[2] The title of the sermon: “KEEPERS AT HOME.”
Women Should Be Keepers At Home???
- I want to go over the Scriptures today about women being keepers at home.
- I want to make this very clear so we all understand exactly what this means.
- Let’s read and study the Scriptures today because I don’t want to get this wrong.
- With the Scriptures, we can know that have the truth and we will not be confused.
[3] Titus 2:1-3 But speak thou the things which become sound doctrine: 2 That the aged men be sober, grave, temperate, sound in faith, in charity, in patience. 3 The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things;
[4] Titus 2:4-5 That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, 5 To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.
- The aged women are to teach the young women to be sober and to love their husbands.
- And to love their children. How does a wife love her husband and children?
- To understand this, you must know what love is. And what is love?
- Love is following the commandments of God.
- A wife loves her husband and children by following God’s commandments.
- “And this is love, that we walk after His commandments.”
Now, would you call the Scriptures right there commandments from God to women?
- Young women are to be sober, love their husbands, love their children.
- Be discreet or prudent and wise. What is wisdom?
- Hearing good teaching from God’s words and following His words. That would be discrete.
- Chaste is pure and genuine. Undefiled. KEEPERS AT HOME. Good. Obedient to their own husbands.
- That is what the Scriptures mean right there.
So, I want to focus on the part of the Scripture that says:
- “Keepers at home.” Where is this Scripture located? TITUS. 56th book of the Bible out of 66 total books.
- This is the New Testament. This is valid for all the women here who have children.
- Young women doing all of these things ensures the word of God is not blasphemed.
When we profess to be Christians but we won’t follow His words, the word of God may be blasphemed.
- Many people call themselves Christians, but they will not follow the words of Jesus Christ.
- For example, some people don’t want to hear the words of the Bible. They get angry with you.
- When you try to show them the actual Scriptures, they get angry and won’t listen.
- For example, a friend of mine tells me that a family member who professes to be “Christian” tells him that he reads the Bible too much.
- People who profess to be Christians but won’t listen to the Bible will blaspheme the word of God.
So, when we see a clear commandment within the Bible, we need to make changes and follow His words.
- That’s what I’ve had to do in my life. Now when we know the word of God, we must follow it.
- Now, here’s something you need to know about the Bible.
- God gives us very clear commandments in the Bible.
- We must take the very clear Scriptures and apply those.
For example, this is a very clear commandment that God wants young women to be keepers at home.
- Make sure you see this. It’s very clear. KEEPERS AT HOME.
- We can’t take other Scriptures and attempt to add to those to make them contradict with this Scripture.
- Let me show you an example of what I mean with regards to salvation. Salvation in the Bible is very clear.
[5] John 6:47 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.
- This Scripture stands alone and the entire Bible teaches this same fact.
- That is a VERY CLEAR SCRIPTURE within the Bible. Very easy to understand.
- In order to receive everlasting life, you must go through Jesus Christ alone.
- You must BELIEVE ON HIM to be saved and that’s it.
- Believing on Him means that you trust in Him 100% and don’t need anything else for salvation.
[6] Acts 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.
- There is salvation only in Jesus Christ. That’s it. You simply must believe on Him to receive everlasting life.
[7] Romans 3:28 Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.
- Works are not required. FAITH in Jesus Christ alone saves you and gives you everlasting life.
- Now, once you believe on Jesus Christ, you HAVE everlasting life. The Scriptures clearly teach this.
- Jesus wouldn’t promise everlasting life once you believe on Him and then take it away.
- Let me show you how clear this is within the Bible.
[8] 1 John 5:13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.
- Once you believe on Jesus Christ, YOU MAY KNOW THAT YOU HAVE ETERNAL LIFE.
- Is that not very clear Scripture? It is definitely very clear and easy to understand.
Do Not Take Clear Scripture And Twist It
Now, you wouldn’t take a Scripture and attempt to make it say that you can lose everlasting life.
- That wouldn’t make any sense now would it? If you have everlasting life, you can’t lose it.
