[2] The title of the sermon today is “THE IMPORTANCE OF THEE, THOU, THINE, AND THY.”

Thee, Thou, Thine, And Thy Are Highly Important Words!

• The words thee, thou, thine, and thy are very important to the Bible.
• Most people want to get rid of these out of the Bibles and the modern versions have.
• And what they’ve done is added great confusion to the Scriptures by getting rid of these words.
• The King James Bible, though, preserves these words and thank God for that.
• Most people believe that thee, thou, thine, and thy are equal to you, ye, yours, and your.
• I’ve put these in a table here so you can see the differences.

• Notice that the first letter in the singular form is a T.
• Notice that the first letter in the plural form is a Y.
• When you see thee, thou, thine, and thy in the Bible, this is talking to ONE person.
• When you see you, ye, yours, and your in the Bible, this is talking to MORE THAN ONE person.
• And yes, it’s that simple. And yes, this distinction between singular and plural is VERY important.
• Today, we’re going to look at the differences and see how important this is within the Bible.

First, the King James Bible knows the difference between singular and plural.

• The word thee is singular and is used 3826 times. The word you is plural and is used 2613 times.
• You can see how many times each of the words are used in the King James Bible in that table.
• They are used thousands of times on both sides, singular and plural.
• Thee, thou, thine, and thy are in the Bible 14,840 times. They must be important.
• Now, let’s see how many times each are used in the same verses.
• This is what’s going to show us how important these differences happen to be.

For example, I’m going to look for “THEE” and “YOU” in the same verse.

• There are 51 verses in the Bible that have both THEE and YOU in the same verse.
• I want to show you how important this is by going through many examples today.
• Here’s one of the 51 verses that have both THEE and YOU in the same verse.

[4] Exodus 29:42-43 This shall be a continual burnt offering throughout your generations at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation before the LORD: where I will meet you, to speak there unto thee. 43 And there I will meet with the children of Israel, and the tabernacle shall be sanctified by my glory.

• God tells Moses that “I will meet with you.”
• Is he going to meet just Moses at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation?
• He says, “I will meet with YOU.” YOU is a plural word in the King James Bible. It’s not just Moses.
• The next verse proves this. Verse 43 says, “I will meet with the children of Israel.”
• When I God tells Moses that “I will meet with you,” God means more than just Moses. It’s plural.

God Is Speaking With Moses Alone

But then God says in verse 42 there, “to speak there unto THEE.”

• God is meeting the children of Israel, but God is going to speak with Moses alone.
• How do we know this? The Bible uses the singular word THEE.
• Again, God is meeting the children of Israel there but is only speaking with Moses when they meet.
• This is important to see how this changes the meaning.
• I want to show you this same Scripture from the New American Standard Bible (NASB).

[5] Exodus 29:42-43 (False NASB) “It shall be a continual burnt offering throughout your generations at the doorway of the tent of meeting before the LORD , where I will meet with you, to speak to you there. 43 “I will meet there with the sons of Israel, and it shall be consecrated by My glory.

• With the NASB, it says YOU in both instances. I will meet with YOU to speak with YOU there.
• This adds confusion to the Bible. Who is God meeting there? Who is God speaking to there?
• Is it the children of Israel, or is it just Moses? Do you see the difference? Confusion.

So, what’s right? Is the King James Bible right, or is the New American Standard Bible right?

• Because there is a clear difference, and yes, the difference is important. Every word is important.
• How do you know which one is right? It’s very simple. We look to the underlying text of the Bible.
• We look to the Hebrew text. What did the Hebrew text say?
• Was God telling the children of Israel he would meet them there and speak to only Moses?

The Hebrew and the Greek languages have singular and plural words for the word YOU.

• In our English language today, we don’t use singular and plural forms of YOU.
• If I ask, “Do you hear me?” Am I talking to all of you, or just one of you? Do YOU see this?
• YOU, as we use it today, is both singular and plural.
• Hebrew is the original language used for the Old Testament.
• Greek is the original language used for the New Testament.

