Lazy People Love This Scripture

• We’re going to a Scripture that everyone loves to use when they want you to do everything for them.
• “Well we’re supposed to bear one another’s burdens.”
• Most of the time, when someone quotes this Scripture to you, they want you to take all their burdens.
• They are looking for you to bear 100% of their burdens. They have no worry at all.
• Why? Because they want you to have all their burdens. They are such giving people.

They aren’t doing anything to help, but they want you to take it all for them.

• The Scriptures don’t say to take all of their burdens onto yourself. They’re looking for you to fall.
• They are looking to take you down with them. It’s so obvious, and we have to wake up and see this.
• Let’s read the Scriptures and study them today so someone doesn’t deceive you in your life.
• Don’t allow someone to take you down because you think you’re supposed to take all their burdens.
• People will talk you into this. They are very good at this. Let’s see how they twist the Scriptures.

[3] Galatians 6:1-2 Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted. 2 Bear ye one another’s burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.

• If a man be overtaken in a fault, we are to help restore that person in the spirit of meekness.
• We are to be meek when attempting to help someone. What does that mean? Here’s the definition.

• Mild of temper, soft, gentle, not easily irritated, yielding.
• The very first use of the word meek is in Numbers Chapter 12. Let’s look at that.

[5] Numbers 12:1-3 And Miriam and Aaron spake against Moses because of the Ethiopian woman whom he had married: for he had married an Ethiopian woman. 2 And they said, Hath the LORD indeed spoken only by Moses? hath he not spoken also by us? And the LORD heard it. 3 (Now the man Moses was very meek, above all the men which were upon the face of the earth.)

• Moses was the MEEKEST man upon the face of the earth. He was mild and gentle.
• He didn’t get angry easily. Moses was very meek. We see that Jesus is meek.

[6] Matthew 11:29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.

[7] Matthew 21:5 Tell ye the daughter of Sion, Behold, thy King cometh unto thee, meek, and sitting upon an ass, and a colt the foal of an ass.

[8] 1 Peter 3:4 But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.

• Jesus Himself is meek. Moses is meek. Do you ever see them get angry, though? Yes you do.

[9] Exodus 32:19-20 And it came to pass, as soon as he came nigh unto the camp, that he saw the calf, and the dancing: and Moses’ anger waxed hot, and he cast the tables out of his hands, and brake them beneath the mount. 20 And he took the calf which they had made, and burnt it in the fire, and ground it to powder, and strawed it upon the water, and made the children of Israel drink of it.

• Moses became very angry. Why? Because they were sinning against God Almighty.
• He grinds up the calf they made, burns it in the fire, grinds it into powder, puts in the water, and Moses makes them drink it.
• You might say: “Well, he’s not being very meek so he must be doing wrong.” No, you would be wrong.
• What about Jesus Christ who is God? What about Him? What about God? Does He get angry?

[10] John 2:15-16 And when he had made a scourge of small cords, he drove them all out of the temple, and the sheep, and the oxen; and poured out the changers’ money, and overthrew the tables; 16 And said unto them that sold doves, Take these things hence; make not my Father’s house an house of merchandise.

• If you read any of the Bible, you’ll see that God gets angry, but we know that He is meek, gentle, kind.
• But when does God get angry? He’s patient with us, but He gets angry when we know better.
• He gets angry when we sin against Him over and over again. He is meek, patient, kind, and longsuffering.
• But He gets angry when we sin against Him. Is it wrong to get angry when someone is sinning? No.
• He is patient with us while we sin, but that patience reaches an end.
• With that said, now let’s read Galatians Chapter 6 verses 1 and 2 once again.

[11] Galatians 6:1-2 Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted. 2 Bear ye one another’s burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.

• A man is overtaken in a fault. BRETHREN or ye which are spiritual are to help restore that person.
• We are to use meekness. We are to be gentle. That doesn’t mean lying to the person.
• That doesn’t mean being a fake “Christian” like you see so many times in the churches today.
• This doesn’t mean giving that person everything they want in their flesh.
• We are to use the word of God to guide that person and bring them back to God.
• But some people won’t want to hear that. They won’t want to hear the truth of what’s happening.
• Don’t allow them to tempt you. CONSIDER THYSELF lest thou also be tempted. Be careful.

