🎥 Baptist Bold: Ask a Pastor
📅 Episode 13 – Sunday: Simple Faith
Question: “Am I Still Saved If I Doubt?”
🎬 Intro Script:
Welcome to Baptist Bold: Ask a Pastor—where truth isn’t filtered, and the Bible has the final word. I’m Pastor Joshua Tapp from True Words Baptist Church in Louisville, Kentucky. Let’s get into today’s question…
📖 Answer:
You believed the Gospel. You trusted Jesus. But now you’re wondering—what if I’m doubting? Does that mean I was never really saved?
Let’s clear that up once and for all:
1. Salvation Is Not Based on Your Feelings
📖 1 John 5:13 — “These things have I written… that ye may know that ye have eternal life…”
God gave us His Word, not our feelings, as the assurance of salvation. Doubt doesn’t undo belief.
2. You’re Saved by Belief—Not by Confidence in Your Belief
📖 John 6:47 — “He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.”
The requirement is to believe, not to never question. The devil attacks your mind—but that doesn’t change the fact that you already trusted Christ.
3. Even Great Men of God Doubted
- John the Baptist sent messengers to ask if Jesus was the one (Matthew 11)
- Elijah wanted to die after seeing no results
- Peter walked on water—then doubted—and started to sink
Yet they were still saved. Why? Because doubt doesn’t cancel salvation. Unbelief does.
4. Eternal Life Doesn’t Depend on Your Performance—Or Your Mindset
📖 Romans 11:29 — “For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance.”
Once God gives you eternal life—He doesn’t take it back. That includes when you’re weak, confused, or unsure.
5. Doubting Is a Spiritual Battle—Not a Sign of Damnation
📖 Ephesians 6:16 — “Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.”
Those thoughts of “maybe I’m not saved”? That’s the devil. That’s your flesh. That’s fear.
Answer it with the shield of faith—not more feelings.
🎯 Bottom Line:
Yes, you’re still saved—even if you doubt.
If you’ve believed the Gospel—you’ve passed from death to life.
📖 John 5:24 — “He that heareth my word, and believeth… hath everlasting life…”
Don’t let your emotions override the promises of God.
You’re safe—even when you’re shaken.
