Abraham Believed God And It Was Accounted To Him For Righteousness

Today, we are going to be talking about Galatians 3:6. Here’s what it says:

Galatians 3:6 Even as Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.

Abraham believed God’s promise and God accounted righteousness to Abraham simply because Abraham believed God’s promise.

If you want righteousness, you cannot earn it by doing works of any type.

All you have to do get righteousness is what Abraham did. He simply believed God. Then, God accounted righteousness to Abraham. Notice that Abraham didn’t gain it himself, but God accounted it to him.

The righteousness came from God.

Galatians 3:6 matches John 3:16 and John 6:47 perfectly.

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

John 6:47 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.

These verses tell us all we have to do is believe in Jesus to save us and that is exactly what Abraham did.

Some churches tell you that you that you must repent of your sins, be baptized, and live a holy life to be saved.

This is simply not true. Why is it not true? The Bible never says you must repent of your sin to be saved. The Bible never says you have to be baptized in water to be saved.

This is what Ephesians 2:8-9 says:

Ephesians 2:8-9 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Repenting of sin and being baptized are good works, and you should do them, but they do not save you.

We are not saved by our works. Simply change your mind and believe on Jesus to save you. He is “THE” Savior.

And remember, Abraham didn’t do works to have righteousness accounted to him. Did he? No, he didn’t.

Genesis 15:6 And he believed in the LORD; and he counted it to him for righteousness.

Some people say that Old Testament people like Abraham were saved by works and grace. Grace means you get something you don’t deserve. Working for something means you deserve it.

You can’t be saved by works and grace. It makes no sense at all.

The Bible says Abraham believed and it was accounted to him for righteousness. Abraham had faith, and that’s how Abraham was saved.

Galatians 3:7-9 Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham. 8 And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed. 9 So then they which be of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham.

I don’t know about you, but I want to go to heaven where Abraham is right now. I have faith in Jesus, and I’m going to heaven. Jesus says so. I hope you’ll do the same today and simply believe on Jesus to save you.