- If you think a Scripture says that you can lose everlasting life, you would be wrong.
- If you could lose everlasting life, then God wouldn’t call it EVER LASTING.
Now, let’s look at Scripture that people will attempt to twist to teach you can lose everlasting life.
- We go to Hebrews Chapter 6. But first I want to show you the end of Hebrews Chapter 5.
- Keep in mind that chapter divisions were put there by man. Please hear this today.
- And remember that I’m showing you an example of twisting Scriptures.
- We take clear Scriptures as they are. No other Scriptures will contradict those clear Scriptures.
[9] Hebrews 5:12-13 For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat. 13 For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe.
[10] Hebrews 5:14 But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.
- That’s the end of Hebrews Chapter 5.
- The Bible teaches us in Hebrews Chapter 1 through 5 that we are saved through Jesus Christ.
- This is simple and easy to understand. The Bible is very clear on this throughout.
- Salvation only comes through Jesus Christ. And this is the simplest doctrine to understand in the Bible.
- If you can’t understand that salvation is only in Jesus Christ, then you won’t understand ANY of the Bible.
- This is called milk for the baby. Babes in Christ are those who have just been saved.
- They understand that salvation is in Jesus Christ alone and that they must believe on Jesus Christ.
Hebrews Chapter 6 is going to move on to the strong meat and not just the milk of the word for babes in Christ.
- This means we wouldn’t take the strong meat, which is more difficult to understand and twist it to contradict the milk of the word.
- Ye may know that ye have eternal life and that ye may believe on Jesus Christ.
- You wouldn’t take Hebrews Chapter 6, which is more difficult Scripture and twist it to contradict very easy and clear Scripture.
[11] Hebrews 6:1-3 Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God, 2 Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment. 3 And this will we do, if God permit.
- Do you see how the Bible is teaching you that we are leaving the simple stuff now.
- We are leaving the milk of the word and moving onto the strong meat of the word.
- People who can’t understand the milk of the word won’t understand the next Scriptures.
- The false preachers who can’t understand the milk won’t understand this.
- Do you know what they do? They take the next Scriptures and attempt to twist them.
- They attempt to use the next Scriptures to teach that you can lose everlasting life. Makes no sense.
[12] Hebrews 6:4-6 For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost, 5 And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come, 6 If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.
- They will take that Scripture right there and attempt to make it say something it doesn’t.
- They will read that and say, “SEE!!! I told you that you can lose everlasting life!!!”
- Is that what that says? NO WAY. That’s just stupid and ignorant to think that it does.
- Let me show you how easy this is to understand.
- God gives us this understanding and this is what the Scriptures say exactly.
“For it is impossible for those who were ONCE enlightened.” What does enlightened mean?
- Think of a light bulb going off in your head. These are the people who understand the Gospel.
- You can give them the Gospel of Jesus Christ and ask them if they understand.
- A light bulb goes off in their head, and they say: “Yes, I understand what you’re saying.”
- “You’re saying that all I have to do to be saved is to believe on Jesus Christ alone.”
- “Jesus is the Savior of the world, and He is the one who can save me.”
- “Yes, I understand what you’re saying. That makes perfect sense now.”
It Is Impossible To Be Saved Now
And then you ask them: “Now, do you believe on Jesus Christ?” And what do they say?
- They say: “No, I’m not ready to do that. I understand what you mean, but I don’t believe on Jesus.”
- You explained that they can receive everlasting life. They have been enlightened.
- They have tasted of the heavenly gift. They were made partakers of the Holy Ghost.
- When someone is about to be saved, do you know whose there convincing them?
- The Holy Ghost is there. The Holy Ghost works in unsaved people to get them saved.
- For example, I wouldn’t be saved right now if it weren’t for the Holy Ghost coming to me.
- I was made a partaker of the Holy Ghost when I wasn’t yet saved. He guided me.
- He gave me the ability to be enlightened and to understand that salvation is only in Jesus Christ.
These people being talked about in Hebrews Chapter 6 are given that same understanding.
- They have tasted of the good word of God and the powers of the world to come. They understand.
