๐ Examining the Biblical Doctrine of the Trinity
Today, we will explore whether the doctrine of the Trinity (one God in three persons) aligns with the Bible. Some groups claim that God the Father, Jesus Christ the Son, and the Holy Spirit are all one person who simply takes different forms at different times (Modalism). Others acknowledge that the three are distinct, but still believe in one God.
So, what does Scripture say? The Bible is very clear on this subject, yet many still misinterpret it. Let’s read the Word of God together.
โ๏ธ Does โIn The Name Ofโ Mean One NameโJesus?
๐ Matthew 28:19 (KJV)
“Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them **in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.”
โ This verse explicitly states three distinct personsโthe Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost.
If the Father was the same person as the Son, this wouldn’t make sense. Why would Scripture use the terms Father and Son if they were the same entity?
๐ False Argument: Some claim that โin the NAME ofโ means that all three share the same name, Jesus.
๐ก Biblical Understanding: In this verse, โin the name ofโ means with respect to or by the authority of. It does not mean that all three persons are the same person with one name.
๐ The Word of God is Always Right
Many who deny the Trinity fail to read Scripture correctly. The Bible contains hundreds of verses proving them wrong. Hereโs one powerful example:
๐ Matthew 3:16-17 (KJV)
“And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him: And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.“
โ Three Persons Present at Once:
- Jesus (the Son) is baptized.
- The Holy Spirit descends like a dove.
- God the Father speaks from heaven.
๐ก How could Jesus be speaking to Himself from heaven? This destroys the idea of Modalism.
๐ค God the Father Speaks Separately from Jesus
๐ Matthew 17:1-5 (KJV)
“And after six days Jesus taketh Peter, James, and John his brother, and bringeth them up into an high mountain apart… And, behold, there appeared unto them Moses and Elias talking with him… While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him.“
โ Again, God the Father speaks from heaven, affirming Jesus as His Son. Jesus is not speaking to Himselfโthe Father is distinct from the Son.
๐ 1 John 5:7 – A Clear Trinity Verse
๐ 1 John 5:7 (KJV)
“For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.”
๐ก This verse clearly states that there are three distinct persons who are ONE God. Those who deny the Trinity try to remove this verse, but the Bible supports this doctrine throughout.
โ Hundreds of other verses confirm the Trinity, making it impossible to deny without rejecting Godโs Word.
โ ๏ธ A Warning to Those Who Reject the Trinity
๐ John 10:26 (KJV)
“But ye believe not, because ye are not of my sheep, as I said unto you.”
๐ Rejecting the Trinity means rejecting Jesus. You must believe in the true Jesus to be saved.
๐ Deuteronomy 7:21 (KJV)
“Thou shalt not be affrighted at them: for the Lord thy God is among you, a mighty God and terrible.”
๐ก God is not trying to trick usโHis Word is clear. Those who deny the Trinity must repent and believe the truth.
๐ฏ Conclusion: The Trinity is Biblical
- The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit exist as three persons.
- Scripture proves the Trinity over and over again.
- Denying the Trinity means rejecting the true Jesus.
- The Bible is always rightโmanโs opinions are not.
๐ก Believe the words of the Bible and trust in the One True Godโwho is Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Amen. ๐
