[2] The title of the sermon: “GENESIS CHAPTER 19.”

How Many Righteous People Were Found In Sodom?

  • At the end of Genesis Chapter 18, we saw Abraham asking Jesus to not destroy Sodom if a specific number of righteous people were found in Sodom.
  • Abraham goes from 50 people, 45, 40, 30, 20, and then 10 people.
  • We know how that turned out so God didn’t find 10 people who had faith in Him in the entire city.
  • We also know that Abraham’s nephew Lot is dwelling in Sodom.
  • Abraham doesn’t want his nephew Lot to be destroyed.

Earlier in the chapter we saw three men appear to Abraham.

  • All 3 of these men were angels with one of them being THE LORD JESUS CHRIST.
  • As the chapter ends with Jesus speaking to Abraham, the other 2 men head to Sodom.

[3] Genesis 18:22 And the men turned their faces from thence, and went toward Sodom: but Abraham stood yet before the LORD.

  • We see these same 2 men who are angels at the beginning of Genesis Chapter 19.
  • Let’s start there in verse 1.

[4] Genesis 19:1 And there came two angels to Sodom at even; and Lot sat in the gate of Sodom: and Lot seeing them rose up to meet them; and he bowed himself with his face toward the ground;

  • The 2 angels come to Sodom at even. This would be around 6 PM when the sun is starting to go down.
  • Lot sat in the gate of Sodom. Lot see these 2 men or angels coming and rises up to meet them.
  • He bowed himself with his face toward the ground. He gives respect to these 2 men.

A Quick Overview Of Lot Within The Bible

Before we go any further, I want to give you a quick overview of the man Lot within the Bible.

  • If you find all the occurrences of his name throughout the Bible, you will find 37 matches in 34 verses.
  • Here’s a chart showing all 34 verses with their location throughout the Bible.

[5]

  • As you can see, Lot shows up in Genesis the most, as expected, and this is 27 out of 34 verses.
  • I did a quick study on Lot by reading through all of these Scriptures. Let’s do a recap of that study.
  • This will help us understand more about Lot as we go throughout Genesis Chapter 19.

[6] Genesis 11:27-28 Now these are the generations of Terah: Terah begat Abram, Nahor, and Haran; and Haran begat Lot. 28 And Haran died before his father Terah in the land of his nativity, in Ur of the Chaldees.

  • This is the first time Lot shows up in the entire Bible. This is Genesis Chapter 11.
  • We see that Abram’s brother, Haran, is the father of Lot so Lot is Abram’s nephew.
  • We also see that Lot loses his father so Terah takes Lot to be his own. He takes care of him.

[7] Genesis 11:31-32 And Terah took Abram his son, and Lot the son of Haran his son’s son, and Sarai his daughter in law, his son Abram’s wife; and they went forth with them from Ur of the Chaldees, to go into the land of Canaan; and they came unto Haran, and dwelt there. 32 And the days of Terah were two hundred and five years: and Terah died in Haran.

  • After Terah dies in Haran, Abram begins taking care of Lot. Or Lot goes with Abram where he goes.

[8] Genesis 12:4-5 So Abram departed, as the LORD had spoken unto him; and Lot went with him: and Abram was seventy and five years old when he departed out of Haran. 5 And Abram took Sarai his wife, and Lot his brother’s son, and all their substance that they had gathered, and the souls that they had gotten in Haran; and they went forth to go into the land of Canaan; and into the land of Canaan they came.

  • We see that Lot is on the move many times in his life. He leaves the Babylon area for Haran first.
  • He then leaves Haran and goes into the land of Canaan. Where else does Lot go?

[9] Genesis 13:1-3 And Abram went up out of Egypt, he, and his wife, and all that he had, and Lot with him, into the south. 2 And Abram was very rich in cattle, in silver, and in gold. 3 And he went on his journeys from the south even to Beth-el, unto the place where his tent had been at the beginning, between Beth-el and Hai;

  • We then see Lot went to Egypt with Abram. And then they come up out of Egypt.

[10] Genesis 13:5-6 And Lot also, which went with Abram, had flocks, and herds, and tents. 6 And the land was not able to bear them, that they might dwell together: for their substance was great, so that they could not dwell together.

  • We now see that Lot is a very rich man in flocks, herds, and tents. Abram and Lot couldn’t stay together.
  • They both had too many things. This is what the Bible says. So what happens?

[11] Genesis 13:9-10 Is not the whole land before thee? separate thyself, I pray thee, from me: if thou wilt take the left hand, then I will go to the right; or if thou depart to the right hand, then I will go to the left. 10 And Lot lifted up his eyes, and beheld all the plain of Jordan, that it was well watered every where, before the LORD destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah, even as the garden of the LORD, like the land of Egypt, as thou comest unto Zoar.

  • Lot chooses the best land that he sees.

[12] Genesis 13:11-13 Then Lot chose him all the plain of Jordan; and Lot journeyed east: and they separated themselves the one from the other. 12 Abram dwelled in the land of Canaan, and Lot dwelled in the cities of the plain, and pitched his tent toward Sodom. 13 But the men of Sodom were wicked and sinners before the LORD exceedingly.

  • In Genesis Chapter 13, we see Lot pitching his tent toward Sodom.
  • The Bible tells us that the men of Sodom were wicked and sinners before the Lord exceedingly.
  • Do you remember what happened to Lot in Genesis Chapter 14?