- God has drawn them closer and closer to being saved. All they have to do is change their mind.
- Repentance for salvation is very, very close. It’s so close they can taste it.
- All they have to do is change their mind and believe. Then they would be saved.
- But they just won’t do it. God has drawn them. God has held out His hand.
- And they reject God one final time. They came so close but they fall away one final time.
- For it is impossible now to get them back to this point of being saved. That was their last chance.
- God did His best to draw these people to Him to be saved and they reject Him one final time.
- Watch what the next verses say.
[13] Hebrews 6:7-8 For the earth which drinketh in the rain that cometh oft upon it, and bringeth forth herbs meet for them by whom it is dressed, receiveth blessing from God: 8 But that which beareth thorns and briers is rejected, and is nigh unto cursing; whose end is to be burned.
- These people will never be saved now. Verse 8 tells us they are rejected and their end is to be burned.
- Hebrews Chapter 6 says absolutely nothing about a saved person losing everlasting life. NOTHING.
- But false preachers attempt to twist the words of the Bible to say this.
- Again, we don’t take very clear Scripture and then attempt to add to it, twist it, or take away from it.
- Proverbs Chapter 1 matches Hebrews Chapter 6 perfectly. Let me show you this.
[14] Proverbs 1:22-23 How long, ye simple ones, will ye love simplicity? and the scorners delight in their scorning, and fools hate knowledge? 23 Turn you at my reproof: behold, I will pour out my spirit unto you, I will make known my words unto you.
- God will make His words known to these people just like He did in Hebrews Chapter 6.
[15] Proverbs 1:24-26 Because I have called, and ye refused; I have stretched out my hand, and no man regarded; 25 But ye have set at nought all my counsel, and would none of my reproof: 26 I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your fear cometh;
[16] Proverbs 1:27-29 When your fear cometh as desolation, and your destruction cometh as a whirlwind; when distress and anguish cometh upon you. 28 Then shall they call upon me, but I will not answer; they shall seek me early, but they shall not find me: 29 For that they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of the LORD:
[17] Proverbs 1:30-32 They would none of my counsel: they despised all my reproof. 31 Therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own devices. 32 For the turning away of the simple shall slay them, and the prosperity of fools shall destroy them.
- God says that He will not hear them any more. They can call for Him and He will not answer.
- In other words, they are rejected just like the people in Hebrews Chapter 6.
- They were never saved so they couldn’t lose salvation. They never had everlasting life to lose.
- Now, that’s a quick example of taking clear Scripture and using something else in the Bible to twist it.
- So, let’s look at Titus Chapter 2 once again and continue from there.
[18] Titus 2:4-5 That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, 5 To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.
- Again, this is very clear Scripture for young women with children to be keepers at home.
- This is the job that God gave them. This is the job these young women must do.
- When they do this, God will bless them.
- When their husbands lead the home according to God’s words, God will bless them.
If a husband isn’t allowing his wife to keep the home and take care of the children, the husband is at fault.
- I did this several years ago and it was a big mistake.
- I was going against God’s words and making my wife work. She wanted to be a keeper at home.
- She wanted to be with her children all day long teaching them at home. And I was stopping her.
- So she prayed with all that she had, and it worked. God opened my eyes, and I made the change.
- And it’s been better than ever. We didn’t lose anything. God blessed us and gave us more.
- When we align with God’s words, God blesses and shows us His ways are far greater than our ways.
- Titus Chapter 2 isn’t the only Scripture that teaches young women to be keepers at home.
[19] 1 Timothy 5:14 I will therefore that the younger women marry, bear children, guide the house, give none occasion to the adversary to speak reproachfully.
- Marry, bear children, GUIDE THE HOUSE. Do these things so you don’t blaspheme the word of God.
- “Give none occasion to the adversary to speak reproachfully.”
- For example, many women out there today call themselves “Christians.”
- False preachers encourage them to have a career and send their children to day care, pre school, and public schools.
- Any mother who loves her new born baby will HATE sending that child to day care. Think about that.
