[2] The title of the sermon today is “FAITH ALONE SAVES.” This is part 2 of 2 Sermons.
Faith Alone Saves You 100% Without A Doubt
- The purpose of these 2 parts of the Faith Alone Saves sermons is to simply show you that the Bible says that faith alone saves you in every way possible.
- God has VERY CLEARLY spelled it out in His Bible.
- But some people won’t accept this because of what their churches and religious authorities have taught them.
- This is just like the Pharisees. The Pharisees wouldn’t believe it was so simple.
- They were proud and wanted to prove they were the only worthy ones.
Those religious people couldn’t believe that God would just give the gift to anyone who believed on Him to save them.
- That’s just too easy they said. They said: “HEY, We’ve earned heaven.”
- Listen, wake up! Churches and religions are doing the exact same thing today.
- They think you have to continue doing works of the law to be saved. Repent of your sin. Be baptized.
- Do this. Do that. When is it enough? You have to endure perfectly to the end in the law to make it.
- News Flash! The Bible does not say this.
- And that’s why we’re going through all of the Bible verses that tell you PLAINLY AND CLEARLY that Faith Alone Saves you.
And this isn’t just in the New Testament as we saw in Faith Alone Saves Part 1.
- The Bible says the same thing in the Old Testament.
- The path to salvation is given in the Old Testament!
- Don’t listen to my words, though. Let’s take a look at the word of God. His words are TRUE WORDS.
[3] Galatians 2:20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.
- How is he living in this verse? How did he receive eternal life?
- He only lives by the faith of the Son of God. That’s it.
[4] Galatians 3:2 This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?
[5] Galatians 3:7 Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham.
[6] Galatians 3:8 And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed.
[7] Galatians 3:9 So then they which be of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham.
- You’re either blessed with Abraham or you’re not. Not means hell.
- You can only be blessed with faithfaul Abraham through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.
Why Won’t You Believe?
[8] Numbers 14:11 And the LORD said unto Moses, How long will this people provoke me? and how long will it be ere they believe me, for all the signs which I have shewed among them?
- All the way back to the book of Numbers, God is amazed that his own people won’t believe what He says.
- Why is He amazed? Because He has done MANY signs to prove to them and they yet won’t believe.
- Same thing goes for us today. The creation all around us speaks to the AMAZING CREATOR of all things.
- And yet, people don’t see it. What happens to those people? Let’s take a look.
[9] 2 Kings 17:14-23 Notwithstanding they would not hear, but hardened their necks, like to the neck of their fathers, that did not believe in the LORD their God. And they rejected his statutes, and his covenant that he made with their fathers, and his testimonies which he testified against them; and they followed vanity, and became vain, and went after the heathen that were round about them, concerning whom the LORD had charged them, that they should not do like them. And they left all the commandments of the LORD their God, and made them molten images, even two calves, and made a grove, and worshipped all the host of heaven, and served Baal. And they caused their sons and their daughters to pass through the fire, and used divination and enchantments, and sold themselves to do evil in the sight of the LORD, to provoke him to anger. Therefore the LORD was very angry with Israel, and removed them out of his sight: there was none left but the tribe of Judah only. Also Judah kept not the commandments of the LORD their God, but walked in the statutes of Israel which they made. And the LORD rejected all the seed of Israel, and afflicted them, and delivered them into the hand of spoilers, until he had cast them out of his sight. For he rent Israel from the house of David; and they made Jeroboam the son of Nebat king: and Jeroboam drave Israel from following the LORD, and made them sin a great sin. For the children of Israel walked in all the sins of Jeroboam which he did; they departed not from them; Until the LORD removed Israel out of his sight, as he had said by all his servants the prophets. So was Israel carried away out of their own land to Assyria unto this day.
[10] 2 Chronicles 20:20 And they rose early in the morning, and went forth into the wilderness of Tekoa: and as they went forth, Jehoshaphat stood and said, Hear me, O Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem; Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
- Even King Jehoshaphat knew what it took.
