[2] The title of the sermon today is “TRUST IN THE LORD.”

Let’s Do A Study About Trusting In The Lord

• Today, I want to do a study on trusting in the Lord.
• I want you to see what putting your trust in the Lord can do for you.
• God doesn’t make you trust in Him for salvation or for everyday life.

I constantly preach about putting 100% of your trust in the Lord Jesus Christ to save you.

• When you do that, Jesus Christ will save you at that moment.
• He’ll give you everlasting life that will never be taken away. He says so in the Scriptures.

[3] Mark 14:48-49 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Are ye come out, as against a thief, with swords and with staves to take me? 49 I was daily with you in the temple teaching, and ye took me not: but the scriptures must be fulfilled.

• Every word of God in the King James Bible MUST be fulfilled. Every word.
• Jesus is the Word of God and every WORD must be fulfilled.

[4] 1 John 5:10-11 He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son. 11 And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.

[5] 1 John 5:12-13 He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. 13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.

• Believing “ON” Jesus Christ is putting 100% of your trust in Him to save you.
• This means YOU KNOW that He’ll do what He says He’ll do.
• For example, I know that Jesus has saved me from death and hell because I’ve trusted in Him.
• I have believed on the Lord Jesus Christ.

[6] John 6:47 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.

• Because I have believed on Jesus, I have everlasting life. My body will die but my soul will live on.
• So, no matter what happens in this world, I’m alive. And no one can do anything about that.
• The world who hates me today might kill my body, but I’ll be looking down from heaven when God pours out His wrath on this earth.
• The world that thought they killed me will look up and see me there. I will never die.

[7] John 11:26 And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?

• I’m alive right now and I believe in Jesus. I shall never die. And yes, I believe that. Do you?
• Today, I want to show you what trust in the Lord means by searching the Scriptures.
• I’ve searched the Scriptures for the following words:
• Trust, trusted, trustedst, trustest, trusteth, and trusting.
• When I search the Scriptures, I find 190 matches in 187 different verses.
• This is what the word chart looks like for TRUST within the King James Bible.

• That’s probably very difficult to see for you so I’ll summarize the chart.
• The Book of Psalms has 70 verses out of the 187 in the entire Bible. That’s 37% of the Bible.
• Isaiah has 21 verses or 11% of the trust verses within the Bible.
• Jeremiah has 16, Proverbs has 9, 2 Kings has 8, and Job has 8.

The First Verse In The Bible With The Word Trust

Let’s start with the very first verse in the Bible with the word trust. We look to Deuteronomy Chapter 28.

• If you’re one of those people who believes God loves everyone all the time no matter what, you’re going to want to ignore Deuteronomy Chapter 28.
• You won’t hear this chapter being preached in churches. You’ll never hear it. It’s rough.
• But we see the true nature of God within the entire Bible. That’s how we know we have the right God.

[9] Deuteronomy 28:47-48 Because thou servedst not the LORD thy God with joyfulness, and with gladness of heart, for the abundance of all things; 48 Therefore shalt thou serve thine enemies which the LORD shall send against thee, in hunger, and in thirst, and in nakedness, and in want of all things: and he shall put a yoke of iron upon thy neck, until he have destroyed thee.

[10] Deuteronomy 28:49-50 The LORD shall bring a nation against thee from far, from the end of the earth, as swift as the eagle flieth; a nation whose tongue thou shalt not understand; 50 A nation of fierce countenance, which shall not regard the person of the old, nor shew favour to the young:

[11] Deuteronomy 28:51 And he shall eat the fruit of thy cattle, and the fruit of thy land, until thou be destroyed: which also shall not leave thee either corn, wine, or oil, or the increase of thy kine, or flocks of thy sheep, until he have destroyed thee.

• Now, the next verse in Deuteronomy Chapter 28 is where the word trustedst comes in. Watch this.

[12] Deuteronomy 28:52 And he shall besiege thee in all thy gates, until thy high and fenced walls come down, wherein thou trustedst, throughout all thy land: and he shall besiege thee in all thy gates throughout all thy land, which the LORD thy God hath given thee.

• So, the Bible starts out with the word trust by showing us a people who didn’t serve the Lord their God.
• They didn’t serve Him with joy and gladness of the heart. He says, “You’ll serve your enemies then.”
• “You don’t want to serve me? Then you’ll serve your enemies.”
• God says, “You’ll trust in gates and walls around your cities but you won’t trust me.”
• THEREFORE, all of this evil will be done to you. In other words, if you don’t trust in God He won’t help you.