[13] Genesis 14:9-10 With Chedorlaomer the king of Elam, and with Tidal king of nations, and Amraphel king of Shinar, and Arioch king of Ellasar; four kings with five. 10 And the vale of Siddim was full of slimepits; and the kings of Sodom and Gomorrah fled, and fell there; and they that remained fled to the mountain.

[14] Genesis 14:11-12 And they took all the goods of Sodom and Gomorrah, and all their victuals, and went their way. 12 And they took Lot, Abram’s brother’s son, who dwelt in Sodom, and his goods, and departed.

  • Lot was taken by the king of Elam in the battle with Sodom. This means Lot was already living in Sodom.
  • He had pitched his tent toward Sodom and ended up living there with the wicked people.
  • He took his family into that wicked city and is kidnapped during a war.

[15] Genesis 14:14-16 And when Abram heard that his brother was taken captive, he armed his trained servants, born in his own house, three hundred and eighteen, and pursued them unto Dan. 15 And he divided himself against them, he and his servants, by night, and smote them, and pursued them unto Hobah, which is on the left hand of Damascus. 16 And he brought back all the goods, and also brought again his brother Lot, and his goods, and the women also, and the people.

  • Abram rescues Lot. From Genesis Chapter 14 to Genesis Chapter 19, we don’t hear about Lot.
  • Now, we see that Lot is sitting in the gate of Sodom. He continued to live with the wicked men there.
  • After Genesis Chapter 19, we don’t see Lot’s name mentioned any more until Deuteronomy Chapter 2.
  • The Scriptures in Deuteronomy are talking about the children of Lot which we’ll learn about later.
  • Lot is mentioned once in Psalm Chapter 83 again talking about his children.
  • We then see Lot mentioned in 4 Scriptures in the New Testament. Let’s read those.

[16] Luke 17:27-29 They did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all. 28 Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded; 29 But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all.

[17] Luke 17:30-32 Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed. 31 In that day, he which shall be upon the housetop, and his stuff in the house, let him not come down to take it away: and he that is in the field, let him likewise not return back. 32 Remember Lot’s wife.

  • What we are about to learn in Genesis Chapter 19 exactly what is mentioned here.
  • We are to be saved by Jesus Christ and never look back. Walk with Him and keep going. Stay consistent.
  • Don’t quit because times get tough. Remember Lot’s wife.
  • Let’s look at the last instance of Lot’s name being used in the New Testament.

The Last Occurrence Of Lot Within The Bible

[18] 2 Peter 2:6-7 And turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrha into ashes condemned them with an overthrow, making them an ensample unto those that after should live ungodly; 7 And delivered just Lot, vexed with the filthy conversation of the wicked:

[19] 2 Peter 2:8-9 (For that righteous man dwelling among them, in seeing and hearing, vexed his righteous soul from day to day with their unlawful deeds;) 9 The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished:

  • From this Scripture, we know that Lot was a righteous man or a saved man.
  • Lot was saved by God’s grace through his faith in God. Did he live perfectly, though?
  • No. Did Lot make all the right decisions? No. He lived in a wicked city and took his family there.
  • And then he didn’t even hurry to leave when warned by God.

But thank God that Jesus Christ knows how to deliver the Godly out of temptations.

  • And thank God that He knows how to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgement to be punished.
  • With that quick overview of Lot, let’s see what happens in Genesis Chapter 19.
  • Remember, in verse 1 the 2 angels come to Lot at even in the gate of Sodom.

[20] Genesis 19:2 And he said, Behold now, my lords, turn in, I pray you, into your servant’s house, and tarry all night, and wash your feet, and ye shall rise up early, and go on your ways. And they said, Nay; but we will abide in the street all night.

  • Lot asks the 2 angels to come inside his home. He is telling them he is their servant.
  • He asks them to stay all night, wash their feet, and rise up early.
  • Again, people washed their feet before entering into someone’s home.
  • It’s very respectful to take off your shoes when you enter into someone’s home.
  • Why? Because the shoes are dirty. Same thing here with washing their feet.

So you can see in Bible times that people were accustomed to washing their feet before entering a home.

  • Remember, being clean is very important to God.
  • Lot asks them to stay in his home that night, rise up early, and go on their way.
  • The 2 angels say, “No thanks. We will abide in the street all night.”

[21] Genesis 19:3 And he pressed upon them greatly; and they turned in unto him, and entered into his house; and he made them a feast, and did bake unleavened bread, and they did eat.

  • Lot continues to urge them to stay with him. This works and the angels come inside with Lot.
  • They enter into his house. Lot makes them a feast including unleavened bread.
  • And they ate the feast that Lot prepared for them. Notice that this says Lot made them a feast.
  • Lot’s wife is never mentioned here as Sarai was in Genesis Chapter 18.

Also, this is the first Scripture in which the phrase “unleavened bread” is seen throughout the Bible.

  • The next use of the phrase unleavened bread is seen in Exodus Chapter 12 with the Passover.
  • Unleavened bread is faster to prepare but leavened bread is a picture of something.
  • The New Testament teaches us about leaven.

What Does The Bible Teach About Leaven

[22] 1 Corinthians 5:6-8 Your glorying is not good. Know ye not that a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump? 7 Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us: 8 Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness; but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.

