Genesis 15:1–6, Galatians 3:6–9
🎙️ [SERIES INTRO]
Welcome to Deep Dive: KJV Bible Studies. I’m Pastor Joshua Tapp from True Words Baptist Church in Louisville, Kentucky. In this series, we go verse by verse, no fluff, no compromise—just the King James Bible, preached and taught with boldness and truth. This is The Gospel Code—where we uncover how the Gospel of Jesus Christ is woven throughout the entire Bible. Let’s dive in.
🧱 [OPENING THOUGHT]
Most people think the Gospel started in the New Testament—like Jesus came along and God finally decided to start saving people. But the truth is, God has never changed the plan.
From Genesis to Revelation, it’s always been the same Gospel, the same promise, and the same requirement: faith.
Let’s go back to the first time the Bible says someone got saved—Genesis 15—and let’s find out how.
📜 [READ GENESIS 15:1–6]
Genesis 15:1–6
After these things the word of the Lord came unto Abram in a vision, saying, Fear not, Abram: I am thy shield, and thy exceeding great reward.
And Abram said, Lord God, what wilt thou give me, seeing I go childless, and the steward of my house is this Eliezer of Damascus?
And Abram said, Behold, to me thou hast given no seed: and, lo, one born in my house is mine heir.
And, behold, the word of the Lord came unto him, saying, This shall not be thine heir; but he that shall come forth out of thine own bowels shall be thine heir.
And he brought him forth abroad, and said, Look now toward heaven, and tell the stars, if thou be able to number them: and he said unto him, So shall thy seed be.
And he believed in the Lord; and he counted it to him for righteousness.
🧠 [POINT 1: ABRAHAM BELIEVED GOD — AND THAT WAS ENOUGH]
Genesis 15:6 And he believed in the Lord; and he counted it to him for righteousness.
That’s it. No altar call. No “turn from your sins.” No law. No works.
He simply believed—and God counted it to him for righteousness.
Let me ask you:
If belief was enough for Abraham—why do people today try to add to it?
🔁 [CROSS REFERENCE: ROMANS 4:1–8]
Romans 4:3 For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness.
Romans 4:4–5 Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt.
But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.
Romans 4:6–8 Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works,
Saying, Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered.
Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin.
💬 [REAL-LIFE APPLICATION: MODERN FALSE GOSPELS]
Today, people are out here preaching a different message:
- “You have to turn from your sins.”
- “Make Jesus Lord of your life.”
- “Clean up your act before you come to Christ.”
But Abraham didn’t do any of that. He believed—and that was enough.
I’ve knocked on doors and had people say, “Well, I used to be a Christian until I messed up.”
Or, “I’m working on getting my life right first.”
But if it’s about works—no one will be saved.
📚 [POINT 2: THE GOSPEL WAS PREACHED BEFORE — GALATIANS 3:6–9]
Galatians 3:6–9
Even as Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.
Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham.
And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed.
So then they which be of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham.
There it is: “preached before the gospel unto Abraham”
The Gospel isn’t new—it’s eternal. And Abraham believed it.
🔍 [CROSS REFERENCE: JOHN 8:56]
John 8:56 Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw it, and was glad.
That’s Jesus speaking! Abraham understood that the promise meant a coming Savior.
✝️ [POINT 3: THE GOSPEL MESSAGE, THEN AND NOW]
Whether you’re looking forward to the cross or back to it, the requirement is the same: faith in God’s promise.
God promised Abraham that the Seed would come—Christ—and Abraham believed.
Galatians 3:16 Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ.
📖 [CLEAR GOSPEL PRESENTATION – THE 7 KEY VERSES]
Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.
Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Romans 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
1 Peter 2:24 Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.
Acts 16:30–31 And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved?
And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.John 6:47 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.
John 10:28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.
🙌 [FINAL ILLUSTRATION: COURTROOM GRACE]
Picture this:
You’re in a courtroom. You’re guilty.
But before the gavel falls, someone steps forward and says:
“I’ll take their punishment. Let them go free.”
You don’t earn that.
You just believe it.
You receive it.
That’s what Abraham did. That’s what God still honors—faith in the promise.
🔚 [CALL TO ACTION]
If you’ve never believed the Gospel—today is the day.
Stop trusting in yourself. Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and be saved.
And if you are saved—preach this Gospel. Defend it.
Don’t let anyone add to it or subtract from it. The Gospel is simple. And it’s eternal.
