[2] The title of the sermon: “THE PARABLE OF THE SOWER.”
The Parable of the Sower Is In Matthew, Mark, and Luke
- The parable of the sower is given in 3 of the 4 Gospel books: Matthew, Mark, and Luke.
- We’re going to go over this parable in detail so you can see the truth in this parable.
- Many false preachers will attempt to use these Scriptures to teach the loss of everlasting life.
- They will say foolish things like, “You can lose everlasting life.” Can you lose everlasting life?
If you could lose everlasting life, this wouldn’t make any sense at all. Yet, everyone believes this.
- If God tells you that you have everlasting life right now, and then took it away:
- Did you ever have everlasting life? No, you didn’t.
- But God tells you that you have everlasting life once you believe on Jesus Christ.
- If you have everlasting life right now, there’s nothing you can do in the future to lose it.
With that said, let’s look at the parable of the sower in Matthew, Mark, and Luke today.
- We look to Matthew Chapter 13, Mark Chapter 4, and Luke Chapter 8.
- We’ll read Matthew Chapter 13 first, then Mark Chapter 4, and then Luke Chapter 8.
- We’re then going to compare each of the Gospels verse by verse.
- When we do this, you’ll easily see the truth of this parable. We use Scriptures to learn the Scriptures.
- Let’s go to Matthew Chapter 13 verse 18 through 23 to start.
[3] Matthew 13:18-19 Hear ye therefore the parable of the sower. 19 When any one heareth the word of the kingdom, and understandeth it not, then cometh the wicked one, and catcheth away that which was sown in his heart. This is he which received seed by the way side.
- The first man in this parable hears the word, doesn’t understand it, and it’s caught away.
- This is the man which received seed by the way side. We will see 4 different men in this parable.
- This is the first man. Let’s keep reading.
[4] Matthew 13:20-21 But he that received the seed into stony places, the same is he that heareth the word, and anon with joy receiveth it; 21 Yet hath he not root in himself, but dureth for a while: for when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, by and by he is offended.
- The second man here received the word with joy. He has no root in himself. He endures for a while.
- And then he is offended because of tribulation or persecution.
[5] Matthew 13:22 He also that received seed among the thorns is he that heareth the word; and the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful.
- This is the third man that received seed among the thorns. He hears the word.
- But the cares of this world and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word and he becomes unfruitful.
[6] Matthew 13:23 But he that received seed into the good ground is he that heareth the word, and understandeth it; which also beareth fruit, and bringeth forth, some an hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.
- This fourth man received the word, understands it, and bears much fruit.
- So, again, 4 men are seen in the parable of the sower.
- And yes, we’re going to go over this 2 more times in the Gospel of Mark and the Gospel of Luke.
- Let’s go to Mark Chapter 4 verses 14 through 20 this time.
[7] Mark 4:14 The sower soweth the word.
- We know that the sower is sowing the word of God.
[8] Mark 4:15 And these are they by the way side, where the word is sown; but when they have heard, Satan cometh immediately, and taketh away the word that was sown in their hearts.
- The word is sown. The word is heard. Satan takes away the word that was sown in their hearts.
- These are they by the way side. We know this is talking about more than one person.
- This is talking about people who heard the word, but it’s taken away from them.
- This matches the first example in Matthew Chapter 13 perfectly.
[9] Mark 4:16-17 And these are they likewise which are sown on stony ground; who, when they have heard the word, immediately receive it with gladness; 17 And have no root in themselves, and so endure but for a time: afterward, when affliction or persecution ariseth for the word’s sake, immediately they are offended.
- Here’s the second example of four in this parable.
- These people are on stony ground. They immediately receive the word with gladness.
- But they have no root in themselves. They endure but for a time.
- When, AFTERWARD, affliction or persecution arises for the sake of the word, they are offended.
[10] Mark 4:18-19 And these are they which are sown among thorns; such as hear the word, 19 And the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in, choke the word, and it becometh unfruitful.
- Here’s the third example of four in the parable of the sower.
- The word is sown among the thorns. They hear the word.
- But the cares of this world, riches, lusts, and other things enter in and choke the word.
- They become unfruitful because they allow all of these other things to rise above the word.