This is very clear Scripture that we are to bear one another’s burdens. Look closely at verse 2.

• Bear ye one another’s burdens and so fulfill the law of Jesus Christ our Savior.
• He bore all of our burdens. He bore all of our sins.
• We are to help our brethren THE RIGHT WAY when they are overtaken by sin.
• I want to make sure we aren’t confused by what it means to bear one another’s burdens today.

You bear burdens many times in the spirit of meekness, and you tell them the truth along the way.

• You’re attempting to guide them in the right ways. But they aren’t listening and aren’t hearing.
• You help them as much as you possibly can.
• But it continues to get worse and worse because you’re helping them too much.
• You’re giving them what they want. So they rely on you more and more.
• That’s not doing what the Scriptures actually mean. Then you’re overtaken as well as them.
• I’ve seen it happen too many times in my life. YOU MUST BE CAREFUL when doing these things.
• You must consider yourself lest thou also be tempted.

Do You Want Everyone Else To Take Care Of You?

There are people who want everyone else to take care of them while they do nothing.

• There are men who are supposed to be the leaders of their homes who want you to take care of them.
• They want you to give them everything for nothing. It’s happening all over the world right now.
• They are very happy when they hear these Scriptures. “Bear one another’s burdens.”
• They automatically think they’re going to use the Scriptures against Christians to get what they want.
• There are people who call around to all the churches week after week asking for handouts.
• But they don’t do anything for themselves.

They get excited when they read certain Scriptures. These people are going to bear my burdens.

• “YES, I DON’T HAVE TO DO ANYTHING. THEY ARE GOING TO DO EVERYTHING FOR ME.”
• You have to be very careful with people like this. They are evil and wicked people.
• Understand that right now. I wouldn’t take all my burdens and try to bring you down with me.
• I’m not going to do that. THESE ARE MY BURDENS. I’m going to handle them with God leading.
• I’m not going to take all of my burdens and dump them all on you. I want to give you an example.

When I was in college, everyone in the class knew that I would get a team project done long before it was due.

• I don’t like to wait until the last minute. I like to get things done early and then make improvements.
• I like to plan ahead so something doesn’t become a great burden at the very end of the project.
• Since everyone knew I would do most of the work, they wanted to be on my team.
• “YES, I AM ON HIS TEAM. I won’t have to do anything and get a good grade.”

We would come up with a plan for everyone to do their part and I would end up doing it all. And they knew that.

• And I knew that. Why would I end up doing all of the project?
• Because they would wait until the last day or two, and I don’t work that way. Drives me crazy.
• And I wanted a good grade. I wanted to do the best I could possibly do at all times.
• They would end up with a great grade and did pretty much nothing. Good deal for them.

They would allow me to take the burden of the entire project. That was a very good deal for them.

• And I’m accustomed to doing this very thing in my life.
• But notice what the Scriptures say EXACTLY. We are to BEAR YE ONE ANOTHER’S BURDENS.
• For some reason, these people don’t understand what that means. Let’s see what this means.
• If there were 4 of us on the team, 25% of the burden would go to each team member.
• 1 of 4 parts of the project would go to each team member. 25% to each team member.
• That’s an equal amount of work. 25% of the burden to each team member. Keep that in mind.
• That would be an equal share of the entire burden of the project.
• We would work together to bear the burden of the project.

[12] Galatians 6:3-4 For if a man think himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceiveth himself. 4 But let every man prove his own work, and then shall he have rejoicing in himself alone, and not in another.

• You can help another man but not because you think you’re better. You aren’t better. There’s none good.
• We don’t stand over someone else and act as if we are better, but we do tell them the truth.
• We are not to do everything for someone else because we think we’re better. If so, we’re doing wrong.
• You have to allow them to go through their own problems. Work out your own problems.
• Don’t just do everything for them.
• If we tell a man the truth, and he finally gets it and starts working hard, that’s what we want.
• When we attempt to do this, the man may get mad. But we tell him the truth.