  • Unleavened bread represents sincerity and truth. A little leaven leaveneth the whole lump.
  • We are to get rid of the old leaven so that we may be a new lump that is unleavened.

[23] Matthew 16:6 Then Jesus said unto them, Take heed and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees.

[24] Matthew 16:11-12 How is it that ye do not understand that I spake it not to you concerning bread, that ye should beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees? 12 Then understood they how that he bade them not beware of the leaven of bread, but of the doctrine of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees.

  • You must watch what this world is teaching you. You must beware of what the churches are teaching.

[25] Galatians 5:6-9 For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love. 7 Ye did run well; who did hinder you that ye should not obey the truth? 8 This persuasion cometh not of him that calleth you. 9 A little leaven leaveneth the whole lump.

  • For example, here in Galatians, we learn that a works based salvation is like leaven.
  • And a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump. It spreads quickly. You can see that all around here.
  • A works based salvation is clearly evil, but yet, most churches are teaching a works based salvation.
  • This is leaven. It is malice and wickedness to teach a works based salvation.
  • So, keep in mind that Lot fed the 2 angels unleavened bread in Genesis Chapter 19.

[26] Genesis 19:4-5 But before they lay down, the men of the city, even the men of Sodom, compassed the house round, both old and young, all the people from every quarter: 5 And they called unto Lot, and said unto him, Where are the men which came in to thee this night? bring them out unto us, that we may know them.

  • These 2 men came to Lot at even or about 6 PM. He fixes them a feast and they ate.
  • Before they could lay down to sleep for the night, the wicked men of Sodom surround the house.
  • But notice exactly what the Scriptures say: “BOTH OLD AND YOUNG. ALL THE PEOPLE.”
  • You have sodomites or homosexuals running around everywhere, both old and young.

The LGBTQ crowd is attempting to do the same thing to this country and people are allowing it.

  • If you don’t agree with it, they attack you and call you names. They act as if you are the one who hates.
  • They’ll say, “You spread hate. We spread love. We love everyone. We are inclusive of everyone.”
  • They are the ones who are spreading hate. Hate is breaking God’s commandments.
  • Love is following God’s commandments. Being a homosexual is an abomination to God.

[27] Leviticus 18:22 Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination.

  • That’s a commandment from God. If you break that commandment, you are not loving anyone.

[28] Romans 13:10 Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.

  • That’s the law in the Book of Leviticus. When you follow God’s law, you have love.

Homosexuals Are Hated By God

Homosexuals are greatly hated by God. And guess what? I didn’t come up with that on my own. God did.

  • You can call God a God of hate all you want, but it won’t work out well for you. God is a righteous God.
  • This means He is right, and you are wrong when you disagree with Him. So get over it.
  • You’re wrong if you think it’s okay to be a homosexual, sodomite, transgender, queer, lesbian, fag, or gay.

[29] 1 John 5:3 For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.

[30] 2 John 6 And this is love, that we walk after his commandments. This is the commandment, That, as ye have heard from the beginning, ye should walk in it.

  • Do not be fooled by the world who teaches you are wrong, bad, and evil when you hate homosexuality.
  • According to God, homosexuality is a very grievous sin. Child molesters are hated by God.
  • The world will teach you that you shouldn’t hate child molesters. Let me be clear. I hate child molesters.
  • This means I reject them in every way possible. But the world doesn’t. They did, but things are changing.

[31] 1 John 2:15-16 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.

  • Stop being deceived by this world. Don’t join in with the gay pride trash. Don’t yoke up with these fools.

[32] 2 Timothy 3:13 But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.

  • This is what is happening in this country right now and they act as if it is for the good. It’s not good.

[33] 1 Timothy 1:9-10 Knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers, 10 For whoremongers, for them that defile themselves with mankind, for menstealers, for liars, for perjured persons, and if there be any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine;

  • The law was made for homosexuals. And what does the law say?

[34] Leviticus 20:13 If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.

  • The law of a righteous country will match God’s law. Our country should be following this law.
  • We did follow this law in this country in the past. Now, the queers boast about the laws being changed.
  • NO, WE HAD IT RIGHT. This country was a Godly country.

When Richard Cornish, a sodomite, was executed in 1624 in Virginia for homosexual acts, they did the right thing.

  • When Thomas Jefferson, in 1777, revised Virginia law to take away the death penalty for homosexuals, he did the wrong thing.
  • Understand that our so-called heroes of this country were not heroes. JESUS CHRIST IS THE HERO.
  • Do not act as if any man or woman is the hero and your idol. They aren’t.
  • Jesus Christ is good. Worship Him. He deserves to be worshipped. The others don’t deserve anything.

More Homosexuals Does Not Equal A “Better” Country

More homosexuals does not equal a better country. It equals a WICKED AND EVIL country.

  • If so-called “Christians” continue to yoke up with sodomites, this country will be just like Sodom.
  • The old and the young are being transformed into sodomites.
  • They called to Lot, “Where are the men which came in to thee this night?”
  • “Bring them to us that we may KNOW THEM.” They want to sexually know the 2 men who are angels.

That’s sick and nasty. They are complete strangers and they want to “KNOW THEM” sexually.

  • Weird. Sick. Nasty. Evil. Corrupt. Defiling. Vomit. That’s what homosexuals are to God.
  • And they have proved this throughout the Bible and throughout history.
  • What other evidence do you need? If you don’t think it’s nasty, you’re the weird one.