- He said BELIEVE IN THE LORD YOUR GOD so shall YE BE ESTABLISHED.
[11] Isaiah 43:10 Ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me.
- God is urging us to know and believe Him. That’s all He wants.
- Do you think He wants to throw people in hell? No, He doesn’t. But what else does He need to do?
- He’s done so much.
- Just think if you were trying to tell so many people something and no matter what you did, they wouldn’t listen.
- That’s how God feels. He says there is no other God. It’s me. Listen. Hear. Believe.
[12] Matthew 18:6 But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea.
- Don’t mess with God’s little ones that believe in Him. It won’t end up good.
- Does Jesus sound nice and “loving” like the world today makes Him out to be?
- No, because the world’s definition of love is a lie.
Publicans and Harlots Believe But You Won’t Believe?
[13] Matthew 21:32 For John came unto you in the way of righteousness, and ye believed him not: but the publicans and the harlots believed him: and ye, when ye had seen it, repented not afterward, that ye might believe him.
- Listen to this verse. It’s telling us that the religious people of this world won’t believe when you tell them the truth.
- They’ll argue with you. They’ll look at the words of the Bible and say THAT’S NOT RIGHT.
- But look, the publicans and the harlots believed! What’s that telling us?
- Get rid of your religions. Listen to God.
[14] Mark 1:15 And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.
- Change your mind and believe the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
[15] Mark 9:23 Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.
- All things are possible to those who believe.
- That sure doesn’t say all things are possible to those who do good works.
[16] Mark 9:24 And straightway the father of the child cried out, and said with tears, Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief.
- Look, if you’re child was dying right there in front of you, would you cry out with tears and tell Jesus that you believe?
- Would you ask Jesus to please help your unbelief? What about right now today? What if you were dying?
- I bet you’d cry out to Jesus. And guess what? He’ll hear you.
- But why do we have to get to that point? Why not call upon Jesus right now?
[17] Mark 9:42 And whosoever shall offend one of these little ones that believe in me, it is better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he were cast into the sea.
[18] Mark 11:23 For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.
[19] Mark 11:24 Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.
[20] Mark 16:17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues (languages);
- When you believe, you better believe you’ll receive benefits from God.
- How much work are you going to put into God? Receive heavenly gifts and benefits.
- Don’t seek worldly gifts and benefits.
- How much better do you think a heavenly gift is than an earthly gift? No comparison.
- Let’s put all we have into God.
Beleiving Is The Only Requirement
[21] Luke 8:12 Those by the way side are they that hear; then cometh the devil, and taketh away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved.
- How are you saved? That verse right there tells you. It says: “Lest they believe and be saved.”
- The devil’s top piroity is to snatch that word that saves people. Believing saves people.
[22] Luke 8:50 But when Jesus heard it, he answered him, saying, Fear not: believe only, and she shall be made whole.
[23] Luke 24:25-26 Then he said unto them, O fools, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken: Ought not Christ to have suffered these things, and to enter into his glory?
- What’s Jesus call the slow of heart to believe? He calls them fools.
- Throughout the Bible, God refers to people who won’t believe as fools.
[24] John 1:7 The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe.
[25] John 1:12-13 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
- How do you become the family of God? Believe on the name of Jesus Christ to save you.
- This doesn’t just mean to believe that Jesus existed.
- It means to put your trust in Jesus to save you because you understand who He is and what He’s done and what He’s proved.
[26] John 4:41-42 And many more believed because of his own word; And said unto the woman, Now we believe, not because of thy saying: for we have heard him ourselves, and know that this is indeed the Christ, the Saviour of the world.
- Do you believe that Jesus Christ is the Saviour of the world? These people in that verse right there did.
- Guess where they are right now? In heaven. In paradise.
[27] John 6:29 Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.
[28] John 6:64 But there are some of you that believe not. For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were that believed not, and who should betray him.