“But let EVERY MAN prove HIS OWN WORK.” Let me say that again. Let every man prove HIS OWN WORK.

• Why? When the team gets an A+ on the project, THEN shall that man have rejoicing in himself alone.
• I don’t want all the rejoicing on my own. We are here to help each other. You don’t want all the rejoicing.
• We want to share the responsibility, get this done together, and rejoice together as a team.
• Another example is winning people to Jesus Christ, baptizing them, teaching them all things.
• That is our responsibility or burden as Christians. This is our number one goal.
• Our number one goal is not to give everyone money that asks for it.

In school, the people on my team could rejoice because they all got a great grade on the project.

• It doesn’t work that way with God. The teacher didn’t care who did the work and never asked.
• Well, God does care who is doing the work and sees everything.
• He knows when a man is not working and is getting paid by the government for doing nothing.
• He knows when a man is taking disability but that man isn’t disabled.
• He knows when someone in the military claims disability to get more benefits but isn’t disabled at all.

God isn’t telling us that it’s okay for all the team members to want one person to do everything.

• It wasn’t okay for me to do all the team projects for the 7 years I was in college.
• Did you know I never had one team member in college that really helped me on a project?
• And we had tons of team projects. I usually did the huge majority of the work.
• Did I attempt to get people to join in the work? Yes I did, but I can’t make them do anything.
• I can’t make a man go out and work. I can’t stop that man from asking for money constantly.

I’ve heard these things over and over throughout my life.

• “Well, I never ask anyone for money.” What about the past 10 times that you’ve asked me?
• Did those not count? “I never ask anyone for money.” That’s what they say when they’re asking you.
• They also say: “This is embarrassing that I have to ask you for money, but can I have some money?”
• “I promise I’ll pay you back even though I’m not working.” How are you going to pay someone back?
• You aren’t working. That’s why you’re asking for money.

There are people who love to say, “The Bible says you are to bear my burdens. You are supposed to help me.”

• The Scriptures say, “Bear ye one another’s burdens.” But, did they read the next verse?
• Did you read the whole chapter? Did they attempt to understand what God actually means?
• Or, are they taking God’s words and attempting to use His words for personal gain?
• People LOVE to do that all the time. This is how they shame so-called “Christians” into giving them money.
• The so-called “Christians” who don’t know the Scriptures will fall for this.
• Today, I’m going to show you how to stop falling for these things.
• KNOW THE SCRIPTURES. Stop falling for the lies and allowing people to deceive you.

Are you sitting at home doing nothing while you’re asking others for money? Think about that.

• Does it make you feel bad that you’re doing nothing while they are out working hard all day?
• And you want the hard-earned wages that they worked for?
• If you think that’s okay, you need to re-think what’s going on here and go to the Scriptures.

Guess who was working while you were sitting at home doing nothing? Everyone else.

• Think about that. All those hours of hard work for the other person while you were doing nothing.
• Is that fair to the person who is working so hard? Do you think that’s what God wants? REALLY?
• And then you get angry because the person working tells you, “No,” when you ask for money?
• God doesn’t tell us to give money to people who won’t work. He never says this. I’ll show you today.
• You MUST keep reading in Galatians Chapter 6. Don’t stop at BEAR YE ONE ANOTHER’S BURDENS.

[13] Galatians 6:5 For every man shall bear his own burden.

• Same thing as the team projects in school. Each one of those team members were to do 25% of the work.
• There were 4 of us. If I complete my 25% of the work, I’m done with my part. Do I just stop there?
• When one of the other team members is working hard but having trouble with something, I am to step in and help that person who is having difficulty.
• But, am I to step in and do everything for them? No, they take on their own part of the project.

I can step in and help bear their burden. I might contribute a couple percent to their part of 25%.

• If they’re really trying and can’t figure something out, I will step in and do even more to help them.
• But not if they won’t do anything on their own. Not if they won’t give it a good shot.
• Next project, when I’m having a little trouble with something they know better than me, they step in and help me.
• They don’t do it all for me. I wouldn’t let that happen. My burden is my burden.
• And I’m going to work hard to take care of my own burden. This is what God commands us in the Bible.
• For example, AS A MAN, don’t think one man is going to take care of all of his family and all of your family.
• BE A MAN. BE STRONG. BE A LEADER. Get up and lead your family. Provide for your family.

