The Doctrine of the Trinity

the doctrine of the trinity

One God. Three Persons. Perfect Unity. The doctrine of the Trinity.

We believe in one God eternally existing in three co-equal, co-eternal Persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost. This mystery is not a contradiction — it is the divine revelation of God’s nature. The Doctrine of the Trinity is not three gods, but one God who reveals Himself in three distinct Persons, all sharing the same essence, power, and glory. This page stands alongside our full Statement of Faith.

1 John 5:7
For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.

1. The Unity of God

God is one in being, substance, and purpose. He has always existed and always will — uncreated, self-sufficient, and eternal. The doctrine of the Trinity is a foundational truth of the KJV Bible.

Deuteronomy 6:4
Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord.

There are not three gods but one. The Father is God. The Son is God. The Holy Ghost is God. Yet, they are not three Lords, but one Lord.

Isaiah 45:5
I am the Lord, and there is none else, there is no God beside me.

The oneness of God does not erase His threefold revelation; rather, it defines the perfect unity within His nature — the heart of the Doctrine of the Trinity.

2. God the Father

God the Father is the first person of the Trinity — the source of all things, the giver of life, the righteous Judge, and the one who sent His Son to redeem mankind.

John 6:44
No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.

1 Corinthians 8:6
But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him.

The Father planned salvation, the Son accomplished it, and the Holy Ghost applies it.

3. God the Son — Jesus Christ

Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God — God manifest in the flesh. He is not a creation, not a lesser deity, but the fullness of the Godhead bodily. The doctrine of the trinity is the truth taught in the Bible.

John 1:1–3
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 The same was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

Colossians 2:9
For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.

He was born of a virgin, lived sinlessly, died as the substitute for sinners, rose bodily from the grave, and ascended to the right hand of the Father — proving His eternal deity and power.

4. God the Holy Ghost

The Holy Ghost is not an impersonal force — He is God, equal with the Father and the Son. He convicts the world of sin, indwells every believer at salvation, comforts the saints, and empowers them for service.

Acts 5:3-4
But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back part of the price of the land? 4 Whiles it remained, was it not thine own? and after it was sold, was it not in thine own power? why hast thou conceived this thing in thine heart? thou hast not lied unto men, but unto God.

John 14:26
But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

The Holy Ghost speaks, leads, fills, and seals — performing divine works that can only be done by God Himself.

5. The Triune Work of God

All three Persons of the Trinity work together in harmony in every divine act:

  • In creation — The Father spoke, the Son created, and the Spirit moved.
  • In salvation — The Father sent, the Son sacrificed, and the Spirit sealed.
  • In sanctification — The Father commands, the Son intercedes, and the Spirit transforms.

Matthew 28:19
Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.

The entire work of redemption flows from the unity and cooperation of the Trinity — one God acting through three divine persons.

Application and Affirmation

The Trinity reveals the perfection of God’s nature — relational, righteous, and redemptive. It shows us that love has always existed, truth has always been eternal, and salvation has always been God’s plan.

2 Corinthians 13:14
The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all. Amen.

Affirmation – The Doctrine of the Trinity:

  • We believe in one God revealed in three Persons — Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.
  • Each Person of the Trinity is fully God, co-equal and co-eternal.
  • The Trinity is essential to understanding creation, redemption, and revelation.
  • Any denial of the Trinity is a denial of the God of the Bible.