- Any mother who loves her baby will HATE leaving her baby with someone else.
- But this world and trashy churches will teach them they should have a career.
How Can You Be A Keeper At Home If You Aren’t At Home?
Let’s be clear. You can’t be a keeper at home and guide the house when you’re not there.
- You can’t guide a house when your children are with someone else.
- You can’t guide a house if you are never there to guide the house.
- The Bible NEVER once commands a young woman with children to go have a career.
- Her job is to be a keeper at home, teach her children, love her children, and guide her house.
- This is the truth. And there’s absolutely NOTHING in the Bible that will contradict this.
So, we don’t go through the Bible and attempt to twist Scripture to find something that would contradict this.
- False preachers do this and then try to teach it to people all over the Internet and in their books.
- This is why we must not fall for any of this trash. The Bible is very clear.
- Young women are keepers at home. They guide the house. They take care of the children.
- Public school is not in the Bible. God knew there would be public school. He didn’t mention it.
- He didn’t mention private school. He didn’t mention Bible college or Seminary either.
- He didn’t command you to send your children off to college.
He didn’t command you to give up everything and save every penny to send your children to a liberal college who
hates Him.
- But that’s what the world teaches you. Don’t they? We must not be deceived by this world.
- We have to wake up and see the very clear teaching within the Bible.
- As a Godly mother with children, deep down, what do you really want to do?
- If you love God and your children, I know that you want to be at home with your children.
- God put this into you. He built this urge to care for your children and to love your children.
As a Godly father with children, deep down, who do you want taking care of the children you love?
- I will always choose my wife to take care of my children all day long while I am working.
- There is no better option. Why is that? Because my wife loves our children with everything that she has.
- God put this GREAT DESIRE into the women He created to give their children all the love they can.
- God did that. Don’t fight it. Husbands, allow your wives to do the job that God gave them.
- Do you want Jesus Christ asking you why you didn’t allow that when you get to heaven?
- Do you want Him to look you in the eyes and say: “Why did you make your wife go out and work?”
- “Why didn’t you allow her to do the job that I gave her? You went against me and my words.”
- Let me tell you right now. You don’t want to hear that from Jesus Christ. That’s a scary moment.
[20] Proverbs 14:1 Every wise woman buildeth her house: but the foolish plucketh it down with her hands.
- Every wise woman will build her house. This is talking about guiding the house.
- Whose in the house? THE CHILDREN. They are of great, great importance to God Almighty.
- He gave these amazing blessings of children to all of us to care for.
- These are actually His children, and He’s allowing us the amazing opportunity to good to them.
- We love our children when we follow God’s commandments. When we don’t, we are hating our children.
- And yes, this is the truth. You might not like it or want to hear it, but I’m going to tell you anyway.
- That’s my job here, and I’m going to do it the best I can.
[21] Proverbs 31:27-28 She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness. 28 Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her.
- Do you see all the Scriptures that teach the woman should be watching her household very closely?
- This is a job given to you by God to be a keeper at home. Not a keeper at work.
- Not a keeper at your career. A virtuous woman looketh well to the ways of her household.
- Her children arise up and call her blessed. Her husband also. A Godly husband wants his wife to do well.
- A Godly husband praises his wife for taking care of their children.
Don’t Miss Your Children Growing Up
Women, you don’t want to miss your children growing up.
- They are with you now, and it’s your God given job to care for them until they are married.
- Once day they will be gone, and you don’t want to miss doing that job that God gave you.
- Your children will rise up and call you blessed when you do the job God gave you to do.
- When you do that job and your husband does His job, God will take care of you.
- You can try to do everything your way, and I promise you that it will not turn out well.
- God’s way will always turn out infinite times better than your way.
[22] Genesis 18:9 And they said unto him, Where is Sarah thy wife? And he said, Behold, in the tent.
- Sarah is considered to be a holy woman. She called her husband lord. She obeyed her husband.
- She was available to help him when he needed it. SHE WAS AT HOME.
Jesus asked Abraham that question.