[11] Mark 4:20 And these are they which are sown on good ground; such as hear the word, and receive it, and bring forth fruit, some thirtyfold, some sixty, and some an hundred.
- Here is the fourth and final example in the Gospel of Mark.
- These are they which are sown on good ground. They hear the word. They receive the word.
- They bring forth fruit. This is the example we need to follow.
- Now, let’s go to the 3rd repetition of this parable in the Gospel of Luke.
- We’ll look to Luke Chapter 8 verses 11 through 15.
[12] Luke 8:11 Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God.
- Now we know for sure that the seed being sowed here is the word of God.
- The 3 Gospels, when compared side by side, will teach you everything you need to know.
- When you’re reading Scripture in one of the Gospels, it’s always necessary to compare the same passages in the other Gospels.
- Not all of the stories have parallel passages but many of them do. They are there for a reason.
[13] Luke 8:12 Those by the way side are they that hear; then cometh the devil, and taketh away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved.
- This Scripture is a key to understanding the entire Bible and especially salvation.
- Many people will attempt to say that Jesus taught a different Gospel than Paul.
- These people are called dispensationalists. They are foolish and false preachers.
- One of them just attempted to teach me this on You Tube. Been there done that.
- I have much experience with dispensationalism, and it’s pure trash. Don’t fall for it.
The Parable of the Sower Proves Dispensationalism Is a False Doctrine
Here’s just one example in this ONE VERSE that disproves dispensationalism. This parable comes from Jesus.
- This is the first example of four in the parable of sower in the Gospel of Luke.
- This first example is the people by the way side. They hear the word of God.
- The devil comes and takes it away. If he didn’t, they might BELIEVE IT and be saved.
- If you will believe the Gospel of Jesus Christ, which is the word of God, you will be saved.
- If you simply believe on Jesus Christ, you will be saved. Nothing else is required.
- “Lest they believe and be saved.” WHAT ELSE COULD THAT MEAN? Let’s keep going in Luke.
[14] Luke 8:13 They on the rock are they, which, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, which for a while believe, and in time of temptation fall away.
- Here’s the second example. These people are on the rock. They hear the word of God.
- They receive the word of God with joy. They have no root. They believe for a while.
- But in a time of temptation they fall away. The previous example tells you that these people are saved.
- They heard the word, they received it with joy, they believed, but they fall away after believing.
- Once they believed, the were saved with everlasting life. People fall away constantly after being saved.
[15] Luke 8:14 And that which fell among thorns are they, which, when they have heard, go forth, and are choked with cares and riches and pleasures of this life, and bring no fruit to perfection.
- Here’s the third example. These people hear the word of God and go forth.
- They are among thorns. They are choked with the cares, riches, and pleasures of this life.
- They bring no fruit to perfection. Perfection is being sinless in your soul.
- They bring no others to perfection. Let’s keep going.
[16] Luke 8:15 But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience.
- And there’s the fourth and final example in the Gospel of Luke for this parable.
- These people are on good ground. They hear the word, they keep the word, and they bring forth fruit.
Now, we’ve been through all 3 accounts of the parable of the sower in Matthew, Mark, and Luke.
- Many false preachers will take this parable and turn into many things that it isn’t.
- Many people will say that one one of these people are saved.
- For example, many Southern Baptists now preach a false gospel that includes works.
They will take the example you see right there and preach that ONLY people who bring forth fruit will be saved.
- Is this the truth of the Bible? They will preach that you must have good works to go with your faith.
- They will say that you will do good works if you are saved. YOU WILL BE LIKE A ROBOT.
- They will preach that you will not fall away during times of temptation: “You will be perfect.”
- Obviously, this is false because the entire Bible teaches us different.
Now, we’re going to look at the parable of the sower in even more detail.
- We’re going to put the Scriptures from the 3 gospel books side by side and learn even more.
- We’ll go verse by verse through each of the Scriptures and 4 examples.
- Let’s start at the very beginning of the parable.
[17]
- We have a sower sowing the seed which is the word of God.
- When you preach the word of God to someone, you are sowing the seed.
[18]
- You can preach the word of God to someone and sow the seed. They don’t understand it.
- You sow the word. They hear it. They don’t understand. These are by the way side.
- The devil comes and takes the word. He’s called the wicked one in Matthew.
