Many people believe that Jesus is Michael the archangel, but we’re going to disprove that very easily today.
All you need to do is believe what the words in the Bible actually say.
The first verse we’ll use is Daniel 10:13.
Daniel 10:13 But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me one and twenty days: but, lo, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me; and I remained there with the kings of Persia.
Notice it says, “one of the princes”. Jesus is not “one of the chief princes”. He is “THE” chief prince of ALL.
Jesus is also the head of the cornerstone.
Mark 12:10-11 And have ye not read this scripture; The stone which the builders rejected is become the head of the corner: 11 This was the Lord’s doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes?
Jesus is all powerful. He is the Rock. He is not just one of the chief princes. He is God.
The second reason Jesus is not Michael the archangel is in the Book of Revelation.
Revelation 12:7-8 And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels, 8 And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven.
Michael the archangel is in this verse contending with Satan who is the dragon. Satan and his angels fight Michael and his angels.
If this were Jesus fighting, there wouldn’t be a battle at all. Why? Jesus is all powerful and ALL MIGHTY!!!
Jude 9 Yet Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil he disputed about the body of Moses, durst not bring against him a railing accusation, but said, The Lord rebuke thee.
With Jesus, there is absolutely no fight at all. When Michael the archangel says, “The Lord rebuke thee,” this doesn’t mean Michael is saying that he is the Lord.
This does not show that Michael is the Lord. I can say, “The Lord rebuke thee” right now and it sure doesn’t mean I’m the Lord.
Michael is contending with the devil. Remember, if Jesus wants to destroy Satan, He could do it with one word from His mouth.
Watch what happens when Jesus Christ has a “BATTLE” here in Revelation Chapter 19:
Revelation 19:17-21 And I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the fowls that fly in the midst of heaven, Come and gather yourselves together unto the supper of the great God; 18 That ye may eat the flesh of kings, and the flesh of captains, and the flesh of mighty men, and the flesh of horses, and of them that sit on them, and the flesh of all men, both free and bond, both small and great. 19 And I saw the beast, and the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against him that sat on the horse, and against his army. 20 And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone. 21 And the remnant were slain with the sword of him that sat upon the horse, which sword proceeded out of his mouth: and all the fowls were filled with their flesh.
There is no fight when Jesus Christ shows up for a “battle.” He doesn’t fight with them. He simply speaks. He created the world by speaking. He ends battles by speaking. There is no fight.
I could go on and on, but let’s go to the next point.
I was taught one time at a “Bible Study” that Jesus is Michael the archangel.
A “Christian” group called the Seventh-Day Adventists will say that you can prove Jesus is Michael the archangel with this verse:
1 Thessalonians 4:16-17 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: 17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
Just because the Lord is descending from heaven with “the voice of the archangel” it sure doesn’t mean that the archangel is Jesus.
Jesus is descending from heaven and the voice of the archangel is heard.
For example, let’s say your dad walks into the house after work and your mom shouts, “It’s time for dinner.” This doesn’t mean your dad shouted that it’s time for dinner. Your mom is the one who actually spoke while your dad walked into the house.
In other words, “For your dad himself shall walk into the house after work with a shout, with the voice of your mom.” Do you see how that works? Your mom shouts that your dad is home for dinner. This doesn’t mean your dad is your mom and your mom is your dad.
I hope that you understood this today, and I hope this has helped you understand that Jesus is not Michael the archangel. It’s very simple to see that Michael is just one of the chief princes.
The Bible never calls Jesus one of the chief princes! That would be heresy. Jesus is God.
