Does the Trinity Match the Bible?

We are going to see today if the doctrine of the trinity (3 persons in 1 God) matches the Scriptures. Some so called Christians believe that God the Father, the Son of God, and the Holy Spirit are all one person. They believe they are all the same person who transforms into different persons at different times.

Others say all three are different people, but they are one God. So, what does the Bible say? Scripture is very clear on this.

But somehow people still mess it up. So lets read the Bible together today.

Does “In The Name Of” Really Mean Just One Name And That Name Is Jesus?

Matthew 28:19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

Okay, this tells you there are three persons and not one. The Father is not the Son, clearly and obviously. If the Father was the Son, this wouldn’t make any sense at all. Why call them Father and Son?

But still, they have what they call an argument. In reality, they have no argument. They say that “in the NAME of” means there’s just one person with the name of Jesus but called three different persons: Father, Son, Holy Spirit. Yes, they are very confusing. “IN THE NAME OF” means with respect to. The Scriptures aren’t talking about ONE ACTUAL NAME.

The Word Of God Is Always Right

I am going to show you that they are wrong and the Bible is right. God is always right.

The people that say this cannot read and understand the Bible. If they did, they would see hundreds of Scriptures proving their doctrine wrong. Here’s one of them:

Matthew 3:16-17 And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him: 17 And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

Okay, how much clearer can you get? How in the world do people not believe this?!?!

The Actual Voice Of God The Father Doesn’t Come Directly From The Mouth Of Jesus Christ

Still don’t believe? Okay, here are more verses:

Matthew 17:1-3 And after six days Jesus taketh Peter, James, and John his brother, and bringeth them up into an high mountain apart, And was transfigured before them: and his face did shine as the sun, and his raiment was white as the light. 3 And, behold, there appeared unto them Moses and Elias talking with him.

So, here Jesus was just transfigured, and then Moses and Elias show up. But just wait for the next verses:

Matthew 17:4 Then answered Peter, and said unto Jesus, Lord, it is good for us to be here: if thou wilt, let us make here three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias.

So, Peter wants to make tabernacles for Moses, Elias, and Jesus, but out of those three only Jesus is God. So watch the next verse. If there’s only one God at a given time there MUST be only Jesus, the Son of God, there at this time. But, no, someone else comes into the picture we see in the next verse.

Matthew 17:5 While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him.

God The Father Says, “This Is My Beloved Son,” And He Wasn’t Speaking Of Himself

So right there you see God the Father and Jesus. The Father of Jesus says, “THIS IS MY BELOVED SON.” This was not Jesus speaking, clearly. The voice comes out of a cloud and not out of the mouth of Jesus Christ. Is the Bible lying to us when it clearly tells us: “behold a voice out of the cloud?” No, God isn’t lying to us in His words.

Now, let’s move on to the next example.

1 John 5:7 For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.

This can’t be more clear. Since it’s so clear, the people who don’t believe in the trinity will say that 1 John 5:7 doesn’t belong in the Bible. But there are hundreds of other verses that say the exact same thing and match perfectly with 1 John 5:7.

Please See This Warning And Simply Believe The Actual Words Of Jesus Christ

Alright, if you still don’t believe the words of the Bible, then let me show you one last verse that might make you think twice.

John 10:26 But ye believe not, because ye are not of my sheep, as I said unto you.

Okay, maybe that scared you into believing this. I sure hope that it does. We should fear God greatly. The Bible says God is a terrible God or a God of terror to those that don’t believe.

Deuteronomy 7:21 Thou shalt not be affrighted at them: for the Lord thy God is among you, a mighty God and terrible.

Anyway, I hope this has helped you, and have a nice day, bye!

Thanks for that little summary Josh. That is the type of thing that everyone who is a believer should be able to explain to anyone who is confused on this issue. Whoever can’t understand what the Bible clearly reveals regarding the Trinity does not want to understand. Dave C

      Hello Dave,

That was actually my daughter, Callie, who wrote this. I did proof read and check this for her.

Yes, definitely, any believer should be able to explain God the Father, Jesus Christ the Son of God, and the Holy Spirit. All three appear in Genesis Chapter 1. Jesus shows up all throughout the Old Testament. One of my favorites is in Joshua Chapter 5:

Joshua 5:13-15 And it came to pass, when Joshua was by Jericho, that he lifted up his eyes and looked, and, behold, there stood a man over against him with his sword drawn in his hand: and Joshua went unto him, and said unto him, Art thou for us, or for our adversaries? 14 And he said, Nay; but as captain of the host of the LORD am I now come. And Joshua fell on his face to the earth, and did worship, and said unto him, What saith my lord unto his servant? 15 And the captain of the LORD’S host said unto Joshua, Loose thy shoe from off thy foot; for the place whereon thou standest is holy. And Joshua did so.

And yes, I 100% agree with you that people who don’t see that God is three persons in one God within the Bible do not want to understand the truth within the Bible.

Hebrews 1:1-4 God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, 2 Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds; 3 Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high; 4 Being made so much better than the angels, as he hath by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they.

Thanks again, Dave, for your comments! I will let Callie know that you left one here on the post that she wrote.
