[2] The title of the sermon today is “LOSING YOUR SALVATION.”

Introduction To Losing Your Salvation

• Today, I want to look at many different verses that false preachers, false teachers, and false churches use to say you can lose your salvation.
• And I want you to make notes in your Bible. Mark some of these verse that we’ll go over today.
• The TRUE GOSPEL of JESUS CHRIST is very simple to understand. It’s easy to be saved.
• But, we have so many false churches and preachers around that people won’t even trust the truth any more.

[3] 2 Corinthians 11:3-4 But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. 4 For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him.

• The true Gospel says to believe on Jesus Christ as you Savior, and you will receive eternal life.
• Once you believe on Jesus, you have eternal life. If it’s eternal, this means you can’t lose it. That’s it.
• Believe and receive the gift of eternal life.
• Put all your trust in Jesus Christ, the Son of God, to save you and you’re saved. Past tense. Saved.

And look, the Bible is VERY, VERY clear OVER AND OVER again that FAITH alone is all it takes to be saved.

• Once you understand that, your eyes will be opened. This is the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
• He did all the work. He is giving us a gift. And that’s it.
• But we have all these false teachers, false preachers, and false churches teaching everyone something different than the Bible.
• They preach another gospel, which has no saving power.
• If they preach something different than the Bible, they are lying to you. Let’s understand that now.

[4] Galatians 1:6-9 I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: 7 Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. 8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. 9 As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.

• If anyone teaches that you can lose your salvation once you’re saved, they are a false preacher, false teacher, false church, and a false denomination as a whole.
• You cannot lose your salvation once your put 100% of your faith on Jesus Christ to save you.
• Once you understand that it’s FAITH ALONE that saved you without ANY WORKS, you’re saved and you can’t lose it.

If you think it has to do with works in any way, and you have NEVER put all your faith on Jesus Christ, you’re not saved.

• You can put all your faith on Him right now and be saved. That’s why it’s ALWAYS good news!
• You can be saved right now. Simply change your mind and believe. It requires no work at all.
• Now, let’s start into the first verse that people use to say that you can lose your salvation.
• Keep in mind that there’s less than 10 of these verses in existence VERSUS the hundreds of verses that say you cannot lose your salvation.

“Not Every One That Saith Unto Me Lord, Lord Shall Enter Into The Kingdom Of Heaven”

• One of the most popular verses for proving you can lose your salvation is Matthew 7:21.
• And this is absolutely amazing to me, and it should be to you once you understand the entire Bible and are saved. Here it is.

[5] Matthew 7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.

• These people are using this verse to say that you once knew the Lord Jesus Christ and called Him Lord.
• They say that this is proof that you can lose your salvation.
• They say this because Jesus says that not everyone who calls Him Lord will enter into heave so you can lose your salvation.
• I don’t know about you, but I sure don’t see that there.
• Let’s read the verse again and include the verses that follow this one.

[6] Matthew 7:21-23 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. 22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? 23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

• This verse is talking about people who think they can earn their salvation by doing wonderful works in the name of Jesus.
• The people in the passage say: “LORD, LORD, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?”

Again, these are people who believe in Jesus but believe that their GOOD WORKS will get them into heaven.

• Believing that Jesus exists is not enough.
• There are churches all around us that believe Jesus exists but they don’t have faith in Jesus to save them.
• Faith in Jesus is 100% trust in Jesus alone to save you.
• These people in this passage think they are earning their way to heaven by doing wonderful works.

And what does Jesus say to them? He says: “I NEVER KNEW YOU.”

• He never says that He once knew them and now they’ve lost their salvation.
• He says I never knew you, and you never had salvation. He says: “You were never saved.”
• Depart from me ye that work iniquity.

Why does He say DEPART FROM ME YE THAT WORK INIQUITY? Because these are not saved people.