If you’re having trouble, I will step in and help you. I’ve done that over and over again. That’s why we’re here.

• But it’s not going to turn in to more and more and more until I have all your burdens.
• That’s not Scriptural. And when we go against the Scriptures, that’s sin. And I don’t want any part in that.

[14] 1 Timothy 5:8 But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.

• I take that Scripture seriously, and I won’t contribute to going against the Scriptures.
• I don’t care if someone gets mad at me for this and pouts like a child.
• Moses was very meek but got angry when sin wouldn’t stop. It’s a sin to not take care of your own family.

Yes, I Get Angry When A Man Won’t Get Up And Take Care Of His Family

And I get angry when a man won’t get up and work and take care of his own family.

• I will be patient with that man. I will help that man. I will pay for all their moving expenses.
• I will move all their house and all their possessions to a better place so they can worship God properly.
• They can be closer to a church that teaches the Scriptures and will help them.
• I will send them food when they are sick. I will buy their meals over and over again.
• I will loan them money when the man is working and trying hard.
• But I will not give them money when the man is not working.

I will not give them money when they don’t show up to church for 6 straight weeks.

• It’s not difficult to get up, get in the car, drive, walk 10 steps into the church, and sit down.
• Some people will show up to church just to get some credit with someone in the church.
• Hey, let me tell you this right now, don’t do that for me because I don’t give credit.
• You should be the one getting something out of church because God is here with us.
• “Hey, I’m showing up to church today because I know Jesus is there in the midst of us.”
• “Hey., I’m not going to fall asleep today because I know Jesus is there watching.”

[15] 1 Corinthians 9:25-27 And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible. 26 I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air: 27 But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.

• God tells us to get to work in the Bible. Will we follow God’s plan for us or not.
• If not, life will not work out so well for you.
• God isn’t lazy. He’s always working. He doesn’t sit on the couch and watch TV.
• He doesn’t get disability when he isn’t disabled. He doesn’t ask others for money while He does nothing.
• Paul says right there in verse 26: “I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; SO FIGHT I.”
• As men, we don’t just give up. WE FIGHT. We work for our family. We take care of our family.
• We pray to God, and we ask Him for help. PLEASE GOD, HELP US LEAD OUR FAMILIES THE RIGHT WAY.

[16] 2 Samuel 10:12 Be of good courage, and let us play the men for our people, and for the cities of our God: and the LORD do that which seemeth him good.

• We are to stand up and be men for our people.
• We are not to just sit on the couch and put all our burdens on others. Not going to happen with me.
• I am not going to encourage you to do the same by giving you money for sitting on the couch.
• Instead, I’m going to do my best to wake you up. I’m going to tell you to stand up, get up, and be a man.
• God didn’t give us the spirit of fear, or timidness, or anything even close to that.
• I am not going to baby grown men. God never does this once in the Bible. Not once.

Instead, He gave us the POWER TO BECOME THE SONS OF GOD. Do you understand who your God is?

• HE IS THE ALMIGHTY GOD with all power and all might.
• You are now His son because you’ve believed on Him. Do you understand that?
• You are a son of the Almighty God, and you need to stand up and act like it.

For example, if nothing is wrong with me, I’m not going to sit at home and ask for all of you to give me pity.

• “The sky is falling. The sky is falling. Nothing good ever happens to me.”
• I’m not looking for pity. I won’t act like you aren’t being compassionate because you won’t give me money.
• I’m not going to act like that, and I’m not going to participate in it at all. It’s over and done.
• I won’t allow it to get started that way either.

Most people on welfare, disability, and other free benefits have nothing wrong with them.

• Some need the help, but it’s a very small amount compared to the people taking it.
• What are they doing? Whose paying for all those free benefits?
• They think all the money comes from a magical money tree. It just falls out of the air into their mailbox.
• They believe themselves to be entitled to free money all the time. “YOU ALL OWE ME.”