Many people put their trust in everything else but God.

• “I’ll trust my bank account. I’ll trust my husband. I’ll trust my wife. I’ll trust my family.”
• “I’ll put my trust in my doctor. My doctor will save me. I’ll put my trust in myself. I sure trust my church.”
• “My church will take care of me. I trust the Apostolic way. I trust the Baptist way.”
• “I trust the Church of Christ way. I trust the Catholic way. I trust the Seventh Day Adventist way.”
• “The Jehovah’s Witness way. The Mormon way. The Muslim way. The Buddhist way.”

All of these people headed for hell TRUST in anything else BUT God Almighty.

• And what’s sad is saved people headed for heaven don’t even put their trust in God Almighty.
• He’ll come down harder in this life on the saved people who won’t trust in Him.
• Watch what the very next verse says in Deuteronomy Chapter 28, and you tell me if God wants you to trust Him.

[13] Deuteronomy 28:53 And thou shalt eat the fruit of thine own body, the flesh of thy sons and of thy daughters, which the LORD thy God hath given thee, in the siege, and in the straitness, wherewith thine enemies shall distress thee:

• When you don’t trust in God, God will not help you. If you trust Him, He will help you.
• When you don’t have God in your life, you will become corrupted.
• “Thou shalt eat of the fruit of thine own body, the flesh of they sons and of thy daughters.”
• That’s sick, but that’s what this country and this world is already towards. It’s nasty and wicked.
• And it’s not going to get any better. So you better trust in God with everything you have.

When you put your trust in something other than God, this means you worship that thing.

• You’ve put that thing above God in your life and you trust that thing more than God.
• “Well my job will always take care of me. My job is number one in my life.”
• Guess what? When death comes knocking, that job of yours won’t do anything for you.
• Is a job going to save you from death and hell? That job doesn’t even breathe.
• The sports that you love so much don’t even breathe. They’re nothing.
• The house, the cars, and the money won’t help you. Your family won’t save you.
• Your church won’t save you. Watch what the very next verse in the Bible says about trust.

[14] Deuteronomy 32:35-36 To me belongeth vengeance, and recompence; their foot shall slide in due time: for the day of their calamity is at hand, and the things that shall come upon them make haste. 36 For the LORD shall judge his people, and repent himself for his servants, when he seeth that their power is gone, and there is none shut up, or left.

• This is the song of Moses in Deuteronomy Chapter 32. We should be singing this song.
• But there’s not a church around who wants to sing this song. But we do. I love this song.

[15] Deuteronomy 32:37 And he shall say, Where are their gods, their rock in whom they trusted,

• Do you trust in other things other than God? “And HE shall say, where are their gods?”
• “Where’s their rock in whom they TRUSTED?”
• God’s saying this. “Hey, where are your gods now that you need help?”
• “You trusted in them before. Where are they now?” Next verse.

[16] Deuteronomy 32:38 Which did eat the fat of their sacrifices, and drank the wine of their drink offerings? let them rise up and help you, and be your protection.

• God says, “Let your gods rise up and help you. Let them be your protection.”
• Hey, look, nothing can protect you from the vengeance and wrath of God. There’s nothing.
• There are no other gods but ONE. Jesus Christ did rise up to help you. Why don’t you trust Him?
• I love this next part of the song. It’s amazing. I hope you see how amazing God is today.

[17] Deuteronomy 32:39-40 See now that I, even I, am he, and there is no god with me: I kill, and I make alive; I wound, and I heal: neither is there any that can deliver out of my hand. 40 For I lift up my hand to heaven, and say, I live for ever.

• God says, “There is no god with me. I’m the only one buddy. There is no other.”
• “I kill and I make alive. I wound and I heal. There’s nobody else that can deliver you out of my hand.”
• Hey, your great pastor isn’t going to be able to deliver you from God’s hand. He or she is nothing.
• They can run their mouth about how great they are all they want, and it means nothing.
• “You all can purchase my great book here and there and read all about my greatness.”
• “You all can trust what I’m telling you. You don’t need to read God’s word. Just trust me.”

God Is The Only One Who Can help You

God is the ONE who lifts up HIS hand to heaven as you see there in verse 40.

