🎥 Baptist Bold: Ask a Pastor
📅 Episode 1 – Sunday: Big Bible Questions
Question: “How Do We Know the Bible Is Really God’s Word?”
🎬 Intro Script:
Welcome to Baptist Bold: Ask a Pastor—where truth isn’t filtered, and the Bible has the final word. I’m Pastor Joshua Tapp from True Words Baptist Church in Louisville, Kentucky. Let’s get into today’s question…
📖 Answer:
People say, “How can we trust a book written thousands of years ago by men?”
But that’s not just any book—it’s God’s Book. And here’s how we know:
1. The Bible Claims It Is God’s Word
📖 2 Timothy 3:16 — “All scripture is given by inspiration of God…”
That word inspiration means “God-breathed.” These words came directly from God, not human imagination.
📖 2 Peter 1:21 — “For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.”
This isn’t man’s opinion about God—it’s God’s revelation through man.
2. Supernatural Unity Over 1,500 Years
The Bible was written over:
- 1,500 years
- 40+ human authors
- 3 continents
- 3 languages
And yet it tells one unified story from Genesis to Revelation: man’s fall, God’s mercy, and salvation through Jesus Christ.
That’s impossible—unless God was the Author all along.
📖 Isaiah 46:9–10 — “I am God… declaring the end from the beginning…”
3. Prophecy Fulfilled with Precision
Hundreds of Bible prophecies have already been fulfilled—to the letter:
- 📖 Micah 5:2 — Jesus born in Bethlehem
- 📖 Isaiah 7:14 — Born of a virgin
- 📖 Zechariah 11:12–13 — Betrayed for 30 pieces of silver
- 📖 Psalm 22 — Details His crucifixion 1,000 years before it happened
📖 John 13:19 — “Now I tell you before it come, that, when it is come to pass, ye may believe that I am he.”
Only God can see the end from the beginning. Not Muhammad. Not Buddha. Not Nostradamus.
4. Its Indestructibility Proves Its Divinity
From Roman emperors to communist dictators, people have tried to burn, ban, and bury the Bible. But it’s still here—preserved just like God promised.
📖 Psalm 12:6–7 — “The words of the LORD are pure words… Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever.”
📖 Matthew 24:35 — “Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.”
God said He’d keep His Word forever—and He did.
5. It Changes Lives Like Nothing Else
The Bible doesn’t just inform—it transforms.
Alcoholics, adulterers, atheists—made new by the power of this Book.
📖 Hebrews 4:12 — “For the word of God is quick [alive], and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword…”
No other book convicts the heart, leads to salvation, and brings lasting change like the Bible.
6. Jesus Christ Affirmed Every Word
Jesus didn’t just believe the Bible—He quoted it constantly and treated it as absolute truth.
📖 Matthew 4:4 — “It is written…”
📖 John 17:17 — “Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.”
📖 Matthew 5:18 — “One jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law…”
If Jesus Christ, the Son of God, believed and obeyed the Bible—so should we.
🎯 Bottom Line:
We know the Bible is God’s Word because it’s:
- Inspired and claims divine authorship
- Unified across centuries and cultures
- Prophetic with a perfect record
- Indestructible through history
- Powerful to change lives
- Affirmed by the Lord Jesus Himself
This Book doesn’t just contain truth—it is truth.
