[2] The title of the sermon: “DANIEL’S 70th WEEK VS. THE TRIBULATION.”

A Fable Being Spread Is Daniel’s 70th Week = 7 Years of Tribulation

  • There is a huge fable that’s been spread for many years now.
  • The people who teach and preach this fable will say that the tribulation is a seven year period of time.
  • But ask them for Scriptures on that and they won’t have any. Why? Because there are none.
  • They will twist some Scriptures to make them say what they want, but that’s not what they say.
  • Daniel’s 70th week does not equal the tribulation. The Bible doesn’t say that anywhere.
  • And Matthew Chapter 24 proves that the tribulation does not equal Daniel’s 70th week.

Daniel’s 70th week is the end times events. This last week is the end times.

  • Daniel’s 70th week is a period of time that equals 7 years.
  • The tribulation occurs within that 7 year period of time. The tribulation doesn’t last the entire 7 years.
  • The great tribulation is not the second half of Daniel’s 70th week.
  • The Bible also NEVER ONCE teaches this. But these fables are constantly spread.
  • These fables are not in the Bible. Today, let’s see what is actually in the Bible.

To start, let’s find the Scriptures that describe what we call Daniel’s 70th week.

  • We look to the Book of Daniel. We go to Daniel Chapter 9.
  • And please keep in mind that Daniel Chapter 9 is difficult Scripture.
  • But we have the light of the New Testament to help us.

[3] Daniel 9:24 Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy.

  • We see that there will be a total of 70 weeks up unto the end. We call this final week the end times.
  • Daniel’s 70th and final week includes the end times events that the Bible describes in Revelation.
  • Matthew Chapter 24, Mark Chapter 13, and Luke Chapter 21 also describe the end times events.

[4] Daniel 9:25 Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times.

  • You can see that the Bible splits these 70 weeks into 3 different periods of time. I didn’t make this split.
  • God made this split. I’m not smart enough, wise enough, or intelligent enough to come up with all this.
  • God wrote this. Daniel had trouble understanding it, but he didn’t have the New Testament.
  • We now have the New Testament to help us understand all of this Scripture.

We have 7 weeks out of 70 total weeks to restore and to build Jerusalem and unto the Messiah.

  • Then we have a second division within the 70 weeks.
  • The next period of time is threescore and two weeks or 62 weeks.
  • The street shall be rebuilt again and the wall even in troublous times.

So far, in these 2 divisions of time there are 7 weeks and 62 weeks.

  • Add those up and you get a total of 69 weeks. There’s one more week left to make 70 weeks.
  • And that is the week we are all waiting for. Many people think we are already in the tribulation.
  • I do not. People love to make themselves very important.
  • People love to think everything is going to happen when they are here. I do not.
  • I do not believe there will be any question when we are actually in the tribulation.
  • Does it appear to be getting closer? Yes, it does. But it’s always getting closer as times moves on.

[5] Daniel 9:26 And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined.

  • At the end of the 62 weeks, or 69 weeks total, the Messiah shall be cut off.
  • 69 weeks have occurred. I’m not going to preach about those things in this sermon.
  • You can see the verse by verse Book of Daniel study we’ve done to learn more.
  • So, look, there’s one week left. This is what we call Daniel’s 70th week.

[6] Daniel 9:27 And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.

  • This is speaking of the last week. We call this Daniel’s 70th week.
  • This is the 70th and final week of Daniel’s prophecy.
  • And we learn something here that we don’t want to forget for later.
  • “And in the MIDST of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease.”
  • “And for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate.”

So, we know something is going to happen in the MIDST or MIDDLE of the week.

  • We call this the abomination of desolation. We’ll talk more about this later.
  • But, keep in mind, that the abomination of desolation happens right in the middle of the week.
  • The sacrifice and oblation will stop. Oblation is an offering or a sacrifice.
  • We know that Daniel’s 70th week is describing the end times.
  • We know this because Jesus Christ ties all of this together for us. I didn’t make up. Jesus Christ says this:

[7] Matthew 24:15 When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:)

  • If you know Matthew Chapter 24, you’ll know that the disciples ask Jesus at the beginning of the chapter:
  • “And what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world.”
  • Jesus is answering the question that His disciples just asked Him in Matthew Chapter 24.
  • And as you see there in verse 15, Jesus Christ ties the abomination of desolation that we just saw in Daniel to the end times events.
  • The abomination of desolation is one of the end times events.

The Abomination Of Desolation Occurs Before The Rapture And Second Coming Of Jesus Christ

And if you carefully read Matthew Chapter 24, you’ll see that the abomination of desolation occurs BEFORE Jesus Christ comes in the clouds at His second coming.

  • And we’ll look closer at the Scriptures in Matthew Chapter as we continue in this sermon.
  • But, for now, let’s take a look at Mark Chapter 13 which is a parallel passage to Matthew Chapter 24.