[35] Isaiah 3:9 The shew of their countenance doth witness against them; and they declare their sin as Sodom, they hide it not. Woe unto their soul! for they have rewarded evil unto themselves.

  • Do you see how the people of Sodom didn’t hide what they wanted to do? They all joined in together.
  • That’s exactly what is happening in this country. The evil people are joining forces with the sodomites.
  • And they don’t hide what they love to do. They are sick and nasty.
  • And all who support them are sick and nasty. God says so. READ THE BIBLE you so-called “Christians.”

[36] Genesis 19:6-7 And Lot went out at the door unto them, and shut the door after him, 7 And said, I pray you, brethren, do not so wickedly.

  • Lot goes out of his house door to meet these sodomites. He shut the door after him.
  • So the door into his home is closed. He’s trying to protect the 2 men or angels who are his guests.
  • Lot asks them nicely, “I PRAY YOU, BRETHREN, DO NOT SO WICKEDLY.”
  • He calls them brethren. Don’t ever call a homosexual your brethren. They aren’t. They are nothing like us.
  • They hate God. Some will act as if they love Jesus Christ but they made up another Jesus.
  • If they loved Jesus Christ, they would follow His commandments to not commit abomination.

[37] John 14:15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.

  • Don’t be fooled by sodomites, homosexuals, and queers that act as if they love Jesus Christ.
  • If they loved Him, they would do what He says.
  • Sodom is an example of what Jesus will do to gays, homosexuals, transgenders, queers, and sodomites.
  • Notice, though, that Lot says to them: “DO NOT SO WICKEDLY.” Lot knew they were wicked.
  • And yet, he stayed there in that city. BIG MISTAKE. Don’t ever do that. Get away from that trash.

For example, if a homosexual is teaching your child at school, take them out of school.

  • If a homo has entered into your church and the church leaders won’t remove them, leave that church.
  • You aren’t the one causing the problem.
  • It’s the homosexual and then the leaders who are causing the problems.
  • If you’re surrounded by homosexuals at work, find a new job. It will be better for you.
  • If you live in San Francisco, find a new city to live. You don’t need to be around that trash.

[38] Genesis 19:8 Behold now, I have two daughters which have not known man; let me, I pray you, bring them out unto you, and do ye to them as is good in your eyes: only unto these men do nothing; for therefore came they under the shadow of my roof.

  • Let’s be very clear here. THIS IS AN EVIL OFFER BY LOT.
  • Lot was not a perfect man, but he was a saved man. But this is evil. This is sin.
  • And yet, God is going to save Lot from Sodom because none of us are perfect.
  • This also tells you how much Lot cared for these 2 men because he knew they were from God.
  • Still, you don’t offer your virgin daughters to these evil and wicked men.
  • Lot should have trusted that God would take care of these angels. But he tried to do it on his own.
  • How? By offering his two virgin daughters to these nasty and sick people.

[39] Genesis 19:9 And they said, Stand back. And they said again, This one fellow came in to sojourn, and he will needs be a judge: now will we deal worse with thee, than with them. And they pressed sore upon the man, even Lot, and came near to break the door.

  • The wicked men of Sodom tell Lot to stand back. In other words, get out of the way.
  • They say that Lot came there to sojourn or live there temporarily and now he wants to judge them.
  • He called their ways wicked. They didn’t like it at all.
  • When you tell a sodomite they are wicked, they don’t like it.
  • They say, “Now will we deal worse with thee than with them.”
  • They pressed sore upon Lot or painfully against Lot. They came to break down his door.
  • Let’s see what happens next.

[40] Genesis 19:10-11 But the men put forth their hand, and pulled Lot into the house to them, and shut to the door. 11 And they smote the men that were at the door of the house with blindness, both small and great: so that they wearied themselves to find the door.

  • The 2 angels put forth their hand and saved Lot. They pulled him into the house and shut the door.
  • They smote the men of Sodom that were at the door with blindness both small and great.
  • Some had a little blindness and others were probably completely blind.
  • They wearied themselves to find the door because they were now blinded. Imagine that.

The Blinded Sodomites Keep Trying As They Will Never Stop

Blinded and they continue to try to find the door. You can tell sodomites they are wrong.

  • And they will attack you. They won’t stop. They are vigilant even when blinded by God.
  • They have no mercy. They are like brute beasts. They are like dogs. They won’t stop their evil ways.
  • Yes, God will make people blind. He says so throughout the Bible.
  • And this blindness can be both physical and spiritual blindness.

[41] 2 Kings 6:17-18 And Elisha prayed, and said, LORD, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see. And the LORD opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha. 18 And when they came down to him, Elisha prayed unto the LORD, and said, Smite this people, I pray thee, with blindness. And he smote them with blindness according to the word of Elisha.

  • God can open your eyes and God can blind you. Understand that.
  • Elisha prayed to the Lord to blind these people who were there to kill him. And guess what? It happened.

[42] Acts 13:10-12 And said, O full of all subtilty and all mischief, thou child of the devil, thou enemy of all righteousness, wilt thou not cease to pervert the right ways of the Lord? 11 And now, behold, the hand of the Lord is upon thee, and thou shalt be blind, not seeing the sun for a season. And immediately there fell on him a mist and a darkness; and he went about seeking some to lead him by the hand. 12 Then the deputy, when he saw what was done, believed, being astonished at the doctrine of the Lord.