• They aren’t saved because they don’t put their trust in Jesus but have put their trust in themselves.
• They didn’t lose salvation because THEY NEVER HAD IT. Do you see that?
• There’s another part of Matthew 7:21 that people get hung up on as well. Let’s look closer at verse 21.
• “Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.”
• So Jesus says only HE THAT DOETH THE WILL OF MY FATHER will enter into heaven.

Some people think the will of the Father is for you to do good works to get to heaven.

• That’s not what this verse says. It’s saying the opposite if you would simply keep reading.
• If you have to do good works all your life to get into heaven, then you’re not saved by grace through faith any more.
• This means you will never be saved according to the Bible because you can’t keep the entire law.
• It’s impossible. You are not saved by works.

So, what is the will of the Father which is mentioned in this verse by Jesus?

• This is VERY IMPORTANT because Jesus says you won’t enter the Kingdom of Heaven unless you do the will of the Father.
• This is answered by Jesus Himself in John Chapter 6.

[7] John 6:38-40 For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me. 39 And this is the Father’s will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day. 40 And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.

• Again, this makes sense with the entire rest of the Bible.
• The will of the Father is for all to believe on the Son of God, Jesus Christ, to save them.
• The will of God is for everyone to make Jesus their Savior so they may have everlasting life.
• This is what God wants.
• If you won’t make Jesus YOUR ONLY SAVIOR, Jesus says you won’t enter into the Kingdom of Heaven.
• That’s all Matthew 7:21 is saying. It agrees with the rest of the Bible that you can’t lose your salvation and that salvation is not of works.
• Salvation is given to you once you believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. It takes NOTHING else.

“It Is Impossible To Renew Them Again To Repentance”

• Here’s another very popular passage used by false teachers and preachers to say you can lose your salvation. Listen closely to this one.

[8] Hebrews 6:4-6 For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost, 5 And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come, 6 If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.

• Let’s pretend for a minute that this passage is saying you can lose your salvation.
• If it were, the entire rest of the Bible would have contradictions throughout.
• But, let’s pretend that it is for just a minute.

People who teach you can lose your salvation also teach that you can get it back.

• They will take you to this Scripture as proof that you can lose your salvation.
• Then, they will tell you how to get it back. Well, guess what?
• If this passage says you can lose your salvation (which it doesn’t), it also says that you can NEVER get it back.
• All this takes to understand this is a sound mind. If you can lose it, you can NEVER get it back.

These false teachers tell you that YOU can gain your salvation, you can lose your salvation, you can get it back again, you can lose it again, gain it back, lose it, gain it back, over and over and over again.

• Where does the Bible say that? I would love to see proof in the Bible for that teaching.
• And look, most churches around here: “They believe you can lose it, gain it back, and do this over and over again throughout your life.”
• How do I know? Because that’s what I thought in the past when I didn’t know and read my Bible and simply depended on Church to teach me.
• Don’t depend on church to teach you. Read and study your King James Bible.

This is a sad state when you can lose it and gain it over and over again.

• This means you are never assured of your salvation.
• Those same churches are very confusing because they’ll sing songs like “BLESSED ASSURANCE” which is a great song that tells you that you can be assured of your salvation.
• And then they teach that you aren’t assured.
• The Bible says we can 100% be assured of our salvation.
• If you aren’t assured, you aren’t trusting the Word of God over the word of man.

Let’s see what this passage of Scripture in Hebrews Chapter 4 actually means.

• As we always do, we’re going to read more of the passage.
• We can’t just pick and choose verses and make them say what they want.
• We have to read more of the chapter so we can understand the context.

[9] Hebrews 6:4-9 For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost, 5 And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come, 6 If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame. 7 For the earth which drinketh in the rain that cometh oft upon it, and bringeth forth herbs meet for them by whom it is dressed, receiveth blessing from God: 8 But that which beareth thorns and briers is rejected, and is nigh unto cursing; whose end is to be burned. 9 But, beloved, we are persuaded better things of you, and things that accompany salvation, though we thus speak.