- Jesus is talking to His disciples right there. Do you think the disciples believed that Jesus was there?
- Yes, they believed in the man Jesus. He was right there.
- But did they believe He was the Savior of the world? Some didn’t.
[29] John 6:69 And we believe and are sure that thou art that Christ, the Son of the living God.
[30] John 7:39 (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)
- Jesus is glorified now. He is risen from the dead in His Glorified Body.
- This means once you believe on Him, you receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
- He says so right there in this verse.
You Will Die In Your Sins Unless You Believe On Jesus To Save You
[31] John 8:24 I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins.
- If you NEVER believe on Jesus your entire life, you will die in your sins.
- And just like Jesus died with the sins of the world and went to hell, that’s where you’ll go if you die in your sins.
- Once you believe on Jesus, He says he forgives all your sins. All means past, present, and future.
[32] John 9:35-38 Jesus heard that they had cast him out; and when he had found him, he said unto him, Dost thou believe on the Son of God? He answered and said, Who is he, Lord, that I might believe on him? And Jesus said unto him, Thou hast both seen him, and it is he that talketh with thee. And he said, Lord, I believe. And he worshipped him.
[33] John 10:25-38 Jesus answered them, I told you, and ye believed not: the works that I do in my Father’s name, they bear witness of me. But ye believe not, because ye are not of my sheep, as I said unto you. My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand. I and my Father are one. Then the Jews took up stones again to stone him. Jesus answered them, Many good works have I shewed you from my Father; for which of those works do ye stone me? The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God. Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods? If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came, and the scripture cannot be broken; Say ye of him, whom the Father hath sanctified, and sent into the world, Thou blasphemest; because I said, I am the Son of God? If I do not the works of my Father, believe me not. But if I do, though ye believe not me, believe the works: that ye may know, and believe, that the Father is in me, and I in him.
[34] John 11:24-27 Martha saith unto him, I know that he shall rise again in the resurrection at the last day. Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this? She saith unto him, Yea, Lord: I believe that thou art the Christ, the Son of God, which should come into the world.
- Martha confessed Jesus with her mouth. If you believe, you should do the same thing.
- Yes Lord, I believe that YOU ARE THE CHRIST, the SON OF GOD!!!
[35] John 11:40-42 Jesus saith unto her, Said I not unto thee, that, if thou wouldest believe, thou shouldest see the glory of God? Then they took away the stone from the place where the dead was laid. And Jesus lifted up his eyes, and said, Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me. And I knew that thou hearest me always: but because of the people which stand by I said it, that they may believe that thou hast sent me.
[36] John 11:48 If we let him thus alone, all men will believe on him: and the Romans shall come and take away both our place and nation.
[37] John 12:36 While ye have light, believe in the light, that ye may be the children of light. These things spake Jesus, and departed, and did hide himself from them.
[38] John 12:37-41 But though he had done so many miracles before them, yet they believed not on him: That the saying of Esaias the prophet might be fulfilled, which he spake, Lord, who hath believed our report? and to whom hath the arm of the Lord been revealed? Therefore they could not believe, because that Esaias said again, He hath blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart; that they should not see with their eyes, nor understand with their heart, and be converted, and I should heal them. These things said Esaias, when he saw his glory, and spake of him.
[39] John 13:19 Now I tell you before it come, that, when it is come to pass, ye may believe that I am he.
If You Believe In God, Believe Also In Jesus
[40] John 14:1 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.
- Jesus says: “Hey, if you believe in God believe ALSO in me.” We are the same GOD. He says BELIEVE ME.
[41] John 14:11 Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works’ sake.
[42] John 14:29 And now I have told you before it come to pass, that, when it is come to pass, ye might believe.
[43] John 16:7-11 Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you. And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: Of sin, because they believe not on me; Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more; Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.