- He’s called Satan in Mark. He’s called the devil in Luke. He takes away the word.
It’s very important that someone understand what you’re preaching to them.
- If not, Satan will immediately catcheth away or taketh away the word.
- The seed or word of God was sowed within that person. They haven’t yet believed.
- If Satan didn’t come immediately and take it away, they may have a chance to be saved.
- They may remember what you preached to them and believe and be saved.
Group 1 In The Parable of the Sower Are Not Saved
So, here’s the question to you. This is group number 1 in the parable of the sower. Is this group of people saved?
- The Bible clearly teaches us that this group of people are not saved. They haven’t yet believed.
- Make sure you see this. They haven’t believed on Jesus Christ. They heard the word of God.
- They didn’t understand it, and they didn’t believe it. Satan takes it away from them.
- Again, group #1 in the parable of the sower does not include saved people. Let’s go to group #2.
[19]
- This is group #2. They are on stony places, stony ground, or rock.
- Think of a seed being sown in this type of ground. Will anything grow? Yes, it does grow.
- I’ll prove this in a minute. Some people will say nothing ever grew. But it did.
- They heard the word, they gladly received the word with joy, and they do so immediately.
- Anon means quickly, soon, or immediately as Mark 4:16 tells us.
Are these people saved? What does Luke 8:13 say there on the right? Let’s read it again.
- “They on the rock are they, which, when they hear, receive the word with joy.”
- “And these have no root, which for a while believe, and in time of temptation fall away.”
Are these people saved after reading this? Most so-called “Christians” will say no.
- They will say that these people have no root and they are not saved.
- But Luke 8:13 says, “Which for a while believe.” Luke 8:12 says, “Lest they believe and be saved.”
- Well, this group of people, group #2, believed for a while. Are they saved?
- Of course they are saved because they heard the word, received the word, and believed. They are saved.
I want to go over the parable of the sower earlier in Matthew Chapter 13 when not fully explained by Jesus Christ.
- You’ll find this earlier in Matthew Chapter 13. Then Jesus explains it in the verses we’ve been going over.
- We’ll look to Matthew 13:3-8 to start. We’ll also read Mark 4:3-8 and Luke 8:5-8.
- I want you to pay close attention to what happens with each of the 4 groups of people.
- Especially tell me if there is a plant growing for group 2 on the stony ground.
[20] Matthew 13:3-8 And he spake many things unto them in parables, saying, Behold, a sower went forth to sow; (GROUP 1) 4 And when he sowed, some seeds fell by the way side, and the fowls came and devoured them up: (GROUP 2) 5 Some fell upon stony places, where they had not much earth: and forthwith they sprung up, because they had no deepness of earth: 6 And when the sun was up, they were scorched; and because they had no root, they withered away. (GROUP 3) 7 And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprung up, and choked them: (GROUP 4) 8 But other fell into good ground, and brought forth fruit, some an hundredfold, some sixtyfold, some thirtyfold.
- Without the perfect explanation and teaching from Jesus Christ, we might get this parable wrong.
- So many preachers get this all wrong. But with Jesus teaching us, we can get this right.
- He explains the parable of the sower correctly. He is perfect in every way. He gives us the truth.
[21] Mark 4:3-8 Hearken; Behold, there went out a sower to sow: (GROUP 1) 4 And it came to pass, as he sowed, some fell by the way side, and the fowls of the air came and devoured it up. (GROUP 2) 5 And some fell on stony ground, where it had not much earth; and immediately it sprang up, because it had no depth of earth: 6 But when the sun was up, it was scorched; and because it had no root, it withered away. (GROUP 3) 7 And some fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up, and choked it, and it yielded no fruit. (GROUP 4) 8 And other fell on good ground, and did yield fruit that sprang up and increased; and brought forth, some thirty, and some sixty, and some an hundred.
- Again, we see in Group 2 that the seed falls on stony ground. There’s not much earth there.
- Where is it being sowed? It’s being sowed spiritually within the person.
- There is no depth there. But immediately it sprang up. But it is scorched. It had no root growing deep.
- And so it withered away. The person in this group is saved but doesn’t continue to grow.