• So, is this passage talking about people who are saved? Look at verse 4 and 5 again.
• It says, “For those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost, And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come.”
• And then in verse 9 it says, “BUT, BELOVED, we are persuaded better things of YOU.”

So, they were talking about unsaved people in verses 4 through 8.

• Now, they change direction and say: “BUT, BELOVED, we are persuaded better things of YOU.”
• Not them but YOU.
• This passage never says anything about having salvation and losing salvation.
• It never mentions eternal life. It never mentions that the person is saved. Does it? No, it doesn’t.

This is talking about the person who hears the true Gospel of Jesus Christ, the Holy Ghost is working within them to bring them to the truth, they finally understand the truth about being saved, and the light bulb comes on.

• They are enlightened. They understand. They’ve tasted the heavenly gift through the Holy Ghost.
• They are right there and are about to be saved and trust in Jesus Christ.
• They understand how to be saved. And what do they do? They reject the Gospel. They reject Jesus Christ.
• They say, “No, I don’t want any part of that.” That’s their final rejection.
• The Bible says they cannot be renewed unto repentance or a change of mind to believe the Gospel again.

Verse 8 says, “But that which beareth thorns and briers is REJECTED.” Key word is “REJECTED.”

• In other words, you can’t get the chance for salvation again.
• It’s not losing it once you have it, but losing the chance to ever be saved. That’s scary.
• And this passage of Scripture matches with the entire rest of the Bible.
• The Bible says that God will reject people who continue to reject Him. It’s that simple.

[10] Jeremiah 6:30 Reprobate silver shall men call them, because the LORD hath rejected them.

• Reprobate means rejected.

[11] Romans 1:28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;

• Look, the world tells everyone that God will continue to love them no matter what.
• The Bible says that God will reject you if you continue to reject Him.
• The Bible says that GOD WILL NOT love you no matter what.
• Do you see how evil the world and the churches of today are who teach people that?
• That’s leading to more and more rejected people who will never have the chance to accept the true Gospel. That’s evil.

[12] Titus 1:16 They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate.

• So, look, it’s not just people that we think are evil.
• It’s also people we think of as “good” people who do good works.
• If you think it takes good works to get to heaven, you’re not saved and you’re rejecting Jesus Christ as YOUR SAVIOR.
• The Bible says so over and over again. It’s CRYSTAL CLEAR throughout.

It’s not just evil and wicked people who can be rejected by God. It’s people who won’t trust in God.

• It’s people who trust in man more than God.
• That’s rejecting God, and God says your “GOOD WORKS” aren’t good works unless your foundation is JESUS CHRIST. Not yourself.

Some people will not understand the Gospel of Jesus Christ the first time.

• It might take 10, 20, 30, 50 times of hearing it before they understand. It took me a while.
• I read my Bible SOME and couldn’t understand it. Why is that?
• It takes the Holy Spirit working within that person for them to understand.
• They aren’t saved yet and won’t understand unless the Holy Spirit is helping.

I asked God over and over again to please help me to understand His words. They were difficult to understand.

• I just didn’t get it.
• When He knew I was sincere and was putting effort into His word, He enlightened me and showed me the truth.
• That’s ONLY through the Holy Spirit. He works in the unsaved or we would never be saved.
• So again, Hebrews 6:4-6 is talking about unsaved people who are enlightened by the Holy Spirit; who are led to God for the very last time.
• And it’s sad, but they reject God one final time.
• And God says, you have now been rejected because you reject me. These people were never saved in this passage.

This is just like Pharaoh who had his heart hardened by God.

• God showed Him who He was over and over again and Pharaoh continued to reject God. So guess what?
• God rejected him. We look at the plagues and say how could Pharaoh not believe on God?
• God was showing us a picture of rejection and what it’s like to be rejected.
• The Holy Ghost works in unsaved people.
• One example from the Bible is the high priest Caiaphas in John Chapter 11. He never believed on Jesus.
• But listen to this passage:

[13] John 11:49-52 And one of them, named Caiaphas, being the high priest that same year, said unto them, Ye know nothing at all, 50 Nor consider that it is expedient for us, that one man should die for the people, and that the whole nation perish not. 51 And this spake he not of himself: but being high priest that year, he prophesied that Jesus should die for that nation; 52 And not for that nation only, but that also he should gather together in one the children of God that were scattered abroad.