[44] John 16:28-33 I came forth from the Father, and am come into the world: again, I leave the world, and go to the Father. His disciples said unto him, Lo, now speakest thou plainly, and speakest no proverb. Now are we sure that thou knowest all things, and needest not that any man should ask thee: by this we believe that thou camest forth from God. Jesus answered them, Do ye now believe? Behold, the hour cometh, yea, is now come, that ye shall be scattered, every man to his own, and shall leave me alone: and yet I am not alone, because the Father is with me. These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.
[45] John 17:20-26 Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word; That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me. And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one: I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me. Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world. O righteous Father, the world hath not known thee: but I have known thee, and these have known that thou hast sent me. And I have declared unto them thy name, and will declare it: that the love wherewith thou hast loved me may be in them, and I in them.
[46] John 19:35 And he that saw it bare record, and his record is true: and he knoweth that he saith true, that ye might believe.
[47] John 20:25 The other disciples therefore said unto him, We have seen the Lord. But he said unto them, Except I shall see in his hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and thrust my hand into his side, I will not believe.
[48] John 20:31 But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.
- How do you get life through His name? Believe that Jesus is the Christ which means Savior.
- The Son of God who is equal with God has that power.
[49] Acts 8:37 And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.
- The eunuch in that verse right there believed before he was baptized.
- What’s the requirement for baptism? You must first believe.
[50] Acts 13:39 And by him all that believe are justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses.
- Works of the law can never justify you in front of God.
You Are Saved By Grace Through Faith
[51] Acts 15:7-11 And when there had been much disputing, Peter rose up, and said unto them, Men and brethren, ye know how that a good while ago God made choice among us, that the Gentiles by my mouth should hear the word of the gospel, and believe. And God, which knoweth the hearts, bare them witness, giving them the Holy Ghost, even as he did unto us; And put no difference between us and them, purifying their hearts by faith. Now therefore why tempt ye God, to put a yoke upon the neck of the disciples, which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear? But we believe that through the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ we shall be saved, even as they.
- This verse says we are saved by grace through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.
[52] Acts 16:31 And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.
- How are you saved? Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. That’s it. I don’t see anything else right there.
[53] Acts 19:4 Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus.
- The definition of the baptism of repentance is given right here.
- It says the baptism of repentance is to believe on Christ Jesus. That’s it.
- Change your mind and believe.
[54] Romans 3:22 Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:
[55] Romans 4:11 And he received the sign of circumcision, a seal of the righteousness of the faith which he had yet being uncircumcised: that he might be the father of all them that believe, though they be not circumcised; that righteousness might be imputed unto them also:
[56] Romans 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
[57] Romans 10:14 How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?
[58] 2 Corinthians 4:4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.
- Don’t let the world blind you. Allow God Almighty to be YOUR GOD.
- Don’t let anything else in this world take priority over God, or you’ll be blinded.
- Open your eyes and believe what God says.
If You Believe, You Should Speak It
[59] 2 Corinthians 4:13 We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak;
- If you believe, SPEAK IT!
[60] Galatians 3:22 But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe.
[61] Ephesians 1:15-23 Wherefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus, and love unto all the saints, Cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers; That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him: The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power, Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places, Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come: And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church, Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all.
- The True Gospel of Jesus Christ is right there in that passage of Scripture.
[62] Philippians 1:27-30 Only let your conversation be as it becometh the gospel of Christ: that whether I come and see you, or else be absent, I may hear of your affairs, that ye stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel; And in nothing terrified by your adversaries: which is to them an evident token of perdition, but to you of salvation, and that of God. For unto you it is given in the behalf of Christ, not only to believe on him, but also to suffer for his sake; Having the same conflict which ye saw in me, and now hear to be in me.
[63] 1 Thessalonians 2:10-12 Ye are witnesses, and God also, how holily and justly and unblameably we behaved ourselves among you that believe: As ye know how we exhorted and comforted and charged every one of you, as a father doth his children, That ye would walk worthy of God, who hath called you unto his kingdom and glory.
- Hey, if you’re a child of God, act like it. Walk worthy of God. Don’t continue in sin.