• He is THE ONE who says, “I LIVE FOREVER.” The only one who is eternal is God Almighty.
• There’s only one. There wasn’t any other god there from everlasting to everlasting.
• You weren’t there in the beginning. Your great church denomination wasn’t there in the beginning.
• The Catholic false church sure wasn’t there. The little pope sure wasn’t there.
• Ellen G. White of the Seventh Day Adventists wasn’t there. Joseph Smith wasn’t there.
• All of the disciples weren’t there. Moses wasn’t there. Abraham wasn’t there.
• Samuel, Saul, David, Solomon? They weren’t there either. Enoch and Elijah weren’t there.

Do you know who was there ALONE from eternity? From as far back as you can imagine?

• GOD WAS THERE. GOD IS HERE. AND GOD WILL ALWAYS BE THERE.
• There is no one else you should trust but God who is the everlasting God.

[18] Psalm 90:2 Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever thou hadst formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, thou art God.

• You can choose not to trust God, and I’ll tell you right now, it will not end up good for you.
• You’re here right now. How do you think you got here? It didn’t just happen by chance.
• Who knows if they’re right (probably not) but scientists give the odds of you being born at one in 400 trillion.

The odds of winning the lottery are about 1 in 300 million. Being born? 1 in 400 trillion.

• According to that, you’re more than 1 million times likely to win the lottery versus being born.
• That means being born is like you’ve already won the lottery 1 million times. Do you understand that?
• You should thank God right now for giving you life on earth. I thank God for life right now.
• I know how much of a blessing life is because of my wife and my children. I thank God for them.
• And guess what’s even more amazing? The odds of you being saved from death and hell are even greater.
• The Bible tells us that most people go to hell because they won’t trust the words of Jesus Christ.
• That means you’re beating the odds big time right now IF you’ve trusted in Jesus fully to save you.

[19] Ruth 1:16-17 And Ruth said, Intreat me not to leave thee, or to return from following after thee: for whither thou goest, I will go; and where thou lodgest, I will lodge: thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God: 17 Where thou diest, will I die, and there will I be buried: the LORD do so to me, and more also, if ought but death part thee and me.

• Notice where Ruth says, “For whither thou goest, I will go: and where thou lodgest, I will lodge.”
• “Thy people shall be my people, and thy God, MY GOD.” Ruth is trusting in God right there.
• Ruth was a Moabite. Now watch what Boaz says to her in Ruth Chapter 2.

[20] Ruth 2:11 And Boaz answered and said unto her, It hath fully been shewed me, all that thou hast done unto thy mother in law since the death of thine husband: and how thou hast left thy father and thy mother, and the land of thy nativity, and art come unto a people which thou knewest not heretofore.

[21] Ruth 2:12 The LORD recompense thy work, and a full reward be given thee of the LORD God of Israel, under whose wings thou art come to trust.

• Ruth trusted in the Lord. The parents of Boaz were Salmon and Rahab the harlot.
• Boaz begat Jesse and Jesse begat David. King David’s grandmother was Ruth who trusted in the Lord.
• Do you think Boaz and Ruth helped teach King David how to trust in the Lord? Oh yes they did.
• Do you remember how the Psalms have the most verses about trusting in the Lord?
• That’s pretty good proof that Boaz and Ruth taught King David how to trust the Lord.

[22] 2 Samuel 22:1-2 And David spake unto the LORD the words of this song in the day that the LORD had delivered him out of the hand of all his enemies, and out of the hand of Saul: 2 And he said, The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer;

[23] 2 Samuel 22:3-4 The God of my rock; in him will I trust: he is my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower, and my refuge, my saviour; thou savest me from violence. 4 I will call on the LORD, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from mine enemies.

• God delivered David from all his enemies. David says, “The God of my rock; in HIM will I trust.”
• The God of my rock. Jesus is the rock. And David mentions the God of Jesus. That’s His Father.
• Call upon the Lord and you will be saved. Trust in Him and you will be saved.

[24] 2 Samuel 22:31-33 As for God, his way is perfect; the word of the LORD is tried: he is a buckler to all them that trust in him. 32 For who is God, save the LORD? and who is a rock, save our God? 33 God is my strength and power: and he maketh my way perfect.

• He is a buckler to all that trust in Him. Buckler is a shield or defensive armor.
• If you want protection, you better trust in God. HE IS A BUCKLER TO ALL THEM THAT TRUST IN HIM.
• There was another King in the line of King David that trusted in the Lord.

