[2] The title of the sermon: “PROVERBS CHAPTER 22.”

Verse By Verse Study Through Proverbs Chapter 22

  • Let’s continue with our verse by verse Bible study in the Book of Proverbs.
  • We have 29 verses to go through in this chapter and each one is filled with wisdom.
  • Let’s start there in verse 1 of Proverbs Chapter 22.

[3] Proverbs 22:1 A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches, and loving favour rather than silver and gold.

  • Would you rather have great riches and a bad name, or a good name without riches?
  • If you are wise, you will choose a good name over great riches.
  • There’s so many people who will lie, cheat, and steal to great riches as they corrupt their name.
  • But they don’t care. This is foolish. God says a good name is better than great riches.

Loving favour is better than silver and gold. DO NOT CORRUPT YOUR NAME BY DOING EVIL. Do good.

  • Choose God’s ways, and you will do good. This is why we read the Bible.
  • This one verse could save the lives of millions of people in this world right now. One verse.

[4] Proverbs 22:2 The rich and poor meet together: the LORD is the maker of them all.

  • You need to understand this right now. We don’t treat the poor differently than the rich.
  • For example, if a rich man walks in here, we don’t treat them differently than a poor man.
  • Why is that? The Lord is the maker of them all. He made you. He made me. He made all of us.
  • But, for some reason, people think money and riches makes them better than others. It doesn’t.

[5] Job 31:15 Did not he that made me in the womb make him? and did not one fashion us in the womb?

[6] 1 Samuel 2:7 The LORD maketh poor, and maketh rich: he bringeth low, and lifteth up.

  • God made every one of us. Remember that when you think you’re better than someone else.
  • And just so you know, it’s a great sin to think that way. It is a great evil to think that way.

[7] James 2:2-4 For if there come unto your assembly a man with a gold ring, in goodly apparel, and there come in also a poor man in vile raiment; 3 And ye have respect to him that weareth the gay clothing, and say unto him, Sit thou here in a good place; and say to the poor, Stand thou there, or sit here under my footstool: 4 Are ye not then partial in yourselves, and are become judges of evil thoughts?

  • If you treat the rich better than the poor, you have a big problem. You’re doing evil. Don’t do it.

[8] Job 34:19 How much less to him that accepteth not the persons of princes, nor regardeth the rich more than the poor? for they all are the work of his hands.

  • God doesn’t accept persons because they are high or low, rich or poor. He made them all.
  • This means you should not accept persons either. Don’t treat people differently. Let’s move to verse 3.

[9] Proverbs 22:3 A prudent man foreseeth the evil, and hideth himself: but the simple pass on, and are punished.

  • It’s wise to take a look upon the situations that you are approaching.
  • For example, when I was 16 years old, I was tricked into taking a 40-year old man to a drug deal.
  • I thought I was taking him to help his dad, a plumber, at a house. Instead, I went to a drug deal.
  • He bought drugs while he was in my car. I’ve never done an illegal drug in my life. I learned a lesson.

If I would have been wiser, I would have noticed that he walked across the street to where I worked from a bar.

  • That bar was known for drugs. It’s gone now. I should have known not to give him a ride.
  • We must foreseeth the evil, and hide ourselves from that evil.
  • Another example would be to not fall into temptations. If you see it coming, go the other way.
  • If something causes you to get angry and upset, it’s time to put a stop to it before it goes too far.

[10] Matthew 24:15-16 When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:) 16 Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains:

  • There’s great tribulation coming. You will be able to foresee the evil coming. Flee to the mountains.
  • Hide. Elijah fled to the wilderness. Foresee the evil and hide yourself. Don’t be simple and pass on.
  • For example, don’t pass over the chance to be saved and receive everlasting life.
  • If you pass over that chance, you aren’t foreseeing the evil that awaits you in hell.

[11] Proverbs 22:4 By humility and the fear of the LORD are riches, and honour, and life.