- Get better. Act like you have that amazing gift that God gave you.
[64] 1 Thessalonians 2:13 For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe.
[65] 1 Thessalonians 4:14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.
- All people who have ever believed on Jesus Christ as their Saviour will be there at the Rapture in the clouds with all of us who believe.
- That is the Day of Redemption! It doesn’t mention anything other than BELIEVING.
[66] 2 Thessalonians 1:10 When he shall come to be glorified in his saints, and to be admired in all them that believe (because our testimony among you was believed) in that day.
[67] 2 Thessalonians 2:9-12 Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.
- Simply receive the TRUE WORDS in the Bible and be saved once and for all. That’s it.
Believe On Him To Life Everlasting
[68] 1 Timothy 1:16 Howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might shew forth all longsuffering, for a pattern to them which should hereafter believe on him to life everlasting.
- Believe on Jesus Christ to life everlasting. There’s nothing easier or better than that.
[69] 1 Timothy 4:10 For therefore we both labour and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Saviour of all men, specially of those that believe.
- Jesus is the Saviour for all those who believe. For those that don’t, they won’t be saved.
- And the Bible tells us there is no excuse for that because God is within all people everywhere.
- Look around. His creation gives proof of Him. The Bible says so.
[70] Hebrews 10:39 But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul.
- This verse tells us how to be saved. It’s to them that believe.
[71] 1 Peter 1:19-21 But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot: Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you, Who by him do believe in God, that raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God.
[72] 1 John 3:23 And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment.
- If you believe, you’re in the group of people who should love one another.
- God NEVER tells us to love evil or evil people.
[73] 1 John 5:13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.
[74] Isaiah 28:16 Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD, Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner stone, a sure foundation: he that believeth shall not make haste.
- He that believeth shall not be ashamed, shall not flee, shall not make haste, shall not run away.
Once You Believe On Jesus, You Have Everlasting Life
[75] Mark 16:16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.
[76] John 3:15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.
[77] John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
[78] John 3:18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
[79] John 3:36 He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.
[80] John 5:24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.
- Once you believe, you HAVE everlasting life. Jesus said so.
- Don’t argue with me about gaining everlasting life, about working for it until you get it, blah, blah, blah.
- Jesus said it right here. Once you believeth on God, you have everlasting life.
- If that’s not enough, He says you are passed from death unto life. It’s already done.
[81] John 6:35 And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.
[82] John 6:40 And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.
- What’s the will of the Father? It’s for everyone to believe and to receive everlasting life.
[83] John 6:47 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.
[84] John 11:25-26 Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?
[85] John 12:44 Jesus cried and said, He that believeth on me, believeth not on me, but on him that sent me.
- If you believe on Jesus, you believe on God. If you don’t believe on Jesus, you don’t believe on God.
[86] John 12:46 I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness.
[87] John 14:12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.
Whosoever Believeth In Him Shall Receive Remission of Sins
[88] Acts 10:43 To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins.
- How do you receive remission of sins? Believe. It’s not baptism. Acts 2:38 doesn’t say baptism saves you.
- Acts 2:38 says you are to be baptized BECAUSE you have already received remission of sins.
- Pickers and choosers will pick and choose Acts 2:38 and will use a few more verses to say: “SEE, YOU MUST BE BAPTIZED TO BE SAVED.”
- If you’re listening now, you should see hundreds of verses that say YOU MYST BELIEVE and that’s it.
- They choose verses that they take out of context.
[89] Romans 4:5 But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.
- To HIM THAT WORKETH NOT. It’s not of your works.
[90] Romans 10:4 For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.
[91] 1 Peter 2:6 Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Sion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believeth on him shall not be confounded.
[92] 1 John 5:1 Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him.
[93] 1 John 5:5 Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?
- You overcome the world by believing on Jesus Christ. You don’t overcome by living a better life.
- Jesus overcomes. We don’t. We believe on Jesus to save us, and He will because He said He would.
