means.

[10] Luke 10:25-27 And, behold, a certain lawyer stood up, and tempted him, saying, Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life? 26 He said unto him, What is written in the law? how readest thou? 27 And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself.

• So this lawyer knew the Scriptures and what they said. He knew Deuteronomy and Leviticus.
• Let’s see what Jesus says.

[11] Luke 10:28 And he said unto him, Thou hast answered right: this do, and thou shalt live.

Jesus says: “You got it right. Do that and you shall live.”

• In other words, if you ALWAYS love the LORD GOD with all thy heart, you will love your neighbor as yourself AND YOU WILL fulfill all of the law.
• This means you will always do right and you will be RIGHTEOUS before the Lord.
• But, can anyone do that at all times in their life? No, they cannot fulfill that commandment at all times.
• We mess up.
• That verse should have been the end of the conversation between Jesus and that Lawyer, but the Lawyer had to keep going and I’m glad he did.
• We’re going to learn something from his questions today.

[12] Luke 10:29 But he, willing to justify himself, said unto Jesus, And who is my neighbour?

• This Lawyer wanted to justify himself. He’s testing and tempting Jesus.
• He asks: “Well, who exactly is my neighbor, Jesus?” Jesus tells us a story that answers his question.
• Let’s listen to EXACTLY what Jesus says here.

[13] Luke 10:30 And Jesus answering said, A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, which stripped him of his raiment, and wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead.

• A man was traveling along a road and thieves attacked him, beat him up, took his clothing, wounded him, and left him half dead.
• Picture that in your mind. They left a man half dead on the side of a road.

[14] Luke 10:31 And by chance there came down a certain priest that way: and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side.

• A religious leader, a priest, saw the man half dead and passed by on the other side.
• He didn’t want anything to do with this man.

[15] Luke 10:32 And likewise a Levite, when he was at the place, came and looked on him, and passed by on the other side.

Again, a LEVITE or a descendant of Aaron from the Tribe of Levi, came by and even looked on him.

• Guess what he did? He passed by on the other side.
• So far, 2 people who were supposedly “good” religious people passed a half dead person by. I would like to think in today’s world that we wouldn’t pass a half dead person by and not help them. But, yes, it happens all the time in this world. We pass by people who need help. I’ve done it. You’ve done it.

I’ve had a situation where I was choking in a restaurant before, the room started spinning, I couldn’t breathe, very close to passing out, and people kind of put their hand over their face and turned their heads as if they didn’t see me.

• Even the servers at the restaurant did the same. Pam saw me and helped me.
• If it weren’t for her, I could have died that night because no one who saw me wanted to help.
• Same thing goes in this story. Let’s keep reading.

[16] Luke 10:33 But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he had compassion on him,

• I want you to realize that Samaritans were the lowest of people to the Jews.
• When the disciples saw Jesus talking with a Samaritan woman at the well in John Chapter 4, they marveled.
• The woman even asked Jesus: “Why are you talking to me? You’re a Jew and I am a Samaritan. Jews don’t talk to Samaritans.”
• Jesus is using this example to surprise this lawyer who thinks he’s better because he knows the Scriptures.
• But no one knows the Scriptures better than Jesus Christ Himself. Jesus is the Word of God.
• Let’s see what Jesus says.

[17] Luke 10:33-34 But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he had compassion on him, 34 And went to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him.

• This Samaritan had compassion on this man that was half beat to death by thieves.
• He took care of his wounds, put him on his own beast, took him to an inn, and took care of the man.
• Do you see that?

[18] Luke 10:35 And on the morrow when he departed, he took out two pence, and gave them to the host, and said unto him, Take care of him; and whatsoever thou spendest more, when I come again, I will repay thee.

• Then he goes a step further and pays for the man to be taken care of further.
• He says, “Take care of him, and I will repay you when I come back.”
• Whatever it takes, I’ll repay you when I get back. This man was a complete stranger.
• He wasn’t getting anything out of this. It was costing him a lot of time and money.
• But he did it, and he didn’t care if he was getting anything back.

[19] Luke 10:36-37 Which now of these three, thinkest thou, was neighbour unto him that fell among the thieves? 37 And he said, He that shewed mercy on him. Then said Jesus unto him, Go, and do thou likewise.