No, we don’t. You need to get up off your butt and get to work like all of the rest of us.

• FOR EVERY MAN SHALL BEAR HIS OWN BURDEN.
• When you’re bearing your own burden, THEN I will help you. And I’ll help you a lot too.
• If you’re already getting free money from the government for doing nothing, I’m not helping you.

You are already causing a GREATER BURDEN on everyone else. You’re already getting free money.

• Someone else is already bearing 100% of your burden. But that’s not enough. You want more.
• Do you see how that works? We help each other. We don’t take everything from each other.
• We contribute. You aren’t bearing my burdens, but you want to give me 100% of your burdens.

Actually, you want everyone else to take 200% of your burdens so you can go buy all the luxuries you want too.

• “Well, I need my big screen TV. You’re going to buy me that big screen TV whether you like it or not.”
• A family member did that to my sister in Wal-Mart. And then got mad and cussed her the entire way out because she said, “No.”
• “You need to buy me that pressure washer. You need to go do all the work for me while I do nothing.”
• Hey, look, I’ve been through this trash enough in my life. Not going to happen anymore.
• Whatever free money you get, you simply go out and spend it all on luxuries and have nothing left to take care of your family.

“Woe Is Me, Woe Is Me” = Take Action And Get To Work

“Well, I won’t have enough rent money this month. I won’t have enough to pay for my car this month.”

• Did you not think about that? What were you thinking about while you were sitting on the couch?
• I think about these things. God gave us all brains.
• Did you wait until the last minute to think about these things? You’ve made it an even greater burden.
• You waited until the last minute. “Uh oh. Now what am I going to do?”
• “I’ll just see if the church will pay for everything for me. I’ll see if Josh will pay.” Not going to happen.

[17] 1 Chronicles 19:13 Be of good courage, and let us behave ourselves valiantly for our people, and for the cities of our God: and let the LORD do that which is good in his sight.

• Behaving valiantly for your family is not laying in the bed and hoping someone else gives you money.
• “Please God let someone else work for me today and give me the money to feed my family.”
• Do you think that’s what God wants? If so, you haven’t read the Bible and studied the Scriptures.

[18] Ephesians 6:13-16 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. 14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; 15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.

• Notice exactly what this says, “TO STAND. STAND THEREFORE.” Use your feet. Stand up.
• Does verse 14 say, “Sit on the couch therefore? Lay in the bed therefore?” Sure doesn’t.
• God says, “STAND UP. GET UP. GET TO WORK. FIGHT.”

[19] 1 Timothy 6:12 Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.

• “FIGHT,” God says. Don’t just give up and lay on the couch and eat chips. Who paid for those chips?
• Men, are you counting on your wife to make the money?
• Are you counting on your kids to make the money? What are you doing? LEAD your homes.
• That means show your wife and kids what you can do. Show them that you are the leader.
• FIGHT FOR THEM. And don’t give up. Don’t quit. Don’t stop. Show God that you are following Him.

[20] 2 Timothy 2:3 Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.

[21] 2 Timothy 4:7-8 I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: 8 Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.

• Don’t give up, men. BE A GOOD SOLDIER OF JESUS CHRIST. Fight a good fight. Fight for God.
• Stand up for God. FINISH YOUR COURSE. Keep the faith no matter what. Know that God is watching.
• God is there. HE IS WITH YOU. If He is with you, what’s your problem? You don’t have any.
• “But I don’t have enough money to house my family!!!” Then get up and do something about it.

[22] Hebrews 11:32-34 And what shall I more say? for the time would fail me to tell of Gedeon, and of Barak, and of Samson, and of Jephthae; of David also, and Samuel, and of the prophets: 33 Who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions, 34 Quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, waxed valiant in fight, turned to flight the armies of the aliens.