[94] 1 John 5:10 He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son.
Now that you’ve read all of this scripture from God’s word, let’s take a quick test.
[95] Romans 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
- Must you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus to be saved?
- No, you do not have to confess with your mouth to be saved.
- The only thing it takes to be saved is the belief that Jesus Christ has been raised from the dead by God.
- Notice the verse confess with your mouth AND believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead.
- The second part of that sentence is the part that saves you.
- But, if you believe in your heart and confess with your mouth, you are saved!
Faith Is The Only Part That Saves You
If you believe that second part, you can add anything else to it and you will be saved.
- The Bible does this same thing in many different spots. You must understand that belief saves you.
- And yes, you should confess it and get it out! But this is a good work that does not save you.
- What about people who can’t speak?
- Would God send those people to hell because they believed but couldn’t speak with their mouth?
- No, of course not.
[96] John 12:42-43 Nevertheless among the chief rulers also many believed on him; but because of the Pharisees they did not confess him, lest they should be put out of the synagogue: For they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God.
- Did the people who believed on Him in the verses above go to heaven? They didn’t confess Jesus.
- Were they saved?
- Yes, of course they were saved because the Bible tells us over and over again that you must believe to be saved.
- They went to heaven. Did you see all of the verses that say so?
- There is no other evidence required but the word of God. His words are true!
- What about people who do great works in the name of Jesus, but they don’t believe on Jesus?
- Do the great works automatically mean that you believe on Jesus? Let’s look at these verses.
[97] Matthew 7:21-23 Jesus Himself Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
- The will of the Father is heaven is to believe on Jesus Christ.
- Jesus Himself tells us that wonderful works without the belief on Jesus gets you absolutely nothing.
- You must first believe on Jesus. Without that belief, the works mean nothing.
- Jesus tells us in the verse above that He never knew those people.
- He also calls them workers of iniquity because any works not done through faith in Jesus Christ are not wonderful works.
- These were false teachers and false prophets that confessed Jesus to man, but NEVER believed on Jesus Christ the Son of God.
- Good works aren’t good works unless you have faith first in Jesus Christ.
[98] Romans 10:3-4 For they being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God. For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.
- All you have to do is believe on Jesus Christ.
- The true Gospel of Jesus Christ is very simple and easy to understand.
- Yet, Satan has corrupted the Bibles and the churches, and we have allowed this to happen.
- It’s time to put a stop to this.
Jesus Christ Is All You Need
[99] 2 Corinthians 11:3 But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.
- Once you have Christ, that’s all you need.
- How could you NEED anything else but JESUS CHRIST on your side?
- If you understand who Jesus is, you’ll KNOW that you need nothing else to be saved.
- You must believe that it’s 100% JESUS and 0% YOU. This is what gets you into heaven.
- You can’t get there without 100% JESUS to get you there. If anything depends on you, you won’t make it.
- This is GOOD NEWS because JESUS did it all! Here’s another verse to think about.
[100] John 6:40 And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.
- According to the verse above, do you need to see Jesus to be saved and receive everlasting life?
- If we need to see Jesus first, we’re in trouble. Jesus is seated on the right hand of the Father.
- If you don’t physically SEE JESUS, are you going to hell?
No, you do not need to see Jesus to make it to heaven. This is the same logic as we have been using.
- Jesus says that every one who sees Him AND believes on Him may have everlasting life.
- It’s the second part of that sentence that gets you eternal life.
- Again, you can add anything to believing on Him and you will be saved.
- You can say that anyone who travels around the world and believes on Jesus will be saved.
- Or, you can say anyone who is 90 years old and believes on Jesus will be saved. All of these are correct.
- Jesus made this very simple. Believe on Him and you shall be saved. Let’s try another one.
[101] Mark 16:15-16 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.
- Do you have to be baptized to be saved?
- Let’s look at the verses below before we answer.
