Covering the Altar of the Lord With Tears

Malachi 2:13 And this have ye done again, covering the altar of the Lord with tears, with weeping, and with crying out, insomuch that he regardeth not the offering any more, or receiveth it with good will at your hand.

The verse that you just read sounds just like the “altar” calls today. I am going to prove that altar calls are wrong and show why they are wrong according to Scripture.

Malachi 2:12-13 The Lord will cut off the man that doeth this, the master and the scholar, out of the tabernacles of Jacob, and him that offereth an offering unto the Lord of hosts. 13 And this have ye done again, covering the altar of the Lord with tears, with weeping, and with crying out, insomuch that he regardeth not the offering any more, or receiveth it with good will at your hand.

In the first verse, He says He will cut off the man that does this thing in the next verse. What thing? Covering the altar of the Lord with tears.

The churches will set tissue boxes for people to cry on “THE ALTAR” and God hates that!

Here’s another point: The altar of God was used for burning sacrifices. As of right now people are not burning themselves, but it can lead to just that. They will say that they are offering themselves and their lives up to God, but God never says you must come to the altar to do this.

Hebrews 9:8-14 The Holy Ghost this signifying, that the way into the holiest of all was not yet made manifest, while as the first tabernacle was yet standing: 9 Which was a figure for the time then present, in which were offered both gifts and sacrifices, that could not make him that did the service perfect, as pertaining to the conscience; 10 Which stood only in meats and drinks, and divers washings, and carnal ordinances, imposed on them until the time of reformation. 11 But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building; 12 Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us. 13 For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh: 14 How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?

If you read those Scriptures, God is telling us that we don’t need an altar anymore! Why? because Jesus was the final offering for us, and now we don’t have to sacrifice anything at all! Again, we do not need an altar in the churches.

Malachi 1:6-7 A son honoureth his father, and a servant his master: if then I be a father, where is mine honour? and if I be a master, where is my fear? saith the Lord of hosts unto you, O priests, that despise my name. And ye say, Wherein have we despised thy name? 7 Ye offer polluted bread upon mine altar; and ye say, Wherein have we polluted thee? In that ye say, The table of the Lord is contemptible.

God says these people have polluted his altar and that’s very scary for those people. You do not want to pollute God’s altar.

God doesn’t want us to bow our heads to any image. When you get up there to pray, you are bowing your head to either a cross, an image, or the pastor. And yes, this is what you are doing.

Leviticus 26:1 Ye shall make you no idols nor graven image, neither rear you up a standing image, neither shall ye set up any image of stone in your land, to bow down unto it: for I am the Lord your God.

One last point: The people that do these altar calls say they are old-fashioned, but really the altar calls were started sometime in the 1830’s (we think).

Also look at the people who used them as they all had false gospels: Billy Sunday, D.L. Moody, and Billy Graham. All of these false preachers taught some different gospel. The Bible says this:

John 6:47 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.

People still will believe Altar calls are true after this because, well I’ll just let Jesus tell you.

John 10:16 And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd.

John 10:26 But ye believe not, because ye are not of my sheep, as I said unto you.

Well, I hope this has helped you today. Have a good day. Bye.
