Exodus 24:1-8 I’m going to focus on the commandments from God that tell us to read and study the Bible. We have to go back to the basics of reading and studying the Bible daily. If everything else is more important, things aren’t going to turn out very well. We need to know what’s in the Bible. We need to know the organization of the Bible. We need to know the structure of the Bible. We need to know the doctrines taught within the Bible. We need to know the books of the Bible. We need to know how many…

1 Thessalonians 5:11-15 I want to go over the mission of this church as we get started today. The mission of this church: 1) Preach the Gospel and win souls to Jesus Christ. 2) Baptize in water as the first step of obedience to Jesus Christ. 3) Teach them all things within the Bible. Notice that there aren’t all these other things. This is our mission as given within the Bible. We do special events to support this mission. We have food and clothing to support this mission. Everything we do is to support this mission that we have. Our…

Matthew 4:1-4 We’ve been talking about Jesus being God in the flesh in many different lessons, sermons, and Bible studies since this church has opened. This is a very important doctrine to know and understand. Jesus Christ is the Son of God, and he is God in the flesh. Jesus Christ was tempted with food. This 100% proves that Jesus was in this same flesh. He came just like us, in this same flesh and blood, to save us. He didn’t get an advantage over us. He didn’t take any advantages. He went through more than any of us will…

We just read through the Day of Atonement and everything that happened on that day. There are people out there who attempt to apply things that happened during the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ one to one to the day of atonement.

This evening we are going to partake in the first Lord’s Supper at this new church. We’re going to take a close look at how Jesus implemented the Lord’s Supper. We’re going to learn from Jesus, and we’re going to do our best to implement the Lord’s Supper as he instructed. Listen to these Scriptures as these are leading up to the Lord’s Supper.

1 Kings 19:1-8 We all have times of trouble in our life. Every one of us have trouble. We all have bad days, bad weeks, bad months, and bad years. Times can get really tough. Out on the streets on Tuesday of this week, a man told me that he was tired of losing in life. He told me he is angry and just wanted to kill someone. He said I might just start killing because this world is setup to make me fail. He’s right. This world is setup to make you fail, but God sets you up to…

Matthew 3:13-17 We’ve been going through the Gospel of Matthew, the first book in the New Testament, verse by verse in great detail. In Matthew Chapter 1, we saw the genealogy of Jesus, God in the flesh, from Abraham to Joseph. We see Jesus is conceived of the Holy Ghost and born of the virgin Mary. In Matthew Chapter 2, we see the wise men inquire about Jesus Christ. Herod is alarmed. The wise men are directed by a star to Bethlehem where Jesus was born. The wise men worship him and offer their gifts. Joseph flees into Egypt with…

John 20:11-18 Since we are looking at the feasts of the Lord and focusing on the feast of firstfruits, I want to stop and take a look at a very important moment on resurrection day. We are putting together a resurrection timeline of all the events mentioned in the Bible. We know that the first appearance of Jesus, in his new resurrected body, was to Mary Magdalene. I want to look closely at that appearance right now. Let’s see exactly what happens on resurrection day using the Scriptures. And remember, Jesus arose from the dead in the Spring. His death,…

1 Corinthians 6:12-20 God is very clear on His commandment to flee fornication. In order to flee fornication, we need to know what it is and why we need to run from it as fast as we possibly can. “”1 Corinthians 6:18Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body.”” Flee fornication. When you commit fornication, you’re sinning against your own body. So, what is fornication? The Definition of Fornication The first definition of fornication is the voluntary sexual intercourse between two unmarried persons or two persons…

Proverbs 6:6-11 Today, I want to go over something that can and will destroy your life. I’ve seen this destroy individuals and families throughout my life. And it’s a very serious thing. And you might think this is hard to hear today. I’m going to talk about being slothful and sluggish. Sloths are the slowest land animal on earth. On average, they move about as far as 50 of our steps. Slugs and snails move very slowly. I have a watch on my arm that tracks steps. If I only move 50 steps per day, I’m a sloth. I’m a…

Matthew 3:7-12 We’ve been going through Matthew Chapter 3 verse by verse. Last week we focused in on what John the Baptist meant when he preached to “bring forth therefore fruits meet for repentance.” We know he was talking about the fruit of your lips. When we go out and preach the Gospel, much like John the Baptist was doing there, we ask people if they believe what we’re telling them from the Bible. They will say “Yes, I believe that” or “No, I don’t believe that.” “”Matthew 3:7-9But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees come to…

Mark 16:9-20 I want to look closely at the appearances of Jesus after He arose from the dead. Again, we’re going to see different accounts in the four different Gospels. I want to attempt to put these in the order they happened. But first we’re going to look at the appearances Jesus makes in each of the Gospels after He is risen. In the Gospel of Matthew, we see two appearances of Jesus. Let’s look closely at the Scriptures. “”Matthew 28:5-7And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which…

Matthew 28:1-10 God gave us the four Gospels, Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John for a reason. He wants us to study all of them together. There are four different accounts of the day Jesus arose from the dead. We must take all four accounts and put them together so we know what happened. God commands us to “study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” And that’s what we’re going to do right here today. “”Matthew 28:1In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn…