In both Hebrew and Greek, they have singular and plural forms of YOU. We don’t.

• But that’s why the King James Bible translators (and many before them) used thee, thou, thine, and thy.
• When you use those words, you get a perfect representation of the original Scriptures.
• The King James Bible is correct because we can easily understand who God meant in those verses.
• He is going to meet the children of Israel including Moses, but God is only going to speak to Moses there.
• That’s very important to understand. The King James Bible provides wisdom and knowledge.
• The New American Standard Bible has corrupted God’s word and meaning.
• “Well, it’s easier to understand if we just remove all the thee’s, thou’s, thine’s, and thy’s.”
• No, it’s not. The Bible gets so difficult to understand when you remove all of those.

[6] Leviticus 25:6-7 And the sabbath of the land shall be meat for you; for thee, and for thy servant, and for thy maid, and for thy hired servant, and for thy stranger that sojourneth with thee, 7 And for thy cattle, and for the beast that are in thy land, shall all the increase thereof be meat.

• God is speaking with Moses in mount Sinai at this time.
• He says, “And the sabbath of the land shall be meat for YOU.” He’s talking to more than one.
• And then we see who the YOU means: “for thee, thy servant, thy maid, thy hired servant, thy stranger, thy cattle, and the beast in thy land.”
• I hope you’re beginning to see how this works in the Bible.

[7] Numbers 10:29 And Moses said unto Hobab, the son of Raguel the Midianite, Moses’ father in law, We are journeying unto the place of which the LORD said, I will give it you: come thou with us, and we will do thee good: for the LORD hath spoken good concerning Israel.

• Moses says to his father in law named Hobab that God said, “I will give it to you.”
• When God said I will give it to YOU, he meant all the children of Israel. YOU is plural.
• Moses says, “Come THOU (singular) with us, and we will do THEE (singular) good.”
• Moses is asking Hobab alone to come with the children of Israel.
• Watch what the NIV says. The word YOU is used without distinction of singular or plural.

The False Bible Versions Add Confusion

[8] Number 10:29 (False NIV) Now Moses said to Hobab son of Reuel the Midianite, Moses’ father-in-law, “We are setting out for the place about which the LORD said, ‘I will give it to you.’ Come with us and we will treat you well, for the LORD has promised good things to Israel.”

• If someone is reading the NIV which has no distinction between singular and plural, it’s more difficult to understand.
• Someone might think that the Lord told Moses he would give it to him alone. “I will give it to you.”
• When you understand the differences in thee, thou, thine, and thy the King James Bible is amazing.
• You’ll see why we know that it is THE WORD OF GOD in English.
• I’ve added the number of verses in a table that have both singular and plural forms in the same verse.

• If you take a look at this table on the upper left, you’ll see the singular form THEE.
• Next to it you’ll see the plural forms YOU, YE, YOURS, and YOUR. Then you see the number of verses.
• For example, the word THEE and YOU are found together in the same verse 51 times.
• If we move to Thou on the lower left, you’ll see that THOU and YE are found together 152 times in the same verse.
• If you count up all of those verses, you get a grand total of 719 verses that have both singular and plural forms in the same exact verse.

The point of this is to show you that the King James Bible translators know there’s a clear difference between these words.

• Thee and you are not equal. Thou and ye are not equal. Thine and yours is not equal.
• Thy and your is not equal. These words cannot be replaced because they are not equal.
• They are all there for a reason. The original autographs show a clear distinction between these words.
• So, why in the world would we want to take that clear distinction away?
• The argument is that it’s easier to understand the Bible without these words.
• That’s not an argument because it’s false. The Bible is MUCH HARDER to understand without these words.
• Let’s look at another example. The first time the word THEE is used in the Bible is Genesis Chapter 3.

[10] Genesis 3:11-13 And he said, Who told thee that thou wast naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat? 12 And the man said, The woman whom thou gavest to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I did eat. 13 And the LORD God said unto the woman, What is this that thou hast done? And the woman said, The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat.