[25] 2 Kings 18:1-2 Now it came to pass in the third year of Hoshea son of Elah king of Israel, that Hezekiah the son of Ahaz king of Judah began to reign. 2 Twenty and five years old was he when he began to reign; and he reigned twenty and nine years in Jerusalem. His mother’s name also was Abi, the daughter of Zachariah.

[26] 2 Kings 18:3-4 And he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD, according to all that David his father did. 4 He removed the high places, and brake the images, and cut down the groves, and brake in pieces the brasen serpent that Moses had made: for unto those days the children of Israel did burn incense to it: and he called it Nehushtan.

[27] 2 Kings 18:5-6 He trusted in the LORD God of Israel; so that after him was none like him among all the kings of Judah, nor any that were before him. 6 For he clave to the LORD, and departed not from following him, but kept his commandments, which the LORD commanded Moses.

• Do you see that right at the beginning? “HE TRUSTED IN THE LORD GOD OF ISRAEL.”
• When King Hezekiah did that, what happened?
• “So that after him was none like him among all the kings of Judah. Nor any that were before him.”
• Notice that it wasn’t King Hezekiah’s great intelligence. “Oh, he was just smarter than the others.”
• “It was because he had more money than the others. It was because his family helped him.”
• No, it’s none of that. It’s all because HE TRUSTED IN THE LORD.

Cleave Or Stick To The Lord And Put Your Trust In Him

He cleaved or stuck to the Lord and didn’t depart from following God. He kept His commandments.

• That means he loved and trusted God with all that he had. Then, God helped that man.
• Do you see the order there? TRUST IN GOD FIRST. THEN GET GOD’S HELP.
• Do you want to see what God did for King Hezekiah because he trusted God? Let’s see.
• And remember, we’re learning all of this today by simply studying about TRUST within the Bible.

[28] 2 Kings 18:17 And the king of Assyria sent Tartan and Rabsaris and Rab-shakeh from Lachish to king Hezekiah with a great host against Jerusalem. And they went up and came to Jerusalem. And when they were come up, they came and stood by the conduit of the upper pool, which is in the highway of the fuller’s field.

• The King of Assyria sends up this great multitude of people to King Hezekiah.
• We’re in the same chapter where we learned that Hezekiah trusted in the Lord and did what He asked.
• This Assyrians weren’t coming up to Hezekiah and Jerusalem to be nice. They were there to take over.

[29] 2 Kings 18:18-19 And when they had called to the king, there came out to them Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, which was over the household, and Shebna the scribe, and Joah the son of Asaph the recorder. 19 And Rab-shakeh said unto them, Speak ye now to Hezekiah, Thus saith the great king, the king of Assyria, What confidence is this wherein thou trustest?

• The King of Assyria wants to conquer Hezekiah and the kingdom of Judah.
• The King of Assyria says, “Who are you trusting in, Hezekiah?”
• And he Rab-shakeh, who represented the King of Assyria, just keeps on mouthing off.

[30] 2 Kings 18:28-29 Then Rab-shakeh stood and cried with a loud voice in the Jews’ language, and spake, saying, Hear the word of the great king, the king of Assyria: 29 Thus saith the king, Let not Hezekiah deceive you: for he shall not be able to deliver you out of his hand:

[31] 2 Kings 18:30 Neither let Hezekiah make you trust in the LORD, saying, The LORD will surely deliver us, and this city shall not be delivered into the hand of the king of Assyria.

• He’s trying to convince all of Judah to not trust in the Lord. “Don’t listen to Hezekiah.”
• They knew Hezekiah was a man of God who trusted in God.
• Remember, you have this great multitude of Assyrians who want to take over.

[32] 2 Kings 18:32 Until I come and take you away to a land like your own land, a land of corn and wine, a land of bread and vineyards, a land of oil olive and of honey, that ye may live, and not die: and hearken not unto Hezekiah, when he persuadeth you, saying, The LORD will deliver us.

• Now he’s beginning to mock God and the trust that Hezekiah has in the Lord.

[33] 2 Kings 18:33-34 Hath any of the gods of the nations delivered at all his land out of the hand of the king of Assyria? 34 Where are the gods of Hamath, and of Arpad? where are the gods of Sepharvaim, Hena, and Ivah? have they delivered Samaria out of mine hand?

[34] 2 Kings 18:35 Who are they among all the gods of the countries, that have delivered their country out of mine hand, that the LORD should deliver Jerusalem out of mine hand?