- He already knew the answer to the question, but He asked it so you can see the answer.
- “Where is Sarah thy wife?” If your husband is asked that question, what will be the answer?
- Will you be at home taking care of the children and teaching them good things?
- Or will you be out somewhere and your children aren’t with you? What are your children doing?
- Are you always with your children or not? Did you know the Bible teaches that you should be?
[23] Deuteronomy 22:13-14 If any man take a wife, and go in unto her, and hate her, 14 And give occasions of speech against her, and bring up an evil name upon her, and say, I took this woman, and when I came to her, I found her not a maid:
- This is God’s law. He made it. Do you believe that or not? This is His law that He wrote.
- A man takes your daughter to wife. He finds her not a maid or not a virgin.
- Watch what the next verse says.
[24] Deuteronomy 22:15-16 Then shall the father of the damsel, and her mother, take and bring forth the tokens of the damsel’s virginity unto the elders of the city in the gate: 16 And the damsel’s father shall say unto the elders, I gave my daughter unto this man to wife, and he hateth her;
[25] Deuteronomy 22:17-18 And, lo, he hath given occasions of speech against her, saying, I found not thy daughter a maid; and yet these are the tokens of my daughter’s virginity. And they shall spread the cloth before the elders of the city. 18 And the elders of that city shall take that man and chastise him;
- As a father and mother, it’s your responsibility to make sure your daughter stays a virgin.
- How would you do that? How would you know that? You teach her to fear God.
- You stay with her at all times. You know where she is at all times. This is your job.
- If you don’t think so, please pay close attention to the Bible when you read it through.
[26] Proverbs 29:15 The rod and reproof give wisdom: but a child left to himself bringeth his mother to shame.
- Every verse in the Book of Proverbs is filled with wisdom.
- If you leave your children alone, that child will bring the mother to shame.
- Why is the mother being brought to shame? Because it is the mother’s job to be with her children.
- Do you see this? Do you understand this? Women, you must do your job God gave you.
- Men, you must allow your wife to do her job. She will do a good job.
[27] Proverbs 10:5 He that gathereth in summer is a wise son: but he that sleepeth in harvest is a son that causeth shame.
- We must teach our children to work hard. The mother must be a teacher of good things.
- Teach them. Put your daughters to work at home. Show them how to be keepers at home.
- If you don’t show them, how will they know what to do? Teach them to not be lazy.
Now, I think you’ve seen enough within God’s perfect word that commands women to be keepers at home.
- What Scriptures will some people attempt to twist to say that women shouldn’t be keepers at home?
- You have to be very careful. Let’s look closely at these Scriptures. Don’t allow something to trick you.
[28] 1 Timothy 2:13-14 For Adam was first formed, then Eve. 14 And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression.
- Husbands, it is your job to make sure you and your wife aren’t being deceived. You are her leader.
- Step it up and lead through the word of God. And my job is to teach and make sure you understand.
- If you have questions, please ask them. We will study the Scriptures together here in church just like this.
- When you have questions, I will answer them clearly and completely using the Scriptures.
So, let’s look at some examples of women in the Bible who preachers might attempt to use to trick you.
- We’ll look at Deborah and Priscilla as the two examples.
- And remember, we’ve already seen clear Scripture with clear commands for women to be keepers at home.
- Right? You saw the Scriptures. They are very clear.
- We go to Deborah first in the Book of Judges. Deborah shows up in Judges Chapter 4 and 5.
- She’s only in 2 chapters of the Bible so it doesn’t take long to study everything about her.
[29] Judges 4:4-5 And Deborah, a prophetess, the wife of Lapidoth, she judged Israel at that time. 5 And she dwelt under the palm tree of Deborah between Ramah and Beth-el in mount Ephraim: and the children of Israel came up to her for judgment.
- Deborah is a prophetess and a judge of Israel. What is a prophetess? She preaches God’s word.
- Did you know every woman who attends this church should be a prophetess?
- You do not preach God’s word in church, but outside of church you should be telling everyone about Jesus Christ.