• Jesus says: “Which of those 3 examples was NEIGHBOR unto the man that fell among the thieves?”
• He says: “WHICH ONE WAS NEIGHBOR TO HIM?”
• The word neighbor start with the word neigh or nigh or near.
• It’s someone who is loving and compassionate to someone who is near and in need.

A Neighbor Must Be Someone Who Is Near And In Need

So the first 2 guys, the priest and the Levite, come NIGH OR NEAR to this man who needs help. He’s half dead.

• Did they have compassion and love towards this man? No, he was too much trouble for them.
• They put themselves above this man that needed help.
• They were probably thinking what we think all the time: “I don’t have time for that. Sorry.”
• Jesus is saying, that’s not being a neighbor to someone.

If you see someone near that needs help, show them compassion and love. That’s being a good neighbor.

• We all think of a neighbor in the world today as someone who lives close or near to us.
• They’re in the same neighborhood, right?
• If you see someone who lives close, you say “Hello, I am YOUR NIEGHBOR!”
• But are you according to the Bible.
• A neighbor is someone who shows compassion and love towards people in need.

So listen, some people teach that EVERYONE is your neighbor.

• That’s false because EVERYONE isn’t near to you at all times.
• If someone is near to you physically, then they have a chance to be your neighbor.
• People that teach falsely about the Bible tell you that EVERYONE is your neighbor.
• Those people are the ones who want you to love everyone no matter what because everyone is your neighbor they say.

Churches are teaching people to love everyone no matter what.

• They want you love people who HATE the Lord God Almighty.
• They want you to forgive everyone no matter what they do.
• That’s what they’re teaching in Churches all around here and throughout this entire world.
• And guess what? That’s not what the Bible teaches.

Do you forgive and love people who HATE GOD? Is that loving to do so?

• If you follow the world and false church definition of love, then YES, that’s loving to do so.
• But TRUE GODLY love doesn’t tell you to love people who HATE GOD.
• We do NOT love violent, wicked, and evil people.
• We don’t love and support pedophiles, murderers, and child molesters.
• We don’t love people who HATE GOD and change His words into something they aren’t.
• You see: the world is changing the definition of love slowly. It’s working.
• We’re supposed to love homosexuals, transgender, murderers, and now it’s moving to pedophiles.
• We’re supposed to be easy on them because they have it tough.

Presidential candidates want to put legal drug injection sites up all around the country because it’s not the fault of the drug users.

• They say: “The government failed you. You didn’t fail.”
• And now they want to give them more drugs. Is that loving?
• It sure gets them votes from all the drug users because drug users are the majority in this country now.
• It’s really sickening. It’s okay to be a drug dealer and a drug user. Everything is okay.

And if you say anything against any of it, then you’re the HATEFUL one according to the world.

• We’re supposed to just accept anything and everything because that’s love.
• If we say “HE OR SHE” now, that’s hateful to people who can’t make up their mind what they want to be.
• They won’t accept what God made them to be because they HATE GOD.

Are those people your neighbors? I’ll tell you what. They aren’t my neighbors.

• I will not show compassion and worldly love to those people.
• I will show GODLY LOVE towards them by preaching against their nasty, vile, and sick minds.
• That’s love. We do not agree with evil and darkness. Does God? No, He hates it.
• He doesn’t say it’s okay to be sick, nasty, and vile. He says: “YOU’RE AN ABOMINATION.”
• That means God extremely HATES you when He calls you an abomination. It’s that simple.

[20] Deuteronomy 7:26 Neither shalt thou bring an abomination into thine house, lest thou be a cursed thing like it: but thou shalt utterly detest it, and thou shalt utterly abhor it; for it is a cursed thing.

• Do you see that?
• God doesn’t say go find all these nasty people and tell them you love them and bring them to Church or into your home.
• We don’t want child molesters around here. We want to stay away from them. We don’t want them here.
• They are an abomination and to be hated just as God hates them. We don’t want false gods around here.
• They are an abomination to God. This is GODLY LOVE.

Let’s think back to the story we just read from Luke Chapter 10.