• He’s saying none of these other gods have saved them from us. You really think your God will?
• Hezekiah sends his servants, Eliakim and Shebna, to see the prophet Isaiah.
• You don’t mess with God, and you especially don’t mess with his prophets like Isaiah.

[35] 2 Kings 19:6-7 And Isaiah said unto them, Thus shall ye say to your master, Thus saith the LORD, Be not afraid of the words which thou hast heard, with which the servants of the king of Assyria have blasphemed me. 7 Behold, I will send a blast upon him, and he shall hear a rumour, and shall return to his own land; and I will cause him to fall by the sword in his own land.

• Rab-shekah returns and finds the King of Assyria fighting against someone else.
• But the King of Assyria keeps on mouthing to Hezekiah.

[36] 2 Kings 19:10-11 Thus shall ye speak to Hezekiah king of Judah, saying, Let not thy God in whom thou trustest deceive thee, saying, Jerusalem shall not be delivered into the hand of the king of Assyria. 11 Behold, thou hast heard what the kings of Assyria have done to all lands, by destroying them utterly: and shalt thou be delivered?

• Hezekiah continues praying and placing his trust in the Lord.
• Let’s see what happens. You can also read more about this story in Isaiah Chapter 36.

[37] 2 Kings 19:32-34 Therefore thus saith the LORD concerning the king of Assyria, He shall not come into this city, nor shoot an arrow there, nor come before it with shield, nor cast a bank against it. 33 By the way that he came, by the same shall he return, and shall not come into this city, saith the LORD. 34 For I will defend this city, to save it, for mine own sake, and for my servant David’s sake.

• God says, “The King of Assyria isn’t going to do anything.”

[38] 2 Kings 19:35-36 And it came to pass that night, that the angel of the LORD went out, and smote in the camp of the Assyrians an hundred fourscore and five thousand: and when they arose early in the morning, behold, they were all dead corpses. 36 So Sennacherib king of Assyria departed, and went and returned, and dwelt at Nineveh.

[39] 2 Kings 19:37 And it came to pass, as he was worshipping in the house of Nisroch his god, that Adrammelech and Sharezer his sons smote him with the sword: and they escaped into the land of Armenia. And Esarhaddon his son reigned in his stead.

• Do you see what God did for King Hezekiah all because he simply trusted God? That’s all he did.
• He trusted, prayed to the Lord, asked for help, and trusted God would answer his prayers.

[40] 1 Chronicles 5:20 And they were helped against them, and the Hagarites were delivered into their hand, and all that were with them: for they cried to God in the battle, and he was intreated of them; because they put their trust in him.

• It doesn’t take work to put your trust in the Lord. Why wouldn’t you trust Him? Look what He’s done.
• If you’ve noticed, I’ve been stepping through Scripture that uses the word TRUST.

[41] Job 13:13-16 Hold your peace, let me alone, that I may speak, and let come on me what will. 14 Wherefore do I take my flesh in my teeth, and put my life in mine hand? 15 Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him: but I will maintain mine own ways before him. 16 He also shall be my salvation: for an hypocrite shall not come before him.

• Job says he will trust in God even if God decides to slay him. Hey, that’s trust right there.
• You need to trust that whatever God is doing in your life is HIS WILL.
• Let thy will be done. Let thy kingdom come. If God needs to slay me, I trust in Him. God knows best.

[42] Job 39:9-11 Will the unicorn be willing to serve thee, or abide by thy crib? 10 Canst thou bind the unicorn with his band in the furrow? or will he harrow the valleys after thee? 11 Wilt thou trust him, because his strength is great? or wilt thou leave thy labour to him?

• That’s God speaking to Job when He shows up in a whirlwind.
• Are you going to trust in something else because it’s strength is great? No, you better not.
• God spends 4 chapters telling Job about HIS GREATNESS AND HIS POWER AND HIS STRENGTH.
• There’s nothing else stronger than the Lord God Almighty. There’s no one else even close to God.
• Now, I’m moving to the Book of Psalms. Let’s see what we learn from Psalms.

[43] Psalm 2:12 Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in him.

• If the Son of God’s wrath comes upon you just a little, you will perish from the way.
• But, TRUST IN THE LORD, and you will be blessed. Don’t trust God and watch out.

[44] Psalm 4:5 Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, and put your trust in the LORD.

• That’s a commandment. Put your trust in the Lord. When you don’t, that’s sin.