[8] Mark 13:14 But when ye shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing where it ought not, (let him that readeth understand,) then let them that be in Judaea flee to the mountains:

  • We see the abomination of desolation, SPOKEN OF BY DANIEL THE PROPHET, preached here again.
  • So, the Book of Daniel is prophesying about end times events.
  • And we know the abomination of desolation takes place in the middle of Daniel’s 70th week.
  • So, we can see that Daniel’s 70th week is about end times events. Do you see this connection?
  • Jesus ties Daniel’s 70th week to the end times events.
  • Remember, the disciples ash Jesus the following question:

[9] Matthew 24:3 And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?

  • The abomination of desolation is a sign of the second coming of Jesus Christ.
  • This MUST happen before Jesus comes back. This MUST happen before the end of the world.
  • Luke Chapter 21 is another parallel passage for Matthew 24 and Mark 13.

[10] Luke 21:20-21 And when ye shall see Jerusalem compassed with armies, then know that the desolation thereof is nigh. 21 Then let them which are in Judaea flee to the mountains; and let them which are in the midst of it depart out; and let not them that are in the countries enter thereinto.

  • When will the abomination of desolation happen? We know it will be in the middle of Daniel’s 70th week.
  • But Luke Chapter 21 says: “And when ye shall see Jerusalem compassed with armies, then know that the desolation thereof is night.”
  • So Jesus gives us a sign to look for. We’ll know that the abomination of desolation is near.
  • We’ll know that we are almost in the MIDST of Daniel’s 70th week.

But let’s take a closer look at Daniel’s 70th week. How long does this Bible prophetic “WEEK” last.

  • A week is 7 days. But, within the Bible, a prophetic week is not one 24-hour day.
  • How long is Daniel’s 70th week, which consists of 7 days? How long does it actually last?

[11] Numbers 14:34 After the number of the days in which ye searched the land, even forty days, each day for a year, shall ye bear your iniquities, even forty years, and ye shall know my breach of promise.

  • Notice that this Scripture says each day for a year. A week is 7 days. This would equate to 7 years.
  • If we used this conversion, Daniel’s 70th week would be a period of 7 years.

[12] Ezekiel 4:6 And when thou hast accomplished them, lie again on thy right side, and thou shalt bear the iniquity of the house of Judah forty days: I have appointed thee each day for a year.

  • Again, each day for a year. 7 days would equal 7 years. 1 week would equal 7 years.
  • Daniel’s 70th week would be a period of time that equals 7 years.
  • The end times events described by Jesus Christ in Matthew 24, Mark 13, Luke 21, and in Revelation would last a period of 7 years.
  • This means the abomination of desolation would be in the middle of that week or in the middle of the 7 year period.
  • Let’s put some numbers in a table so you can see how all of this equates.

[13]

Daniel’s 70th week is a prophetic week. This is 7 days. 1 day is 1 year in a prophetic conversion.

  • 7 days in Daniel’s 70th week is actually 7 years. 7 years is 84 months.
  • 1 month in the Bible is 30 days. 1 year in the Bible is 360 days.
  • Every 7th year you would then get a leap month. You would be missing 5 days from each year.
  • Our years are 365 days. Years in the Bible are 360 days. You would have an extra 30 days every 7th year.
  • Using the Bible’s definition for a month, 7 years is a total of 2520 days.
  • 3.5 years would be 1260 days. Now, remember the numbers in this table.
  • This is going to help us further prove that Daniel’s 70th week is a period of 7 years.

Remember that 1260 days is half of Daniel’s 70th week or 3.5 years.

  • Remember 1290 days would be half of Daniel’s 70th week plus an extra 30 days such as a leap month.
  • Remember 42 months is 3.5 years or half of Daniel’s 70th week.
  • The Bible clearly gives us many of these numbers. Again, I didn’t make these up. God wrote them.
  • Let’s further prove that Daniel’s 70th week is a period of 7 years.

[14] Leviticus 25:8 And thou shalt number seven sabbaths of years unto thee, seven times seven years; and the space of the seven sabbaths of years shall be unto thee forty and nine years.

  • The duration of seven sabbaths would be 7 weeks. The Bible says, “Seven times seven years.”
  • Each prophetic week is a period of 7 years. In this example, 7 weeks equals 49 years.
  • Daniel’s 70th week matches this. 1 week equals 7 years.

The Abomination Of Desolation Cuts Daniel’s 70th Week Into 2 Halves Each 3.5 Years In Duration

So, the abomination of desolation cuts Daniel’s 70th week into 2 halves.

  • The first half is 3.5 years and the second half is 3.5 years. The two halves equal 7 years total.
  • If you had to describe 3.5 years in a different way, how would you do it?
  • I want to show you how God does this in a different way.

[15] Daniel 12:7 And I heard the man clothed in linen, which was upon the waters of the river, when he held up his right hand and his left hand unto heaven, and sware by him that liveth for ever that it shall be for a time, times, and an half; and when he shall have accomplished to scatter the power of the holy people, all these things shall be finished.

  • A time, times, and a half a time. A time would equal 1 year. Times would be 2 years.
  • Half a time would be half a year. This would equal 3.5 years. Time, times, and half a time.
  • Add that up and you would get 3.5 years.
  • And you might say, this still does not prove Daniel’s 70th week is a 7-year period of time.