• Do you remember the thieves that beat the man half to death?
• Did Jesus say being a good neighbor is tracking those thieves down and telling them you love them and taking care of them and giving them more money?
• Did Jesus say those thieves have had a tough life so go give them all your money? Love them.
• Is that what Jesus said?

Where in the Bible does Jesus ever say this? He doesn’t.

• He also doesn’t say to go track those thieves down and kill them or hurt them.
• The job of the authorities is to find them and lock them up and punish them.
• It’s not our job to repay evil with evil. Forget about them and help the ones who are hurt and need help.
• We can be kind and help others in need. That’s what Jesus says.

He doesn’t say go find evil and wicked people and buy them lunch and invite them to Church.

• We’ll preach and teach the Gospel. The wicked and evil people won’t listen. Warn them.
• If no one listens, that should tell you about this area.
• When you start reading the Bible to someone and they just don’t want to hear it, why is that? It’s because they’re evil. They can’t stand the word of God. Look, we don’t want evil and wickedness in God’s Church.

Thieves And Violent People Shouldn’t Be Rewarded

If we followed the world’s example, Jesus would have told us to go buy the thieves a hotel room and make sure they had plenty of food and make sure they know you love them.

• Did Jesus say that? Did Jesus tell us to go tell the thieves that we still love them no matter what?
• “It’s okay that you stole from this man and beat this man. We know you have a good excuse.”
• NO!!! The Bible says there is no excuse for stealing and beating someone half to death.
• There is no excuse. If you love your neighbor as yourself, do you know what that means?
• You would want the authorities to find those thieves and punish them as the Bible says.
• Following God’s commandments is love.

[21] 1 John 5:3 For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.

• Keeping God’s commandments is love. Jesus says to love thy neighbor as thyself.
• Do we want to award wickedness? Is that loving your neighbor?
• If we reward and love the thieves and murderers of this world, is that good for our neighbors?
• That just leads to more evil and wickedness. That’s not good for anyone. Do you see this?

God commanded us to not lie, cheat, steal, and murder because that harms our fellow human beings.

• He commanded us not to be SODOMITES because this is harming our fellow human beings.
• It leads to more and more vile and nasty things. It does.
• He commanded us not to covet someone else’s wife because that harms our fellow human beings.
• If we accept all of these things and LOVE all these things, GOD SAYS YOU DO NOT LOVE!!!

Loving your neighbor as yourself does not include accepting all evil and wickedness into your life.

• Loving your neighbor as yourself is getting rid of all wickedness from your life.
• Do you love yourself if you love wicked things? Do you love yourself if you do evil deeds all the time?
• Is that loving yourself? No, that’s hating yourself. If you hate God, you cannot love God says.
• This world today is filled with hate because the Bible definition of love is the opposite of what the world tells you.

Open your eyes and see this. The world HATES. They don’t love God at all. They hate Him.

• Don’t make friends with the world. Don’t make friends with evil and wicked people.
• It will NEVER turn out good for you. EVER.
• If you truly love children like Jesus does, wouldn’t you want some sick and nasty predator off the street?
• Wouldn’t you want that person put to death like the Bible says should happen?
• But you might say: “Well, Jesus taught love and forgiveness.” Did He? Show me. Here’s what I see:

[22] Luke 17:2 It were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he cast into the sea, than that he should offend one of these little ones.

• Imagine a millstone that weighs as much as your car being tied around the neck of these nasty predators and being launched into the sea.
• That’s what Jesus recommends. But He doesn’t stop there.
• He says it’s better for that to happen to them BECAUSE He’s going to do much worse.
• And notice, GOD is going to be the one doing much worse to those people. It’s not us.
• That takes us to the next point about loving thy neighbor as thyself.

Do Not Repay Evil With Evil

Look, we do NOT repay anyone with evil ourselves.

• The government and authorities are to handle punishments in this life.
• Beyond that, God gives punishment in this life as well.
• If we don’t have laws and punishments, what do you think would happen?
• All of this is modeled after the laws in the Bible, but the governments don’t follow the law as written in the Bible.
• If they did, there would be a lot less evil in this world.
• I, myself, wouldn’t have done some of the horrible things that I’ve done if I knew I was going to put to death.
• Have I always obeyed my Father and Mother? No, I haven’t.
• And I know you haven’t either so don’t look at me like that. Just kidding.