• The Holy Ghost spoke through Caiaphas and he surely wasn’t saved. Understand that today.
• The Holy Ghost works in unsaved people.
• If you reject God too many times when the Holy Ghost is working within you, God can reject you.
• That’s the truth within the Bible and Hebrews Chapter 6 is another example of this.
• Before we go to the next Scripture, let’s recap quickly.

Matthew 7 is probably the most popular verse people will use to say you can lose your salvation.

• Jesus is talking about people who thinks works will get them to heaven.
• He says, “I NEVER KNEW YOU.” That means you didn’t lose it. He never knew you.
• Then we just looked at Hebrews 6. There’s no clear statement that those people are saved.
• If they were, it would contradict the entire rest of the Bible. THE ENTIRE BIBLE.
• Therefore, you MUST conclude that it’s not talking to saved people.
• Let’s go to the next Scripture people will use to say you can lose your salvation.

“But He That Shall Endure To The End, The Same Shall Be Saved”

• This next verse is another verse that simply requires someone to read the entire chapter.
• But instead, we’re picking and choosing single verses and using them to support false doctrines that do not match with the entire Bible.
• We’re going to look at Matthew Chapter 24.
• And this should be a familiar chapter for you because this is talking about the end of the world.
• We look at this Matthew Chapter 24 a lot when we’re studying the Book of Revelation.

[14] Matthew 24:13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.

• To fully understand what this means, look at verse 9 just a few verses before this one.
• You’re going to start to see what verse 13 really means.

[15] Matthew 24:9 Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name’s sake.

• This verse is talking about killing your flesh, your body. Jesus says, “You will be killed for my sake.”
• If you’re flesh or body is killed for the name of Jesus, do you think you’re going to heaven or hell?
• Definitely heaven. You’re saved because you obviously believe on Jesus to save you.
• Now, let’s look back at verse 13.

[16] Matthew 24:13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.

• If you endure to the end and your flesh or body is not killed, He’s saying the same shall be saved.
• If you die before the end, your soul will be saved.
• If you make it to the end, your flesh is saved and your soul is saved.
• You were never killed if you endure to the end.
• If that’s not clear, look down to verse 22 and let’s read there. Same chapter. Jesus is still speaking here.

[17] Matthew 24:22 And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect’s sake those days shall be shortened.

• It’s talking about your flesh being saved. It’s not talking about your soul being saved.
• It’s not saying you have to endure to the end to be saved.
• It’s not saying you MUST do good works until the very end to be saved.
• It’s not saying you must be sinless unto the end.
• It’s not saying you must follow all of God’s commandments until the very end.
• I am confused at how anyone could get that from Matthew 24:13, but people will use that to say you can lose your salvation if you don’t endure to the end.
• These are the same people who believe in a works salvation even though the BIBLE IS VERY CLEAR in Ephesians 2:8 and 9.

[18] Ephesians 2:8-9 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

• You see: being saved by FAITH and not works is crystal clear in the Bible.
• These false preachers and churches will pick and choose verses out of context to support any view or belief they have.
• Your works, your enduring in works, you doing God’s commandments, you keeping God’s law as much as you can, you repenting of sin, DOES NOT SAVE YOUR SOUL.
• Works do not save you and give you the gift of eternal life.

The bottom line is YOU ARE SAVED once you believe on Jesus Christ 100% to save you.