[16] Daniel 7:23-25 Thus he said, The fourth beast shall be the fourth kingdom upon earth, which shall be diverse from all kingdoms, and shall devour the whole earth, and shall tread it down, and break it in pieces. 24 And the ten horns out of this kingdom are ten kings that shall arise: and another shall rise after them; and he shall be diverse from the first, and he shall subdue three kings. 25 And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time.

  • This is talking about the antichrist. “He shall speak great words against the most High.”
  • “He shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws.”
  • “And they shall be given into his hand until a time, times, and the dividing of time.
  • This is clearly speaking of the tribulation. He’s going to wear out the saints of the most High.
  • These saved, sanctified, or saints will go through tribulation.

But we see again: TIME, TIMES, AND DIVIDING OF TIME. This is 3.5 years.

  • So, we have one half of Daniel’s 70th week seen here again.
  • This still might not prove to you that Daniel’s 70th week is a 7-year period. Let’s keep going.
  • Notice that we haven’t seen anything say that the tribulation is a 7-year period.
  • We haven’t seen anything say that Daniel’s 70th week is “The Tribulation.”
  • I want you to look closely at Daniel 7:25 right there. What does it say?
  • “And he shall speak great words against the most High.” Do you see that? Watch this.

[17] Revelation 13:5-7 And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and power was given unto him to continue forty and two months. 6 And he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme his name, and his tabernacle, and them that dwell in heaven. 7 And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations.

  • This is describing the antichrist just as Daniel describes the antichrist.
  • “Power was given unto him to continue forty and two months.” 42 months equals how many years?
  • 3.5 years equals 42 months or half of Daniel’s 70th week.
  • We see the antichrist will continue for 42 months or 3.5 years.

He’s there for the entire 7 years, but he’s given power to continue in the second half of Daniel’s 70th week.

  • This should help you see that Daniel’s 70th week is a period of 7 years.
  • But maybe this still doesn’t prove it to you. So, let’s keep going.

[18] Revelation 12:5-6 And she brought forth a man child, who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron: and her child was caught up unto God, and to his throne. 6 And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she hath a place prepared of God, that they should feed her there a thousand two hundred and threescore days.

  • We see 1,260 days here in verse 6 of Revelation Chapter 12.
  • Look further down in Revelation Chapter 12. Go to verse 14.

[19] Revelation 12:14-15 And to the woman were given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness, into her place, where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent. 15 And the serpent cast out of his mouth water as a flood after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away of the flood.

  • We see that this woman is in tribulation caused by the devil.
  • We see she is in this for 1,260 days or a time, times, and half a times.
  • Now we know that a time, times, and half a times actually equals 3.5 years.
  • The first half of Daniel’s 70th week is tribulation up to the point of the abomination of desolation.
  • The antichrist is not in power during the tribulation, but he is causing all of this trouble.
  • He’s getting stronger and stronger throughout the tribulation.

Once the middle of Daniel’s 70th week gets there, the abomination of desolation occurs.

  • This is when he comes into power. At that point, he focuses on the saints of God.
  • He focuses on the saved people who obviously wouldn’t take the mark of the beast and bow down to him.
  • They wouldn’t worship him so he gets angry and makes war against the saints.

[20] Revelation 12:17 And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.

  • The great tribulation starts at the abomination of desolation.
  • Then Jesus Christ comes in the clouds to end the great tribulation.
  • And then God pours out His wrath for the rest of Daniel’s 70th week.

Daniel’s 70th Week Is A 7-Year Period Of Time But The Tribulation Is Only A Part Of The 7 Years

There’s more than that within the Bible that proves Daniel’s 70th week is a 7-year period of time.

  • Hopefully that is enough to prove this to you, but let’s continue.
  • We know that 7 years is 2,520 days. We see additional Scripture talking about end times.
  • All of these numbers that we see fit into a time period less than 2,520 days. Some are close.

[21] Daniel 8:14 And he said unto me, Unto two thousand and three hundred days; then shall the sanctuary be cleansed.

  • We see 2,300 days right here. This is the time period from the start of the daily sacrifice to the end.

[22] Daniel 12:11-12 And from the time that the daily sacrifice shall be taken away, and the abomination that maketh desolate set up, there shall be a thousand two hundred and ninety days. 12 Blessed is he that waiteth, and cometh to the thousand three hundred and five and thirty days.

  • We see 1,290 days there which is 3.5 years plus 30 days. We see 1,335 days there.
  • This is from the start of Daniel’s 70th week to the time Jesus comes in the clouds.
  • Notice all of these time periods fit within the 7-year period.
  • We don’t see any numbers that go outside of this 7-year period of time.

[23] Revelation 11:2-3 But the court which is without the temple leave out, and measure it not; for it is given unto the Gentiles: and the holy city shall they tread under foot forty and two months. 3 And I will give power unto my two witnesses, and they shall prophesy a thousand two hundred and threescore days, clothed in sackcloth.

  • From the abomination of desolation until the end, the holy city shall be tread under foot. How long?
  • Forty and two months. Do you see how all of this goes together?
  • The two witnesses that God sends in the end times will prophesy for 1,260 days or 3.5 years.
  • This prophesying of the two witnesses will start at the abomination of desolation.

