📖 Day 10 – The Gospel Code

“Look and Live: The Serpent Lifted Up”

Numbers 21:4–9 • John 3:14–16 • 2 Corinthians 5:21

🎙️ [SERIES INTRO]

Welcome to Deep Dive: KJV Bible Studies. I’m Pastor Joshua Tapp from True Words Baptist Church in Louisville, Kentucky. In this series, we go verse by verse, no fluff, no compromise—just the King James Bible, preached and taught with boldness and truth. Let’s dive in.

📜 [SCRIPTURE: NUMBERS 21:6–9]

Numbers 21:6–9
And the Lord sent fiery serpents among the people, and they bit the people; and much people of Israel died.
Therefore the people came to Moses, and said, We have sinned, for we have spoken against the Lord, and against thee; pray unto the Lord, that he take away the serpents from us. And Moses prayed for the people.
And the Lord said unto Moses, Make thee a fiery serpent, and set it upon a pole: and it shall come to pass, that every one that is bitten, when he looketh upon it, shall live.
And Moses made a serpent of brass, and put it upon a pole, and it came to pass, that if a serpent had bitten any man, when he beheld the serpent of brass, he lived.

✝️ POINT 1: THE PEOPLE WERE BITTEN AND DYING

Sin had consequences. God sent judgment—and the only way to survive was to look at what He lifted up.

Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

🐍 POINT 2: THE SOLUTION LOOKED LIKE THE PROBLEM

God told Moses to make a serpent—the very thing that was killing them.

2 Corinthians 5:21
For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

Jesus took on sin, though He had none. He became the very curse we deserved.

🔁 POINT 3: JESUS QUOTED THIS IN JOHN 3

John 3:14–15
And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up:
That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.

Just like they looked in faith—we look to Christ.

John 3:16
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son…

👀 POINT 4: YOU DON’T WORK—YOU LOOK

They didn’t crawl. They didn’t climb. They didn’t beg.
They looked. That’s it.

Isaiah 45:22
Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth…