• These men mentioned here didn’t sit on the couch. They used FAITH in God to subdue kingdoms.
• The Scriptures don’t say, “Through faith they subdued their couches. They conquered their couches.”
• “Through faith they conquered a bag of Lay’s potato chips.” The Scriptures don’t say that.
• They subdued KINGDOMS, stopped the mouths of lions, quenched the violence of fire.
• Escaped the edge of the sword, waxed valiant in fight. They were fighters, workers, active, strong.
• When King David was lazy, what happened? While all the other men were fighting, what did he do?
• He’s relaxing and notices Bathsheba. Why? Because he was relaxing while Uriah was out working.
• Uriah was out there fighting for David while David was stealing his wife. BUSYBODY. Do you see that?
• But David didn’t have it so easy after that. He had to work. God put him to work.

[23] Colossians 3:22-24 Servants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh; not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but in singleness of heart, fearing God: 23 And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; 24 Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.

• You aren’t serving God by being lazy and sitting on the couch.
• You serve God when you go to work and do what your boss tells you to do.
• “Go do this.” But I don’t understand why. “Just do it unless it’s something bad.”
• If you work for a thief, then you need to find a new job.
• WORK AS YOU’RE WORKING TO THE LORD AND NOT UNTO MEN. This is the right thing to do.

When you decide you aren’t going to work, you’re hurting your boss, your team, your workplace.

• You’re putting a greater burden on everyone else and nothing on yourself.
• Think about these things. Don’t just think about yourself all the time. Think about others.
• Every time you decide not to work, you are creating more burden for everyone else.
• For your family, friends, church, co-workers, manager, workplace, and more burden for God.
• You aren’t doing what He asked you to do.

There’s this FAKE LOVE out there that likes to GUILT so-called “Christians” into doing everything for someone.

• Does the Bible command us to just give everything to lazy people? No, it doesn’t.
• When you go against the Bible, this is not love.
• When you just give everyone something for nothing, this is not love. Why?
• When I just give out money to people who are able to work but won’t, this is not love.
• This is sin. Why? Because the Bible commands me NOT TO DO THAT. God commands me to say, “NO.”
• Is it easier to just say yes, and not cause a fight? Sure. But I’m going to do what God says.
• And if someone gets mad at me like a spoiled child, then so be it. Let the chips fall where they fall.

[24] 1 John 5:3 For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.

[25] 2 John 6 And this is love, that we walk after his commandments. This is the commandment, That, as ye have heard from the beginning, ye should walk in it.

• If we are to love someone, we are to follow God’s commandments.
• The other person who isn’t working but asking for money won’t think you’re very loving.
• For example, let’s say that I get lazy and I just sit at home and do nothing all day long.
• If I ask you for money, I expect you to tell me NO. I want you to tell me to get up and get to work.
• If you give me money, that’s enabling me to continue to do the same thing.
• I’ll just ask you again when I need some more.

[26] John 14:15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.

[27] John 14:21 He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.

[28] John 15:10 If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father’s commandments, and abide in his love.

[29] John 15:14 Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.

• Whose number 1 in your life? It better be God. It better be Jesus Christ. It better be the Holy Spirit.
• The indwelling of the Holy Spirit leads us if we choose to walk in the Spirit.
• No matter what, I want to be friends with Jesus Christ. I want to do what He commands me to do.
• EVERY MAN SHALL BEAR HIS OWN BURDEN, but we can help each other out.
• This doesn’t mean that a man is going to bear 100% of the burden of another man who won’t work.

[30] 2 Thessalonians 3:1-3 Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may have free course, and be glorified, even as it is with you: 2 And that we may be delivered from unreasonable and wicked men: for all men have not faith. 3 But the Lord is faithful, who shall stablish you, and keep you from evil.

• If you follow God’s commandments, He will keep you from evil.
• When a man continues to ask you to bear all his burdens, you tell him the truth.
• Guess what? He gets mad at you, and you never hear from him again.
• He should love you for telling him the truth, but no, he hates you. God will keep you from evil.
• And notice that we’re at the beginning of 2 Thessalonians Chapter 3.
• The Bible is talking about keeping you away from evil. Do you see this before I continue?
• Make sure you see what this is talking about.

[31] 2 Thessalonians 3:4-5 And we have confidence in the Lord touching you, that ye both do and will do the things which we command you. 5 And the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God, and into the patient waiting for Christ.

