📅 Episode 22 – Tuesday: Tough Topics
Question: “Can Someone Lose Their Salvation?”
🎬 Intro Script:
Welcome to Baptist Bold: Ask a Pastor—where truth isn’t filtered, and the Bible has the final word. I’m Pastor Joshua Tapp from True Words Baptist Church in Louisville, Kentucky. Let’s dive into today’s question…
📖 Answer:
Let’s cut through the noise:
No. A saved person can never lose their salvation.
That’s not Baptist tradition—it’s Bible fact.
And anyone teaching otherwise is preaching a false gospel of works.
1. Jesus Promised Eternal Life—Not Temporary Life
📖 John 10:28 — “And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish…”
If it can be lost—it’s not eternal.
But Jesus said you’ll never perish. Case closed.
2. Salvation Is Not Maintained by Works
📖 Galatians 3:3 — “Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh?”
You were saved by grace through faith—not your behavior.
You can’t lose what you never earned.
📖 Romans 11:6 — “…if by grace, then is it no more of works…”
3. God Seals Every Believer Until the End
📖 Ephesians 4:30 — “…ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.”
Not until your next failure.
Not until your last breath.
Sealed. Kept. Finished.
4. Eternal Security Isn’t a License to Sin—It’s Motivation to Live Right
📖 Titus 2:11–12 — “…the grace of God… teaching us that, denying ungodliness…”
The false teachers say, “If people know they can’t lose their salvation, they’ll just sin more.”
Wrong.
The grace of God teaches us to live holy—not fear of hell.
5. You’re Kept by God’s Power—Not Your Performance
📖 1 Peter 1:5 — “Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation…”
You’re not kept by your strength.
You’re kept by His power.
And He never fails.
✅ Bottom Line:
Can someone lose their salvation?
No. Not if they’ve believed on the Lord Jesus Christ.
Some believers walk away. Some fall. Some backslide.
But if they believed—even once—they are eternally secure.
📖 2 Timothy 2:13 — “If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself.”
Salvation is not proven by performance.
It’s settled the moment you believe.
📖 John 6:47 — “He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.”
Jesus saves—and He keeps—no matter what.