[23] Deuteronomy 21:18-21 If a man have a stubborn and rebellious son, which will not obey the voice of his father, or the voice of his mother, and that, when they have chastened him, will not hearken unto them: 19 Then shall his father and his mother lay hold on him, and bring him out unto the elders of his city, and unto the gate of his place; 20 And they shall say unto the elders of his city, This our son is stubborn and rebellious, he will not obey our voice; he is a glutton, and a drunkard. 21 And all the men of his city shall stone him with stones, that he die: so shalt thou put evil away from among you; and all Israel shall hear, and fear.

• This makes me thankful that I’m still living right now.
• I should have been put to death because I’ve broken many of God’s laws.
• But He’s shown me mercy and forgiveness and kindness so I’m here right now.
• I don’t deserve to live, but Jesus Christ has saved me.

One day, this same RULE AND LAW will come by the hands of Jesus Christ HIMSELF.

• He will rule here and those laws will be followed.
• Again, the government and authorities in your land will set the penalty for breaking law.
• If we didn’t have those laws, there would be pure chaos because there’s more evil people than good people.
• You can count on that. People would begin to repay with evil if there were no laws.
• Laws keep order and control over wickedness and evil. Do you see that?
• Think about what this state would be like without laws.

It’s getting worse and worse because laws aren’t being enforced any more.

• They’ll say we don’t have room in jails for everyone who does drugs so just go ahead and do your drugs.
• It’s okay. That’s where we’re going today.
• And I truly feel bad for my children and their future with lawlessness.
• I feel bad because our generations are failing our children. We don’t stand up for anything.
• We allow crime, drugs, and lawlessness everywhere.

It’s the fault of the police when they tell someone to put their hands up in the dark at night and they’re so intoxicated or high that they don’t listen.

• They go to grab something out of their pocket and get shot by the police.
• They couldn’t do what the police asks and the police are put at danger, but then the world puts all the BLAME on the police for trying to keep order and law.
• This is sad that most of this country doesn’t want law any more.
• They want it to be a free for all and everyone can just do whatever they want.

Take this Bible and all the laws within this Book. God’s law is PERFECT.

• If we followed His law perfectly, we would have an amazing country. Do you realize that?
• We could have an absolutely amazing country and all the laws we need are right here in this BIBLE.
• But what do we have instead?
• We have a country that is going further and further from the laws within this book.
• Do you know what’s happening as we get further from this BIBLE?
• It’s getting worse and worse while the idiots in this country say we’re progressive and getting better.
• Wrong. It’s sickening.

But listen to this verse.

[24] Genesis 44:4 And when they were gone out of the city, and not yet far off, Joseph said unto his steward, Up, follow after the men; and when thou dost overtake them, say unto them, Wherefore have ye rewarded evil for good?

• Have you ever done good for someone and they repay you with evil?
• Think of the people who stand on the side of the road asking for money and acting like they don’t have any money for food.
• They are deceiving people and doing evil to people who are trying to do good.
• Here’s a true story that happened recently.

Watch Out For People Who Prey On Your Emotions Including Churches

A woman would stand on the side of the road with a young child while she was also pregnant and people would hand her money and never even think about it.

• One woman decided to watch her because she would see her all around town.
• She was raking in the money.
• She watched her climb into a Mercedes, drive off, and followed her to where she lives.
• She lives in a $2,500 per month apartment.
• That’s called re-paying good with evil. You’ve probably gotten that around here before.
• Women with babies work very well, and people know that.

[25] Psalm 38:19-20 But mine enemies are lively, and they are strong: and they that hate me wrongfully are multiplied. 20 They also that render evil for good are mine adversaries; because I follow the thing that good is.

• People who re-pay good with evil are definitely wicked people. They are God’s enemies.
• If they are enemies of God, count them as your enemies.
• You love them with GODLY LOVE which means rebuking them if needed.
• You simply tell them the truth because the truth is loving.

You wouldn’t send someone like me to stand out on the side of the road and beg for money.