• We have confidence that you’ll do what we command you to do. Do you see that?
• We’re being commanded to do something here and that command is coming up next.

[32] 2 Thessalonians 3:6 Now we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye withdraw yourselves from every brother that walketh disorderly, and not after the tradition which he received of us.

• Is this a command? “NOW WE COMMAND YOU, BRETHREN.”
• They say, “We command you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.” That’s a strong commandment.
• Do you understand who Jesus Christ is? He’s the Savior of the world. For brethren, He is their Savior.
• Jesus Himself is commanding us these things.
• He says to withdraw yourselves from every brother that walketh disorderly.
• What is this talking about? WALKING DISORDERLY. Well, the Bible is going to tell us clearly.
• Let’s keep going in 2 Thessalonians Chapter 3.
• And keep in mind that love is following God’s commandments.

[33] 2 Thessalonians 3:7-9 For yourselves know how ye ought to follow us: for we behaved not ourselves disorderly among you; 8 Neither did we eat any man’s bread for nought; but wrought with labour and travail night and day, that we might not be chargeable to any of you: 9 Not because we have not power, but to make ourselves an ensample unto you to follow us.

• This is Paul, Silvanus, and Timotheus writing to the church of the Thessalonians.
• They are writing to a church of saved believers just like us.
• They say, “Follow us. For we behaved not ourselves disorderly among you.”
• What do they mean there? They say, “We didn’t eat your bread for nothing.”
• They’re saying, “We worked hard. We didn’t do nothing and come and eat your bread.”
• They say, “We wrought with LABOR and TRAVAIL night and day.” They worked hard night and day.

The Disciples Of Jesus Christ Were Not Lazy

Make sure you see this. In other words, they weren’t lazy. Why did they work hard?

• That we might not be chargeable to any of you. They didn’t want to owe any of them anything.
• Why? They were setting the example that Jesus Christ wants set. They were showing us how to work.
• Never once does God tell us it’s okay not to work, to not have a job, and be lazy. Not once.

[34] 2 Thessalonians 3:10 For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat.

• In other words, they worked for the food that they ate. THEY WORKED HARD FOR IT.
• Notice exactly what this says because liars will attempt to twist the Scriptures.
• So you need to know the EXACT WORDS. Don’t fall for deception any more.
• “If any would not work, neither should he eat.”

“For even when we were with you, THIS WE COMMANDED YOU, that if any would not work, neither should he eat.”

• Is that not a clear commandment?
• Now, do you think I’m going to give food and money to someone who won’t work?
• If I do, what would you call that? SIN. I don’t want to sin against God when I know a clear commandment.
• I will not go against that commandment. If you’re working hard and can’t feed your family, I’ll help you.
• Understand that. I WILL HELP YOU WHEN YOU’RE WORKING HARD AND TRYING. I will.
• I won’t help you if you’re sitting on the couch at home for weeks doing nothing and collecting free money.
• You’re already receiving free money but that’s not enough. You want me to give you more free money?
• It’s not free. Someone is working for it.

[35] 2 Thessalonians 3:11 For we hear that there are some which walk among you disorderly, working not at all, but are busybodies.

• This entire chapter of the Bible is talking about people walking disorderly because they aren’t working.
• If you ever find yourself sitting on the couch watching TV instead of working a job, you are walking DISORDERLY according to the Scriptures.
• And do you know what doesn’t lie? THE SCRIPTURES. Don’t get mad at me because you’re doing wrong.
• “Well, you just aren’t compassionate. You should give me money when I ask for it.”
• “You shouldn’t judge me for not working. You could have been nicer about it.”
• “Don’t question my leadership because I’m walking disorderly.”

No, listen, I’m judging righteous judgement because I’m using the Scriptures.

• You’re attempting to get me to sin when you want me to help you more when you aren’t working.
• And I take that seriously. I know the Scriptures. You aren’t tricking me or deceiving me. That’s evil.
• God wants us to judge righteous judgement using HIS COMMANDMENTS. He is happy when we do so.
• If someone gets angry when God is happy, what does that tell you? It’s evil. It’s wickedness.
• It’s disorderly. And yes, this is what the Bible teaches. But let’s keep going because this is serious.