  • God’s ways are astonishing. He is amazing. There is nothing too hard for Him.

[43] Romans 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

  • When you love God and do your best to keep His commandments, He works out all things for you.
  • It might not be exactly what you want, but whatever He gives you is best for you.
  • Trust in the Lord no matter what. Lot had some trouble trusting in the Lord at all times.
  • But God comes through by blinding these sodomites.
  • And physical blindness right then and there was nothing compared to what was coming soon.

[44] Genesis 19:12-13 And the men said unto Lot, Hast thou here any besides? son in law, and thy sons, and thy daughters, and whatsoever thou hast in the city, bring them out of this place: 13 For we will destroy this place, because the cry of them is waxen great before the face of the LORD; and the LORD hath sent us to destroy it.

  • Now we see the angels tell Lot their purpose for coming to Sodom. They are there to destroy it.
  • So we know for sure there were less than 10 saved people in the city of Sodom.

[45] Genesis 18:32 And he said, Oh let not the Lord be angry, and I will speak yet but this once: Peradventure ten shall be found there. And he said, I will not destroy it for ten’s sake.

  • The two angels tell Lot to gather his family and get them out of there.
  • Bring whatever you have in this wicked city and get out of here because it will be destroyed.
  • Why is it being destroyed? “Because the cry of them is waxen great before the face of the Lord.”

[46] Genesis 13:13 But the men of Sodom were wicked and sinners before the LORD exceedingly.

[47] Genesis 18:20-21 And the LORD said, Because the cry of Sodom and Gomorrah is great, and because their sin is very grievous; 21 I will go down now, and see whether they have done altogether according to the cry of it, which is come unto me; and if not, I will know.

  • God sends these angels to Sodom and just look at what happens.
  • The sodomites attempt to attack the 2 men that God sends to Sodom.
  • God is destroying the city of Sodom because it is filled with homosexuals, obviously.
  • They gathered around, both young and old, and wanted to “KNOW THE MEN.”
  • God will destroy evil and wicked places just as He’s getting ready to do right here.

[48] Genesis 19:14 And Lot went out, and spake unto his sons in law, which married his daughters, and said, Up, get you out of this place; for the LORD will destroy this city. But he seemed as one that mocked unto his sons in law.

  • Lot goes to warn the husbands of his daughters. So, we just learned that 2 of his daughters are virgins.
  • This is talking about the 2 husbands who have married his daughters.
  • But they haven’t yet consummated the marriage.
  • The 2 daughters were obviously living with Lot at this time.
  • Lot goes to warn his 2 sons in law. Lot tells them: “UP, GET YOU OUT OF THIS PLACE.”
  • “For the Lord will destroy this city.”

Warnings From God Are Laughed At And Mocked

When you give a warning from God to the unsaved, to them it feels like you are mocking or insulting them.

  • This happens constantly when you give someone the Gospel and warn them about death and hell.
  • I’ve had many people laugh at me. I tell them it’s not funny. Death isn’t funny.
  • When someone dies in your family, do you think it’s funny? DEATH IS REAL. It’s not something to mock.

[49] 2 Chronicles 30:9-10 For if ye turn again unto the LORD, your brethren and your children shall find compassion before them that lead them captive, so that they shall come again into this land: for the LORD your God is gracious and merciful, and will not turn away his face from you, if ye return unto him. 10 So the posts passed from city to city through the country of Ephraim and Manasseh even unto Zebulun: but they laughed them to scorn, and mocked them.

  • People throughout this world MOCK and LAUGH at God’s word. People will do that to you.

[50] Matthew 9:22-24 But Jesus turned him about, and when he saw her, he said, Daughter, be of good comfort; thy faith hath made thee whole. And the woman was made whole from that hour. 23 And when Jesus came into the ruler’s house, and saw the minstrels and the people making a noise, 24 He said unto them, Give place: for the maid is not dead, but sleepeth. And they laughed him to scorn.

  • Jesus was mocked and laughed at over and over again.
  • If you are afraid to be laughed at, then you need to wake up. Don’t be scared. Who cares?
  • People will laugh at you for following Jesus Christ. It will happen. Can you not be laughed at for Jesus?
  • I sure can. That’s why I’m standing up here being recorded. I don’t care who laughs at me. Go ahead.
  • Mock me. Laugh at me. You just make me stronger. Thanks. I love Jesus Christ. Now laugh at that.

[51] 2 Chronicles 36:16 But they mocked the messengers of God, and despised his words, and misused his prophets, until the wrath of the LORD arose against his people, till there was no remedy.

  • Keep laughing. Your time is coming. You can’t hide from God.
  • Lot’s sons in law thought Lot had lost it. He seemed as one who mocked. But he wasn’t.

[52] Jeremiah 6:10 To whom shall I speak, and give warning, that they may hear? behold, their ear is uncircumcised, and they cannot hearken: behold, the word of the LORD is unto them a reproach; they have no delight in it.

[53] Ezekiel 3:17 Son of man, I have made thee a watchman unto the house of Israel: therefore hear the word at my mouth, and give them warning from me.

  • God commands us to give warnings from Him according to His words in the Bible.

[54] 1 Corinthians 4:14 I write not these things to shame you, but as my beloved sons I warn you.

[55] Colossians 1:28 Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus:

[56] 1 Thessalonians 5:14 Now we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are unruly, comfort the feebleminded, support the weak, be patient toward all men.

