Loose Lazarus And Let Him Go

John Chapter 11 is an amazing chapter in the Gospel of John. Actually, every chapter in the Book of John is absolutely amazing.

When I read the Bible, I read it through quickly so I can read it many times through each year

But, I also slow down and study the Bible in detail. I’ve found that doing both really helps me understand the Bible as a whole and get all the little details that God wants me to see.

In John Chapter 11, you’ll see that Lazarus dies and is raised from the dead by the one and only Jesus Christ.

John 11:37-39 And some of them said, Could not this man, which opened the eyes of the blind, have caused that even this man should not have died? 38 Jesus therefore again groaning in himself cometh to the grave. It was a cave, and a stone lay upon it. 39 Jesus said, Take ye away the stone. Martha, the sister of him that was dead, saith unto him, Lord, by this time he stinketh: for he hath been dead four days.

The religious people in John Chapter 11 didn’t believe that Jesus was God. They didn’t believe He could have kept Lazarus from dying.

But He could and He can and He does.

Lazarus was dead for 4 days! After 4 days, the body has already started to decay.

John 11:40-42 Jesus saith unto her, Said I not unto thee, that, if thou wouldest believe, thou shouldest see the glory of God? 41 Then they took away the stone from the place where the dead was laid. And Jesus lifted up his eyes, and said, Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me. 42 And I knew that thou hearest me always: but because of the people which stand by I said it, that they may believe that thou hast sent me.

Jesus prayed to His Father out loud so people could hear Him. Jesus is God, but He is not God the Father. He wasn’t praying to Himself.

Notice that Jesus lifted up His eyes to heaven. He looked up to His Father which art in heaven.

John 11:43 And when he thus had spoken, he cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come forth.

When Jesus speaks, it happens. When we speak, things just don’t happen. When Jesus speaks, you know what’s going to happen. There’s no doubt at all. It will happen.

“LAZARUS, COME FORTH!!!”

And Lazarus came forth. That’s the power in God’s Word. Jesus is the Word of God. His words are power. When He speaks, it happens.

John 11:44 And he that was dead came forth, bound hand and foot with graveclothes: and his face was bound about with a napkin. Jesus saith unto them, Loose him, and let him go.

The man Lazarus was just dead, and now he’s alive because of the words spoken from Jesus Christ. God the Father does what Jesus asks because Jesus always does what His Father asks Him to do.

Jesus says to the people, “Hey, get the graveclothes off of Lazarus and let him go!”

“Loose Lazarus and let him go.” I love that part of John Chapter 11.

And why did Jesus do this miracle? Jesus did miracles so people would be saved. And you can be saved by believing that Jesus Christ can save you.

John 11:45 Then many of the Jews which came to Mary, and had seen the things which Jesus did, believed on him.

The Jews in verse 45 that believed on Jesus were saved at the moment they believed on Jesus.

Acts 16:30-31 And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved? 31 And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.

It’s a very sad thing but most “Christian” churches don’t teach anyone how to make it to heaven. “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved.”

Jesus came to earth the first time to save people! He did miracles so that the Jews would believe on Him and be saved. That was the reason He did this miracle and it worked.

Hopefully, you have believed on the Lord Jesus Christ to save you. If you haven’t, do that right now by stopping and praying to Jesus. Just ask Him to save you, and He says that He will.

John 3:36 He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.

Some people would probably doubt that Lazarus was dead and that Jesus raised him from the dead.

But Lazarus was dead for 4 days. This wasn’t 10 minutes. This was 4 days. He was dead. And they didn’t just get the clothes off of him and Lazarus ran away and was never seen again. Lazarus was seen many times and often.

People believed on Jesus Christ when they saw Lazarus alive even after the miracle was done.

John 12:1-2 Then Jesus six days before the passover came to Bethany, where Lazarus was which had been dead, whom he raised from the dead. 2 There they made him a supper; and Martha served: but Lazarus was one of them that sat at the table with him.

Lazarus sat at the table with Jesus Christ for supper. This was after he was raised from the dead. Lazarus went on living his life.

John 12:9-11 Much people of the Jews therefore knew that he was there: and they came not for Jesus’ sake only, but that they might see Lazarus also, whom he had raised from the dead. 10 But the chief priests consulted that they might put Lazarus also to death; 11 Because that by reason of him many of the Jews went away, and believed on Jesus.

People wanted to see Lazarus. He was dead but is now alive. The religious people didn’t want anyone believing on Jesus because He had raised Lazarus from the dead.

Many religious “Christians” today do not want their followers to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ.

All you have to do to be saved is put your trust on Jesus Christ alone. You don’t need a church to save you. You don’t need a religion to save you. You simply need to ask Jesus to save you, and He says that He will.

Jesus has the power to save you. No church has that power. No religion has that power. No government has that power. No group of people have that power. Jesus Christ of Nazareth, the King of the Jews, has that power.

Trust Jesus to save you. Don’t trust yourself. Don’t trust anyone else but Jesus. 100% trust on Jesus and you’re saved. You have received everlasting life once you put 100% trust on Him. This is called believing “ON” Jesus.