  • The false preachers take verses like that and preach that God will make you rich with money.
  • They don’t see anything else in the Bible. We pray that we don’t become rich with money.
  • It’s a trap and a snare. The last chapter in Proverbs taught us this.

Spiritual Riches Are Far Greater Than Money

So, what do you think this is talking about? This is speaking of spiritual riches as these are true riches.

  • Spiritual riches are honorable. Humility and fear of the Lord leads to true riches, honor, and life.
  • Money doesn’t lead to life. The gift of God cannot be purchased with money.
  • Humility or humbleness and submitting to God because you fear Him is what leads to good things.

[12] Psalm 34:9-10 O fear the LORD, ye his saints: for there is no want to them that fear him. 10 The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger: but they that seek the LORD shall not want any good thing.

  • When we fear God, we know He will take care of us. We have no want.
  • We know He gives us what we need as we need it. He gives us good things.

[13] Proverbs 22:5 Thorns and snares are in the way of the froward: he that doth keep his soul shall be far from them.

  • Worldly riches are thorns and snares, but the froward love the riches.
  • The root of all evil is the love of money. The froward are the evil. Don’t go that direction.
  • We will keep our soul through Jesus Christ. We will stay away from the thorns, traps, and snares.

When evil is that way, we go the other way. When there is a gay pride parade, we don’t go protest against it.

  • We go far from it. We don’t want to see the abominations that are there. We won’t be around it.
  • Thorns and snares are in the way of the froward. What’s another example of a froward person?
  • This is one who won’t work. Thorns and snares will be in his way.

[14] Proverbs 15:19 The way of the slothful man is as an hedge of thorns: but the way of the righteous is made plain.

  • God rains down the snares or the traps for these froward and wicked men and women.
  • And yes, a wicked man is one who won’t work and provide for his own family.

[15] Psalm 11:6 Upon the wicked he shall rain snares, fire and brimstone, and an horrible tempest: this shall be the portion of their cup.

  • Remember this. God will rain snares or traps upon the wicked.

[16] Psalm 18:26 With the pure thou wilt shew thyself pure; and with the froward thou wilt shew thyself froward.

  • If you want to do evil, God will show you evil. If you want to do good, God will show you good.
  • Let’s continue in Proverbs Chapter 22 verse 6.

[17] Proverbs 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.

  • We MUST do this with our children. They aren’t going to be perfect.
  • But they will remember the right way, and when they are old, they will not depart from it.
  • The people who end up going the wrong way, when they are old, were not trained up in the right way.

[18] 2 Timothy 3:14-15 But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them; 15 And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.

  • From a child, Timothy knew the Holy Scriptures. Each of our children need to know the Holy Scriptures.
  • This is why we’re reading through the Bible 5 times per year.
  • We didn’t always read the Bible like that as we grew up. Think of what they’re getting.
  • They are working on memorizing Scriptures constantly. They are reading the Bible constantly.

We must continue this. We must stop and answer their questions and show them the right ways.

  • Why is this so important to do? The last part of verse 15 right there tells you.
  • The Scriptures are able to make these children wise unto salvation through FAITH which is in Christ Jesus.
  • They will continue to read their Bible and meditate on the Scriptures. This is the right way.
  • They will be saved. They will see you in heaven one day.

[19] Proverbs 22:7 The rich ruleth over the poor, and the borrower is servant to the lender.

  • Yes, the rich do rule over the poor. The borrower is servant to the lender.
  • You don’t want to be in debt to humans because you are serving them.
  • Many people, in the past, would call me rich because I had an average home But I was in debt.
  • I wasn’t rich. I simply worked. Had an average home and average cars.

If You Are In Debt, You Are Not Rich

If you are in debt, you are not rich. Understand that one. You are in the negative.

  • You might act as if you’re rich will all the things you have, but you don’t own them.
  • You borrowed all the money, and you haven’t paid it back. You are servant to the lender.