Prophetess = Preacher Of God’s Word (Not A Pastor)
- This would make you a prophetess. You should give the Gospel to people.
- God gave Deborah the job of being a judge over Israel.
- Did God stop Deborah from taking care of her home and guiding her home?
- Notice that verse 5 says, “the children of Israel came up to her for judgement.” They came to her.
- The Bible doesn’t say she went out everywhere else and was away from her home all the time.
[30] Judges 4:8-9 And Barak said unto her, If thou wilt go with me, then I will go: but if thou wilt not go with me, then I will not go. 9 And she said, I will surely go with thee: notwithstanding the journey that thou takest shall not be for thine honour; for the LORD shall sell Sisera into the hand of a woman. And Deborah arose, and went with Barak to Kedesh.
- Deborah got up, left her home, and helped Barak. The Bible never says that Deborah had children.
- So, we don’t attempt to use Deborah as an example of women leaving the home and having a career.
- Is it okay for a wife to help her husband outside of the home at times when he needs some help?
- Yes it is. But, the children must be taught good things, taken care of, and guided.
- Did Deborah get up and leave her children at home all on their own here? The Bible doesn’t say that.
- Did you know that you can have a home based business, take care of your children, and help your husband by working at home?
- This wouldn’t be breaking God’s law unless you allow that home based business to stop you from taking care of your children and guiding the home.
[31] Proverbs 31:10-13 Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies. 11 The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil. 12 She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life. 13 She seeketh wool, and flax, and worketh willingly with her hands.
- Notice that this doesn’t contradict anything else we’ve learned. A virtuous woman will work hard.
[32] Proverbs 31:14-16 She is like the merchants’ ships; she bringeth her food from afar. 15 She riseth also while it is yet night, and giveth meat to her household, and a portion to her maidens. 16 She considereth a field, and buyeth it: with the fruit of her hands she planteth a vineyard.
- She goes and gets food for her house. She doesn’t leave her children on their own.
- This Scripture doesn’t say that either but some people might try to add this to God’s words.
- We can’t assume and add things to God’s word.
[33] Proverbs 31:17-19 She girdeth her loins with strength, and strengtheneth her arms. 18 She perceiveth that her merchandise is good: her candle goeth not out by night. 19 She layeth her hands to the spindle, and her hands hold the distaff.
- A virtuous woman is a hard working woman, but she must know the job God gave her to do.
- And I know every women in here right now is a very hard working woman. Every one of you.
- I know all of you, and I see how you work and do things. You all are amazing.
- And I’m not saying that to get on your good side. I don’t care if I’m on your good or bad side.
- You should know me better than that by now. I don’t do that. I tell you the truth. Like it or not.
[34] Proverbs 31:19-21 She layeth her hands to the spindle, and her hands hold the distaff. 20 She stretcheth out her hand to the poor; yea, she reacheth forth her hands to the needy. 21 She is not afraid of the snow for her household: for all her household are clothed with scarlet.
- She takes care of her family. And yes, this is all very hard work and lots to do.
[35] Proverbs 31:22-24 She maketh herself coverings of tapestry; her clothing is silk and purple. 23 Her husband is known in the gates, when he sitteth among the elders of the land. 24 She maketh fine linen, and selleth it; and delivereth girdles unto the merchant.
- She’s making things and selling things. She’s helping her husband in that way.
- This doesn’t say she isn’t guiding her home or has forsaken her children. She hasn’t.
[36] Proverbs 31:25-27 Strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come. 26 She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness. 27 She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness.
- She knows what’s going on in her house. She knows what’s on the cell phone.
- Verse 26 says she takes the cell phones away and smashes them with 20 pound sledge hammers.
- Is that what it says? No, it doesn’t. But I think it would have been pretty awesome if it did.
- But husbands, you can make a new rule in your house that states your wife should smash all the electronics with sledge hammers.
- Seriously, though, the virtuous woman is strong. She will rejoice because she’s doing her job.
- She has wisdom from God’s words. She is not idle. She looks after her household.
- Husbands, your wives has a lot to do already. Don’t make everything harder for her.