  • We are supposed to warn the unsaved about death and hell as well as saved people who aren’t doing what God has asked them to do.
  • My experience is the so-called “SAVED PEOPLE” will get mad at you, quit on you, and leave you when you attempt to help them with the truth from God’s words.

[57] Proverbs 6:23 For the commandment is a lamp; and the law is light; and reproofs of instruction are the way of life:

  • If you don’t like to be corrected, you’re going to have a very tough life.
  • If you think your ways are the best ways, you’re going to have a very difficult life.

[58] Proverbs 10:17 He is in the way of life that keepeth instruction: but he that refuseth reproof erreth.

[59] Proverbs 12:1 Whoso loveth instruction loveth knowledge: but he that hateth reproof is brutish.

  • God commands us to warn others. If you won’t, then you are breaking God’s commandments.
  • Genesis Chapter 19 is a warning from God to all homosexuals and all those who support them.
  • And I am doing the job God gave me by warning them in this sermon. If you don’t like it, talk to God.
  • If you fear God at all, you will listen to His words. They are very clear and easy to understand.
  • Lot’s sons in law didn’t listen, and they were destroyed with Sodom. God gave them a chance.
  • They didn’t take it. They wouldn’t listen to Lot. Take that as a warning today. Listen to God and His words.

[60] Genesis 19:15-16 And when the morning arose, then the angels hastened Lot, saying, Arise, take thy wife, and thy two daughters, which are here; lest thou be consumed in the iniquity of the city. 16 And while he lingered, the men laid hold upon his hand, and upon the hand of his wife, and upon the hand of his two daughters; the LORD being merciful unto him: and they brought him forth, and set him without the city.

  • The angels attempt to HURRY Lot. They hastened Lot that morning.
  • They say, “ARISE!!! TAKE THY WIFE, AND THY TWO DAUGHTERS, WHICH ARE HERE.”
  • Get them out of here, Lot, or they will be consumed in the iniquity of the city.
  • Did that speed up Lot? Did he get up and get in a hurry so they wouldn’t be destroyed?
  • Look at verse 16. “And while he lingered.” Or delayed or waited. He was very slow to get out of there.

The Angels Took Lot By The Hand And Led Him Out

So what did God do for Lot since he didn’t quite take everything so seriously?

  • The angels laid hold upon his hand, and upon the hand of his wife, and upon the hand of his two daughters.
  • They were going to lead them out of there since they weren’t hurrying.
  • They bring Lot, his wife, and two daughters outside of the city.
  • GOD WAS MERCIFUL UNTO LOT.

[61] Psalm 86:5 For thou, Lord, art good, and ready to forgive; and plenteous in mercy unto all them that call upon thee.

[62] Psalm 86:15 But thou, O Lord, art a God full of compassion, and gracious, longsuffering, and plenteous in mercy and truth.

[63] Psalm 103:8 The LORD is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy.

[64] Micah 7:18-19 Who is a God like unto thee, that pardoneth iniquity, and passeth by the transgression of the remnant of his heritage? he retaineth not his anger for ever, because he delighteth in mercy. 19 He will turn again, he will have compassion upon us; he will subdue our iniquities; and thou wilt cast all their sins into the depths of the sea.

  • If God were not merciful, I wouldn’t be here right now. I deserve to be dead.
  • But He saved me through the blood of Jesus Christ. I trust Jesus Christ with everything that I have.
  • So He has been merciful unto me every day of my life.

[65] 1 Chronicles 16:34 O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever.

  • Give thanks to the Lord for His mercy endureth FOREVER. Thank God.
  • And Lot had to be very thankful for God’s mercy in the day Sodom was destroyed.
  • The angels took Lot and his family out of there. And God could have just said, “Forget it.”
  • But He didn’t. He was patient and merciful with Lot but got Him out of there.

[66] Genesis 19:17 And it came to pass, when they had brought them forth abroad, that he said, Escape for thy life; look not behind thee, neither stay thou in all the plain; escape to the mountain, lest thou be consumed.

  • The 2 men get Lot and his family out of there. Just 4 of them in total.
  • They get them outside of the city and tell them to RUN!!! They say, “Escape for thy life.”
  • “Look not behind thee. Neither stay thou in all the plain.” Don’t stay in the plains at all.
  • “ESCAPE TO THE MOUNTAIN, LEST THOU BE CONSUMED.”
  • In other words, God will destroy all of the plains. What does Lot say and do? Let’s see. Next verse.

[67] Genesis 19:18-20 And Lot said unto them, Oh, not so, my Lord: 19 Behold now, thy servant hath found grace in thy sight, and thou hast magnified thy mercy, which thou hast shewed unto me in saving my life; and I cannot escape to the mountain, lest some evil take me, and I die: 20 Behold now, this city is near to flee unto, and it is a little one: Oh, let me escape thither, (is it not a little one?) and my soul shall live.

  • Lot doesn’t want to go all the way to the mountains on his own. He thinks some evil will get him.
  • So he wants to stay in this small city that is near to them at this time.
  • It appears Lot might be afraid to live on his own. He appears to need a city around him.

[68] Genesis 19:21-23 And he said unto him, See, I have accepted thee concerning this thing also, that I will not overthrow this city, for the which thou hast spoken. 22 Haste thee, escape thither; for I cannot do any thing till thou be come thither. Therefore the name of the city was called Zoar. 23 The sun was risen upon the earth when Lot entered into Zoar.