The lender is rich. You are poor. I am out of debt now, but I am far from rich. I am not poor, and I am not rich.

  • That’s where I want to be. We are content or happy with what God has given us.
  • In contrast, Bill Gates and Elon Musk are rich. They rule over the poor in ways we don’t even realize.
  • We are not poor so we will not be ruled over by these men and women like them.
  • My ruler is the richest of all by infinite amounts. His name is God Almighty. His name is Jesus Christ.

[20] Proverbs 22:8 He that soweth iniquity shall reap vanity: and the rod of his anger shall fail.

  • A man that sows iniquity is one that does evil constantly. He loves for others to do evil with him.
  • He sows these seeds of iniquity. What’s going to grow from his sowing of evil? Nothing good.
  • He’s not going to reap anything good. He’s going to reap vanity or worthlessness.
  • The rod of his anger shall fail. For example, Hitler failed. He is a failure. He’s burning in hell.
  • God is always infinite times stronger and more powerful than all men put together. They will fail.
  • The Lord God Almighty will prevail. There’s no contest. He will end them and cast them into hell.

[21] Job 4:8 Even as I have seen, they that plow iniquity, and sow wickedness, reap the same.

[22] Hosea 8:7 For they have sown the wind, and they shall reap the whirlwind: it hath no stalk: the bud shall yield no meal: if so be it yield, the strangers shall swallow it up.

[23] Galatians 6:7-8 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. 8 For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.

  • Sow iniquity and get iniquity. For example, Jacob lied to his father Isaac.
  • And then Jacob was easily deceived. He reaped what he sowed. Be a liar and you will be lied to constantly.
  • And you won’t know when they’re lying to you. Deceive others and you will be deceived.
  • Steal another man’s wife, and your wife will be stolen from you.

[24] Proverbs 22:9 He that hath a bountiful eye shall be blessed; for he giveth of his bread to the poor.

  • Do you have a bountiful eye or one that thinks all the food and drink will be gone one day?
  • Do you think God has enough supplies to take care of us or not?
  • Do you think the earth will be destroyed through climate change? Let me be clear. It won’t.
  • The earth will remain forever. It will be made new, but it will never be destroyed.

As long as God is here, which is forever, we will have enough. He will feed us when we need it.

  • He will give us drink when we need it. Do you take the last pack of bread on the grocery shelf?
  • Do you snatch it away from the person who needs it? Or do you know you will have enough?
  • Let the others have the bread. Buy the bread and give it to the poor. We’ll have enough.
  • “He that hath a bountiful eye shall be blessed.” God will take care of you.

[25] Proverbs 11:25 The liberal soul shall be made fat: and he that watereth shall be watered also himself.

[26] Proverbs 19:17 He that hath pity upon the poor lendeth unto the LORD; and that which he hath given will he pay him again.

[27] Isaiah 32:8 But the liberal deviseth liberal things; and by liberal things shall he stand.

[28] Acts 20:35 I have shewed you all things, how that so labouring ye ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive.

  • Most people won’t give because they think they’ll run out themselves. Have a bountiful eye.
  • You won’t run out. God says that He will pay you again. Trust what He says.

[29] Proverbs 22:10 Cast out the scorner, and contention shall go out; yea, strife and reproach shall cease.

  • A scorner or one who hates God’s words will always cause contention and strife to the right ways.
  • For example, you can turn on CNN and it will be filled with scorners. They love abortion.
  • They love murder. They love racism. They love breaking all of God’s laws.
  • They love pedophiles. The new supreme court justice loves pedophiles. We don’t. God doesn’t.

Contention and Strife Will Cease One Day

When God casts all of these scorners into the lake of fire at the end, contention shall go out.