The Bible calls these people who won’t work, BUSYBODIES. What does that mean?

• They have time to work out some plan to deceive you because they aren’t doing anything else.
• “Well, I’ll wait until the last minute and then I’ll ask Josh for money because he won’t be able to say no.”
• “My family won’t have a place to live. We won’t have a car to drive because I can’t make the payment.”
• They have plenty of time to think of plans to get you to pay for everything for them.
• They won’t work so they have time to think about how to get you to have pity on them.
• “They will feel so sorry for me that they’ll do everything for me.” That’s an example of what happens.
• Watch these additional commands we get in the next Scriptures.

[36] 2 Thessalonians 3:12 Now them that are such we command and exhort by our Lord Jesus Christ, that with quietness they work, and eat their own bread.

• Do you see this? That person who is asking for money but won’t work is commanded right here.
• What are they commanded to do? They are commanded BY OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST.
• “With quietness they work, and eat their OWN BREAD.” In other words, stop talking trash about others who won’t give you everything you want and get to work.
• In other words, BE QUIET, close your mouth, put your lips together, stop babbling, and get to work.
• Feed your own family. Eat your own bread.

[37] 2 Thessalonians 3:13 But ye, brethren, be not weary in well doing.

• Well doing is following the commandments of God. If someone won’t work, it’s good to not give them money.
• If someone won’t work, it’s good to not support their evil doing.
• And guess what?
• YES, IT’S EVIL TO NOT WORK AND ASK OTHERS FOR MONEY WHEN YOU DIDN’T WORK FOR IT.
• Now, are we to obey all these commandments here?
• Are we to go against these commandments and give people money when they aren’t working?

[38] 2 Thessalonians 3:14-15 And if any man obey not our word by this epistle, note that man, and have no company with him, that he may be ashamed. 15 Yet count him not as an enemy, but admonish him as a brother.

• So you have two sides to these commandments. One for the person who isn’t working.
• And one for the person who is being asked for money by the person who isn’t working.
• Don’t have any company with this man who is walking disorderly, but don’t count him as an enemy.
• What about the man who gives money to someone who won’t work?
• NOTE THAT MAN TOO. Have no company with that man.
• You aren’t to give money to people who won’t work. So, what do we do?
• We tell people the truth. We don’t give people money who won’t work for it.

No Work = No Help = No Money

If someone isn’t working, I’m not going to give that person money. But our government will.

• What does that tell you? Our government is going against the Scriptures, the word of God.
• When I tell people the truth, they are the ones that hate me.
• “No, I’m not giving you money. You need to get up and get to work. Be a leader in your family.”
• “Well, you aren’t being compassionate. I’m not talking to you anymore.”
• Do you see how following the Scriptures takes care of everything?
• “Note that man, and have no company with him.” That’s easy. He won’t talk to you anymore.

If that man would follow the Scriptures, he would see where he was wrong and wouldn’t want an apology.

• He would thank you for telling him the truth and trying to wake him up.
• He wouldn’t want pity. He wouldn’t want people to feel sorry for him.
• He would get up, get to work, take a stand, be a leader, and fight for his family.
• And would I be happy to have him around again? Yes I would. I would love to have him around.

We love each other by following the Scriptures.

• If you don’t love the Scriptures, then I don’t want to be around you.
• If I don’t love the Scriptures, then you shouldn’t want to be around me.
• This is how it works in churches who want to follow God Almighty.
• We keep His commandments. We help each other. We bear burdens.
• We forgive each other when we mess up. We stick together.
• We don’t get angry and hold grudges against each other. We tell each other the truth even when it hurts.
• This is called love. This is what God wants from us. We will help each other.

If you run into problems that you couldn’t help, we will help you.

• If you’ve really been trying, we will help you. It’s just when you stop and give up, we won’t help you.
• God won’t either. He wants you to put all your trust in Him. Do that, and He finds a way for you.
• Be patient because He’s working all things together for you when you’re following His commandments.
• While He’s working those things out, we’re here to help you along the way.
• But we won’t do everything for you and take all your burdens.
