Soul Winning Adventures 11/27/22

Today, we have some good soul winning adventures to share with you. What is soul winning? Soul winning is when we go out and preach the Gospel door to door in an attempt to get people saved.

My partner today was my wife, Pam. I was the speaker and she was the silent partner. She is an amazing partner who keeps me on the right track.

She keeps the handouts for me, carries the back pack, reminds me how many times I’ve knocked on a door, and prays for us while I give the Gospel. She records where we’ve been and takes notes as we go between doors.

Genesis 2:18 And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.

I thank God for the blessing He gave me in Pam. I appreciate her greatly because she does so much to help me each day. I am sure she will be greater than me in the kingdom of heaven, and that’s why I am so nice to her (that was a joke – but I do believe she will have a greater light than mine).

What Scriptures Did I Use Today When Giving the Gospel?

Here’s the order of Scriptures I used today:

  1. Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
  2. Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
  3. Revelation 20:14-15 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. 15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.
  4. Revelation 21:8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.
  5. Romans 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
  6. Acts 16:30-31 And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved? 31 And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.
  7. John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
  8. John 6:47 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.
  9. 1 John 5:13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.

Another Cold, Rainy, Windy Day But Not Too Cold

The weather says it is 52 degrees today but feels like 46 degrees. It felt colder than that with the wind. We are getting wind gusts up to 45 mph and the rain almost goes horizontal.

We didn’t get much rain when we were soul winning but it did drizzle a little when we were walking back to the car.

The sun was not out today. People seemed tired. People seemed cold today.

Here’s a tip. Save an apartment complex for rainy days as most of them are covered at the doors. You can still go soul winning without getting wet.

Let’s take a look at the results for today, 11/27/22.

Soul Winning Results for 11/27/22

Duration: 1:30 PM to 3:15 PM

Total doors knocked = 27 doors
Opened doors = 12 doors
No answer = 13 doors
Presented the Gospel = 2 doors
Salvation‘s = 2 souls

We were able to get the 2 saved souls towards the end of soul winning today. We had no success most of the time, but we kept going.

I was just telling my wife it must not be a good day for winning souls while I knocked on the door of a man. I was wrong. The man listened. During soul winning, things can change very quickly.

I’ve noticed this many times. Things can be going bad and then someone decides they have the time to listen. thank God for this man today. He changed the momentum for us.

The First – A Man – In His 30’s Most Likely

He didn’t seem too interested at first, but I kept asking him easy questions and he started to listen and open up some more.

Some people are listening even when they seem as if they aren’t interested. He did not know how to get to heaven when we started.

I asked him if I could show him the Bible way to heaven according to God’s actual words. He said, “Yes.” We walked through every Scripture together with him.

He answered all the questions. He didn’t understand everlasting life at first, but I explained it to him further. Then he understood and believed.

I explained what it meant to believe in Jesus Christ. I asked him if he believed. He said, “Yes, I believe in Jesus Christ.” I asked, “Are you sure Jesus can save you?” He said, “Yes, I know He can save me.”

He now believes in Jesus Christ. We prayed with him before we left. Told him the next steps and how to get to the website if he wanted to learn more.

We need to remember to take him a King James Bible when we go back next time. We saw him on his phone outside after we left and was hoping he was looking up information on the church website. But, we’ll see. Keep this man in your prayers.

This man smiled really big when I told him he can be happy now! He has everlasting life. He gave me a big hand shake.

The Second – A Man – In His 20’s Most Likely

I thought this man was going to tell us he wasn’t interested at first. I watch body language closely, but I’ve learned I don’t always get it right. Usually, I don’t get it right!

He wasn’t sure that he wanted to listen to the Scriptures. I said something like this, “I want to show you the actual Scriptures from the Bible so you know I’m telling you the truth. If I don’t use the Scriptures, I could be lying to you. I want you to see that I’m telling you the truth.” Then he was interested and wanted to hear the Scriptures. He said, “Okay.”

We stepped through all of the 9 Scriptures that I listed out above and explained each one of them to this man. He answered questions. He understood. I asked him if he believed in Jesus Christ now, and he said, “Yes, I do.” He did not know how to get to heaven before.

He understands and believes in everlasting life now. He put his trust in Jesus Christ today. I explained how Jesus did all the work for him.

Most people think they have to be good and live a good life to get to heaven. I explain that this is not in the Bible anywhere. I tell them that it’s a good thing to do good in your life, but this doesn’t get you to heaven. Jesus Christ gets you to heaven.

We prayed with this man at the end. We gave him the next steps about baptism, information about the church, and more. He did have a King James Bible inside his apartment.

Did Anyone Else Listen?

Yes, we had a few more that said they weren’t interested, but we got some Scripture in to them.

One man (his wife I assume or girlfriend) listened for a few minutes even though he told me that he doesn’t believe in God and is not religious in any way.

I did warn him nicely about death. I said, “Do you believe you will die one day?” He said, “Yes, but I don’t think about it.” I told him that God created him and gave him life. He wants him to go to heaven. We are here to tell you the truth about getting to heaven. He listened, smiled, and was very nice.

But nice doesn’t get you to heaven. I hope maybe he’ll start thinking about what might happen when he dies.

We ran into 2 Baptist men who were saved. One goes to an Independent Fundamental Baptist church that I know. Another is a Southern Baptist. The Southern Baptist man was definitely saved. He says he was saved in 1972 if I remember correctly. I still asked him questions. He is a saved man. I’ll see these 2 men in heaven one day.

A couple of people told us they would watch the video on how to make it to heaven on the website because they didn’t have time right now. One said her daughter was sick and she was taking care of her while the others were cooking or doing something else.

We did plant a few tiny seeds with some of those people.

What Kind of Negative Responses Did We Get Today?

Let’s see if I can remember them.

One man started to listen. I thought he was going to allow me to give him the Gospel. But then he pulled out, “My mother is a deaconess. I’m good.” I wanted to say, “Your mother has no clue what the Bible actually says if she is a deaconess.” But I didn’t. He was shutting the door as he was saying this.

One man, I would guess 25 to 35 years old, told me that I shouldn’t waste my time with him because he doesn’t believe in God. I couldn’t even get a word in as he was closing the door. You could hear children playing inside too, which makes the situation very sad. I’ve had many men about the same age do this same thing to me. I know what it’s like to be that age. Many don’t care, as men that age, because they think they are invincible. If they will listen, I will ask them if they realize they will die one day. If death doesn’t humble you, I’m not sure what will.

This man reminds me of many men that tell us “no soliciting.” They also look to get a little aggressive at times. This man was a little aggressive and wouldn’t allow me to say anything at all. I told him thank you as he shut the door.

Here’s something I want to mention. A couple of the last doors we knocked today on the bottom floor were older women. The first told us that she already had a church as she started to shut the door. I told her to just remember that it’s believing IN Jesus Christ that saves you. She agreed as she closed the door. The second older woman opened the door and seemed nice until I said “Christian.” She said, “No, I’m fine” and shut the door pretty quickly.

There was also a woman who stuck her head out the door until I said “Christian.” Then she shut the door.

So, if you’re thinking about doing this, AND YOU SHOULD, be ready to be rejected. This teaches you how to take rejection. I end up laughing some of the time, but it’s really not funny that someone is most likely headed for hell.

Please find you a good partner and get started anywhere!

Great Day on a Gloomy Day

Thank God for the 2 salvation’s we had today. Those 2 men will now be going to heaven because of their faith in Jesus Christ!

Count us down for 2 today. Please, if you’re out there soul winning anywhere, please share your stories here. Let us know how it’s going out there.

You are not alone.
