Can You Lose Your Salvation?

🎥 Baptist Bold: Ask a Pastor

📅 Episode 5 – Sunday: Simple Faith
Question: “Can You Lose Your Salvation?”

🎬 Intro Script:

Welcome to Baptist Bold: Ask a Pastor—where truth isn’t filtered, and the Bible has the final word. I’m Pastor Joshua Tapp from True Words Baptist Church in Louisville, Kentucky. Let’s get into today’s question…

📖 Answer:

Can a saved person lose their salvation?

No. Not maybe. Not possibly. Absolutely not. If you could lose eternal life, it wouldn’t be eternal.

Let me show you why once you’re saved, you’re always saved—and anyone who says otherwise is preaching a false gospel.

1. Eternal Life Is… Eternal

📖 John 3:16“…that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
📖 John 10:28“And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish…”

If it ends, it wasn’t eternal. And if it can be lost, it was never secure.

2. Salvation Is Not by Works—So You Can’t Lose It by Works

📖 Ephesians 2:8–9“For by grace are ye saved through faith… not of works…”
📖 Romans 11:6“…if it be of works, then is it no more grace…”

You didn’t earn it—so you can’t lose it. Salvation is by faith alone, not by performance, effort, or obedience.

3. You’re Sealed by the Holy Ghost

📖 Ephesians 1:13“…ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise.”
📖 Ephesians 4:30“…whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.”

You can grieve the Spirit—but you can’t break the seal. Once saved, always sealed.

4. Salvation Is a New Birth—Not a Temporary Trial

📖 John 3:3“Except a man be born again…”
📖 1 Peter 1:23“Being born again… by the word of God… liveth and abideth forever.”

You don’t get unborn. You don’t get spiritually aborted. You are God’s child forever once you’re born into His family.

5. Even Carnal, Backslidden Believers Are Still Saved

The Bible is filled with saved people who messed up:

  • Lot was called just but got drunk and committed incest
  • David committed adultery and murder
  • Peter denied Jesus three times

Were they perfect? No. But were they saved? Yes.

🎯 Bottom Line:

If you believe you can lose salvation, you’re saying:

  • Eternal life isn’t really eternal
  • Grace depends on your works
  • God’s seal can be broken
  • The new birth can be reversed
  • The Gospel is conditional

That’s not biblical. That’s bondage.

📖 Acts 16:31“Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved…”

One moment of belief secures you forever.