[45] Psalm 5:10-11 Destroy thou them, O God; let them fall by their own counsels; cast them out in the multitude of their transgressions; for they have rebelled against thee. 11 But let all those that put their trust in thee rejoice: let them ever shout for joy, because thou defendest them: let them also that love thy name be joyful in thee.

• Rebelling against God won’t end up good. God will destroy those who go up against Him.
• But not the ones who trust in Him. They will rejoice and should for joy. God will defend those people.

God Will Destroy Those Who Don’t Trust In Him And Save Those Who Do

[46] Psalm 7:1-2 O LORD my God, in thee do I put my trust: save me from all them that persecute me, and deliver me: 2 Lest he tear my soul like a lion, rending it in pieces, while there is none to deliver.

• David is putting his trust in God because he knows God is the only that can save him.
• You need to understand the same. Don’t put your trust in anything else but God alone.

[47] Psalm 9:9-10 The LORD also will be a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble. 10 And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee: for thou, LORD, hast not forsaken them that seek thee.

• When you have trouble, trust in the Lord. He will not leave you IF you seek Him.
• He will not forsake you IF you seek Him. Hod wo you seek Him? You seek Him through His words.
• If you want to seek after God, you read and study His words.
• If that’s too boring for you, maybe God can give you some trouble that won’t be so boring for you.
• He can keep you busy when He takes His protection away from you.

[48] Psalm 11:1-3 To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David. In the LORD put I my trust: how say ye to my soul, Flee as a bird to your mountain? 2 For, lo, the wicked bend their bow, they make ready their arrow upon the string, that they may privily shoot at the upright in heart. 3 If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do?

• The righteous are the ones who trust in the Lord. That’s what the Bible teaches us.
• The righteous are NOT the ones who think they are good people by doing good works.
• If the foundations of your life are destroyed, what can the righteous do? I’ll tell you what.
• The Bible answers that question. What are you going to do if everything is destroyed like Job?

[49] Psalm 11:4 The LORD is in his holy temple, the LORD’S throne is in heaven: his eyes behold, his eyelids try, the children of men.

• You aren’t going to do anything but trust in the Lord. There’s nothing else you can do.
• You can’t fix everything. You can’t do it. But God can. GOD IS IN HIS HOLY TEMPLE.
• HIS THRONE IS IN HEAVEN!!! He’s there watching. He’s there working for those who trust in Him.
• TRUSTING IN GOD is what makes you righteous in His eyes.
• Maybe not in the eyes of men but it does in God’s eyes.

[50] Psalm 13:5-6 But I have trusted in thy mercy; my heart shall rejoice in thy salvation. 6 I will sing unto the LORD, because he hath dealt bountifully with me.

[51] Psalm 16:1 Preserve me, O God: for in thee do I put my trust.

• Trust in God and HE will preserve you forever.

[52] Psalm 18:30 As for God, his way is perfect: the word of the LORD is tried: he is a buckler to all those that trust in him.

[53] Psalm 20:7-9 Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the LORD our God. 8 They are brought down and fallen: but we are risen, and stand upright. 9 Save, LORD: let the king hear us when we call.

• Some people trust in many other things, but we will remember the name of the Lord our God.
• Remember that in your life. Never forget about God. When good times are here, trust God.
• When bad times are here, trust God. Save, Lord. Let “THE KING” hear us when we call.
• I’m not going to put all the verses from the Psalms here as we wouldn’t have enough time.
• But, I will include some here.

[54] Psalm 44:6-8 For I will not trust in my bow, neither shall my sword save me. 7 But thou hast saved us from our enemies, and hast put them to shame that hated us. 8 In God we boast all the day long, and praise thy name for ever. Selah.

• God constantly saves His people who trust in Him.

[55] Psalm 49:6-8 They that trust in their wealth, and boast themselves in the multitude of their riches; 7 None of them can by any means redeem his brother, nor give to God a ransom for him: 8 (For the redemption of their soul is precious, and it ceaseth for ever:)

• This is talking about salvation. People trust in their riches, but none can save themselves or anyone else.

[56] Psalm 49:9-10 That he should still live for ever, and not see corruption. 10 For he seeth that wise men die, likewise the fool and the brutish person perish, and leave their wealth to others.

• God has never seen corruption. The body of Jesus when buried did not see corruption.
• Wise men die. The fool perishes. Their wealth simply goes to someone else. It doesn’t help them at all.

[57] Psalm 49:11 Their inward thought is, that their houses shall continue for ever, and their dwelling places to all generations; they call their lands after their own names.