[22] Luke 8:5-8 (GROUP 1) A sower went out to sow his seed: and as he sowed, some fell by the way side; and it was trodden down, and the fowls of the air devoured it. (GROUP 2) 6 And some fell upon a rock; and as soon as it was sprung up, it withered away, because it lacked moisture. (GROUP 3) 7 And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprang up with it, and choked it. (GROUP 4) 8 And other fell on good ground, and sprang up, and bare fruit an hundredfold. And when he had said these things, he cried, He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.
- In group 2, we have people who believed. The plant sprung up within them.
- But they didn’t continue in the word because of persecution and tribulation.
- This is the group of saved people who don’t continue in the word of God.
Group 2 In The Parable of the Sower Are Saved
When you won’t continue in the word of God, you will be offended. You will stop.
- You won’t bear any fruit, but you were saved. This is group #2. The Bible tells us they were saved.
- But they fall away from Jesus Christ after being saved. They don’t continue to follow Him.
- They don’t continue to be disciples of Jesus Christ. But they’re going to heaven.
The entire Bible, from front to back, teaches us that believing in God is all it takes to be saved.
- And when I say believe, I mean that you believe in His promises.
- You believe that Jesus Christ ALONE can save you right now and give you everlasting life.
- When I say believe, I mean trusting in God. It’s not just believing He exists.
- It’s believing that He can do anything, and that includes saving you from your sins.
[23] Genesis 15:6 And he believed in the LORD; and he counted it to him for righteousness.
[24] Romans 4:3-5 For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness. 4 Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt. 5 But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.
- To be saved, you simply need to hear the word of God and believe in Him.
- When you put your faith in Him, He saves you in a moment.
[25] Romans 4:20-22 He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God; 21 And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform. 22 And therefore it was imputed to him for righteousness.
[26] Romans 4:23-25 Now it was not written for his sake alone, that it was imputed to him; 24 But for us also, to whom it shall be imputed, if we believe on him that raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead; 25 Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification.
- Do we believe that God alone can save us without our works? Yes, we do. We only need to believe in God.
- So, listen, I am sowing the seed right now just as the parable of the sower. Which group will you be in?
- Will you be in group 1, 2, 3, or 4? Are you hearing the word? Are you receiving the word?
- Are you believing the word? Hear this word from Jesus Christ.
[27] Galatians 3:6-9 Even as Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness. 7 Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham. 8 And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed. 9 So then they which be of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham.
- From Abraham all the way to moment we’re in right now, all people are saved the same way.
- There is no difference in the people who are in heaven from the Old Testament to the New Testament.
- They all believed “IN” God. The gospel was preached unto Abraham.
- Did Abraham know God would send a Savior? Yes, he did. And he believed that promise.
- And when he believed it, he was saved. God imputed righteousness unto Abraham.
- It wasn’t Abraham’s righteousness. It is the righteousness of God that He gives to us all.
[28] Galatians 3:14 That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.
[29] James 2:23 And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God.
- We take what God says, and we believe what He says.
- In the parable of the sower, Jesus is teaching all of these same things.
[30] John 6:47 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.
- When the people in Group #2 believe, they are saved.
- Even though they don’t continue in God’s word, they are saved.
- Do you always continue in God’s word? Do you never sin? Do you never fall away for a few minutes?
- Do you never fall away for a few hours, or a few days, or a few months, or a few years?
- Have you never done that in your life? Let’s be truthful here. EVERYONE FALLS AWAY AT TIMES.
Jesus says that he who believes has everlasting life. Do you believe on Jesus Christ?
- Do you believe that He can save you all on His own? If so, then you believe ON Jesus Christ.
- If you don’t think Jesus can do it on His own, then you don’t believe.
- If you think all of your works like water baptism are included, then you don’t believe.
- You believe in other things. You don’t believe “IN” Jesus Christ.
- You don’t believe God can do what He says without your help through your “wonderful” works.
- If you have never believed in Jesus Christ alone, then you aren’t saved.
- If you have believed in Jesus Christ alone, then you have everlasting life.
Group #2 in the parable of the sower consists of saved people who don’t continue in God’s word.
- King Saul is an example of this group. He heard the word. He received it with joy.
- He believed the word. He was saved. But he didn’t continue in God’s word. He died for that.