If Daniel’s 70th week was anything other than a 7-year period of time, these numbers wouldn’t make sense.

  • Do you see this? So, we know for sure that Daniel’s 70th week is a 7-year period of time.
  • And this includes 7 years of 360 days each year.
  • And then, obviously, we’ll have some extra days at the end because of the leap days.
  • We’ll have 30 extra days at the end. When you see this, you’ll see how all the numbers fit perfectly.
  • But we aren’t focusing on the entire timeline of end times events today.

We’re looking at something much simpler today. We’re proving that the Tribulation is not a 7-year period of time.

  • We’re proving that Daniel’s 70th week is a 7-year period of time.
  • And we’re proving that the Tribulation does not equal Daniel’s 70th week.
  • The Tribulation is within Daniel’s 70th week. It’s just one part of Daniel’s 70th week.
  • I’ve searched the Scriptures. I’ve read through the Bible numerous times.

The Bible never equates Daniel’s 70th week to being the Tribulation.

  • The Bible never says the the Tribulation is Daniel’s 70th week.
  • There is not 7 years of tribulation. There is approximately 3.5 years of tribulation.
  • And approximately 3.5 years of God pouring out His wrath. God’s wrath and tribulation are not the same.

The first 5 seals that you see in the Book of Revelation are caused by the antichrist. This is the tribulation.

  • We see 5 seals, the abomination of desolation, and then the great tribulation begins.
  • The great tribulation only lasts about 2.5 months because Jesus comes back and cuts it short.
  • When we see seal 6, we know the tribulation and great tribulation is over.
  • The great tribulation is just an extension of the tribulation. Tribulation turns to great tribulation.
  • We see that the tribulation ends during Daniel’s 70th week, but Daniel’s 70th week continues.
  • Once Jesus comes in the clouds to rapture us away at His second coming, THEN God’s wrath begins.
  • God’s wrath is a part of Daniel’s 70th week but is not a part of the tribulation.

During the tribulation, the antichrist is causing the tribulation. You will see that it is not God causing the problems.

  • Then Jesus comes back in the clouds. And then God’s wrath is poured out.
  • The trumpets and the vials are God’s wrath. The antichrist isn’t doing these things.
  • The trumpets and the vials are coming from heaven. So, there’s a huge difference.

For approximately the first half of Daniel’s 70th week, the antichrist is causing tribulation.

  • At halfway through, we see the abomination of desolation caused by the antichrist.
  • Then we see tribulation turn to great tribulation.
  • We then see Jesus come back a little over halfway through Daniel’s 70th week.
  • We know the tribulation is over when Jesus comes back.
  • We then see God’s wrath being poured out for approximately the last 3.5 years of Daniel’s 70th week.

So, the antichrist is causing the problems in approximately the first half of Daniel’s 70th week.

  • The saints are still on earth because the rapture happens at the second coming of Jesus Christ.
  • Once the rapture occurs at the second coming, God then pours out His wrath.
  • This occurs during approximately the second half of Daniel’s 70th week.
  • God causes the problems for the people remaining on earth during the second half of Daniel’s 70th week.

The Tribulation Does Not Last For 7 Years

Now, I am going to prove to you that the tribulation doesn’t last for the entire 7-year period.

  • I am going to use the Scriptures. Others will just throw out accusations that I am wrong.
  • They won’t use the Scriptures or they’ll use these stupid arguments that don’t make any sense.
  • They’ll say things like “wedding feasts for Jews are 7 days so the tribulation is 7 years.”

There’s no Scripture that says anything like that. “Because a wedding feast is 7 days, the tribulation is 7 days.”

  • We’re going to use very clear Scripture that tells us the tribulation doesn’t last all of Daniel’s 70th week.
  • It’s so easy to see that you should smack yourself upside the head for falling for false preaching.

The Book of Revelation includes Daniel’s 70th week in its entirety.

  • The first 5 seals are the tribulation. At seal 6, the tribulation is over.
  • Jesus comes in the clouds at His second coming.
  • Then we see seal 7 in which God’s wrath begins.
  • Then we see the trumpets and vials up until the end of Daniel’s 70th week.
  • That’s a general overview of Daniel’s 70th week, and it’s very easy to see in Revelation.
  • How do we know the tribulation is over once we get to seal 6? Matthew Chapter 24 and Mark Chapter 13.

[24] Matthew 24:3 And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?

  • “Jesus, what shall be the sign of thy coming and of the end of the world?”
  • Jesus is going to answer this. NOT A FALSE PREACHER. Jesus Christ will answer these questions right here.
  • Let’s now see what Jesus Christ says in ORDER. Next verse.

[25] Matthew 24:4-5 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you. 5 For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.

  • Daniel’s 70th week begins with the antichrist. Compare these Scriptures with Revelation IN ORDER.
  • Seal 1 matches this. This is Daniel’s 70th week. And this is the tribulation.
  • What’s next? You could go to Revelation to see what is next.

[26] Matthew 24:6 And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.

  • There’s seal 2 with wars. This is still Daniel’s 70th week and still the tribulation.
  • This is not the sermon where I match up Matthew Chapter 24 to Revelation directly.
  • I’m moving through Matthew Chapter 24 to show you where the Tribulation ends.