  • Strife and reproach shall cease. Same thing in the churches. We don’t welcome everyone here.
  • If you want to come in here with a false gospel, and you won’t change your mind, you will go out.
  • If you want to teach a works based salvation, you will go out. If you are a fornicator, you will go out.
  • Let me ask you a question. Do you think Nehemiah was a Godly man?

[30] Nehemiah 13:23-24 In those days also saw I Jews that had married wives of Ashdod, of Ammon, and of Moab: 24 And their children spake half in the speech of Ashdod, and could not speak in the Jews’ language, but according to the language of each people.

[31] Nehemiah 13:25 And I contended with them, and cursed them, and smote certain of them, and plucked off their hair, and made them swear by God, saying, Ye shall not give your daughters unto their sons, nor take their daughters unto your sons, or for yourselves.

[32] Nehemiah 13:26-27 Did not Solomon king of Israel sin by these things? yet among many nations was there no king like him, who was beloved of his God, and God made him king over all Israel: nevertheless even him did outlandish women cause to sin. 27 Shall we then hearken unto you to do all this great evil, to transgress against our God in marrying strange wives?

[33] Nehemiah 13:28-29 And one of the sons of Joiada, the son of Eliashib the high priest, was son in law to Sanballat the Horonite: therefore I chased him from me. 29 Remember them, O my God, because they have defiled the priesthood, and the covenant of the priesthood, and of the Levites.

  • Cast out the scorner. If someone hates God and doesn’t want to hear His words, chase them away.
  • Nehemiah contended with them, cursed them, smote them, plucked off their hair.
  • Why? Because they were giving their sons and daughters to people with false gods.
  • Nehemiah says, “Therefore I chased him from me.” Hey, look, cast out the scorner.
  • If they don’t want to hear the truth about God, cast them out.

[34] Matthew 18:15-17 Moreover if thy brother shall trespass against thee, go and tell him his fault between thee and him alone: if he shall hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother. 16 But if he will not hear thee, then take with thee one or two more, that in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established. 17 And if he shall neglect to hear them, tell it unto the church: but if he neglect to hear the church, let him be unto thee as an heathen man and a publican.

  • This teaching is very clear throughout the Bible, but churches won’t follow this. Why? Money.
  • Let’s keep going in Proverbs Chapter 22 verse 11.

[35] Proverbs 22:11 He that loveth pureness of heart, for the grace of his lips the king shall be his friend.

  • Do you love for people to be pure at heart? Do you want to be around saved people?
  • Or, do you want to be around evil and wicked people?
  • Do you want to be in church, or do you want to be at home watching TV?

[36] Matthew 5:8 Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.

Do you want to read your Bible, or do you want to play video games?

  • Do you want more people to be saved, or are you okay with people going to hell?
  • Jesus Christ will be your friend if you have mercy and grace towards people.
  • If you love the right and the good, Jesus will be your friend.
  • If you believe in Jesus Christ, you shall see God.

[37] Proverbs 22:12 The eyes of the LORD preserve knowledge, and he overthroweth the words of the transgressor.

  • Who keeps and preserves knowledge? It’s not men and women. You can’t trust the history books.
  • You can’t trust the history books that tell us about the early church. The seminaries will teach this.
  • The Bible colleges will focus on these things. They trust in the men and women of this world.

They trust in Martin Luther, John Calvin, Joseph Smith, Charles Russell, and Robert McAlister.

  • Lutherans, Calvinists, Mormons, Jehovah’s Witness, and Oneness Pentecostals trust those men.
  • But I could care less what they wrote or what they said because they aren’t the preservers of knowledge.
  • God preserves knowledge, and we have it right here in the King James Bible. He preserved this for us.
  • I don’t need your other books. I don’t need to waste money on that trash.
  • I don’t need to know what you call the history of the church that isn’t in the Bible.

God’s Words Overthrow All Other Words

God gave us everything we need to know in this book that He wrote.

  • The verse says, “And he overthroweth the words of the transgressor.”
  • All of this so-called truth that is being taught out in this world today will be overthrown.
  • God’s words are the highest of all and only truth is found within His words.