• What do we see so far in these verses?
• We see that God commanded THEE, which means ADAM directly, to not eat of the fruit of the tree.
• Focus on the word THOU now in these verses.
• In verse 11, God asks Adam, “Who told thee that THOU wast naked?”

It’s easy to see that God uses the word THOU to talk directly to Adam alone. No one else. It’s singular.

• In verse 12, Adam responds, “The woman whom THOU gavest to be with me.”
• Adam uses the word THOU to talk directly to God alone. No one else. It’s singular.
• In verse 13, we see God ask Eve, “What is this that THOU hast done?”
• God used the word THOU to talk directly to Eve alone. No one else. Just Eve. Singular.
• So far, THOU has been used to address Adam, God, and Eve separately and distinctly.

[11] Genesis 3:14-15 And the LORD God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life: 15 And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.

• We’re looking at the word THOU again. Now we see that God speaks to the serpent who is the devil.
• God uses THOU to address the serpent 5 times in those verses right there.
• THOU in Genesis 3:11-15 is used to address Adam, God, Eve, and the serpent.
• Many people believe that the THOU’s are some special language to address God only.
• Or, they think THEE, THOU, THINE, and THY are some special prayer language to God alone.
• That’s a lie. That’s false doctrine. Thou is simple a singular word to address one person.
• I want to show you where this idea came from that THOU is only used to address God himself.
• Let’s look at the same verses in the 1977 version of the New American Standard Bible.

[12] Geneses 3:11-13 (False 1977 NASB) And He said, “Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree of which I commanded you not to eat?” 12 And the man said, “The woman whom Thou gavest [to be] with me, she gave me from the tree, and I ate.” 13 Then the LORD God said to the woman, “What is this you have done?” And the woman said, “The serpent deceived me, and I ate.”

• In the 1977 NASB, the word thou is used once in verse 12 to address God. Notice the capital T.
• In the King James Bible, the word thou is used 5 times in this same Scripture. It’s not capitalized.
• The NASB started using Thou with a capital T to address God only. Why did they do that?
• It’s just something they made up. It came out of nothing. They created something from nothing.
• People started to believe that God alone is addressed with Thee, Thou, Thine, and Thy.

Many Bible Translators Are Ignorant Of God’s Word

Why? Because of these ignorant “Bible” translators. It’s the truth. They are ignorant of God’s word.

• They couldn’t study and see why the King James Bible uses these as singular forms.
• The underlying Hebrew and Greek text have singular and plural forms of these words.
• You would think a so-called expert translator could see this, but I guess not.
• In the 1977 NASB, the word thee is found 474 times. The word thou is found more than 1000 times.
• The word thine is found 171 times. The word thy is found over 1000 times.
• In the 1995 NASB, the words are found 0 times. Here’s what the 1995 version says:

[13] Gen 3:11-13 (False 1995 NASB) And He said, “Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree of which I commanded you not to eat?” 12 The man said, “The woman whom You gave [to be] with me, she gave me from the tree, and I ate.” 13 Then the LORD God said to the woman, “What is this you have done?” And the woman said, “The serpent deceived me, and I ate.”

• They simply replaced THOU with YOU. And they charge you for a new version of their corrupted trash.
• They add confusion to God’s word, and they charge you for it.
• Thee, thou, thine, and thy are not some special words to address God alone.
• The corrupted “Bible” versions brought that idea in.
• THOU is not equal to YOU. But the NASB thinks so.
• “Well, the King James Bible is out dated. It’s archaic. We need something in our modern language.”
• No, we don’t. The King James Bible is unique and amazing.
• It’s better than anything in our modern language, and it’s easier to understand. It came from God.

[14] 1 Corinthians 12:21 And the eye cannot say unto the hand, I have no need of thee: nor again the head to the feet, I have no need of you.

• Hand is singular. “And the eye cannot say unto the hand, I have no need of THEE.” Thee is singular.
• Hand is singular. Thee is singular. The Bible is perfect. It matches perfectly.
• Feet is plural. You have more than one foot. This is feet. Two feet.
• The Bible says, “Nor again the head to the feet, I have no need of YOU.” You is plural.