[27] Matthew 24:7-9 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places. 8 All these are the beginning of sorrows. 9 Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name’s sake.

  • There’s seal 3, 4, and 5 famine, death, and martyr’s or people who die for Jesus Christ.
  • Notice that God isn’t causing these things. Satan is causing these things.
  • God doesn’t deliver up His people to be killed.

So, there’s the first 5 seals in Matthew Chapter 24. You can do the same with Mark 13 and Luke 21.

  • Remember that all these things are the sign of the coming of Jesus Christ.
  • All these things MUST happen before Jesus Christ comes back in the clouds.

[28] Matthew 24:10-14 And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another. 11 And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many. 12 And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. 13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved. 14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.

[29] Matthew 24:15 When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:)

  • So, after seal 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5, we will see the abomination of desolation.
  • You can compare the abomination of desolation to king Nebuchadnezzar in Daniel Chapter 3.
  • He was trying to make everyone bow down to worship the golden image.
  • The abomination of desolation will be similar. Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego wouldn’t do it.
  • And king Nebuchadnezzar had great wrath against them.
  • That’s what will happen with the antichrist.

The Great Tribulation Begins At The Abomination Of Desolation When Christians Won’t Worship The Image

When true Christians won’t bow down, the great tribulation will begin. It’s just an extension of the tribulation.

  • Tribulation turns into great tribulation. So, seals 1 through 5 are definitely tribulation.
  • Then, we see the abomination of desolation. The abomination of desolation is a part of the tribulation.
  • What happens next in Matthew Chapter 24?

[30] Matthew 24:16-20 Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains: 17 Let him which is on the housetop not come down to take any thing out of his house: 18 Neither let him which is in the field return back to take his clothes. 19 And woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days! 20 But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day:

  • The antichrist is now coming for Christians starting in Jerusalem where he is located.
  • Flee to the mountains. If you’re on the other side of the world, you’ll probably have more time.
  • So, we can clearly see the order of end times events in Matthew Chapter 24.
  • Clearly, God’s people will go through tribulation. Now, what do we see next?
  • And please note that I didn’t write this. This is the exact order given by Jesus Christ, the King of Kings.

[31] Matthew 24:21-22 For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be. 22 And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect’s sake those days shall be shortened.

  • NOW, WE SEE GREAT TRIBULATION. Tribulation turns to great tribulation just as I’ve been preaching.
  • We’re going to see Jesus Christ coming back in the clouds to rapture believers away AFTER the great tribulation, which is a part of the tribulation in general.

[32] Matthew 24:23-25 Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not. 24 For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect. 25 Behold, I have told you before.

  • But Jesus Christ isn’t coming back until additional things happen.
  • He’s coming back AFTER THE TRIBULATION but before God’s wrath is poured out.
  • Jesus Christ comes back BEFORE the trumpets and vials occur in the Book of Revelation.
  • Let’s continue because the tribulation is about to end.
  • We know it’s over when the Bible says, “AFTER THE TRIBULATION.”
  • If something is “after the tribulation,” then obviously the tribulation is over.

If someone tells you that Christ has now come, but you didn’t see Him, “BELIEVE IT NOT.”

  • Some are going to do great wonders. They will show GREAT SIGNS. Don’t believe it.
  • Jesus says, “Behold, I’ve told you before.” Don’t fall for these things.
  • Jesus is telling you exactly what to look for. If you don’t see all these things, He hasn’t come.

[33] Matthew 24:26-28 Wherefore if they shall say unto you, Behold, he is in the desert; go not forth: behold, he is in the secret chambers; believe it not. 27 For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. 28 For wheresoever the carcase is, there will the eagles be gathered together.

  • You will see Jesus Christ when He comes back in the clouds. The saved will be gathered together to Him.
  • In other words, you will be raptured together with Jesus Christ at His second coming.
  • And this happens when? Let’s see. Remember, at this point, we are still in the tribulation.
  • We are still moving through Daniel’s 70th week. We’ve already seen the abomination of desolation.
  • That happens in the middle of the 7 year period or right at 3.5 years.
  • The tribulation is not yet over at this point. But we are directly after the 3.5 year timeline at this point.

I also want to make it clear that we won’t know exactly when Daniel’s 70th week begins.

  • The antichrist is not in power at the beginning of Daniel’s 70th week. He grows in power.
  • And then he comes into power at the abomination of desolation.
  • When the abomination of desolation hits, though, we’ll know we are at the 3.5 year marker of 7 years.
  • What happens next?

[34] Matthew 24:29-30 Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken: 30 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.

  • We know that the tribulation is over when the sun and moon are darkened.
  • Am I telling you the truth here or not?
  • “Immediately AFTER THE TRIBULATION of those days shall the sun be darkened.”
  • “And the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven.”
  • “And the powers of the heavens shall be shaken.”

So, once we see the sun and moon darkened and the stars fall from heaven, we know the tribulation is over.

  • Jesus Christ says so right there, and He is very clear. But people won’t hear His words.
  • They will call me a liar for preaching what Jesus Christ says. So-called “Christians” do this.
  • They are exactly like the Jews in John Chapter 8. Same thing.