Galatians 6:1-10 We are continuing this series on the laws of thy God. The Bible is filled with God’s commandments to us. And I want to talk about something very important today. We’re here to help each other, but, if at all possible, the Bible says: “Every man shall bear his own burden.” We teach the Bible here, and when you follow the Bible, everything works together for good. When you don’t follow the Bible, everything is tougher on you and everyone around you. “”Galatians 6:1-2Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such…

Isaiah 42:5-12 We are a brand new church here in West Louisville in the Park Hill neighborhood. I love it here. I love the people here. Nathan and I wanted to come here. This church, True Words Baptist Church, is a brand new church. We just finished the 11th week of being open. We haven’t been here very long. We started out with just my family and Nathan’s family. We started out great with 77 people attending our Grand Opening services on 10/13/2024. I expected the attendance to drop some after that opening day, and it did. Much of our…

Matthew 3:7-12 In Matthew Chapter 3, we see John the Baptist coming on the scene and preaching in the wilderness or desert area of Judaea. He preaches, “Repent ye for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” We went over that in detail. This means John the Baptist is preaching to change your mind and believe in the Lord Jesus Christ. Don’t believe in yourself to get to heaven. Don’t believe in your own good works. Don’t believe in you repenting of your sin. Instead, believe in the Lord Jesus Christ. John the Baptist is wearing clothing made of camel’s…

Leviticus 23:9-14 The feast of firstfruits happens during the seven days of unleavened bread. The Passover happens on the first day. The feast of firstfruits happens on the day after the weekly Sabbath day during those seven days of unleavened bread. Look closely at this graphic again. At the top you see the days of unleavened bread. Seven days. You see Day 1, Day 2, all the way through Day 7. That first night of the 14th is the Passover. That’s when the feast of unleavened bread begins and it continues into the day of the 15th. In that selfsame…

Luke 2:1-24 I love Christmas. I love to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. We don’t worship Christmas trees. We don’t worship the season of Christmas. We don’t worship Santa Claus. We don’t worship the ornaments on the tree. We worship the Lord Jesus Christ. Christmas time is a great time. The Scripture we just read is one of my favorite Scripture passages in all the Bible. Just as the babe John the Baptist leaped in the womb of Elisabeth when Elisabeth heard the salutation of Mary, my heart jumps with great joy from within when…

Matthew 28:16-20 Our mission here as a church matches exactly what Jesus Christ tells us to do in Matthew Chapter 28. I want you to see this, and I want you to understand why we are here. These are the words of Jesus Christ before he ascended into heaven to be seated on the right hand of God. “”Matthew 28:18-20And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. 19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of…

Matthew 3:1-6 We’ve finished Matthew Chapter 1 and 2 in great detail. We’ve been through each verse in great detail. We’ve studied the details of the coming of Jesus Christ. We’re moving forward in years by a few decades from the birth of Jesus Christ. Now we’re going to see the cousin of Jesus Christ, a man who is about 6 months older than Jesus Christ, who is leading the way for the ministry of Jesus Christ. John the Baptist Leads the Way “”Matthew 3:1-2In those days came John the Baptist, preaching in the wilderness of Judaea, 2 And saying,…

Luke 22:7-20 The Lord’s Supper is a very important event within the Bible. The first time the Lord’s Supper appears in the Bible is the evening before Jesus dies on the cross. Jesus is the Passover Lamb We know that Jesus is the Passover Lamb. We know that Jesus dies at approximately the ninth hour of the day or around 3 pm. We know that Jesus is the Passover Lamb. He fulfills the Passover Feast. That means Jesus died on the calendar day of the 14th. That even of the 14th is when the Passover Feast begins. The Passover Lamb…

Romans 3:19-31 When I was growing up, I remember hearing about grace in church. I didn’t know what it meant, way back then, to be saved by grace. And most people who believe themselves to be Christians do not know what the word grace means. They do not know what saved by grace means. They prove it over and over again when they leave You Tube comments. And then there are people who believe themselves to be Christians who don’t know what the definition of works are in the Bible. And listen, this is not difficult but people out there,…

James 2:14-19 For years I have been preaching that we are saved by believing in Jesus Christ. It takes nothing else but believing in the Lord Jesus Christ to receive everlasting life. You can search the Scriptures for the words: believe, believed, believers, believest, believeth, and believing. You can see for yourself what the Scriptures say. You will find 322 matches in 287 verses for those words in the Scriptures. All The Scriptures With the Word Believe Here’s what a plot looks like for all the occurrences of these words: The Gospel of John has the most matches for the…

Matthew 2:19-23 Last week we saw that Joseph and Mary, while she was pregnant, traveled from Nazareth in Galilee to Bethlehem in Judaea. Jospeh was going to Bethlehem to pay taxes. Bethlehem is called the city of David in the Gospel of Luke. “”Luke 2:4-5And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David:) 5 To be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, being great with child.”” The Scriptures in the Old Testament tell us that…

Exodus 12:29-36 I want to look at the events during the Passover and put it all together in order of events. And then compare this to the actual fulfillment of the Passover when Jesus Christ became the Passover Lamb who died for the sins of the whole world. Instruction of the Passover Given Actual Occurrence of Passover Further Instructions for the Passover Passover Details You Don’t Want to Miss 10th day of the first month the Lamb is taken up.