[15] Titus 3:15 All that are with me salute thee. Greet them that love us in the faith. Grace be with you all. Amen.

• Paul is writing directly to Titus within this letter to Titus.
• Paul says, “All that are with me salute THEE.” Paul and all that are with him are saluting Titus alone.
• It’s not more than one. It’s simply Titus alone because the King James Bible says so right there.
• But at the end of the verse, Paul ends with his normal signature or salutation.
• “Grace be with YOU all. Amen.” YOU is plural. More than one. He’s talking to you too.

[16] Titus 3:15 (False NKJV) All who are with me greet you. Greet those who love us in the faith. Grace be with you all. Amen.

• With the modern versions like the NKJV, you would have to guess if he is also saluting you.
• And we don’t have to guess if YOU means more than one in the KJB like we do in the modern versions.
• If I looked into this rom and said, “I want YOU to come up here.”
• This would confuse all of you. Well, which one does he want? Does he want us all to come up here?
• Knowing the difference between thee and you gets rid of the confusion and makes it very clear.
• If I said, “I want thee to come up here.” You would know that I meant just one person.
• If I said, “I want you to come up here.” You would know that I mean all of you.
• We don’t need the extra confusion within the Bible, and God knew that.

[17] 1 Corinthians 14:33 For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.

• The Holy Spirit who is God, who is the Spirit of Christ, wrote the Bible.
• In the original autographs, the Holy Spirit added the distinction between singular and plural words.
• If the Holy Spirit wanted that distinction there, why would we take it out?
• “Oh, it’s because our modern English doesn’t use those words.”
• Well guess what? GOD WANTS THE DISTINCTION THERE. You don’t get to take it out.
• Don’t act as if you represent God and then go against his will. He wanted it there.
• The King James Bible translators obviously saw that, and they put the distinction there.
• And YES, that fact alone is enough to burn all the other modern perversions of the Bible.

Taking Thee, Thou, Thine, and Thy Out Of Bibles Does Change The Bible Greatly

And you might say, “Well, taking them out isn’t a big deal. It doesn’t really change anything.”

• Oh yes it does. We’ve already showed some examples, but let’s see some more.
• Taking out the thee’s, thou’s, thine’s, and thy’s is equal to taking away from God’s words.

[18] Joshua 1:1-3 Now after the death of Moses the servant of the LORD it came to pass, that the LORD spake unto Joshua the son of Nun, Moses’ minister, saying, 2 Moses my servant is dead; now therefore arise, go over this Jordan, thou, and all this people, unto the land which I do give to them, even to the children of Israel. 3 Every place that the sole of your foot shall tread upon, that have I given unto you, as I said unto Moses.

• God tells Joshua to go over the Jordan, THOU, and all this people. He’s talking directly to Joshua.
• “Every place that the sole of YOUR foot shall tread upon, that have I given unto YOU.”
• Everywhere the children of Israel go, God has given that land to THEM as a group. PLURAL.
• Without this distinction, this entire chapter would be very difficult to understand.
• Moving down to verse 5 in Joshua Chapter 1.

[19] Joshua 1:5 There shall not any man be able to stand before thee all the days of thy life: as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee: I will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.

• God is making this promise DIRECTLY to Joshua alone. This doesn’t include the children of Israel.
• No man would be able to stand before Joshua all the days of Joshua’s life.
• This promise is NOT to all the children of Israel. Do you see that? It’s Joshua’s promise alone from God.
• Without the thee’s and the thy in this verse, how would we know that?
• The Holy Spirit put the distinction there. God wanted us to know that this promise is to Joshua alone.

[20] Joshua 1:6 Be strong and of a good courage: for unto this people shalt thou divide for an inheritance the land, which I sware unto their fathers to give them.

• Who is going to divide the land unto the people? Is it Joshua alone or is it a group of people?
• “For unto this people shalt THOU divide for an inheritance the land.”
• THOU is singular. God is commanding Joshua alone to divide the land between the people.