- He went to heaven. He’s in heaven right now. The Bible says so. We believe what God says.
[31] Romans 5:9-10 Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him. 10 For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.
- We are only saved through Jesus Christ and nothing else. We put all our faith in Him ALONE.
- And then He saves us at that moment and gives us everlasting life. That’s the end of salvation.
- Then, afterwards, we all may go different directions. But we SHOULD continue in Jesus Christ.
- We may fall away for short periods of time, but we get back to following Jesus Christ.
- Those who are saved and fall away into other things are still saved “IF” they believed previously.
[32] 1 John 5:13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.
- That’s very clear Scripture. Is it not? When I believe on Jesus Christ, I have eternal life.
- But yet, false preachers who can’t understand parables will attempt to take them and teach the opposite of very clear Scripture.
- The parable of the sower is easy to understand when you listen to the words of Jesus Christ.
- Let’s go to group #3.
[33]
- Now, is this third group of people saved? They received the seed. This means they are saved.
- How else do you know that are saved? The Scriptures say they become unfruitful.
- They were fruitful, but they become unfruitful. And you can’t be fruitful without being saved first.
Group 3 In The Parable of the Sower Are Saved People
They become unfruitful because they allow other cares, riches, and pleasures to make them unfruitful.
- At points in their life, king David and king Solomon would be examples of this.
- We all allow this to happen at times. We allow other cares to overtake the truly important things.
- But yes, these people are clearly saved if you listen to the Scriptures.
- Look at the end of Luke 8:14. “And bring no fruit forth to perfection.”
- This means after they had already brought some fruit forth to perfection.
- But then they allow other things to stop them. Here’s an example of a man in this group.
[34] 2 Timothy 4:9-11 Do thy diligence to come shortly unto me: 10 For Demas hath forsaken me, having loved this present world, and is departed unto Thessalonica; Crescens to Galatia, Titus unto Dalmatia. 11 Only Luke is with me. Take Mark, and bring him with thee: for he is profitable to me for the ministry.
- Paul says that Demas forsook him because he loved this present world more.
- Demas was a saved man. But he allowed other cares to take him away.
Many false preachers will say people like Demas are not saved because they didn’t bear fruit to perfection.
- Or, they’ll even say that they didn’t continue to bear fruit to perfection.
- A saved soul is perfection because Jesus makes your soul perfect.
- If you compare Scripture to Scripture, you’ll see that they became unfruitful.
- Must you bear fruit to be saved? Will all saved people bear fruit? What must you do to be saved?
[35] Acts 16:30-31 And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved? 31 And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.
- There is no Scripture that says you must bear fruit to be saved. Jesus never says this.
- The Holy Spirit never says this. God never says this once.
- There is no Scripture that says, “You must bear fruit to be saved.” Doesn’t exist.
If you become unfruitful, this doesn’t mean you aren’t saved.
- If you aren’t preaching the Gospel and reaching people, this doesn’t mean you aren’t saved.
- What must I do to be saved? “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved.”
- Hundreds of VERY CLEAR Scriptures say the exact same thing.
Group 3, in the parable of the sower, are saved people. And remember, these are parables.
- They are more difficult to understand than CLEAR SCRIPTURES.
- But false preachers will key in on the parables and misunderstand everything they are saying.
- They will continue to preach their false doctrine that doesn’t match with clear Scripture.
- Let’s move to the final group in the parable of the sower.
[36]
- This is where we all want to be as often as possible throughout our life.
- We want to be on the good ground. We hear the words from God just as we’re doing right now.
- We’re reading His words. We’re learning. We’re taking what we learn and put it into action.
- We allow His words to change the way we live our lives. We follow His ways. We forsake other ways.
Group 4 In The Parable of the Sower Are Saved People
And when we do that, we bear fruit. Hear, understand, do. We keep His words. We are patient.
- We do what He asks. We have trials, troubles, and persecution BUT we keep standing with God.
- We are strong in the faith, and we don’t allow others to turn us from this faith.
- This is group 4 who is standing on good ground. They grow deep roots in the word of God.
- They know His words. They are not deceived by false teaching because they know His words.
That’s it for understanding the parable of the sower.
- Always remember that there are 4 gospel books with many of the same accounts.
- Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. Look to each one and compare Scripture to Scripture.
- The disciples even ask Jesus after he tells them the parable why He is using parables.
[37] Matthew 13:10-13 And the disciples came, and said unto him, Why speakest thou unto them in parables? 11 He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given. 12 For whosoever hath, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance: but whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken away even that he hath. 13 Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand.
- So, look, I already know what false preacher and teachers of false doctrine will say to me.
- They will say, “You obviously don’t understand the parable of the sower.”
- They will say, “Only one of those people were saved and that was the one on good ground.”
- And I will tell you right now, false preachers, I understand. I listen to God and His words.
- You aren’t getting it. You aren’t understanding. It’s not difficult if you would just give in to God’s words.
- Understanding is not given to you because you twist parables and ignore very clear Scriptures.
None of us are perfect. None of us will ever be perfect as long as we are in this flesh.
- Once we have faith IN Jesus Christ, we are saved and given everlasting life.
- After that, we SHOULD do good works. We should be baptized in water. We should obey Jesus.
- We should follow Jesus. We won’t be perfect. We will fall away at times.
- It might be a few seconds, or it might be a few years. Hopefully, it’s not a few years.
- Hopefully you get back on track as quickly as possible when you sin.
- If we had to obey and endure to the end for salvation, as false preacher teach, none would make it.
To summarize and end this sermon on the parable of the sower explained correctly:
- There are 4 groups of people in this parable. The seed is being sowed by the sower to all 4 groups.
- The seed is the word of God. This is preaching. How will one hear without a preacher?
- This should be you sowing the word of God. 3 of 4 groups are saved.
- There’s another group not mentioned here that is the majority. It’s a group that won’t hear at all.
- But, of these 4 groups, 3 of them are saved. There’s only one group that isn’t saved.
If You Believe And Then Believe Not, You Still Have Everlasting Life
Group 1 hears the word but doesn’t understand. The devil comes and catches away those words.
- This seed is received by the way side. This first group of people do not believe on Jesus Christ.
- Group 2 receives the word with gladness. They believe for a while but fall away in temptation.
- They don’t continue to believe because they are offended when persecution arises.
- But, they believed and they are saved at the moment they believe.
- If you’re saved with everlasting life, and then you don’t believe any longer, the sin of unbelief is forgiven.
[38] 2 Timothy 2:13 If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself.
- If we are saved, we are IN Jesus Christ. We are in Jesus Christ once we believe IN Him.
- It’s a one-time event. Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved.
- Sometimes we may question things or have unbelief.
- “If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself.” We are already in Him.
- We can’t be removed. No one can pluck us out of His hands including us. We are His. He abides faithful.
[39] Mark 9:24 And straightway the father of the child cried out, and said with tears, Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief.
- We all need help with unbelief. We are not perfect in this flesh. But we are saved. Why?
- Because we have believed “ON” the Lord Jesus Christ. We’ve put all out trust in HIM ALONE.
- Group 2 is saved because they believed. The parable of the sower in Luke Chapter 8 proves this.
Group 3 is saved because they brought forth fruit at one time, or they are not bringing forth fruit now.
- They allow the cares of this world, riches, and other things to choke the word.
- But they themselves are saved. They don’t have good works. They aren’t doing anything good.
[40] 1 Corinthians 3:11-13 For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ. 12 Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble; 13 Every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is.
[41] 1 Corinthians 3:14-15 If any man’s work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. 15 If any man’s work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.
- The Bible teaches right there that good works or FRUIT is not required to be saved.
- All of this man’s works burn up because they aren’t good. And yet, he himself shall be saved.
- Why? Because his foundation is Jesus Christ. The Bible says so. The man goes to heaven without FRUIT.
- Listen, false preachers can’t argue with the entire Bible. I could go on and on with hundreds of Scriptures.
- One is enough, but God gives us hundreds to backup the correct doctrine.
Group 4 in the parable of the sower is saved. Why?
- These are they who hear the word, receive it, and bring forth fruit.
- They are not only saved, but they are doing good works. They keep God’s words.
- They do not allow these other cares to stop them. They continue in the word of God.
- That’s where you want to be. Let’s stay there and continue in God’s words. Let’s take action too.
Let’s pray.
