The Doctrine of Creation

the doctrine of creation

Creation was not a process of chance — it was the power of God spoken into time.

The doctrine of creation affirms that the universe, the earth, and all living things were made by the direct act of God in six literal days.

God spoke, and it was so. His Word, not evolution or random forces, brought all things into existence from nothing. This foundational doctrine reveals His wisdom, order, and authority over all creation.

The doctrine of creation stands as a pillar in our Statement of Faith.

Genesis 1:1
In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

1. God Created All Things by His Word

Creation is not the result of natural evolution or cosmic accident. It was a supernatural act of divine command. The doctrine of creation is non-negotiable in our statement of faith.

God’s creative power displays His glory and establishes His ownership over everything that exists.

Psalm 33:6
By the word of the Lord were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth.

Colossians 1:16
For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him.

Creation begins and ends with God — it is His masterpiece and His testimony to mankind. The Doctrine of the Scriptures confirms that His Word has always been creative and absolute.

2. Creation Happened in Six Literal Days

We reject the allegorical or symbolic interpretations of Genesis 1. The plain reading of Scripture declares six literal, twenty-four-hour days of creation followed by one day of rest. This is “THE” doctrine of creation!

The “evening and the morning” pattern confirms a real timeframe, not an undefined age.

Exodus 20:11
For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.

Genesis 1:31
And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day.

God’s creative work was immediate and complete — no evolution, no gaps, and no millions of years.
This truth harmonizes perfectly with the Doctrine of God the Father, who spoke the world into being by His will and power. The doctrine of creation shows the power in God’s words.

3. The Doctrine of Creation Declares the Glory of God

Every star, mountain, and living creature testifies to the Creator’s majesty.

Nature does not point to itself but to the One who designed it. Creation is the first witness to God’s existence and His divine attributes.

Psalm 19:1
The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork.

Romans 1:20
For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse.

Creation reveals not just power, but purpose — that man was made to glorify God and enjoy Him forever.
This truth connects directly with The Doctrine of Man and our role as His image-bearers.

4. Jesus Christ Is the Creator

The Bible declares that Jesus Christ Himself is the Creator — the Word by whom all things were made. The doctrine of creation therefore affirms the deity of Christ, showing that He is eternal, not created.

John 1:3
All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

Hebrews 1:10
And, Thou, Lord, in the beginning hast laid the foundation of the earth; and the heavens are the works of thine hands.

The creation account is a testimony of the Trinity — the Father willing, the Son speaking, and the Spirit moving.

It ties directly into the Doctrine of the Trinity and Doctrine of Jesus Christ.

5. Creation Reveals God’s Order and Purpose

Everything God made was designed with order and intention.

The laws of nature, the balance of life, and the beauty of design all point to divine intelligence. God created man in His image — distinct from the animals — to rule, reproduce, and reflect His glory on the earth.

Genesis 1:26–27
And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. 27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

1 Corinthians 14:33
For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.

The design of creation reflects the nature of its Creator — purposeful, intelligent, and good. Rejecting creation is not just rejecting Genesis — it is rejecting God Himself.

Application and Affirmation

The doctrine of creation calls believers to worship the Creator, not the creation.

We live in a world that replaces design with chance and purpose with pride.

True faith begins where the Bible begins — “In the beginning, God.”

Revelation 4:11
Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.

Affirmation:

  • God created the universe and everything in it by His Word.
  • Creation took place in six literal days.
  • Jesus Christ is the Creator and Sustainer of all things.
  • Creation declares God’s glory and reveals His divine nature.
  • We reject evolution, theistic evolution, and all naturalistic theories.