• Once you put all your trust in Jesus as YOUR SAVIOR, you’re saved. That’s it. Bottom line. That’s it.
• If you are killed before the end, you’re saved. If you endure to the end, you’re saved.
• Please understand today that your flesh and your soul are 2 different things.
• Your body and your soul are not the same thing.
• You sin in your flesh but your soul is sealed from sin through the Holy Spirit.
• Sin is not counted to your soul once you’re saved.
• It is counted to your flesh, and that’s why we continue to ask God for forgiveness so He doesn’t punish us in this life for our sin.
• We need to do our best to walk in the Spirit and not the flesh.

Matthew Chapter 24 is talking about the Tribulation and the Great Tribulation.

• Remember that, because you’ll automatically understand what this chapter is talking about if someone takes you to Matthew 24.
• You’ll see it and know it immediately.
• Ask them what enduring to the end means?
• They’ll say that every person who lives must follow all of God’s commands to the very end of their life to be saved.
• If that’s true, no one will make it.
• Then, you’ll get some people who actually say they stay perfect every day and they do not sin.
• Well, the Bible says you do sin. If you’re truthful with yourself, you’ll admit that you sin.
• You need to understand the difference in sinning in your flesh and sinning in your soul.

[19] 1 John 1:8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

• Look, we need to know and understand all of these verses that people use to say you can lose your salvation.
• Jesus calls it eternal life, and Jesus Himself says you HAVE IT once you believe on Him.

[20] John 6:47 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.

• Jesus says you HAVE everlasting life. If you could lose it, these words from Jesus would be false.
• I would ask, if Jesus were standing in front of you right now, and He said, “If you believeth on me right now, I give you everlasting life.”
• Would you believe Him or not?

Imagine that. People would say, “Oh yes, I would believe what Jesus said if He were standing right in front of me.”

• THEN WAKE UP!!! This Bible right here is JUST LIKE Jesus standing in front of you right now.
• These are the words of Jesus Christ!!!
• He says: “Believe on me and you have everlasting life.”
• If He gives you EVER LASTING life today, will He take it away tomorrow when you have a bad thought?
• Will He take it away in 5 years because you aren’t following Him like you should?
• Everlasting is everlasting. This means it never ends.
• This means Jesus is giving you everlasting life if you simply trust in Him as your only Savior. That’s it.
• Once you have it, you can’t lose it.
• The Bible NEVER says you can lose it.
• People will also use a similar verse in Matthew 10 verse 22.
• This is very similar to Matthew 24 that we just looked at so I want to mention it here as well.
• Let’s take a look.

[21] Matthew 10:22 And ye shall be hated of all men for my name’s sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved.

• Again, this is talking about your flesh being killed. Where does it say you can lose your salvation?
• If you make it through the hate from the evil world, your flesh will be saved.
• Your soul will be saved no matter if you endure to the end or not.
• To show people that it’s talking about your flesh, look further down in verse 28.

[22] Matthew 10:28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

• It’s saying: “DON’T FEAR ANY MAN. THEY CAN ONLY KILL YOUR BODY.”
• They can’t kill your soul, and that’s the important thing here.
• You can choose to fear God or choose to fear man.
• Again, the Bible makes a VERY CLEAR distinction between the flesh or body AND the soul.
• Do you see that? It’s very clear.

Those passages aren’t teaching that you can lose your salvation.

• I personally believe churches teach that so they scare you into coming back to church.
• Instead of being scared into church, you should come because you want to learn about God and who He is so you can make Him happy.
• Not me. Not you. But God alone.

[23] Hebrews 13:5 Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.

• You can’t lose your salvation once you’re saved.
• You are in the hands of Jesus, and Jesus HIMSELF says, “I WILL NEVER LEAVE YOU!!!”

“If We Sin Willfully There Remaineth No More Sacrifice For Sins”

• The next passage I want to look at is Hebrews Chapter 10 starting in verse 26.

[24] Hebrews 10:26 For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins,

• False teachers and preachers will look at that and say, “SEE! I told you can lose your salvation.”
• Where does this verse say that?
• If you sin willfully after you know the truth about a specific sin, does this say you have lost your salvation?

What do you think we do first to figure this one out?