• They think their riches and their homes are going to continue forever but they just rot away.
• They call cities after their names. “Shelbyville.” They call streets after their names. “Martin Luther King Jr Boulevard.”

“Our name will be carried on.” Listen, your last name isn’t important. It doesn’t need to be carried on.

• It’s just a name. What was Noah’s last name? What was Moses and Aaron’s last name?
• What about King David? What was his last name? Surely we know Joseph’s and Mary’s last name?
• Think about that. God doesn’t even mention most of the last names or surnames.
• Do you know whose last name is mentioned? Judas Iscariot.
• Last names are only mentioned in the Bible so we can tell people apart.
• We don’t want to mix up Judas or Jude from the Bible with Judas Iscariot. That’s it.
• Read Psalm Chapter 49 again. “They call their lands after their own names.” This isn’t a good thing.

[58] Psalm 49:12-13 Nevertheless man being in honour abideth not: he is like the beasts that perish. 13 This their way is their folly: yet their posterity approve their sayings. Selah.

[59] Psalm 49:15-17 But God will redeem my soul from the power of the grave: for he shall receive me. Selah. 16 Be not thou afraid when one is made rich, when the glory of his house is increased; 17 For when he dieth he shall carry nothing away: his glory shall not descend after him.

Don’t Be Like The Beasts That Perish

[60] Psalm 49:20 Man that is in honour, and understandeth not, is like the beasts that perish.

• Making things important that aren’t important doesn’t please God. Let’s put all of our trust in God.
• Let’s not be like beasts that perish. Trust in the Lord with all your heart.

[61] Psalm 52:6-8 The righteous also shall see, and fear, and shall laugh at him: 7 Lo, this is the man that made not God his strength; but trusted in the abundance of his riches, and strengthened himself in his wickedness. 8 But I am like a green olive tree in the house of God: I trust in the mercy of God for ever and ever.

[62] Psalm 55:22-23 Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved. 23 But thou, O God, shalt bring them down into the pit of destruction: bloody and deceitful men shall not live out half their days; but I will trust in thee.

[63] Psalm 56:2-4 Mine enemies would daily swallow me up: for they be many that fight against me, O thou most High. 3 What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee. 4 In God I will praise his word, in God I have put my trust; I will not fear what flesh can do unto me.

• When you are a true follower of Jesus Christ, people will come for you.
• Do not fear what FLESH can do to you. “IN GOD HAVE I PUT MY TRUST.”

[64] Psalm 61:2-4 From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I. 3 For thou hast been a shelter for me, and a strong tower from the enemy. 4 I will abide in thy tabernacle for ever: I will trust in the covert of thy wings. Selah.

• God is a rock that is higher than any other including yourself. Don’t trust yourself. Trust God.

[65] Psalm 64:10 The righteous shall be glad in the LORD, and shall trust in him; and all the upright in heart shall glory.

• Again, the righteous shall trust in God. It’s not our own righteousness.
• It’s the trusting part that makes us righteous. When we trust in God, He makes us righteous. It’s not us.
• If you think trusting God is optional, maybe you haven’t been listening today. These are commandments.

[66] Psalm 71:1-2 In thee, O LORD, do I put my trust: let me never be put to confusion. 2 Deliver me in thy righteousness, and cause me to escape: incline thine ear unto me, and save me.

• How are you going to be saved? BY GOD ALONE.
• If you think something else will save you, you will be confused.
• If you think it’s baptism, you’re going to be confused as to why you’re in hell.
• If you think it’s religion, you’re going to be confused as to why you’re burning in hell.
• God’s going to look at you while you’re burning and say, “HAVE YE NOT READ???”
• Do you see all of the Scriptures that tell us to place our trust in the Lord?
• That Scripture says, “I trust you Lord. SAVE ME.” If you do that, God will save you. He will do it.

[67] Psalm 78:22 Because they believed not in God, and trusted not in his salvation:

[68] Psalm 78:31 The wrath of God came upon them, and slew the fattest of them, and smote down the chosen men of Israel.

• If you believe not in God and do not trust in HIS SALVATION, the wrath of God will be on you.
• You’ve never seen wrath like that, and you don’t want any part of that at all.

[69] Psalm 84:12 O LORD of hosts, blessed is the man that trusteth in thee.

• Now that’s what you want. You want to be blessed. And to be blessed, simply trust in the Lord.
• And make sure you’re trusting in the right one by finding Him in the Bible.

