🎥 Baptist Bold: Ask a Pastor
📅 Episode 14 – Tuesday: Tough Topics
Question: “Can Women Be Pastors?”
🎬 Intro Script:
Welcome to Baptist Bold: Ask a Pastor—where truth isn’t filtered, and the Bible has the final word. I’m Pastor Joshua Tapp from True Words Baptist Church in Louisville, Kentucky. Let’s get into today’s question…
📖 Answer:
The modern church says yes. The Bible says no.
This isn’t about culture. It’s not about equality. It’s about obedience to God’s Word and the clear roles He established for men and women in the church.
1. God Created Distinct Roles for Men and Women
📖 1 Timothy 2:12 — “But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.”
The pastor is a position of spiritual authority. Women are forbidden from holding authority over men in the church setting.
2. The Office of Pastor Requires Male Leadership
📖 1 Timothy 3:2 — “A bishop then must be… the husband of one wife…”
You cannot be the “husband of one wife” if you’re a woman.
This is not a cultural suggestion—it’s a biblical qualification.
3. Every Biblical Pastor Was a Man
Timothy and Titus were both bishops—pastors. Paul charged them to ordain faithful men to lead churches.
📖 2 Timothy 2:2 — “…the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.”
Not one woman is called a bishop, elder, or pastor in the Bible.
- Deborah was a judge—not a church leader.
- Phoebe was a servant—not a preacher.
- Priscilla helped explain truth—but never pastored anyone.
4. Women Have God-Given Roles—But Not as Pastors
📖 Titus 2:3–5 teaches aged women to teach younger women.
📖 Proverbs 31 shows the powerful, virtuous woman as a guide in the home, community, and business.
Women are vital to the church—but the pulpit isn’t one of their callings.
5. Churches That Ordain Women Are Already in Rebellion
📖 Isaiah 3:12 — “As for my people… women rule over them.”
📖 Revelation 2:20 — “Thou sufferest that woman Jezebel, which calleth herself a prophetess…”
Ordaining women as pastors is a symptom of a deeper spiritual compromise.
It puts the emotions of the culture over the authority of Scripture.
🎯 Bottom Line:
Can women be pastors?
Not if you believe the Bible.
📖 1 Corinthians 14:34 — “Let your women keep silence in the churches…”
📖 1 Timothy 3:2 — “A bishop… must be the husband of one wife…”
God’s roles aren’t outdated—they’re perfect.
God’s order isn’t oppressive—it’s protective.
It’s not about what’s popular. It’s about what’s written.