  • The angels woke Lot up early that morning.
  • Lot may have been very tired and didn’t think he had the strength to make it to the mountains.
  • He wants to go to a small city that is close.
  • The angel says, “I have accepted thee concerning this thing also.”
  • Do you see how God listens to His people? If you are tired, He listens and He adjusts His plans for you.
  • Pray to Him. Give Him your requests. Ask and you shall receive. This is what Lot does right here.

God Does Not Overthrow Zoar Because Of Lot’s Request

God is not going to overthrow this small city in the plains because of Lot’s request.

  • The angel tells Lot to hurry up.
  • “Haste thee, escape thither. For I cannot do anything till thou be come thither.”
  • That small city there was called Zoar because of this. Zoar means small.
  • The sun was already up that morning when Lot entered into Zoar.
  • So, from the time the angels came to Lot to the time when Lot was safe in Zoar, it was about 12 hours.
  • Now that Lot was safely in Zoar, let’s see what happens next.

[69] Genesis 19:24-25 Then the LORD rained upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the LORD out of heaven; 25 And he overthrew those cities, and all the plain, and all the inhabitants of the cities, and that which grew upon the ground.

  • As soon as Lot was safe, the Lord rained upon Sodom and Gomorrah brimstone and fire.
  • Where did it come from? “From the Lord out of heaven.” He did this in the day time and in the light.
  • They thought they were safe. They didn’t think anything of their evil deeds.
  • And God destroyed them in the light. He overthrew the cities of the plain and all the inhabitants.
  • He destroyed everything that grew upon the ground.

[70] Luke 17:28-30 Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded; 29 But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all. 30 Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed.

  • The second coming of Jesus Christ will be just like Genesis Chapter 19.
  • Lot is having a lot of trouble. God’s people will go through great tribulation.
  • Once Lot was safe, the Lord poured out His wrath on Sodom and the cities of the plain.
  • Once all of God’s people are safe with the rapture, then God will pour out His wrath.
  • We will go through tribulation, then Jesus comes in the clouds to rapture us away, and then God pours out His wrath.
  • “Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed.”
  • This gives the order of end times events.

[71] Luke 17:31-33 In that day, he which shall be upon the housetop, and his stuff in the house, let him not come down to take it away: and he that is in the field, let him likewise not return back. 32 Remember Lot’s wife. 33 Whosoever shall seek to save his life shall lose it; and whosoever shall lose his life shall preserve it.

[72] Luke 17:34-37 I tell you, in that night there shall be two men in one bed; the one shall be taken, and the other shall be left. 35 Two women shall be grinding together; the one shall be taken, and the other left. 36 Two men shall be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left. 37 And they answered and said unto him, Where, Lord? And he said unto them, Wheresoever the body is, thither will the eagles be gathered together.

  • This is clearly talking about the rapture or the first resurrection as referred to in the Bible.
  • We will all be gathered together unto Jesus Christ when He is revealed in the clouds at His second coming.
  • Jesus Christ will save us from the wrath of God just as He saved Lot in Genesis Chapter 19.

[73] Genesis 19:26 But his wife looked back from behind him, and she became a pillar of salt.

  • God commanded them to not look back. Lot’s wife looked back.

[74] Hebrews 10:38-39 Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him. 39 But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul.

  • Lot’s wife is a picture of someone who was almost saved but had to draw back and was destroyed.
  • Believing on Jesus Christ is what saves you. Don’t look back. Don’t draw back. Just believe and be saved.
  • Do not get very close to believing on Jesus Christ and then draw back.

[75] Genesis 19:27-29 And Abraham gat up early in the morning to the place where he stood before the LORD: 28 And he looked toward Sodom and Gomorrah, and toward all the land of the plain, and beheld, and, lo, the smoke of the country went up as the smoke of a furnace. 29 And it came to pass, when God destroyed the cities of the plain, that God remembered Abraham, and sent Lot out of the midst of the overthrow, when he overthrew the cities in the which Lot dwelt.

  • Why did God save Lot when He rained fire and brimstone? He was a saved man. Lot went to heaven.
  • But what do the Scriptures say here?
  • “God remembered Abraham, and sent Lot out of the midst of the overthrow.”
  • Abraham loved his nephew Lot and asked God to save Lot. And God remembered Abraham and saved Lot.
  • It’s a very good thing to have saved people who love God around you and praying for you.
  • This proves that. This is why we need each other, and why we need to pray for each other.
  • I thank God for all of you who pray for all of us and for each other.

God Saved Lot Because Of Abraham

God saved Lot out of the all that smoke as a furnace all because of Abraham.

  • And He also was going to save Lot’s family. You can do the same for your family.
  • Let’s say a family is led by a righteous and saved man who loves the Lord Jesus Christ.
  • This family will be blessed through that man loving the Lord. God will work things out for that family.
  • But, in the end, it’s up to each and every person in that family to be saved by Jesus Christ.

[76] Genesis 19:30 And Lot went up out of Zoar, and dwelt in the mountain, and his two daughters with him; for he feared to dwell in Zoar: and he dwelt in a cave, he and his two daughters.

  • Lot now does the right thing and gets out of the wicked city of Zoar as well.
  • Remember, God had planned on destroying this city as well. But didn’t because of Lot.
  • Now Lot gets out of there and lives in the mountain. Its just Lot and his two daughters left in this cave.