All the others that don’t agree with His words will be overthrown. They will be cast down.

  • So why choose anything else over the truth you will find in God’s words?
  • You don’t need Bible college. You don’t need Seminary. God’s words are right here.
  • But some people will say that they aren’t enough. Their words will be overthrown.

[38] Proverbs 22:13 The slothful man saith, There is a lion without, I shall be slain in the streets.

  • The slothful man always tries to get out of work. They always try to get out of church.
  • They always try to get out of doing anything that is good. “I don’t have time to work.”
  • “I don’t have time for church.” There’s always excuses. “I can’t leave the house because of Covid.”
  • “I had Covid 2 months ago, and I want you to feel sorry for me and I can’t work.”

They will say that there’s always something out there that makes them unable to do anything good.

  • If the weather man says it will rain next week, many construction workers will cancel the day.
  • The truth is the weather man has no clue what he’s saying. God controls the weather.
  • But they come up with any excuse to not do something. “It’s supposed to rain tomorrow.”
  • Guess what? It never rained. They sat at home and did nothing.

The slothful or lazy will find a way to get out of working. “Well, I just can’t do it.”

  • The diligent or hard working people will always find a way to get the work done.
  • God knows those people. God uses those people to get work done for Him.
  • The slothful won’t do it. The lazy won’t do anything. Why would God use them?
  • Let me be clear. God doesn’t like lazy sluggards and lazy sloths. Understand that.

[39] Proverbs 22:14 The mouth of strange women is a deep pit: he that is abhorred of the LORD shall fall therein.

  • Abhorred is greatly hated. He that is greatly hated by the Lord will fall for strange women.
  • The mouth of a strange woman is a deep pit.
  • If you’re always going after strange women, you might be abhorred of the Lord.

Bragging or boasting about how many other men or women you’ve been with it simply foolish.

  • It’s not something to brag or boast about. It’s actually sick and nasty.
  • You should ONLY be with your husband or your wife, and that’s it.
  • If you aren’t married and are with strange men and women constantly, you are breaking God’s laws.
  • He could end up greatly hating you, and then you’re done with. You’re headed for hell.

[40] Proverbs 5:3-5 For the lips of a strange woman drop as an honeycomb, and her mouth is smoother than oil: 4 But her end is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a twoedged sword. 5 Her feet go down to death; her steps take hold on hell.

  • You don’t want to go that way. Go the other way. Hell is not the path you want to take.

[41] Proverbs 22:15 Foolishness is bound in the heart of a child; but the rod of correction shall drive it far from him.

  • Every child has foolishness bound in their heart. Children will want to do foolish things.
  • If we just leave them alone and let them be, they will turn into little monsters.
  • This is why the ROD OF CORRECTION is needed. It’s a requirement to raise children correctly.

[42] Proverbs 13:24 He that spareth his rod hateth his son: but he that loveth him chasteneth him betimes.

[43] Proverbs 19:18 Chasten thy son while there is hope, and let not thy soul spare for his crying.

[44] Proverbs 23:13-14 Withhold not correction from the child: for if thou beatest him with the rod, he shall not die. 14 Thou shalt beat him with the rod, and shalt deliver his soul from hell.

  • We must correct our children and show them the right ways. If not, they will continue with foolishness.

[45] Proverbs 22:16 He that oppresseth the poor to increase his riches, and he that giveth to the rich, shall surely come to want.

  • Did you know people are taking from the poor, getting richer, and then giving that money to the rich?
  • When people give to these so-called “approved charities,” they are just making the rich even richer.
  • The CEO’s of these companies are rich. They make millions of dollars per year for ONE PERSON.

The So-Called “Charities” Oppress The Poor And Are Rich

For example, an employee of the Shriners Hospital makes 2.69 million per year.