[102] Luke 23:32-43 And there were also two other, malefactors, led with him to be put to death. And when they were come to the place, which is called Calvary, there they crucified him, and the malefactors, one on the right hand, and the other on the left. Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots. And the people stood beholding. And the rulers also with them derided him, saying, He saved others; let him save himself, if he be Christ, the chosen of God. And the soldiers also mocked him, coming to him, and offering him vinegar, And saying, If thou be the king of the Jews, save thyself. And a superscription also was written over him in letters of Greek, and Latin, and Hebrew, THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS. And one of the malefactors which were hanged railed on him, saying, If thou be Christ, save thyself and us. But the other answering rebuked him, saying, Dost not thou fear God, seeing thou art in the same condemnation? And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this man hath done nothing amiss. And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom. And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise.
- One of the two malefactors on a cross beside Jesus simply believed on Jesus, and Jesus granted Him the gift of eternal life immediately.
- That man was NEVER baptized, but He gained the gift of eternal life.
- The Bible NEVER says you have to be baptized to be saved.
- Being baptized is a first step of obedience to Jesus Christ, and it is a GOOD WORK that should be done.
- But good works don’t get you into heaven. Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ gets you into heaven.
[103] John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
- Is Jesus lying to us in John 3:16 or the hundreds of other verses we’ve seen today? Of course not.
- Jesus cannot lie. He says the same thing throughout the Bible. Believe and receive everlasting life.
Forgiveness of Sins Only Comes Through Jesus Christ
[104] Acts 10:43 To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins.
- In order to be baptized, you MUST first believe on Jesus Christ.
- This is the requirement for baptism GIVEN in the Bible.
- Once you believe, you have already received the indwelling of the Holy Spirit.
- The Bible tells us this over and over again.
[105] Acts 8:35-38 Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus. And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized? And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him.
- I will leave you with one last set of verses that answers the question directly: “What must I do to be saved?”
[106] Acts 16:25-34 And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them. And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken: and immediately all the doors were opened, and every one’s bands were loosed. And the keeper of the prison awaking out of his sleep, and seeing the prison doors open, he drew out his sword, and would have killed himself, supposing that the prisoners had been fled. But Paul cried with a loud voice, saying, Do thyself no harm: for we are all here. Then he called for a light, and sprang in, and came trembling, and fell down before Paul and Silas, And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved? And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house. And they spake unto him the word of the Lord, and to all that were in his house. And he took them the same hour of the night, and washed their stripes; and was baptized, he and all his, straightway. And when he had brought them into his house, he set meat before them, and rejoiced, believing in God with all his house.
- I hope today with everything that I have that this shows you the truth within the Bible.
- Not one time is repenting of sins a requirement to be saved within the Bible.
- The book of John, which has the purpose of saving people, NEVER once uses the word repent.
- The phrase repent and believe the Gospel simply means to change your mind and believe.
- This takes no work on your part.
- Repenting of sins is a work because you MUST change your life and stop sinning.
- Repenting of sin is a GREAT WORK, but works will never save you.
Instead, accept the true Gospel of Jesus Christ and believe on the Son of God to save you.
- Know that He is THE ONLY WAY to eternal life. This doesn’t depend on you or your works at all.
- There’s nothing you can do to keep the gift of eternal life. Jesus is that keeper, and you can rely on Him.
- He has you in HIS HAND once you believe, and no one (not even yourself) can get away from OUR AMAZING Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Thank you Jesus for all that you’ve done for us. The true Gospel of Jesus Christ will change your life FOREVER!
- No other gospel but the true Gospel will save you! The true Gospel seals you with the Holy Spirit.
- You will continue to sin in the flesh (less and less if you walk in the Spirit more than the flesh), but the Spirit has sealed your soul and sin is no longer counted to your soul. To heaven you will go.
- Now go out there and do your best. Walk in the Spirit each day and resist the desires of the flesh.
- You are not perfect. You will mess up, but you’re going to be okay now.
Let’s pray.