[21] Joshua 1:7 Only be thou strong and very courageous, that thou mayest observe to do according to all the law, which Moses my servant commanded thee: turn not from it to the right hand or to the left, that thou mayest prosper whithersoever thou goest.

• Again, we see the singular form THOU. God is speaking to Joshua alone.
• He’s telling Joshua he will prosper wherever he goes if he observes his laws and does his laws.

[22] Joshua 1:8 This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.

• God continues to give Joshua commandments here.

[23] Joshua 1:9 Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.

• God isn’t speaking to all the children of Israel. He’s speaking to Joshua alone.
• “For the Lord thy God is with THEE whithersoever THOU goest.” I hope you’re seeing the difference.
• And yes, this does matter. And yes, this does change the meaning of the Bible thousands of times.

[24] Joshua 1:10-11 Then Joshua commanded the officers of the people, saying, 11 Pass through the host, and command the people, saying, Prepare you victuals; for within three days ye shall pass over this Jordan, to go in to possess the land, which the LORD your God giveth you to possess it.

• Now we switch over to PLURAL. Prepare YOU victuals. YE shall pass over. YOUR God giveth YOU.
• You, Ye, and Your are all plural forms. Do you see how God knows how to write the Bible?

[25] Joshua 1:12-13 And to the Reubenites, and to the Gadites, and to half the tribe of Manasseh, spake Joshua, saying, 13 Remember the word which Moses the servant of the LORD commanded you, saying, The LORD your God hath given you rest, and hath given you this land.

• Joshua speaks to the Reubenites, the Gadites, and the half tribe of Manasseh. Not all of the tribes.
• You have to pay attention to the words within the Bible.
• He isn’t speaking to ALL the children of Israel, but he is speaking to more than one.
• God commanded YOU. YOUR God hath given YOU rest. He hath given YOU this land. Plural.

[26] Joshua 1:14-15 Your wives, your little ones, and your cattle, shall remain in the land which Moses gave you on this side Jordan; but ye shall pass before your brethren armed, all the mighty men of valour, and help them; 15 Until the LORD have given your brethren rest, as he hath given you, and they also have possessed the land which the LORD your God giveth them: then ye shall return unto the land of your possession, and enjoy it, which Moses the LORD’S servant gave you on this side Jordan toward the sunrising.

• Joshua commands the tribe of Reuben, the tribe of Gad, and the half tribe of Manasseh.
• He says, “Your wives, children, and cattle will remain in the land God gave you.”
• “But you aren’t going to rest there YET. You’re going to help all the other tribes fight for theirs.”
• He’s talking to more than one so you see all the YOURS and YOU in that Scripture.
• But watch the very next verses.

They Agree To Obey Joshua

[27] Joshua 1:16-17 And they answered Joshua, saying, All that thou commandest us we will do, and whithersoever thou sendest us, we will go. 17 According as we hearkened unto Moses in all things, so will we hearken unto thee: only the LORD thy God be with thee, as he was with Moses.

• They answer Joshua. They tell Joshua, not God, that they will obey Joshua and his commands.
• Joshua is their leader that God placed over them just like Moses.
• They say, “We’ll do what THY sayeth, Joshua.”

[28] Joshua 1:18 Whosoever he be that doth rebel against thy commandment, and will not hearken unto thy words in all that thou commandest him, he shall be put to death: only be strong and of a good courage.

• They are telling Joshua alone that they will do what he says.
• They will hearken unto his words alone.
• If someone doesn’t do what Joshua commands, they’ll put that person to death.
• Now, after that, it’s very easy to understand who God is talking to in the Bible.
• It’s easy to understand the promises and who each promise is to. Is it not? It’s very easy.
• The King James Bible is so much easier to understand.

If we would have went to a modern Bible version like the New King James, you would have been confused.

• They are pure confusion. They are a perversion of God’s words.
• You can’t be sure who the promises are for. Is it just Joshua or is it all the children of Israel?
• You have to guess with those modern perversions of God’s word. That’s the truth.

[29] Luke 22:31-32 And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat: 32 But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren.

