📅 Episode 9 – Sunday: Simple Faith
Question: “What Must I Do to Be Saved?”
🎬 Intro Script:
Welcome to Baptist Bold: Ask a Pastor—where truth isn’t filtered, and the Bible has the final word. I’m Pastor Joshua Tapp from True Words Baptist Church in Louisville, Kentucky. Let’s get into today’s question…
📖 Answer:
It’s the most important question a person can ask:
“What must I do to be saved?”
Religions complicate it. Churches twist it. But the Bible gives a simple, clear, eternal answer.
Let’s break it down—straight from Scripture.
1. You Must Realize You’re a Sinner
📖 Romans 3:23 — “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.”
Salvation starts with honesty. You’ve sinned. I’ve sinned. We’re guilty before a holy God.
2. You Must Understand the Penalty for Sin
📖 Romans 6:23 — “For the wages of sin is death…”
Not just physical death. Hell. The lake of fire. Eternal punishment.
📖 Revelation 20:14–15 — “…This is the second death.”
Sin has a price—and God is just.
3. You Must Know What Jesus Did for You
📖 Romans 5:8 — “But God commendeth his love toward us… Christ died for us.”
📖 1 Peter 2:24 — “Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree…”
Jesus Christ, the Son of God and God in the flesh, took the punishment for your sin. He died, was buried, and rose again.
That’s love. That’s payment. That’s the Gospel.
4. You Must Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ
📖 Acts 16:30–31 — “Sirs, what must I do to be saved? … Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved…”
📖 John 6:47 — “He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.”
Not turn from sin. Not join a church. Not clean up your life.
Believe. Trust that what He did is enough.
5. You Must Understand That Salvation Is Eternal
📖 John 10:28 — “And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish…”
Once you’re saved, you’re always saved. No works. No maintenance. No risk of losing it.
🎯 Bottom Line:
Salvation isn’t about being better—it’s about believing.
👉 You’re a sinner
👉 You deserve hell
👉 Jesus paid the price
👉 You believe—and He saves
📖 Ephesians 2:8–9 — “For by grace are ye saved through faith… not of works…”
That’s it. That’s salvation. It’s not a process. It’s a moment of belief—and it lasts forever.