[77] Genesis 19:31-33 And the firstborn said unto the younger, Our father is old, and there is not a man in the earth to come in unto us after the manner of all the earth: 32 Come, let us make our father drink wine, and we will lie with him, that we may preserve seed of our father. 33 And they made their father drink wine that night: and the firstborn went in, and lay with her father; and he perceived not when she lay down, nor when she arose.

  • I am not sure how many lessons on alcohol could be taught in the Bible and people still don’t get it.
  • We’ve seen the example with Noah and Ham. Now we see this wickedness being done.
  • Lot shouldn’t be drinking wine. Notice that people tend to do this once God saves them.
  • Noah got off the ark after all that God had done and gets drunk. Lot is saved from fire and brimstone.
  • And then he gets drunk. BE CAREFUL. Do not relax on God’s commandments at any time. KEEP THEM.

[78] Proverbs 23:31-33 Look not thou upon the wine when it is red, when it giveth his colour in the cup, when it moveth itself aright. 32 At the last it biteth like a serpent, and stingeth like an adder. 33 Thine eyes shall behold strange women, and thine heart shall utter perverse things.

  • Lot didn’t follow that commandment. Don’t even look at alcohol. Stay away from it.
  • Lot didn’t do this and his daughters make him to drink wine. They lie with him sexually.
  • This is nasty and wicked. Leviticus Chapter 18 teaches us that. THIS IS FORBIDDEN BY GOD.

[79] Leviticus 18:6-7 None of you shall approach to any that is near of kin to him, to uncover their nakedness: I am the LORD. 7 The nakedness of thy father, or the nakedness of thy mother, shalt thou not uncover: she is thy mother; thou shalt not uncover her nakedness.

  • Did this happen in the Book of Genesis? Yes. Does it happen throughout history? Yes.
  • Does it happen now? Yes. It is sick, wicked, nasty, and evil? Yes.
  • We see Lot’s oldest daughter do this to her father Lot. Where did she learn this? Probably in Sodom.
  • When you allow your children to be around trash like this, things like this will happen.
  • Are you watching what your children are seeing on TV, phones, and other devices?
  • This world is teaching your children all types of wicked things unless you are putting a stop to it.
  • Yes, it takes work on your part. You need to get your children away from this trash.
  • The world loves to teach your children evil and wicked things. Will you put a stop to this or not?

It’s Your Job As A Parent To Put A Stop To The World Teaching Your Children Wicked Things

[80] Genesis 19:34-35 And it came to pass on the morrow, that the firstborn said unto the younger, Behold, I lay yesternight with my father: let us make him drink wine this night also; and go thou in, and lie with him, that we may preserve seed of our father. 35 And they made their father drink wine that night also: and the younger arose, and lay with him; and he perceived not when she lay down, nor when she arose.

  • The oldest sister was a horrible example for the younger sister.
  • Lot is now getting drunken two nights in a row. This is called bring a drunkard.
  • Lot had been through a lot in his life but there is no excuse for any of this. He could have stopped this.
  • The 2 daughters are working up evil schemes against their father and tricking their very own father.
  • Don’t do that. Evil and wicked politicians come up with evil schemes like this. Don’t be like this.

[81] Proverbs 20:1 Wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging: and whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise.

[82] Genesis 9:21 And he drank of the wine, and was drunken; and he was uncovered within his tent.

[83] Habakkuk 2:15 Woe unto him that giveth his neighbour drink, that puttest thy bottle to him, and makest him drunken also, that thou mayest look on their nakedness!

  • How many Scriptures and examples do the Catholics need to see before they realize alcohol is not good?
  • Don’t be a fool. Don’t be a so-called “Christian” who approves of getting drunken with alcohol.
  • Don’t attempt to twist Scriptures to make them say what you want.
  • When alcohol comes into play, bad things happen. You don’t want to have any part in that.
  • STAY AWAY FROM ALCOHOL. Nakedness comes with alcohol and bad things happen. Lot is an example.

[84] Genesis 19:36 Thus were both the daughters of Lot with child by their father.

  • Both of Lot’s daughters are now pregnant by their very own father. NASTY. This is not okay.
  • And an evil and wicked people were produced from both of these great sins.

[85] Genesis 19:37-38 And the firstborn bare a son, and called his name Moab: the same is the father of the Moabites unto this day. 38 And the younger, she also bare a son, and called his name Ben-ammi: the same is the father of the children of Ammon unto this day.

  • So, we learn that Lot and his oldest daughter produced the Moabites through their son named MOAB.
  • And Lot and his youngest daughter produces the Ammonites through their son named Ben-ammi.
  • The Moabites and the Ammonites become enemies to the children of Israel.
  • But that doesn’t mean all were evil. Ruth was not evil and she was a Moabite.
  • Anyone can be saved through believing on Jesus Christ. Anyone can change the direction of their family.
  • One verse I want to leave you with as we close out Genesis Chapter 19.

[86] Jude 7 Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.

  • Genesis Chapter 19 is an example of what God will do to people who love fornication and strange flesh.
  • Men with men and women with women is a great sin that God absolutely, without a doubt, HATES.
  • He shows you this over and over throughout the Bible.
  • These sodomites suffered the vengeance of eternal fire. And yes, it will happen again.

Let’s pray.