• That’s Jesus Christ speaking right there to Simon Peter or Peter as we know him.
• But the other disciples are there at this time too. Jesus addresses Peter but watch what he says:
• “Satan hath desired to have YOU, that he may sift YOU as wheat.”
• This means Jesus is telling all that are present that Satan desires to have all of them. Not just Peter.

And then Jesus says, “But I have prayed for THEE, that THY faith fail not.”

• “When THOU are converted, strengthen THY brethren.” Jesus prayed for Peter alone.
• Jesus doesn’t say, “I’ve prayed for YOU.” That would be plural. He says THEE which is Peter alone.
• Why? Because Jesus knew that Peter needed that prayer. He prayed for Peter. Not all the others.
• If I was there, I would have said, “Hold on Jesus. Can you pray for me too? Please?”
• But watch what the English Standard Version or ESV does to this Scripture.

[30] Luke 22:31-32 (False ESV) “Simon, Simon, behold, Satan demanded to have you, that he might sift you like wheat, 32 but I have prayed for you that your faith may not fail. And when you have turned again, strengthen your brothers.”

• In the ESV, you think that Jesus is only talking with Simon Peter.
• You won’t realize that he’s talking to all the disciples that are present.
• It sounds like a one on one conversation. Does it not? But it isn’t a one on one conversation.
• With the King James Bible, you can easily see this. The ESV even puts footnotes to explain.
• “The Greek word for you (twice in this verse) is plural; in verse 32, all four instances are singular.”
• Guess what? You don’t see footnotes all over the King James Bible. They confuse people.

[31] Revelation 2:10 Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life.

• Jesus says, “Fear none of the things which THOU shalt suffer.” Singular. One person.
• “The devil shall cast some of YOU into prison, that YE may be tried; and YE shall have tribulation.”
• YOU and YE is plural. He’s talking to more than one.
• And watch what Jesus says, “Be THOU faithful unto death, and I will give THEE a crown of life.”
• That crown of life is ONLY for the individual who stays faithful unto death. Do you see that?
• If one stays faithful unto death, the entire group doesn’t get a crown of life.

[32] Genesis 27:43-45 Now therefore, my son, obey my voice; and arise, flee thou to Laban my brother to Haran; 44 And tarry with him a few days, until thy brother’s fury turn away; 45 Until thy brother’s anger turn away from thee, and he forget that which thou hast done to him: then I will send, and fetch thee from thence: why should I be deprived also of you both in one day?

• This is Rebekah speaking to Jacob her son directly. Rebekah says, “THY brother’s fury.”
• THY brother’s anger. Turn away from THEE. Which THOU hast done. Fetch THEE from thence.
• And then at the end she says, “Why should I be deprived also of YOU?”
• She switches to plural which means more than just Jacob. She’s talking about both sons.
• She doesn’t want to be deprived of BOTH sons, Jacob and Esau.

Don’t Fight To Get Rid Of Something You Don’t Understand

So, people will continue to fight against the Thee’s, Thou’s, Thine’s, and Thy’s.

• They’ll continue to spread lies when they don’t even understand why they’re there.
• They are very easy to understand. They’re singular. It’s very easy to see and understand.
• That’s why those words are in the King James Bible. They aren’t hard to understand.

[33] Romans 10:14 How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?

• That’s right. Whatever you’ve learned today, you need to take it to someone else.
• Why are you not reading the King James Bible? Is it the thee’s, thou’s, thine’s, and thy’s?
• Can I show you how important they are and how easy it is to understand?
• The King James Bible is actually much easier to understand than the other versions.
• If you’re having trouble understanding the Bible, let me give you the Gospel first.
• And then I’ll give you a King James Bible. Your wisdom and understanding will skyrocket.
• Hey, that’s the truth. We need to tell people the truth. How will they hear without a preacher?

Some people spread lies about thee, thou, thine, and thy. Some do it purposely. Some don’t know the truth.