Tribulation Ends When The Sun And Moon Is Darkened At The Sixth Seal But Is Daniel’s 70th Week Over?

Once the sun and moon are darkened, is this at the end of Daniel’s 70th week?

  • If all of Daniel’s 70th week was the tribulation, then Daniel’s 70th week would be over once the sun and moon are darkened.
  • The tribulation is over but Daniel’s 70th week is definitely not over. There’s many more events.
  • We haven’t seen God’s wrath being poured out with the vials and the trumpets.
  • So, we know the signs of the coming of Jesus Christ.

Once the sun and moon are darkened, Jesus is coming back.

  • “And then shall appear the sing of the Son of Man in heaven.”
  • “They shall see the Son of Man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.”
  • When? Right after the tribulation ends when the sun and moon are darkened.
  • We would then look to the Book of Revelation which fully describes Daniel’s 70th week.
  • Where is the sun and moon darkened because this is when Jesus is coming back.
  • Hint: It’s not in Revelation Chapter 19. The sun and moon are not darkened in that chapter.

We search the Scriptures. Before we go to that place in the Scriptures, what are we looking for?

  • Sun darkened. Moon shall not give her light. Stars fall from heaven. Powers of heavens shaken.
  • We go to Revelation Chapter 6. This is far before Revelation Chapter 19.
  • Revelation Chapter 6 is BEFORE any of the trumpets and vials of God’s wrath.
  • Revelation Chapter 19 is AFTER God pours out His wrath with the trumpets and vials.

So, I say the tribulation is over BEFORE Daniel’s 70th week ends and the mainstream preachers say Daniel’s 70th week ends when the tribulation ends.

  • Not even close to each other. I agree with the mainstream preachers 0%. Who will you believe?
  • A preachers who uses the exact words of Jesus Christ or a false preacher?
  • Let’s search the Scriptures. Where in the Book of Revelation is the sun and moon darkened?
  • There’s only one spot in the Book of Revelation.

[35] Revelation 6:9-11 And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held: 10 And they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, O Lord, holy and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth? 11 And white robes were given unto every one of them; and it was said unto them, that they should rest yet for a little season, until their fellowservants also and their brethren, that should be killed as they were, should be fulfilled.

  • There’s the fifth seal with martyrs just like we read earlier in Matthew Chapter 24.
  • Obviously, God’s wrath has not come yet. That means seal one through five are not God’s wrath.
  • The antichrist is doing these things with the power of Satan behind him.
  • Let’s go to the very next verse in Revelation Chapter 6. This is right after seal 5.

[36] Revelation 6:12-13 And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood; 13 And the stars of heaven fell unto the earth, even as a fig tree casteth her untimely figs, when she is shaken of a mighty wind.

  • We were looking for sun darkened. Is that there? CHECK. Sun became black.
  • We were looking for moon shall not give her light. Is that there? CHECK. The moon became as blood.
  • We were looking for stars falling from heaven. Is that there? CHECK. Stars of heaven fell unto the earth.
  • We were looking for powers of heaven shaken. Is that there? CHECK. Great earthquake. Shaking.

So, everything Jesus said in Matthew Chapter 24 is shown right there. Here are all the exact signs He gave us.

  • There is no other place in Revelation that gives us these signs. Revelation Chapter 19 does not.
  • And these things happen AFTER the tribulation but BEFORE God’s wrath is poured out.
  • It’s very easy, simple, and clear to see this.

The Tribulation And Great Tribulation Are Over At The Sixth Seal

So, when is the sun and moon darkened? Look at verse 12 right there.

  • “And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal.” The tribulation is over at the sixth seal.
  • We still have a seventh seal to open. We still have God’s wrath to come with the 7 trumpets and 7 vials.
  • Daniel’s 70th week is not over, but the tribulation is over.
  • Why would people continue to say that the tribulation is a 7-year period of time? What happens next?

[37] Revelation 6:14-15 And the heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled together; and every mountain and island were moved out of their places. 15 And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains;

[38] Revelation 6:16-17 And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb: 17 For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?

  • NOW, GOD’S WRATH IS COME. “For the great day of His wrath is come.”
  • Obviously, seals 1 through 6 do not include God’s wrath because IT IS NOW COME after these things.
  • Do you see this? God gives us His perfect order. Seals 1 through 5 are tribulation.
  • Seal 6 is the sun and moon being darkened AFTER THE TRIBULATION. Jesus is coming right after this.
  • After the tribulation is over, Jesus comes in the clouds AFTER the sun and moon are darkened.
  • Then seal 7 is opened. Then God’s wrath is poured out with the trumpets and vials.

Let’s go back to Matthew Chapter 24. We left off at verse 30.

  • Jesus just came in the clouds AFTER the tribulation when the sun and moon were darkened.
  • What happens when He comes in the clouds? There are not white horses mentioned in Matthew 24.

[39] Matthew 24:30-31 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. 31 And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.