  • The CEO of the American Heart Association makes 2.5 million per year.
  • The CEO of St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital makes 1.9 million per year.
  • And then they make you feel bad for not giving to them. Really?

The Salvation Army’s net assets or fund balances totaled 1.55 billion. Why do they have so much money?

  • They take from the poor. They oppress the poor. People say, “Oh no, they help the poor.”
  • Do they? Or do they take from the poor and help the rich? Do you know?
  • Wake up. What’s actually happening is usually the opposite of what you are made to think.
  • For example, huge companies have this donation period for their employees to give to charities.
  • These huge companies approve the charities you will give to. Many of these charities are evil.

[46] Proverbs 22:17-21 Bow down thine ear, and hear the words of the wise, and apply thine heart unto my knowledge. 18 For it is a pleasant thing if thou keep them within thee; they shall withal be fitted in thy lips. 19 That thy trust may be in the LORD, I have made known to thee this day, even to thee. 20 Have not I written to thee excellent things in counsels and knowledge, 21 That I might make thee know the certainty of the words of truth; that thou mightest answer the words of truth to them that send unto thee?

  • Now we get several verses here in Proverbs Chapter 22 that are telling us to please listen.
  • Bow down thine ear. In other words, humble your ears and listen. You don’t know more than God.
  • Hear the words of the wise. Apply your heart to God’s knowledge. Keep His words with you.
  • His words will guide you, and they are pleasant unto you.
  • When you go to His words, you’ll know they are truth. If you follow them, they lead to life.

Trust in the Lord. This is what saves you. Trust, believing, and faith in the Lord all go together. This saves you.

  • His words will save your body from death in this life, and they will save your soul from hell.
  • The Book of Proverbs contains EXCELLENT things in counsels and in knowledge.
  • But most so-called “Christians” today will choose foolish and idiotic books from so-called “pastors.”
  • The pastors who write these books can’t even understand the simple Gospel of Jesus Christ.
  • But they want to teach all of their foolish and idiotic doctrines to deceived men and women.

Read verse 21 again right there: “That I might make thee know the certainty of the words of truth.”

  • “That thou mightest answer the words of truth to them that send unto thee.”
  • We know that God’s words are true. WE ARE CERTAIN THEY ARE TRUE. I know how to get to heaven.
  • I am 100% sure of that the way to heaven is ONLY through Jesus Christ ALONE.
  • If I believe on Jesus Christ ALONE, without works, I know that He will save me.
  • I know that He won’t save me if I add my works into salvation. He’ll say that He never knew me.
  • I know that He gives me everlasting life that cannot be lost once I believe in Him. I am certain.

[47] 1 John 5:13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.

And then, once we are certain about salvation, we are to give these same answers to others that we are sent to.

  • And to others that come to us. And we can be certain, confident, and rock solid in the truth.
  • We have the truth. The world doesn’t have the truth. The world hates Jesus Christ. We love Jesus Christ.

[48] Luke 1:1-4 Forasmuch as many have taken in hand to set forth in order a declaration of those things which are most surely believed among us, 2 Even as they delivered them unto us, which from the beginning were eyewitnesses, and ministers of the word; 3 It seemed good to me also, having had perfect understanding of all things from the very first, to write unto thee in order, most excellent Theophilus, 4 That thou mightest know the certainty of those things, wherein thou hast been instructed.

  • I get so tired of these so-called Bible scholars who attempt to teach me things that aren’t in the Bible.
  • When I go to the Bible to show them the truth, they don’t want to hear it.
  • They say, “Well, I’m going by the history of the early church and what they believed.”
  • Guess what? I’m going by the history of the entire Bible that God gave to us.
  • I’m going to words that are far higher than any history book of the “early church” that isn’t God’s words.
  • They say, “Well, you need to read this book or that book.” NO I DON’T. I reject your “history” books.

We Know What Godly People Believed Because We Have The Bible

For example, in Luke Chapter 1 right there, God is telling us the things His people believed.

