God Hath Fulfilled the Same Unto Us Their Children

Hi! So today I am going to explain the verse, Acts 13:33. So let’s go ahead and read it.

Acts 13:33 God hath fulfilled the same unto us their children, in that he hath raised up Jesus again; as it is also written in the second psalm, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee.

So the first part of the verse says that God has fulfilled something unto his children. Who are his children?

Normally people say that this is talking about physical Israel. But the Bible says different. Let’s read Galatians 3:26.

Galatians 3:26 For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.

By grace through faith ye are saved just as Ephesians 2:8-9 says. So all who are saved are children of God! All of those who have believed on Jesus Christ are children of God.

Also, Romans 9:6 says something lots and lots of people ignore.

Romans 9:6 Not as though the word of God hath taken none effect. For they are not all Israel, which are of Israel:

So again Paul says they are not all Israel (physical) which are of Israel (spiritual).

Now let’s go back to Acts 13:33.

Acts 13:33 God hath fulfilled the same unto us their children, in that he hath raised up Jesus again; as it is also written in the second psalm, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee.

Now that we explained who God’s children are (all that believe in Him), what did God fulfill unto them? Well, if you keep reading, the Bible says, “in that he hath raised up Jesus again.”

What does this mean? It means that God promised us He would raise Jesus up. God said this in Psalm 53:

Psalm 53:10 Yet it pleased the Lord to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the Lord shall prosper in his hand.

Notice the beginning of the verse says, “Yet it pleased the Lord to bruise him.” This sounds just like when Jesus Christ, the Son of God, was beaten and killed on Calvary.

That’s just one verse where God promises He will send a Savior (Jesus Christ of Nazareth).

Here in Psalm 16:10, the Bible says Jesus died and His soul went to hell.

Psalm 16:10 For thou wilt not leave my soul in hell; neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.

The holy one here is Jesus. Don’t believe me? Okay, here is a verse from Acts.

Acts 2:25-27 For David speaketh concerning him, I foresaw the Lord always before my face, for he is on my right hand, that I should not be moved: 26 Therefore did my heart rejoice, and my tongue was glad; moreover also my flesh shall rest in hope: 27 Because thou wilt not leave my soul in hell, neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.

It says for David spake concerning Him. “Him” is Jesus because who else would be The Holy One? Jesus is “THE HOLY ONE.”

There are tons of verses saying Jesus is the Holy One, but here is just one.

Psalm 78:41 Yea, they turned back and tempted God, and limited the Holy One of Israel.

Now that we figured that out, let’s go to Acts 13 again.

Acts 13:33 God hath fulfilled the same unto us their children, in that he hath raised up Jesus again; as it is also written in the second psalm, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee.

So the next section says, “As it is also written in the second psalm, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee.”

What does this mean? Well, this part is simple. It is just going back to another verse. So let’s read it.

Psalm 2:7 I will declare the decree: the Lord hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee.

Also when it says this day have I begotten thee, it means when God raised Jesus up again he begot him. When Jesus was raised from the dead, He was the begotten Son of God. When we believe on Jesus Christ, we become the children of God. God will also raise us up in the same way at the resurrection or rapture.

I hope this has helped you. Now I hope you understand what Acts 13:33 means. Have a nice day, bye!