  • Jesus comes in the clouds after the tribulation but before God’s wrath is poured out.
  • He saves His people out of great tribulation. He sends His angels with the sound of a trumpet.
  • He gathers together His elect from one end of heaven to another. The rapture happens.
  • And then the great day of God’s wrath is come. In Revelation Chapter 7, we see this.

[40] Revelation 7:13-14 And one of the elders answered, saying unto me, What are these which are arrayed in white robes? and whence came they? 14 And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.

  • These people show up in heaven, from the rapture, and came out of great tribulation.
  • At the second coming of Jesus Christ, the rapture occurs.
  • And this happens right after the sixth seal and after the tribulation.
  • But Daniel’s 70th week has many more events to occur. THE TRIBULATION IS OVER.
  • Now, the great day of God’s wrath is come. The day of the Lord is a great and terrible day.
  • It is great for the people who are raptured and horrible for the ones who hate God.

The Tribulation Is Not A 7 Year Period Of Time But Is Approximately 3.7 Years

In summary, the tribulation is not a 7-year period of time. The tribulation is approximately 3.5 years.

  • Daniel’s 70th week is a 7-year period of time. The tribulation is not.
  • Daniel’s 70th week begins with the tribulation but it doesn’t end with the tribulation.
  • The tribulation ends just past halfway into Daniel’s 70th week or at about 3.7 years, approximately.

Daniel’s 70th week consists of the tribulation, second coming of Jesus Christ, and then God’s wrath is poured out.

  • Tribulation, second coming, God’s wrath. All of that happens in a 7-year period of time.
  • Tribulation is approximately the first half of Daniel’s 70th week.
  • The second coming of Jesus Christ is approximately just right of the middle of Daniel’s 70th week.
  • God’s wrath is approximately the second half of Daniel’s 70th week.
  • And listen, you can’t argue with this if you would simply listen to the Scriptures. This isn’t difficult.
  • If you would the words of Jesus Christ and forget what you think you know, you would see this easily.

Let’s pray.

After being a premill dispensationalist pre trib rapture believer by default (as in everyone I knew believed that and it was the only position I thought existed) for the majority of my 6 years of being a Christian, then nearly being convinced of a mostly preterist postmill position; I believe this information presented here is the truth. It’s so plain and clear and true.

Hello Derek, thank you so much for leaving a positive comment. Lately, I have been getting blasted by lots of religious lunatics. These lunatics don’t want to actually hear the words of the Bible. They want to be special. They just want me to agree with the false doctrine that is man-made. For example, one man on You Tube this week is trying to tell me that there is a “perfect race” that is called Israel and all of the perfect race will be saved. And, of course, he’s one of the people included in the “perfect race.” Another Hitler running around You Tube. I made him angry. I am glad you see how clear the Bible is with regards to the tribulation. We know for sure that the tribulation is over at the sixth seal when the sun and moon are darkened because Jesus Christ our Savior says so. I am very happy you see this. Now comes the difficult part for you. You can clearly see the truth in the Bible. Most people you know won’t want to see it. Yes, it will get you down but keep trying and keep working to spread the truth. When I first saw the clear truth in the Bible, I was very excited. But others don’t want to hear the truth that will set them free. But don’t be discouraged. Don’t be dismayed. Keep going. Be strong.

    hey Preacher,

Thanks for the sermon. I’ll go check out Daniel 70 weeks also. I had emailed some questions about which printed bibles you felt were best and where you prefer to source them and hadnt heard back. It’s been a couple weeks and I assume its a subject you have an opinion on so my guess is that I went into a spam folder along with some other comments. Or is the email not the best contact?

    1. Joshua Tapp Avatar

      Hello Brendan,

If it was an email with that subject alone, I don’t think I received the email. It may have been within another email that I forgot to answer.

I would just make sure you have a King James Bible. There are 7 major editions (not versions or revisions). If I had to choose an edition, I would choose the Pure Cambridge Edition in 1900. There have been printing changes (font style), spelling changes (examples: seeke to seek and liue to live), and textual changes (Psalm 69:32 is an example: “your heart shall live that seek good” versus “your heart shall live that seek God”). God = good so the meaning is the same. In other words, there are different editions because of printing errors, font difficulty, spelling updates because the English language was new, etc. There are not changes in meaning between the editions as you’ll see in the new modern versions.

Please see this sermon for more information:

Changes To The King James Bible

I hope this answers your questions. When purchasing a Bible, I would check inside to see what edition it might be. Many won’t tell you. I think any of them are good to use as the doctrine being taught does not change. One note: The New King James Version is not equal to the King James Version. The New King James is a corrupted modern “Bible” version.

    Hello Joshua,

    You wrote:
He’s coming back AFTER THE TRIBULATION but before God’s wrath is poured out.
Jesus Christ comes back BEFORE the trumpets and vials occur in the Book of Revelation.

Where does Scripture say this? Could God not pour out wrath on those deserving it, while preserving His people in the midst of His wrath? He did this during the plagues on Egypt before the Exodus; why not again?

    1. Joshua Tapp Avatar

Did you read the entire sermon or listen to it? It’s all right there. To summarize the answer to your question:

Where does the Scripture say this?

Matthew 24:29-31 Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken: 30 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. 31 And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.