• We go to the Scripture and we search and study to see what it means.
• We already know you can’t lose your salvation because this is repeated over and over and over again throughout the Bible.
• Here’s an example that clearly lays this out.

[25] 1 John 5:13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.

• The Bible is very clear that you HAVE eternal life once you believe on Jesus Christ.
• If you could lose it, it wouldn’t be eternal and God would have said so.
• Verses like Hebrews 10:26 are there to divide people that won’t believe what God says throughout the entire Bible.
• If you see a few verses that you think don’t agree with the rest of the Bible, then you have a problem.
• You need to study it and search the Scriptures to see what it means.
• The beginning of Hebrews Chapter 10 starts out by talking of sacrifices being made for sins. Let’s read it.

[26] Hebrews 10:1-4 For the law having a shadow of good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year continually make the comers thereunto perfect. 2 For then would they not have ceased to be offered? because that the worshippers once purged should have had no more conscience of sins. 3 But in those sacrifices there is a remembrance again made of sins every year. 4 For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins.

• It’s talking about the sacrifices made for sins through bulls and goats in these verses.
• It talks about offerings for sin year by year.

If we keep going in Chapter 10, you’ll see that it then talks about Jesus becoming the offering once for all sins.

• There is no longer sacrifices you can do to be forgiven of those sins you willfully commit.
• You can’t just go sacrifice a goat and be forgiven for your fornication or whatever else might be done willfully.
• In other words, if you know fornication or a sexual relationship outside of marriage (and marriage is defined by the Bible as between a man and a woman); if you know this is wrong, are saved, and continue to do it, God is going to be very, very angry with you.
• Keep that example in mind as we read Hebrews Chapter 10 today.

[27] Hebrews 10:11-12 And every priest standeth daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins: 12 But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God;

• So, it’s clearly taking about the comparison of burnt offerings to take away sins and then the sacrifice of Jesus Christ.
• The sacrifice Jesus made was once for ALL SINS.
• If you accept Jesus Christ as YOUR SAVIOR, all of your sins are already forgiven because you’re saved.
• Understand that FIRST. That’s the GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST.
• If you don’t understand that first, the Bible will be very difficult to understand because you’re not saved.

[28] Hebrews 10:14 For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.

• Look at that. Verse 14 says that those who are forgiven have been perfected forever.
• You are clean from sin forever. Does that mean you won’t sin any more? No.
• It means you have been forgiven of all your sins through the blood of Jesus Christ.
• All your sins of all time are forgiven because you are saved. You have eternal life.
• This verse would make no sense if Hebrews 10:26 says you can lose your salvation. It doesn’t say that.
• Let’s keep looking at Hebrews Chapter 10.

[29] Hebrews 10:15-17 Whereof the Holy Ghost also is a witness to us: for after that he had said before, 16 This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them; 17 And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more.

• Again, God says He will not remember our sins and iniquities when it comes to being saved and receiving eternal life.
• He says He will put His laws into our hearts and minds.
• This entire Chapter is talking about people who are saved. It’s not talking to unsaved people.
• Understand that because some false preachers will say that God is talking to unsaved people in verse 26.
• I don’t see that anywhere.

[30] Hebrews 10:18 Now where remission of these is, there is no more offering for sin.

• Again, when we’re under the blood of Jesus Christ and are forgiven, there is no more offering for sin.
• We don’t sacrifice goats and bulls to be forgiven of our sins.

Then, the chapter tells us how we should be thankful to God for the sacrifice Jesus made for us.

• The Bible says by a NEW AND LIVING WAY we should DRAW NEAR to God.
• We shouldn’t continue to sin willfully.
• This chapter tells us to help each other, the saved, to stay near to God and to do good works for God.

If we know God’s rules and His commands and we say, “Whatever, I’m going to do what I want. I don’t care what God says.”

• This is VERY SERIOUS for God’s family. He doesn’t play games.
• You’re in His family now, and you don’t get to do whatever you want without punishment.
• GOD IS A VERY SERIOUS GOD and He wants you to see that in this chapter.

