John Chapter 1 verse 1 states that “The Word Was WITH God.”
John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
In my life alone, I’ve seen so many false religions who state they are “Christian” attempt to change this verse or twist this verse into something it’s not.
We know that the Word is Jesus Christ.
Revelation 19:11-13 And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war. 12 His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself. 13 And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God.
“His name is called the Word of God.” This is Jesus Christ on the white horse from heaven. This is Jesus coming for the battle of Armageddon.
In verse 1 of John Chapter 1, we know that Jesus Christ is the WORD OF GOD.
Now, what do we see there in verse 1?
- The Word was in the beginning.
- The Word was with God.
- The Word was God.
So, Jesus Christ was there in the beginning “BEFORE” anything was created. This means Jesus is God. This means Jesus is eternal.
The oneness Pentecostals sure don’t like the second point there that God makes in this verse.
“THE WORD WAS WITH GOD.”
That means Jesus Christ was WITH GOD in the beginning. Obviously, there shows that there is more than one person there with God. Jesus Christ was with God in the beginning.
If I’m with someone while writing this, then someone else is here WITH me. The oneness Pentecostals believe that Jesus Christ is God the Father and that there is only one person who switches modes.
They believe that Jesus is the name of the Father, is the name of the Son, is the name of the Holy Spirit.
So, in the beginning, they believe that ONLY God the Father existed because only ONE can exist at any given time.
If that were true, why does John 1:1 say that Jesus was WITH God? Why does it say that Jesus was with God and Jesus was God? Obviously, there’s more than one person that makes up the ONE true God.
John 1:2 The same was in the beginning with God.
For heretics who attempt to change John 1:1, you’re going to have to change and twist John 1:2 as well.
And, you’ll have to change the entire Bible and especially the entire Book of John. The Book of John destroyed the false religion of oneness Pentecostals.
Here’s another example from John Chapter 1:
John 1:18 No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.
How has no man seen God at any time, but Jesus is right there in the same chapter on earth and men are definitely seeing Jesus Christ?
John the Baptist is seeing Jesus Christ. We know Jesus Christ is God! That verse can’t make any sense at all with the oneness or modalist belief.
Yes, of course, they can say that JESUS (the Father) morphed into the Son and that’s why no man hath seen the Father. But their false doctrine sure doesn’t match John 1:1 or John 1:2.
John 1:18 means that no man hath seen God the Father at any time. THE SON OF GOD is Jesus Christ, and yes, people have seen him all throughout the Old Testament and throughout the New Testament.
John 1:34 And I saw, and bare record that this is the Son of God.
What does John the Baptist say? “THIS IS THE SON OF GOD.” Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He is never called God the Father in the Bible. The name “JESUS” doesn’t go with the Father or the Holy Spirit. Never does the Bible say this. Not once.
So, you can’t just ignore John 1:1 that clearly says, “THE WORD WAS WITH GOD.” You can’t be “WITH” someone in the beginning if there’s only ONE there.
Imagine me saying that I’m here WITH someone but no one else is here with me. You would think that I’m crazy. “Oh yeah, I’m here WITH myself.” God isn’t crazy. The word of God in the Bible is the truth.
And I’ll end with a Scripture that the oneness Pentecostals HATE.
1 John 5:7 For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.
“Oh, that doesn’t belong in the Bible because it doesn’t match with our false doctrine that God is only one at all times. There’s proof that was added to the Bible. That doesn’t belong.”
Well, guess what? There’s proof that 1 John 5:7 belongs in the Bible, and that’s why it’s there. And guess what? It matches with the entire rest of the Bible.
Isaiah 48:16 Come ye near unto me, hear ye this; I have not spoken in secret from the beginning; from the time that it was, there am I: and now the Lord GOD, and his Spirit, hath sent me.
Do you want to get rid of Isaiah 48:16 too?
Isaiah 61:1 The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;
Yes, I guess you want to get rid of Isaiah 61 too.
Matthew 3:16-17 And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him: 17 And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.
There’s obviously 3 in that Scripture right there. Jesus is there. The Holy Spirit is there. God the Father speaks from heaven. GOD THE FATHER HIMSELF says, “THIS IS MY BELOVED SON.” Is God the Father lying? That’s what the oneness Pentecostals are saying.
Do you understand that? God the Father says from heaven, “THIS IS MY BELOVED SON.” Jesus is the Son of God. He is not the Father.
If you say that he is, what happened in Matthew Chapter 3? Did Jesus morph into the Holy Spirit without anyone seeing? Did Jesus deceive us and throw his voice from heaven? Really?
No, Jesus doesn’t deceive. He is the way, the truth, and the life. He is the WORD OF GOD. When you want to get rid of the words in the Bible, you want to get rid of what Jesus said. In other words, you hate the true Jesus and have made up your version of “Jesus.” Your “Jesus” isn’t the one in the Bible.
What else do you want to get rid of? John 1:1? John 1:2? The entire Book of John destroys oneness Pentecostalism. You can’t read the Book of John, actually have faith in what it says, and be a modalist. It’s impossible.

And yes, when you have faith, it’s very easy to see that God is 3 persons in ONE God. This starts in Genesis Chapter 1 and continues to Revelation Chapter 22.
Jesus is there in the beginning with God when God creates the heaven and the earth. And Jesus is there in the end of Revelation when he delivers the kingdom to the FATHER. He comes to the Father in Revelation many times.
You can’t do that and not be a different person.