[70] Psalm 112:7 He shall not be afraid of evil tidings: his heart is fixed, trusting in the LORD.

• You shouldn’t be afraid of anything if you understand who is on your side when you trust Him.

[71] Psalm 118:8-9 It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man. 9 It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in princes.

[72] Psalm 125:1 They that trust in the LORD shall be as mount Zion, which cannot be removed, but abideth for ever.

• How will you receive everlasting life? Simply trust in the Lord. And you will abide forever.
• Do you see that? The Old Testament teaches us over and over again how to be saved. Trust in the Lord.

[73] Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

[74] Proverbs 28:26 He that trusteth in his own heart is a fool: but whoso walketh wisely, he shall be delivered.

[75] Proverbs 30:5 Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him.

[76] Isaiah 12:2 Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid: for the LORD JEHOVAH is my strength and my song; he also is become my salvation.

[77] Jeremiah 7:8 Behold, ye trust in lying words, that cannot profit.

• So many churches are teaching LYING WORDS. They don’t teach God’s word.
• They don’t teach to put your trust in God and be saved today.

The Bible Is Filled With Scripture Commanding You To Trust In The Lord

[78] Jeremiah 39:18 For I will surely deliver thee, and thou shalt not fall by the sword, but thy life shall be for a prey unto thee: because thou hast put thy trust in me, saith the LORD.

• Look, the Bible is filled with these Scriptures. But, I’m not finished. Yes, this is long but I love God’s word.

[79] Ezekiel 16:15 But thou didst trust in thine own beauty, and playedst the harlot because of thy renown, and pouredst out thy fornications on every one that passed by; his it was.

• People trust in their very own beauty. I don’t have to worry about that. They become vain.
• Read Ezekiel Chapter 16 and find out what happened to those people.

[80] Micah 7:5-6 Trust ye not in a friend, put ye not confidence in a guide: keep the doors of thy mouth from her that lieth in thy bosom. 6 For the son dishonoureth the father, the daughter riseth up against her mother, the daughter in law against her mother in law; a man’s enemies are the men of his own house.

• Don’t put your trust in a friend or in a family. Put your trust in God. GOD SAYS SO.
• Don’t trust me and what I’m saying. TRUST GOD’S WORD.

[81] Nahum 1:7 The LORD is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble; and he knoweth them that trust in him.

• Don’t you want to be known by God?

[82] Habakkuk 2:18-20 What profiteth the graven image that the maker thereof hath graven it; the molten image, and a teacher of lies, that the maker of his work trusteth therein, to make dumb idols? 19 Woe unto him that saith to the wood, Awake; to the dumb stone, Arise, it shall teach! Behold, it is laid over with gold and silver, and there is no breath at all in the midst of it. 20 But the LORD is in his holy temple: let all the earth keep silence before him.

• People put their trust in the dumbest of things. I need my things. I love my things. I love my collectibles.
• I love my transformers. I love my old signs. I love my baseball cards. I love my Kentucky basketball.
• And why people are doing that, GOD IS IN HIS HOLY TEMPLE.
• Do you know who trusted in God? JESUS DID.

[83] Matthew 27:43 He trusted in God; let him deliver him now, if he will have him: for he said, I am the Son of God.

• Do you know why Jesus trusted in God? Because He knows Him better than any of us. Follow that lead.

[84] 2 Corinthians 3:4-5 And such trust have we through Christ to God-ward: 5 Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think any thing as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God;

• We trust Christ to save us. We know that we can’t do anything to save ourselves. We must rely on God.

[85] Ephesians 1:12-13 That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ. 13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,

• Trusting in the Lord and believing what He says is salvation. That’s how you’re saved.
• And let’s end with one last verse that churches don’t like. Ungodly women don’t like this.

[86] 1 Peter 3:5-6 For after this manner in the old time the holy women also, who trusted in God, adorned themselves, being in subjection unto their own husbands: 6 Even as Sara obeyed Abraham, calling him lord: whose daughters ye are, as long as ye do well, and are not afraid with any amazement.

• THE HOLY WOMEN also. Why were they holy? They trusted in God.
• They lowered themselves to be in subjection to their husbands because God asks for that.
• And if I had to take a guess today, there are more women who trust God than men.
• And that’s sad because the men are supposed to be leading and they can’t lead without God.
• I hope you’ve seen the truth today and will put your trust in the Lord.
• Trust and believe that God will save you.