• A homeless man in New York City about my build and age gets food dumped on his head when he asks for food or money.
• They say: “Hey, go get a job. You want some food. Here’s some,” as they’re throwing it on the guy.
• That’s called re-paying evil with evil.
• There’s nothing wrong with the man that decided he’s going to be homeless.
• They talked with him. Nothing was wrong with him.
• He just decided he would rather sit there and beg than get a job.
• He thinks he can make more money begging so that’s what he’ll do. That’s evil.

You shouldn’t want something constantly for doing nothing.

• That’s not helping others. That’s not contributing to others. That’s hating others.
• It’s evil to be homeless when you don’t have to be. In this country, you don’t have to be homeless.

[26] Proverbs 17:13 Whoso rewardeth evil for good, evil shall not depart from his house.

• God says, I will repay. Look, we NEVER repay evil with evil.
• And definitely never repay someone who does good for you with evil.
• For example, don’t lie to someone to get something good out of it. This is truly wicked.
• God will take care of the wicked people in this world. We DO NOT EVER repay evil with evil.
• If someone wrongs YOU, forgive them and get on with serving God. Don’t let them slow you down.
• Serve God. Focus on God. Forget about that and keep on moving.
• I love this next passage. Let’s listen closely to this so we understand it and follow it.

[27] Romans 12:17-21 Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men. 18 If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men. 19 Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord. 20 Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head. 21 Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.

• We aren’t to make friends with the world. We aren’t to love their ways and join in with their ways.
• That wouldn’t be following God’s commandments, and it wouldn’t be loving to give them confirmation that what they’re doing is okay.
• And that’s a lie and that’s evil. That’s repaying evil with evil.

If you just agree with anyone in their lies and wicked ways, then you’re adding more evil.

• If you need to speak the truth in any given situation, we must speak the truth.
• Notice what verse 17 says there. It says to provide things honest in the sight of all men.
• Always be honest in the sight of God and men. This is GODLY LOVE.
• Don’t give anyone a bad impression of you.
• You don’t want people to think you condone of things that you don’t.

For example, a Church leader shouldn’t be doing counseling with a woman inside the church and lock themselves in a room for a few hours.

• That’s doesn’t look honest at all. Right? It doesn’t.
• Verse 18 says “IF IT BE POSSIBLE, LIVE PEACABLY WITH ALL MEN.”
• This means we don’t create the problems and the arguments and the issues.
• If someone is speaking against the truth, they are creating the issue.
• The Bible will create the issues because it’s the truth.

[28] Psalm 120:7 I am for peace: but when I speak, they are for war.

• King David says: “I AM FOR PEACE. BUT WHEN I SPEAK, THEY ARE FOR WAR.”
• That’s what’s going to happen. When you speak the truth, there will be problems. But guess what?
• You’re doing your best to live in peace but also speak the truth.
• We don’t compromise the truth because it disrupts peace.
• We also don’t go after others in protest and cause more issues. We don’t go looking for problems.

We don’t pay evil for evil. If we do evil, we can be overcome by evil. Not doing evil is called loving your neighbor.

• Lying to someone about the Bible is evil.
• Not telling someone the truth when you know you have the chance is evil. Never repay with evil.
• God takes care of re-paying evil.
• The Bible says, “If YOUR enemy is hungry, give him food. If YOUR enemy is thirsty, give him drink.”
• God says this will heap coals of fire on his head. This is the New Testament; the Book of Romans.
• The Gospels say the same thing.

[29] Matthew 5:44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;

[30] Luke 6:27 But I say unto you which hear, Love your enemies, do good to them which hate you,

[31] Luke 6:35 But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil.

• But listen, the Old Testament says the same thing.
• The Old Testament always agrees with the New Testament.
• The Old Testament doesn’t say to HATE YOUR ENEMIES. It says to HATE GOD’S ENEMIES.
• If your enemy is an enemy of God and HATES GOD, we’re to hate them as well.
• That doesn’t mean we repay them with evil. This means we stay away from them if at all possible.