[31] Hebrews 10:24-26 And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: 25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching. 26 For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins,

• So again, help each other to do good. Gather together in Church.
• Assemble together to learn and help each other. We’ll need this more and more the Bible says.
• I want to read verse 26 again and continue with the Chapter.

[32] Hebrews 10:26-27 For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, 27 But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.

• This is clearly saying that if you want to willfully sin against God, there is no sacrifice you can offer in goats and bulls that you can just offer up and be forgiven.
• Some people believe that. Go do whatever you want and you can ask forgiveness and God will never think anything else about it.

Oh no, that’s not what the Bible says.

• You’re already forgiven when it comes to eternal life, but God will not be happy with you and will punish you in this life.
• He says in verse 27 that you should be fearful and know that God will devour adversaries to Him.
• When you willfully go against Him and say, “I’ll do whatever I want God,” you better be ready God says.
• I want you to see what this says in the next verses to show you this is the correct context of these verses.

[33] Hebrews 10:28-29 He that despised Moses’ law died without mercy under two or three witnesses: 29 Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?

• If you went against the law of Moses, the Bible says you died without mercy and 2 or 3 people watched you die without mercy.
• God says, “If you think that was rough, try me!!!”
• He says, “You’ve now trodden under foot the Son of God, you made His sacrifice an unholy thing, you have HATED the Holy Spirit which is living within you.”

[34] Hebrews 10:30-31 For we know him that hath said, Vengeance belongeth unto me, I will recompense, saith the Lord. And again, The Lord shall judge his people. 31 It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

• God says, “I WILL PAY YOU BACK.” You want to do evil? I’ll give you evil God says.
• Man can do nothing compared to the HANDS OF THE LIVING GOD. Don’t fear man God says.
• FEAR ME HE SAYS!!!

God repays His saved people who want to willfully go against Him. They understand all of it.

• They know the great gift that He’s given. They understand His goodness, and they understand His laws.
• And then they want to go up against Him and challenge that. No, He says. It won’t end up good for you.
• That doesn’t mean the eternal punishment of hell. He never says that.

That’s the entire point of Hebrews 10. The rest of the Chapter tells you to remember the days you were saved.

• Go back to those and please do what’s right. Don’t go against God.
• He doesn’t want to punish you. But He will if has to. And He warns us here, “YOU WON’T LIKE IT.”
• Hebrews Chapter 10 never says you can lose your salvation.
• It actually says that you can’t, but God will punish you in this life, and you also might even lose rewards in heaven.
• Understand today that you can’t lose your salvation.

[35] 2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

• If you believe on Christ, you’re a new creature. A new birth happens.
• You are now in the family of God Almighty. He says you can’t change your family now.
• “I am your Father now,” He says.

[36] John 10:28-30 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. 29 My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand. 30 I and my Father are one.

• That passage right there is VERY EASY to understand.
• Jesus says I GIVE UNTO THEM eternal life and they shall NEVER PERISH.
• So again, none of the verses that people use to say you can lose your salvation are SAYING YOU CAN LOSE YOUR SALVATION.
• Those verses and words are NEVER saying you can lose your salvation.
• Jesus clearly teaches over and over again that you cannot lose it.

Conclusion to Losing Your Salvation

• Look, there may be additional verses that people will attempt to twist and show you that you can lose your salvation.
• If you have any, please share them with me.
• I like to know and see the verses people will try to use and twist.
• We need to be prepared for those verses. We need to know the truth.

All we have to do is search the Scriptures. Read the entire Chapter with those people. The truth will come out.

• Usually the verses they use ACTUALLY PROVE eternal security. That’s why the Bible is so very AMAZING.
• The truth will set you free. Understand that once you believe on Jesus Christ you are saved.
• And you have eternal security because God gave it to you. He made it eternal.
• And you can know what He says is the truth.
• You CANNOT lose your salvation.