- Help her to do the right things and to follow the word of God.
[37] Proverbs 31:28-31 Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her. 29 Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all. 30 Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised. 31 Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates.
- Godly women fear the Lord and want to do what He says. Husbands, make it easy for your wife to do that.
- Don’t fight against God’s words. You have a choice. Do it God’s way or your way. What’s better?
- What about the example of Priscilla?
- Did Priscilla not guide her home and her children because of her career?
Did Priscilla Have Children?
[38] Acts 18:1-3 After these things Paul departed from Athens, and came to Corinth; 2 And found a certain Jew named Aquila, born in Pontus, lately come from Italy, with his wife Priscilla; (because that Claudius had commanded all Jews to depart from Rome:) and came unto them. 3 And because he was of the same craft, he abode with them, and wrought: for by their occupation they were tentmakers.
- Paul was a tentmaker. Aquila was a tentmaker. Did Priscilla help Aquila with making tents?
- This Scripture doesn’t say that 100% for sure. This is saying Paul and Aquila are both tent makers.
- But let’s say Priscilla was tentmaker too. She could be helping with this from home.
- This doesn’t mean she breaks God’s commandment to be a keeper of the home.
[39] Acts 18:18-19 And Paul after this tarried there yet a good while, and then took his leave of the brethren, and sailed thence into Syria, and with him Priscilla and Aquila; having shorn his head in Cenchrea: for he had a vow. 19 And he came to Ephesus, and left them there: but he himself entered into the synagogue, and reasoned with the Jews.
- Priscilla and Aquila went with Paul. This never mentions they had children.
- A wife doesn’t have to be in the home 100% of the time. She can leave with her husband.
- Never is a child mentioned.
[40] Acts 18:26 And he began to speak boldly in the synagogue: whom when Aquila and Priscilla had heard, they took him unto them, and expounded unto him the way of God more perfectly.
- A woman can expound the way of God more perfectly. She just can’t do it when church is taking place.
- That’s not her job. And notice that she does this with her husband Aquila.
[41] Romans 16:3-4 Greet Priscilla and Aquila my helpers in Christ Jesus: 4 Who have for my life laid down their own necks: unto whom not only I give thanks, but also all the churches of the Gentiles.
- Priscilla was a helper in Christ Jesus. Again, the Bible never says Priscilla had children.
[42] 1 Corinthians 16:19 The churches of Asia salute you. Aquila and Priscilla salute you much in the Lord, with the church that is in their house.
- And that is all the mentions of Priscilla in the Bible.
- For young women who have children, your job is to be a keeper at home with your children.
- Children are never mentioned for Deborah or Priscilla. I hope you see that and understand that.
- When a young woman with children needs to leave the home, she can take the children with her.
- If she needs to go alone for some reason, the husband can take care of the children. Work it out.
- But, in general, the job of the young woman with children is to be a keeper at home.
- The Bible is very clear on that and there is no other Scripture that contradicts that.
[43] Genesis 2:18 And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.
- Yes, the wife is a helper for her husband but this includes being a keeper at home.
- Who is going to take care of the children, teach them, and guide them while the husband is working?
- For all the young women who are here with children or listening online to this sermon, do you know any aged women who have been through all of this already?
- Go speak with the Godly aged women that you have around. Ask them how they did it.
- They’ve already been through everything you’re going through. Talk to them. It wasn’t easy.
Listen, you have the word of God which is above all, but you also have some people here who are very wise.
- Speak with them. They’ve already done what you’re trying to do now.
- When things get tough, talk to them. Read your Bible. Study your Bible. Ask questions.
- We are here to help you and to guide you along the way.
All of us are here for each other. You have people here on the side of Jesus Christ.
- Let’s do this together. You aren’t alone. See how people do things. Watch to see.
- We are not novices here. Ask advice. Take the advice. Put it into action.
- I hope with all that I have that this has helped you all here today.
- Please don’t allow people to add things to the Scriptures that aren’t there.
- Take the clear commandments from God and put those into action.
Let’s pray.