• People will say that thee, thou, thine, and thy were used in normal conversation in the 1600’s and 1700’s.
• They’ll say that’s why the King James Bible includes those words. That was normal back then.
• Guess what? No, it wasn’t. That language was gone long before the 16 and 1700’s.
• People will say, “Well, we don’t use that language any more so let’s get rid of it.”
• “They used it back then, but we don’t need it now.” Hey, look, they didn’t use those words back then.
• Maybe we just need to get a good dictionary and actually put some effort into something.

The Oxford English Dictionary tells us all we need to know about thee, thou, thine, and thy.

• Thee, thou, thine, and thy are SINGULAR.
• You, ye, yours, and your are PLURAL.
• That’s it. There’s no other mystery behind them.
• But what else do we learn from a little research?
• Thee, thou, thine, and thy were used in normal conversation in Old English.
• That means they were used before the 1100’s in normal conversation.
• Before the 1400’s, thee, thou, thine, and thy were considered archaic.

They weren’t used in normal English conversation long before the King James Bible.

• There are several Bibles that the King James translators were commanded to use by King James himself.
• The King James translators were to use these Bibles:
  • Bishops’ Bible
  • Tyndale’s Bible
  • Coverdale’s Bible
  • Matthew’s Bible
  • Geneva Bible
• Out of that list of English Bibles that the King James translators used, the Tyndale Bible is the oldest.
• It was finished in 1525. The King James Bible was finished in 1611.

Thee, thou, thine, and thy wasn’t used in normal English conversation at that time.

• Why were they used then? Because they wanted to maintain what the Holy Ghost put in the Scriptures.
• The Holy Ghost used singular and plural words in the Hebrew/Greek so these translators did the same.
• What would you do? Wouldn’t you want to keep the original intent of God within your work?
• I sure would. I wouldn’t take God’s intent away from HIS SCRIPTURES.
• If you’re thinking, “Well, who cares” then you have a big problem. GOD CARED ENOUGH to put it there.
• God cared enough but you don’t? Do you think God cares about his words?

God Cares About His Words

[34] Psalm 138:2 I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy lovingkindness and for thy truth: for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name.

• Again, “For thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name.”
• This is King David speaking to God. What’s this mean? GOD magnified his word above his name.
• So, do you want to just say, “Oh, who cares? It’s just thee, thou, thine, and thy. We don’t need those.”
• If you do, maybe you need to read the King James Bible and get the fear of God within you.
• Saying, “Who cares?” when it comes to God’s word is PURE EVIL. Do you want to say that?

[35] Jeremiah 8:1 At that time, saith the LORD, they shall bring out the bones of the kings of Judah, and the bones of his princes, and the bones of the priests, and the bones of the prophets, and the bones of the inhabitants of Jerusalem, out of their graves:

[36] Jeremiah 8:2 And they shall spread them before the sun, and the moon, and all the host of heaven, whom they have loved, and whom they have served, and after whom they have walked, and whom they have sought, and whom they have worshipped: they shall not be gathered, nor be buried; they shall be for dung upon the face of the earth.

[37] Jeremiah 8:3 And death shall be chosen rather than life by all the residue of them that remain of this evil family, which remain in all the places whither I have driven them, saith the LORD of hosts.

• Maybe that might put a little fear of God into you. Is that not enough?

[38] Jeremiah 16:4 They shall die of grievous deaths; they shall not be lamented; neither shall they be buried; but they shall be as dung upon the face of the earth: and they shall be consumed by the sword, and by famine; and their carcases shall be meat for the fowls of heaven, and for the beasts of the earth.

[39] Jeremiah 16:5 For thus saith the LORD, Enter not into the house of mourning, neither go to lament nor bemoan them: for I have taken away my peace from this people, saith the LORD, even lovingkindness and mercies.

• Maybe next time you say, “Who cares?” God just might say, “Who cares?” when you need his help.
• Maybe next time you’re in big, big, big trouble that only God could help with, he’ll say, “Who cares?”

[40] Proverbs 1:24-27 Because I have called, and ye refused; I have stretched out my hand, and no man regarded; 25 But ye have set at nought all my counsel, and would none of my reproof: 26 I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your fear cometh; 27 When your fear cometh as desolation, and your destruction cometh as a whirlwind; when distress and anguish cometh upon you.

