Soul Winning Secrets – Day 16
When They’ve “Already Prayed” – Diagnosing False Assurance with Grace
With Pastor Joshua Tapp | True Words Baptist Church – Louisville, KY
Introduction
I’m Pastor Joshua Tapp from True Words Baptist Church in Louisville, Kentucky — and this is Soul Winning Secrets. From the Scriptures to the streets — we live soul winning. Let’s go fishing for men.
The “I Already Prayed” Barrier
You start giving the Gospel, and someone says:
“Oh, I’ve already done that.”
“I prayed the prayer when I was a kid.”
“I got saved at church camp 20 years ago.”
But the moment you dig a little deeper…
- They don’t believe in eternal security.
- They think you have to live right to stay saved.
- They can’t even explain what salvation is.
What happened? They were taught a prayer, not the Gospel.
What You Say Next Matters
Don’t attack. Don’t mock their past. Ask them:
“What do you believe someone has to do to be saved?”
“If you died today, why would God let you into Heaven?”
“Can you lose your salvation?”
Their answers will reveal the truth — and give you the opportunity to give it.
“Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith…” — 2 Corinthians 13:5
Clarify the Difference
Let them know:
✅ A prayer doesn’t save.
✅ Turning over a new leaf doesn’t save.
✅ Only believing on the Lord Jesus Christ saves — instantly and eternally.
Use:
- Acts 16:31
- Romans 10:9–10
- John 3:36
- John 10:28
Soul Winning Secret
“The Gospel isn’t a memory — it’s a message you must believe now.”
A past event means nothing if there was never true belief in Christ alone.
Final Challenge
Don’t let “I already prayed” stop you from sharing the real Gospel. Ask the right questions. Discern the difference. And preach truth — with grace.
Outro
We’ve seen souls saved week after week — and you can too. Don’t just watch — go fishing. Let’s win the world to Christ, one soul at a time.
