🎙️ [SERIES INTRO]
Welcome to Deep Dive: KJV Bible Studies. I’m Pastor Joshua Tapp from True Words Baptist Church in Louisville, Kentucky. In the Doctrinal Depths series, we go beyond surface Christianity to explore truths that anchor our faith and destroy false teaching. Today’s lesson: “Imputed Righteousness: Why You’re Already Clean.” Let’s dive in.
📜 [SCRIPTURE: ROMANS 4:1–8]
Romans 4:1–8
What shall we say then that Abraham our father, as pertaining to the flesh, hath found?
For if Abraham were justified by works, he hath whereof to glory; but not before God.
For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness.
Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt.
But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.
Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works,
Saying, Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered.
Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin.
✝️ POINT 1: RIGHTEOUSNESS IS COUNTED, NOT EARNED
Romans 4:5 But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.
This is imputed righteousness—God puts Jesus’ perfect record on your account.
You’re not working your way to righteousness. You’ve already received it by faith.
🔁 POINT 2: IT’S A DIVINE EXCHANGE
2 Corinthians 5:21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.
Jesus took your sin. You received His righteousness. That’s the great exchange.
🔒 POINT 3: YOU’RE SEALED IN POSITION
Philippians 3:9 And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith:
Your standing before God never changes—even when your state (behavior) does.
🕊️ POINT 4: YOU’RE ALREADY CLEAN
John 15:3 Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you.
Stop trying to “feel saved.” Start trusting what God said.
