📖 Day 18 – Prophecy & Power
“When God Borrowed Bones: The Shocking Power in Elisha’s Grave”
2 Kings 13:20–21 • 2 Kings 2:9–15 • Hebrews 11:39–40
🎙️ [SERIES INTRO]
Welcome to Deep Dive: KJV Bible Studies. I’m Pastor Joshua Tapp from True Words Baptist Church in Louisville, Kentucky. In this series, we go verse by verse, no fluff, no compromise—just the King James Bible, preached and taught with boldness and truth. Let’s dive in.
🦴 POINT 1: ELISHA DIED—BUT GOD WASN’T DONE YET
2 Kings 13:20
And Elisha died, and they buried him. And the bands of the Moabites invaded the land at the coming in of the year.
God’s work doesn’t die with the worker. Elisha had been God’s mouthpiece, but even after death, God used his remains as a vessel of His power. The world may say a preacher’s voice is silenced in the grave, but the Word of God never returns void. If God chooses, even bones can preach a final message.
Let this remind us: it’s not the man, it’s the God behind the man. God can use what’s buried if it was once consecrated.
⚡ POINT 2: DEAD MAN REVIVED BY DEAD BONES
2 Kings 13:21
And it came to pass, as they were burying a man, that, behold,
they spied a band of men; and they cast the man into the sepulchre of Elisha:
and when the man was let down, and touched the bones of Elisha, he revived, and stood up on his feet.
This miracle was instant. There was no prayer, no ceremony—just contact with what God had touched before.
The lesson? God’s power is not bound to time or tradition. God isn’t limited to your understanding, and He certainly doesn’t need a crowd to work a miracle. The man who revived had no idea what he was about to fall into—yet God had prepared the moment.
We must ask ourselves: Have we so limited God that we forget He can use anything? Do we believe He’s still a God of unexpected revivals?
🔥 POINT 3: DOUBLE PORTION—COMPLETE AFTER DEATH
2 Kings 2:9
And it came to pass, when they were gone over, that Elijah said unto Elisha, Ask what I shall do for thee…
And Elisha said, I pray thee, let a double portion of thy spirit be upon me.
Elijah performed 7 major miracles. Elisha asked for a double portion—and this resurrection, done through his bones, was miracle number 14… plus 1.
The promise wasn’t fully complete until after Elisha died. Think about that.
God’s promises aren’t on your timeline—they’re on His.
That means you may not see your greatest impact while you’re alive. But if you stay faithful, God can multiply your fruit long after you’re gone.
👑 POINT 4: YOUR FAITHFULNESS OUTLIVES YOU
Hebrews 11:39–40
And these all, having obtained a good report through faith, received not the promise:
God having provided some better thing for us, that they without us should not be made perfect.
Some of the greatest men and women of God died before their mission was fulfilled—but that didn’t mean it failed. God uses generations together to fulfill His plan.
Elisha’s bones were silent, but they still worked. Ask yourself—if I died today, would God still use what I left behind?
🗣️ CALL TO ACTION
Be so filled with God that even what’s left of you after death still speaks.
Leave behind sermons in your testimony, faith in your family, and power in your prayers.
God may borrow your bones, but only if you gave Him your life.