[41] Proverbs 1:28-30 Then shall they call upon me, but I will not answer; they shall seek me early, but they shall not find me: 29 For that they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of the LORD: 30 They would none of my counsel: they despised all my reproof.

• Never act like you don’t care about God’s words. He magnified his word above his own name.
• Thee, thou, thine, and thy are VERY important to God’s word. The Holy Spirit thought so.
• And then you have people come along and act like they know more than GOD ALMIGHTY.

[42] Job 40:6-9 Then answered the LORD unto Job out of the whirlwind, and said, 7 Gird up thy loins now like a man: I will demand of thee, and declare thou unto me. 8 Wilt thou also disannul my judgment? wilt thou condemn me, that thou mayest be righteous? 9 Hast thou an arm like God? or canst thou thunder with a voice like him?

• God put the singular and plural versions of words there. Why are you removing them?
• Are you like God? Do you think you know better than God?
• Are you going to teach God? Do you have an ARM like God? Do you have unlimited power?
• Are you ALL POWERFUL? Does your voice THUNDER like God’s voice?
• Why are you changing God’s word? Why are you changing the meaning of God’s word?
• One day you’ll finally know and understand the Lord God Almighty. ONE DAY.

[43] Exodus 8:10 And he said, To morrow. And he said, Be it according to thy word: that thou mayest know that there is none like unto the LORD our God.

• HEY, THERE IS NONE LIKE UNTO THE LORD OUTR GOD. NONE!!!
• We better STOP messing with his words. God doesn’t play games with his words.
• His words aren’t there for no reason. They aren’t there for us to play around with and change.
• They aren’t there for fun. They’re there for a reason. What’s that reason?

God’s Words Are There So We Know What He Wants

[44] Psalm 119:1-3 ALEPH. Blessed are the undefiled in the way, who walk in the law of the LORD. 2 Blessed are they that keep his testimonies, and that seek him with the whole heart. 3 They also do no iniquity: they walk in his ways.

[45] Psalm 119:4-6 Thou hast commanded us to keep thy precepts diligently. 5 O that my ways were directed to keep thy statutes! 6 Then shall I not be ashamed, when I have respect unto all thy commandments.

• How are you going to know what God wants if you don’t have HIS WORDS?
• You’re going to be lost. You’re going to be confused. You’re going to be wandering around as blind.
• YES, the modern versions have NO DOUBT corrupted God’s words. NO DOUBT.

[46] Psalm 119:7-9 I will praise thee with uprightness of heart, when I shall have learned thy righteous judgments. 8 I will keep thy statutes: O forsake me not utterly. 9 BETH. Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to thy word.

• How do we cleanse our way? How are we forgiven of our sin? How do we find the true way to heaven?
• “BY TAKING HEED THERETO ACCORDING TO THY WORD.” Notice it says according to THY word.
• Whose word would that be? That would be GOD’S WORD. THY WORD.
• When we change it to whatever WE WANT because WE THINK it’s best, it’s not God’s word any more.
• How in the world are we going to be saved from death and hell without God’s word?
• How will we ever find the truth without GOD’S WORD? Read Psalm 119 when you get home.

[47] John 17:17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.

• That’s the words of Jesus Christ right there who is THE WORD OF GOD.
• Sanctify or save us through THY TRUTH. THY WORD IS TRUTH. God’s word is truth.
• How do we know the truth? We MUST go to God’s word. Get yourself a King James Bible.
• And give it everything you have each and every day. You’ll find the true God within those pages.

To summarize:

• THEE, THOU, THINE, and THY are all singular words.
• YOU, YE, YOURS, and YOU are all plural words.
• Remember that when you’re reading the Bible, and you will gain knowledge, wisdom, and understanding.
• And who is the one giving that to you? GOD ALMIGHTY. He put those words in the Bible for a reason.
• Trust what he did. His work is perfect. Now it’s time for you to get to work knowing his words.
