📖 Day 11 – Doctrinal Depths
“Standing vs. State: Understanding the Two Realities of the Believer”
Ephesians 2:4–6 • Colossians 3:1–3 • Romans 7:15–25
🎙️ [SERIES INTRO]
Welcome to Deep Dive: KJV Bible Studies. I’m Pastor Joshua Tapp from True Words Baptist Church in Louisville, Kentucky. In this series, we go verse by verse, no fluff, no compromise—just the King James Bible, preached and taught with boldness and truth. Let’s dive in.
📜 [SCRIPTURE: EPHESIANS 2:4–6]
Ephesians 2:4–6
But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,
Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)
And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:
✝️ POINT 1: YOUR STANDING IS FIXED IN HEAVEN
If you’re saved, your standing is perfect, eternal, and unchangeable.
You are seated with Christ. You’re accepted, sealed, forgiven, clean.
Colossians 3:3
For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.
🔁 POINT 2: YOUR STATE IS YOUR DAILY WALK
Your state is how you live. It changes day to day.
You may fall into sin or walk in victory—but your standing doesn’t change.
Romans 7:18–19
For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing…
For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do.
Even Paul struggled. So will we.
⚖️ POINT 3: DON’T MIX THE TWO—OR YOU’LL LIVE IN FEAR
Romans 8:1
There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus…
Some believers feel lost when they sin.
That’s because they confuse their state (what they do) with their standing (who they are).
You don’t lose sonship because of bad behavior—you lose fellowship and joy.
🔥 POINT 4: GOD STILL CHASTENS, BUT NEVER CONDEMNS
Hebrews 12:6
For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.
He corrects you as a Father, not as a Judge.

🗣️ CALL TO ACTION
If you’ve believed, your standing is secure.
Now let your state start reflecting your standing—but don’t confuse the two.