  • I know what the true believers actually believed. They believed the Bible. They believed in Jesus Christ.
  • They didn’t believe the scribes, the Pharisees, or any of those other sources of foolishness.
  • Luke writes this book through the Holy Spirit because he was an eyewitness to these things.

Why would men and women write books about things that happened hundreds of years ago when they don’t the truth of those things?

  • This book was written by an eye witness. But these people today think they know more.
  • Luke writes that we can KNOW THE CERTAINTY of things and be instructed by these things.
  • In other words, we can read the words in the Gospel of Luke and know for sure that we have the truth.
  • You can’t do that with any of these other books that are written by men and women today.
  • You might find some truth, but you’ll also find some lies. With the Bible, we find ONLY TRUTH.
  • And Proverbs Chapter 22 tells us this in verses 17 through 21. Let’s keep going in verse 22.

[49] Proverbs 22:22-23 Rob not the poor, because he is poor: neither oppress the afflicted in the gate: 23 For the LORD will plead their cause, and spoil the soul of those that spoiled them.

  • Do not rob the poor. Don’t do evil to the poor. Do not oppress the poor. Help them.
  • I don’t mind paying people that do work for me more money than they asked because they worked hard.
  • I actually enjoy giving bonuses to hard working people. And I tell them to keep working hard. Don’t quit.
  • When I see people working hard, I stop and tell them that they’re doing a good job. Keep working hard.

Help others. If you want to oppress people because you have power, God will be against you.

  • For the Lord will plead their cause, and He will spoil the soul of those that spoiled them.
  • In other words, God is for the poor and you better be very careful you evil and wicked people out there.
  • God doesn’t make threats that He won’t carry through with. He will do what He says He will do.

[50] Proverbs 22:24-25 Make no friendship with an angry man; and with a furious man thou shalt not go: 25 Lest thou learn his ways, and get a snare to thy soul.

  • There are people who are angry constantly. You don’t want to be around those people.
  • Every day is a struggle. Every moment is a struggle. Why? Because of this anger.
  • This anger creates this struggle constantly that doesn’t have to be there.
  • Godly men and women won’t want to be around these angry people. We don’t want chaos.
  • We love peace, joy, and happiness no matter what’s happening.

Again, you can believe the words of the Bible and follow them or not. Don’t be around angry and furious people.

  • If you won’t listen to this wisdom, then you will learn his ways. You will get a snare to your soul.
  • A snare is a trap. You will be trapped. Don’t learn the ways of evil and wicked men.
  • Angry and furious people hate everyone. It’s time to stop the anger and fury. Calm down. Have peace.
  • Have patience. It’s far better than being angry constantly. Constant anger and fury will kill you.

[51] Proverbs 22:26-27 Be not thou one of them that strike hands, or of them that are sureties for debts. 27 If thou hast nothing to pay, why should he take away thy bed from under thee?

  • If you are in debt yourself, why would you be a surety for the debt of someone else?
  • You are negative. You don’t have any money. You are using the bank’s money already. It’s not yours.
  • So don’t co-sign for someone else when you don’t have any money. This is a command from God.
  • “Be not thou one of them that strike hands, or of them that sureties for debts.”

Don’t make these deals for others when you don’t have the payment.

  • If thou hast nothing to pay, why should he take away they bed from under thee?
  • And don’t put anyone else in that situation when you know it is wrong.
  • You need to take care of your own debts before you become surety for someone else.

[52] Proverbs 6:1-2 My son, if thou be surety for thy friend, if thou hast stricken thy hand with a stranger, 2 Thou art snared with the words of thy mouth, thou art taken with the words of thy mouth.

  • God’s wisdom always shows us the truth. We must live by these words, or we’ll get in lots of trouble.
  • Do not strike hands or make deals with strangers for your friend.

[53] Proverbs 22:28 Remove not the ancient landmark, which thy fathers have set.