Most of the time, we won’t know if people we talk to HATE GOD so we’re to love people, be kind to them, tell them the truth, and give them the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

• This is GODLY LOVE. If they’re hungry, give them food. If they’re thirsty, give them drink.
• If they need prayer, give them prayer.
• Here’s what the Old Testament says:

[32] Exodus 23:4-5 If thou meet thine enemy’s ox or his ass going astray, thou shalt surely bring it back to him again. 5 If thou see the ass of him that hateth thee lying under his burden, and wouldest forbear to help him, thou shalt surely help with him.

• Evil would be taking the ox and putting it in your field. That’s theft.
• Evil would be allowing the ox to run away when you could have stopped it and given it back.
• This simply makes things worse. It doesn’t lead to good.

[33] Proverbs 25:21-22 If thine enemy be hungry, give him bread to eat; and if he be thirsty, give him water to drink: 22 For thou shalt heap coals of fire upon his head, and the LORD shall reward thee.

• Does that verse right there from Proverbs sound familiar? It says the same thing in Romans.
• The Old Testament and New Testament always agree. There is no contradiction ANYWHERE.
• Don’t fall for people that tell you the New Testament says to love everyone and accept every evil and wicked way.
• They’ll just repeat: “LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR. LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR. LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR.”

What that really means is to not judge anything that anyone does. Just let it all be accepted.

• And that’s where our world is going. All of the evil and wicked ways are becoming acceptable to everyone.
• And they use LOVE as their reason. And it’s sad because they don’t know what love is.
• Love is doing what God asks us to do.
• If we do those things that He commands us, we will automatically show love to our fellow human beings.
• A murderer should be put to death. You might say: “We should forgive and just let him/her go.”
• No, that’s not loving because God commands that murderer be put to death by the authorities.
• This prevents that murderer from hurting anyone else. That’s love.

[34] Leviticus 24:17 And he that killeth any man shall surely be put to death.

• If we don’t follow God’s commandments, that’s not love.
• Again, these are the rules for the authorities to follow and not us as individuals.
• If we allow everything that breaks God’s commandments, this is not loving our neighbors as ourselves.

Do you want someone to murder your family? You don’t want that for yourself.

• Why would you want that for someone else?
• Truly wicked people should be punished by the authorities according to the Bible.
• And yes, people in today’s “PROGRESSIVE AND MODERN” world will think we’re crazy for saying that BUT God’s rules ALWAYS turn out for the best.
• If we followed His rules, this world would be perfect. But we don’t even try to get close.

Conclusion To Love Thy Neighbor As Thyself

• To close out today, I hope you see the truth in the Bible about loving your neighbor.
• This is someone in need who is close to you.
• If you go out soul winning and you see someone in need, you should help them the best you can.
• This is called loving your neighbor.

When you go out Soul Winning and you see someone doing evil, the world would tell you to join in on that evil and show them that it’s okay to be evil and do evil.

• If they’re doing drugs, ask for some. That would show them true love the world would say.
• They would say that’s loving.
• No, you see, you simply get away from the evil.
• If you’re talking with them and they ask your opinion on their fornication, you love them by telling them the truth in the Bible.
• This isn’t hate.

If you go Soul Winning, and you’re talking to ANYONE, you simply give them the Gospel of Jesus Christ and pray that they hear you.

• If not, you gave it your best.
• Hopefully, they’ll get another chance in their life to hear the Gospel and be saved.
• Make sure you know and memorize this verse.

[35] Romans 12:9 Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good.

• This says: “Don’t have fake love.” Don’t let your love be fake.
• True Godly love is greatly hating that which is evil.
• Evil should disgust you and make you sick to your stomach. When you sin, you should hate it.
• When you see others sinning, you hate it. You shouldn’t want to be around evil.
• Instead, this verse tells us to CLEAVE to that which is good.
• Cleave means to STICK TO IT. Adhere to the good. Be attached to good at all times.
• This means to walk in the Spirit and not in the flesh. Let God direct your paths.
• How will you know the direction you need to take?

[36] Psalm 119:105 Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.

[37] 2 Thessalonians 3:5 And the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God, and into the patient waiting for Christ.

• Let the Word of God direct your path. Read the Bible. Allow Jesus to direct your path.
• Love your neighbor as yourself. Now you know what that means.