Jesus says immediately after the tribulation, He is coming back. The signs to look for directly after the tribulation and right before He comes back are listed right there in verse 29: 1) sun shall be darkened, 2) moon shall not give her light, 3) stars shall fall from heaven, 4) powers of the heavens shall be shaken.

Now, look to the Book of Revelation for those 4 signs.

Revelation 6:12-14 And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood; 13 And the stars of heaven fell unto the earth, even as a fig tree casteth her untimely figs, when she is shaken of a mighty wind. 14 And the heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled together; and every mountain and island were moved out of their places.

All 4 signs are right there in Revelation Chapter 6 at the sixth seal and it is clear as day. Do you see it now? I hope you see it now. That’s at the sixth seal. And then during the sixth seal in Revelation Chapter 6, you see this:

Revelation 6:17 For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?

Now the day of His wrath is come.

If you keep reading into Revelation Chapter 7, you see this during the sixth seal:

Revelation 7:9-14 After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands; 10 And cried with a loud voice, saying, Salvation to our God which sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb. 11 And all the angels stood round about the throne, and about the elders and the four beasts, and fell before the throne on their faces, and worshipped God, 12 Saying, Amen: Blessing, and glory, and wisdom, and thanksgiving, and honour, and power, and might, be unto our God for ever and ever. Amen. 13 And one of the elders answered, saying unto me, What are these which are arrayed in white robes? and whence came they? 14 And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.

This is when the rapture happened matching Matthew 24 verse 31. The Book of Revelation follows the summary Jesus gives us Himself in Matthew 24, Mark 13, and Luke 21. They all match perfectly. Revelation is divided into 1-11 and then the timeline starts over in Revelation 12 when you see Jesus being born. Hint that we’re going back in time much like Daniel 1 through 6 and Daniel 7 through 12. The events are repeated with more/other detail in Revelation. Trumpets and vials line up perfectly. God’s wrath is trumpet 1/vial 1, trumpet 2/vial 2, and so on. You can match those up too. You’ll see Jesus coming in Revelation 14.

Revelation 14:14-16 And I looked, and behold a white cloud, and upon the cloud one sat like unto the Son of man, having on his head a golden crown, and in his hand a sharp sickle. 15 And another angel came out of the temple, crying with a loud voice to him that sat on the cloud, Thrust in thy sickle, and reap: for the time is come for thee to reap; for the harvest of the earth is ripe. 16 And he that sat on the cloud thrust in his sickle on the earth; and the earth was reaped.

The rapture happens at the second coming of Jesus Christ, which is directly after the tribulation. The tribulation is over when the sun and moon are darkened. After the tribulation, the great day of His wrath is come. The Day of the Lord is a great and terrible day. He raptures His people and then pours out His wrath. People can still be saved on earth after His wrath begins because the everlasting Gospel is still being preached until the end. But yes, people can still be saved while He is pouring out His wrath, and He can preserve those people. They missed the first resurrection but will not miss the final resurrection.

Let me know if this doesn’t make sense. The Bible teaches these things very clearly. We just have to study and compare the Scriptures. Once you see it in the Scriptures, there’s no denying it. It’s all right there. I’m not adding anything to them.

Have you been able to put this into a chart/timeline? I believe that you are spot on but I am struggling with two points and that may be clearer with a visual representation. My two points:
    1. I read Daniel 12:11-12 as potentially saying that either the cessation of worship and the abomination of desolation is an instantaneous event (the “majority” view), or alternatively there is a period of 1290 days between the cessation of worship and the abomination of desolation. Therefore, if the witnesses come after the abomination of desolation, the timeline may run longer than the 7 year period (up until this point, everything is within the 7 year timeline as you noted, with 3.5 years being the “tribulation”).
    2. I read Revelation 12:5-6 that the woman who brought forth the child as being Israel. And Matthew 24:16-20 (and also Luke 21:20-21 and Mark 13:14) state its those in Judaea (which is predominately Jewish) who flee and not necessarily Christians. Surely Christians flee as well/later, but here it seems to suggest an exodus of a small number of surviving Jews.

Hello Anthony, sorry for the delay in responding. Yes, I have this in a chart and timeline. Here is a page with a couple of options:

      Daniels’ 70th Week Chart

I highly recommend the chart by Mike Murphy on that page.

Yes, the chart will answer point 1 for you. If not, please let me know, and I will show you where to find the answer on the chart.

As for point 2, I personally believe the woman is Eve as the mother of all humanity since all humans are being persecuted at the start of the tribulation. Satan does not love anyone. Only at the abomination of desolation does the target change to Christians. This is the great tribulation. The antichrist doesn’t come into power until the abomination of desolation. The tribulation, as a whole, last about 2. 5 months longer than the 3.5 year mark.

I know that Scripture well, but it does say to those who are in Judaea:

Matthew 24:16 Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains:

I simply take that as saying that the antichrist will be in Judaea at this time (he goes into the temple), and that the people there should flee. He’s the closest to them in this location. I don’t see this at al as only being Jews. I do know that many preachers attempt to take that verse and say that only Jews will go through tribulation. That is so wrong.

      Hope this helps!