  • What’s a landmark? Think about it. A landmark MARKS the land. Someone owns this land.
  • It’s not yours. But these evil and wicked people will attempt to take what is yours.
  • And they do this in many different ways. Our government will do this.
  • If they want your land, the government will take your land. They say, “WE NEED IT MORE.”
  • And guess what? Now it’s theirs. They take what they want. This is evil and wicked.

[54] Proverbs 23:10-11 Remove not the old landmark; and enter not into the fields of the fatherless: 11 For their redeemer is mighty; he shall plead their cause with thee.

  • The stronger will prey on the weaker. They attack the fatherless and the widows. They take from them.
  • This is very dangerous because THEIR REDEEMER is MIGHTY. They aren’t mighty.
  • They pick on the weak and the poor. They are bullies. But God sees all of this. He will repay.

[55] Deuteronomy 27:17 Cursed be he that removeth his neighbour’s landmark. And all the people shall say, Amen.

[56] Job 24:2-4 Some remove the landmarks; they violently take away flocks, and feed thereof. 3 They drive away the ass of the fatherless, they take the widow’s ox for a pledge. 4 They turn the needy out of the way: the poor of the earth hide themselves together.

  • There’s people out there everywhere who are doing these things right now. They attack the poor.
  • The rich get richer because their riches are never enough for them. They are never satisfied.
  • They want what you have too. God warns against this. God commands us to NEVER DO THIS.

[57] Proverbs 22:29 Seest thou a man diligent in his business? he shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before mean men.

  • When a man works hard constantly, this means he is diligent in his business.
  • For example, we need to be diligent in coming to church and learning.
  • We need to be diligent in reading our Bibles. We need to be diligent in studying the Bible.
  • You might say, “But I just don’t have the time.” Well, let me tell you this.

Why Do You Not Have Time?

I have a full time engineering job, I work for this church, I answer questions, I do my best to reach people with the Gospel, I have a wife and 4 children, we are building a home, we teach our children at home, we are starting a huge garden, and we are starting a farm.

  • I have time to read and study the Bible every day and every week. If you don’t, what are you doing?
  • People will say, “How do you have time to do all these things?” I don’t waste time.
  • I don’t sit around and watch TV. If you’re watching TV, that might be the problem.
  • I also have time to play some games with my children. I have time to teach them things.
  • We are diligent and steady workers throughout the days, weeks, months, and years. And we don’t quit.
  • God wants us to all be diligent in our business.

[58] Colossians 3:23-24 And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; 24 Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.

  • If you find yourself sitting and doing nothing all the time, it’s time to get up and get to work for God.
  • Now is the time. Everything you do should be done as to the Lord and not unto men.
  • I know that everything I do I am doing these things for the Lord.

When I build something, I’m giving it everything I have. When I read the Bible, I’m giving it everything I have.

  • When I preach God’s words, I’m giving it everything I have. Am I always perfect? No, I’m not.
  • I have bad days just as everyone else has bad days. But I’m going to get back up and give it all I have.
  • When I get knocked down, I get back up and I keep going. I don’t quit. I want to know the truth.
  • I want to teach the truth. I want to glorify God by doing what He asks me to do.
  • I will serve the Lord Jesus Christ. This is what God wants from all of us. Let’s do what He asks.

Let’s not make excuses. “But I’m tired.” Did you know God gives you strength when your flesh is tired?

  • Keep going and watch what happens. He’ll provide you with more strength and more endurance.
  • Be diligent, and you will find yourself standing before the King of Kings one day.
  • What will Jesus Christ say to you? Did He find you watching TV all the time?
  • Did He find you doing vain and worthless things all the time like video games?
  • Or, did He find you working hard doing good things? Giving to the poor? Preaching the Gospel?

[59] Matthew 25:21 His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.

  • That’s what you want to hear from the King of Kings. “Well done, thou good and faithful servant.”

Let’s pray.
